Tonight was our first time at Devil's Acre Tavern and I must say, I was impressed. First we were greeted by a husband and wife duo. They offered all kinds of seating, inside or out. We chose to tough it out in the heat to be greeted by an unbothered server. She was friendly, helpful and never missed a beat despite the heat and a mask! Stopped in for lunch after my yearly check up to grab a quick bite. This place prides itself in its meats and sausages but as a pescatarian I still had an amazing meal and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Service was awesome (Thank you to Matt - my bartender and server) kitchen did an amazing job (food came out quickly and everything was delicious) I had a veggie burger and fries and a Hefeweizen, couldn't be happier with everything. Used to work up the road and pop by for a late dinner and beer. Love this place. The decor is excellent. You'd never think you're in Pipersville--more European or lower east side Manhattan. They always have a great selection of beer on tap and the food is outstanding. I forget the main bartender's name--been a while since I've been in--but he is one sharp cookie. Love him. We were there for lunch where water was ordered. We received a glass of ice and a plastic bottle of giant supermarket brand water. I thought this to be odd but maybe they were having problems with their well? When we receive the bill, they charge two dollars for that $.10 bottle of water. I thought that in Pennsylvania it was illegal to charge for water but what do I know? Otherwise, portions were small prices were high and we are not going back. read more

My wife and I had a craving for German food which led us to Devil's Acre Tavern. The reviews and pictures looked too good to pass up. Everything we ordered was delicious. Food came out very fast and everything arrived hot and fresh. We wanted to try everything on the menu, so deciding on what to order was no easy task. We haven't been to Devils Acre in a while and decided to go tonight. It was Locals night. There were 3 choices to the special menu along with the regular menu. The specials menu had 3 price points. My husband decided on the pastrami short ribs while I got the Bistro Filet. Both were excellent. You also got a choice of a soup or salad and ice cream or a coconut brownie. Delicious! read more

Not so good... not a fan of menu choices ...brisket, mash and cabbage..dried out..maybe just caught a bad day.

Good food, casual but nice atmosphere and super nice staff. I would - and will - return.

Get the pretzels. Get the salad with homemade ranch dressing. Get the beer. Skip dessert.

Great place for a unique lunch or dinner - the drinks are amazing. Gotta try the homemade sodas or go for my favorite, the Orange Radler!

I had the worst experience with this restaurant they recharge my card nine day after my visit I called three times they rudely hang up on me then I drove to the restaurant to talk to the manager for help he was way rude than his stuff he cursed me and threatened to called the police on me without trying to know about the charge issue. My loved ones will never be spending a penny in this restaurant . They deserve no stars maybe -5 stars for my experience read more

It's so refreshing to find a good German restaurant in the Philly burbs. Everything here is delicious. I love that they make their own radlers. They have a nice selection of sausages and include some nice twists on traditional German favorites. A true gem! read more

This was our second visit and once again we were all pleased with the choice. While a bit out of our normal route, it is well worth a detour. Today we enjoyed the Reuben, schnitzel and of course, a grilled cheese. The paprika French fries are delicious and on our prior trip we had the pretzel bites with beer cheese dip which was incredible. I will give high marks to the cucumber salad as well. Nice complement to the savory (and heavy) meats cheeses and fries. It is quite good for Families and would be a terrific watering hole with their infused vodkas and outstanding beer list if only it were located closer to home! read more

Returned to DHA the other evening and had a nice meal. I had the link of the day, a house made pork sausage flavored with apple and cinnamonIt tasted a bit like a breakfast link, but was nice and moist. The sausage was accompanied by some nice kraut, house made pierogies and spicy mustard, along with a toasted roll. Heavy on the carbs but tasted great. Beer selection is pretty small still with the German beers not rotating as frequently as the domestic craft beer. But the place continues to show improvement and innovation. 02/24/17 2pm Loved it. First time visit for my wife & I and we were not disappointed at all. Service was excellent. Though I admit the server told us her name, but I don't recall it. But she was excellent. Polite, friendly, prompt and efficient. The interior of the building was very nice, laid back but modern. I also heard it first hand that the bathroom was very clean. From what I saw, The restaurant can accommodate handicapped people, and can accommodate from children to seniors. Ample parking, they have TV's and take credit cards. And the food? Best lunch we've had in a while. I mean Holy Hannah. Minstrels will be singing the cooks praises for years. I had the Black Forest ham & cheddar sandwich, and the prime rib goulash soup. My very attractive wife had the roast beef sandwich and house salad. Now you wouldn't think that a salad could be raved about, but she did. "....and the dressing was appropriately proportioned". Who knew. We also shared the soft pretzel bites that came with a unique tangy yet sassy dipping sauce. And if you care to indulge in a cocktail. She (my wife) recommends the "Hugo". I being the designated driver....again. Had lemonade. That our server always kept refilled. So, recapping. * Great service * Great food * Nice environment. Everybody has a bad day or just mishandles a situation, so although our visit started on a hostess misstep, the rest of the visit went sort of okish. We were out in Doylestown test driving a car and decided to eat dinner out that way. I found this cool joint based on Yelp reviews and the fact I love German food and don't get to eat it as often as I'd like. It was early but not knowing anything about the place I called before heading over. I was assured there would be no issue getting a table. Less than 10 minutes later we arrived only to be told there are no tables available as they are all reserved. I mentioned that I just called and was assured there would be no issue. With that I received the following reply "Well you didn't speak to me" I followed up with "I didn't say I spoke to you but I spoke to someone". The now aggravated hostess said "well you can sit there, most people don't like sitting there" (which I now understand) We took the challenge and sat in the ominous seats the locals avoid. We were greeting by a friendly server and given a bottle of what I can only describe as bad creek water. It was the wurst water ever :-) I was now wondering if this was a good choice or not...and then it hit me...literally...the table we were allowed to sit at was positioned at the apex of what would prove to be "the perfect storm" of 2 ill-positioned air conditioning vents blowing arctic air simultaneously, directly at us. I thought the hostess was cold, but this was freezing. It's kind of funny that we were given a warning for the rest of our stay that just before we were semi-cryogenicly frozen, the lights in the restaurant ominously dimmed to let us know to hunker down. Okay, now to the serious stuff: Their drinks are creative and delicious, we tried a few different ones and although we had our favorites, they were all well crafted. The french onion soup was tasty but not prepared in the standard manner. There was no beautiful brown crusty cheese lofted above an unctuous hot-tub of caramelized onions in a beefy broth. It was a wad of cheese that had been sunken in the soup and quite a mess. It tasted good, just lacked any semblance of proper presentation and no bubbly, crispy cheese :-( I ordered the Wurst & Sausage Platter which came with homemade sauerkraut and spicy mustard, it was truly euphoric. The artist that crafted the components of this dish should be inducted into some kind of food hall of fame. The dish was flawless, one of the best meals I've had in quite some time. I was compelled to order the perogies...well, because they're perogies and wasn't disappointed. I vacillated over whether to ask for sour cream or not, but it ended up that our server had condiment ESP and knew I wanted it, kudos to her. My lady ordered the short ribs and spaetzle, they were tender but a little bid dry. The spaetzle was different but I thought it was good. The apple strudel was decent and worth the few minute wait, it was a little heavy handed with a spice, perhaps nutmeg or anise, not sure, but even with that it was good. With a couple tweaks this would have been a 5, one more issue would have made it a 3, sometimes I wish the were half scores, oh well... read more

Really great German beer selection, easily the highlight here. Decent atmosphere/vibe, I use to come here after work to have a beer or two and watch some sports. Bar staff was on point which is unsurprising given the connection to Doylestown staples MOM's. Food was always fine but I will say very overpriced. Now I live a bit further away so I don't come often, but the beer selection remains excellent, food is about how I remember it, and the prices are too - high. Nowadays they do have an extremely affordable and really tasty smash burger happy hour special though. In my opinion, really the only time it's worth stopping in. read more

Devil's Half Acre is great if you are looking for a little bit of German flair to your food. They did a great job remodeling and the place looks great. The food is just Ok, the desserts are lackluster. Not a real brauhaus or real American restaurant, kind of a mixed metaphor that doesn't totally work. Went to Devil's Acre for a birthday celebration tonight. The drink menu is fabulous! There are a lot of unique and fresh drinks. We tried several ,they were all amazing! I especially loved the bourbon and fresh berries. Our appetizers were equally as good. The deviled eggs are worth the trip. The tavern fries are the bomb! I had to say something after the Bacon Burlee dessert...wow was that awesome. The texture of tiny cubed bacon on top of creme brulee with maple syrup...the sweet savory and salty combo is one of those rare delights that makes you drool like pavlov's dog. Very good indeed. I've had several of their menu items over the course of three or four visits...the grouper and wienerschnitzel are both very good, with a nod to the latter. The sausages are all spectacular. The spatzel is good. The sweet and sour soup is fantastic! Probably not for everyone, but I love it! All in all Devil's is something different, something you don't often encounter and I for one like having the option. It may not appeal to the typical scorched earth american palate, but if you thrive on interesting foodstuffs give it a try. read more

Went here on a Friday night around 9pm. The interior is TOOOO good. Very cozy and I dig the interior vibes here. My wine was great and my husbands beer was also really good. They have a very solid alcohol selection and their app list looks great. We had the pretzel bite things and whatever that cheese sauce thing was? Fantastic. Andddd that was the last thing that was even close to fantastic. I ordered the salmon and my husband had the chicken schnitzel. He said his was okay, but very bland. I ate about 2 bites of mine and did not want anymore. The salmon was barely cooked and had no flavor. There was a weird drizzle of ketchup? Of something? I don't know but I was not a fan. And it was all covered in oil. There was a MASSIVE pile of cabbage. It was the worst. Long story short? Come here for drinks and apps. And that's it. read more

The schnitzel was okay not enough bacon jam on top. My sides, the spaetzel with spinach and goat cheese was definitely not made to order. It looked and tasted as if it had sat around. The goat cheese was non-existent. The other side, green beans had butter on it even though I asked not to prepare it with butter. The beans could have been cleaned better with a few ends not snipped. Just a lack-luster meal not the "worst" and again maybe I should have had the "wurst" instead. The mussels were tender and flavorful and the deviled eggs were also good. We also got the pork schnitzel with pierogis and cucumber salad. They were all delicious but I recommend putting the cucumber salad in a small vessel so that it dyes t leak all over the entree, altering the whole dishes flavor. The sausage platter was really special. It was presented perfectly and cooked perfectly with beautiful sauerkraut. The sweet potato crepe brûlée was amazing, texturally perfect. Great beer selection with about 8 german beers on tap and a rotation of American microbrews. The food is also very good with a good range of tradition german food. The pork schnitzel is very good and the sides including spaetzle are all very tasty. There is a number of sausage types available every day and they feature a guest sausage. We have eaten there a number of times and never had a bad meal. From the appetizer menu I heavily recommend the warm kielbasa dip. The only down side to this place is the noise level. Went there on a Monday with my wife for a kinda "date day."' When we arrived, the place was empty. We we're immediately greeted by a friendly young waitress who told us we could sit wherever we wanted to. We found a nice seat by what appeared to be a garage door. The same young lady brought us water and took our order. She was very attentive. The food and beer were amazing. Authentic German cuisine! I had the Bratwurst which was fantastic. Great job!
