The rice in the mutton mandi was actually good, but I didn't enjoy the mutton much, it just wasn't flavorful. Gobi manchurian was average, nothing special about the coating or sauce. Apollo fish was a letdown too, the fish had a smell and it didn't taste good. The highlight was definitely the jalebi. Compared to the location in Irving that I've tried previously, this version has a lot more options, larger in size and the volume of items available for purchase at the market. I loved the Irani chai - the version is not as sweet as what you may expect if you've tried it on the streets of Hyderabad, India, but it suits me just fine since I don't like the cloying sweetness. Live dosa and shawarma counters are available at this location. I thought the shawarma reminded me more of a katti roll sans egg, so steer clear if you're a shawarma connoisseur of the traditional variety, because it is definitely a version with a desi spin to it. The biryani was delicious (chicken 65), eith boneless chunks of well cooked meat and beautiful, fluffy basmati rice. Hariyali kebabs come on the bone, which imparts more flavor, but not what one might expect in a traditional kebab that's done with mince meat on a skewer. Not lukewarm, but cold. The restaurant itself was cold as hell! The dosa and the tosa both were very thick and rubbery. The fillings absolutely cold. The chicken tikka tosa had cold and over cooked chicken in the middle, and was wrapped in a cold dosa wrap. The rabdi gulab jamun was extremely sweet and the gulab jamun pieces were definitely the tinned variety. Nothing tasted fresh or flavorful. The dishes weren't bland, but they all tasted like they were made with packet masalas or pre-made (like days ago). Also, there were a lot of menu items that were unavailable, including every Indian restaurant staple, samosas, which are only available in the evenings. I get that a lot of restaurants can get messy, but having gnats flying around the condiments section in the back isn't good. Also, the bathrooms weren't clean, no soap in the lone dispenser on the wall, and the kiddie changing table was on the floor. Definitely not coming here again. read more

This place is absolutely perfect for early morning breakfast and coffee/tea. We wanted to grab breakfast at 9am on a weekend and found this spot near our friends house. The place is beautifully decorated with colorful graffiti depicting Indians and their love for food. We ordered Idlis, Vadas and Poori. We decided to check out this location. It does get busy here. We ordered onion pakora, butter chicken, chicken Tikka masala pasta, onion naan, bullet naan, and chicken Tikka. The onion pakora was fantastic. The batter was seasoned really well. I've never had chicken tikka pasta and oh my gosh it was soooooo tasty. They gave us a huge portion and it was just really good. The butter chicken was good but it did have a spicy kick to it. The onion naan was fantastic. The bullet naan was just okay. It wasn't my favorite. The chicken tikka was tasty as well. this place is really filthy, went by to pick a to-go order and found employees walking in and out to the kitchen and premises no gloves when handling food, there was an employee making juices and dipping her fingers in the juice cups. Some were going next door where there is construction and walk straight to the kitchen. The walls behind the counter and display glass is full of dirt, food marks and had dirty dish cloths around the counter with desserts. Luckily I did not spend much and ended up not eating the food in fear to catch something. Desi, you need to do better. Spicy to where it was still enjoyable with slight sniffles around the room and everyone reaching for more. I'm very picky about the chili chicken. The breading to chicken ratio was great, not too much breading and no fatty pieces. Other things to note, Momos aren't round they are dumpling /wonton shaped. We're new to the Frisco area and thought we'd scout out all the top Indo-Pak (Indian or Pakistani) halal food spots in the area and Desi Distrikt intrigued us because of their interesting menu! We decided to order them for lunch today and were fairly impressed! The momo's (dumplings) were surprisingly delicious (and unique, this is my first time seeing an option for Indian style dumplings)! The chicken 65 tacos were delicious and spicy. The only dish that was just OK was the manchurian noodles, which were a bit tasteless. When u go out there, be sure to try their Mango Lassi! Since I picked up my order, I noticed people in the restaurant drinking it and decided to give it a shot. It was good! The place is cute and looks clean too. Ridiculous customer service. Just waited for 20 mins after placing the order(after waiting in line for 15 mins) for mysore bonda to be told that they are out. This was after I asked twice why the order is taking so long. Same thing happened last week when my dasher waited 1 hour. Owner is no where to be found to raise issues and staff made me wait for 15 more mins only to tell owner will come only after 15 more mins. Net net 45 mins wasted for nothing. If you can't handle the load, don't take orders, there are many restaurants in the area, show some respect to your customers. At least 10 more similar reviews and no response from the owner/manager yet!! This place needs to be boycotted. read more

After getting our nails done in the same center, we decided to drop by this place and get food to go for the evening. Several appetizers and multiple entrees were ordered so we could sample their food. Whilst placing the order, we decided to have all food at a mild level until we could ascertain how strong they are with their chilis. There did seem to be some confusion when placing our order, like they weren't sure if they understood English. However, they turned it over to another staff member who was able to answer our questions. THIS IS THE WORST INDIAN FOOD WE'VE EVER HAD! The Malai kofta had hard little balls that were completely inedible. You couldn't even bite into them. Every single item/entree were at a top level of heat that we couldn't even eat it. We make our own Indian food at home and are used to some heat but couldn't do any of this. Our bill was $134 and there was nothing we could eat. Colleague put me onto Desi District after enjoying Butter Chicken from Windmills in The Colony FOR $34!! Butter Chicken was great from "DD" and could hardly tell the difference from Windmills for $12! Butter Chicken serving was very generous, fluffy rice, great naan, and very flavorful samosas. Easily 2 meals out of one order. Highly recommend. Very clean place, good service, sooooo many choices, they have some hybrid fusion food based on Chinese, Mexican, etc. All I can really say is I loved the flavors and will be coming back regularly!!! Ordered the Mutton Dum Biriyani, showed up at the confirmed pick-up time, and was told it will take 40 minutes to prepare. I can understand this can happen when ordering on-line. They offered chicken biriyani instead, but can't refund the $2 difference, so I had to pick out something else worth $2. My 2nd order was the chicken tikka masala (with rice). I checked my bag and there was no rice. I came back in to ask, it was explained to me that they didn't have rice so gave me an extra naan for FREE. For FREE? When you replaced the rice with naan, this isn't FREE. Am I missing something? When I got home, my biriyani was actually with mutton instead of chicken like I had originally ordered. This is not a complaint, but very strange. The food, the biriyani was a bit on the dry side but was flavorful. The masala was also decent. Food was overall ok, but the service was not. I stopped by on a whim as I have been meaning to give this place a try. It was a busy Friday evening with lots of to go/ pick up orders visible. I wasn't super hungry so just ordered the masala dosas to go. While I waited the owner was wondering around helping out. He saw me waiting and made sure I had been helped. We chatted for a few minutes and he took the time to explain the menu to me as there were a lot of items I was unfamiliar with. I thought this was very kind considering they were very busy!
