This place is 10/10. It's a small, family owned shop & you can tell how much love & care they put into their food. Their naans are piping hot from their tandoor, their biryani, chicken charga, you name it. I haven't had something from here that has ever been bad. My personal favorite is their chicken kofte. It's seriously so good, I thought they gave me beef kofte instead. Treat yourselves. Go here.

Biryani and butter chicken to go.

When it comes to Pakistani food, I'm a picky guy. You either got it or you don't. Staying in the Mission Bend area, theres quite a selection of Indo-Pak options. Lately what I've been seeing is the quality going down or not being worth the price. Desi Kitchen is an exception. The food--at least what I tried--was delicious and the price wasn't too bad either. Desi Kitchen is a hole in the wall and doesnt stand out in a strip mall that has a day care center and Message parlor. If you're driving down HWY 6 you'd probably miss it. The place is a dive and doesn't look very dine-in friendly. When I went in, the place was empty. That's cause the majority of desi's order takeout anyways and eat at home. I decided to do the same. I ordered the goat biryani, the butter chicken and two naans. Price came to about 19 bucks. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The Biryani was flavorful and unlike some restaurants, they didn't skim on the meat. There were several big tender meaty pieces of goat meat mixed in. The butter chicken was also flavorful and the naans were warm and fluffy. I'd definitely try the place again and see how their other offerings are. This may be my regular desi takeout spot. Give it a try.

oh my goodnessss after looking for the best paki food restaurant, i finally found the best place! i will be coming here very often i fell in love with the chicken biryani and the butter chicken. The cashier which i think that's the owner of the place made me feel so welcome and he's a funny man. I really recommend this family owned restaurant.

    Vegetable Pilao! Vegetarian goodness.

AMAZING!!! I have…read morebeen here a handful of times and finally convinced my husband and his family to try it for the first time. I joined the waitlist online before arriving because if you know Aga's, you know there's always a long line of people waiting outside! It took about 40 minutes for our group to be seated, but once we were sat down, the service was pretty quick and the staff was very nice. We started off with a pitcher of mango lassis for the table. It was delicious! It's basically like a really thick mango smoothie. It is pretty filling though, so I suggest taking it slow to save room for the main courses. I'd give it a 9/10 -- it would've been a 10/10 if it had been a little colder. The chicken lollipops are a MUST every time I go. The color is a little intimidating because you'd assume they're extremely spicy, but they really aren't. They're super flavorful on their own, but the side of chili sauce takes them to another level. 10/10. We tried the dynamite shrimp for the first time, and they were amazing. The shrimp were crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. 10/10. We accidentally ordered the wrong thing and ended up with the samosa chaat (not pictured). We were a little skeptical at first, but ended up pleasantly surprised. The combination of flavors complemented each other really well. 8/10. For the entrees, we ordered the chicken Peshawari karahi, chicken tikka masala, signature chops, and Aga's platter. Everything was great. For beginners, the chicken tikka masala is a great choice. It's a tomato-based curry with a little bit of spice. 10/10. The chicken Peshawari karahi was my first time trying it, and I loved the flavor of the curry. Something about it tasted very homey. I just wish they had a boneless version because it would definitely become my new go-to dish. 9.5/10. I didn't really get to try much of the grilled bbq entrees, but everyone else at the table really enjoyed them. 9.5/10. We paired everything with 1 large white rice and 4 garlic naans, which was enough for our table of 5. Overall, I love this place and will definitely be back! 10/10. Note: we did try the Fresh Paan outside, unfortunately it was not my cup of tea. But the floral notes left a really nice fresh feeling to my mouth lol.

When we went here 90% of the customer base seemed south asian which is a great sign. They have dessert as well. There was a long line for food and limited space but I can't dock them for that. Pros -There were a lot of vegetarian options that taste good. I actually thought the vegetarian choices tastes better than non-veg. My favorite veg dish was the mushroom masala fry, and my favorite non-veg was the Virudhu Nagar Chicken Pakora. -We got seated upstairs and although it's a lot of going up and downstairs to get food, I thought it was nice to be seated upstairs near the entrance so we got to see the whole restaurant. The buffet area looks impressive. I liked this portion of the restaurant but do feel that space is limited especially with large parties. -Staff were all very nice and helpful. -There was a dosa station. I didn't get to try because I was just so full! Cons -We went during lunchtime and although we didn't have to wait for a table, it was crowded at the buffet area when getting food, and at times people take a longer time getting food. -The non-veg was a bit disappointing as the taste was a bit bland, especially the curry types which should be bursting with flavors. -They offered a special fish dish but it has bones which I don't prefer. -They did not have my favorite puri when we were there! No Indian buffet restaurant should ever run out of puri or not offer! -There was mango ice cream and a variety of other desserts!

Granted a group of 12 people showed up unannounced right around opening time, the service was still a bit on the slower side. We waited about 30-35 minutes to receive our samosas and another 15 minutes to receive our Thali plates. All twelve of us ordered the same thing--the Regular Thali. The Thali is a platter that comes with 3 different curries or stews, 3 types of breads, rice, dessert, and a samosa. While I am not very knowledgeable about Indian cuisine and have no basis of comparison, the three curries and breads were delicious. Of the three curries, the paneer masala was my favorite and I enjoyed all three breads. The vegetable curry and lentil stew were both equally delicious and offered a change of pace from the paneer masala. The samosa was a bit of a miss for me due to the shell being a bit on the thick side, but the spices and tamarind chutney were good, but not outstanding. The benefit of ordering the Thali is that it is an affordable way to sample a very good variety of foods with the option or order more of whatever included curry, bread, samosa, rice, dessert completely free as a part of the Thali set. Would I go back? Yes, I would go back to have the Thali again but I'm unsure if I would be adventurous enough to order a full portion of a single curry or dish simply out of unfamiliarity with Indian cuisine. However, I would avoid Gayatri Bhavan if my boss isn't taking an extended lunch break with us.

Filter coffee was good, not too sweet. Service; the one man working (we came at an odd hour between lunch and dinner) was helpful and friendly. Our food came out on time. The restaurant itself was clean and well kept. Will return for the buffet one weekend.

I found out later that Thursdays are apparently when they have the Chinese buffet? The fried rice and chow mein were just okay to me but I did like the mixed vegetable dish and the egg drop soup. I came in not knowing about it so I was a bit disappointed since I was expecting more Indian/South Asian food. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was casual and lively.
