Sadly, as much as I loved this place and would veer 30 miles from the Philly Airport to hit it on my way home, my first post-pandemic visit included a massive sodium bomb in my beloved Devilled Eggs and Short Ribs. New chef with an inferiority complex, over compensating with a salt shaker? I don't know, but the Devilled Egg appetizer was for the first time ever, inedible, yet the texure, superb.The Short Ribs appeared next - dried out beyond repair - with Spaetlzes over seasoned and inedible-laden with salt. My pal had kielbasa and potato salad which were both well-balanced and seasoned superbly. The drinks: Red Hooks and IPA - perfect. And the service- awesome, but unfortunately, I won't be going back anytime soon. Too many other good (enough) places that understand what's the what is in the kitchen. read more

My husband and I came in on a Monday afternoon and sat at the bar. The atmosphere here is a clean industrial style with wood and tile accents to warm it up. We found a few beers on the draft list we hadn't seen before and the bartender was helpful and knowledgeable. Our meals included everything from pierogies, kielbasa and homemade chicken sausage, sauerkraut, grilled asparagus, mashed potatoes, beer and cheddar soup, to a coconut brownie and blueberry ice cream. Everything was delicious and obviously cooked with care. My only complaint was that our pierogies were luke warm but they were also very tasty! Wonderful place for an upscale yet relaxed neighborhood vibe. Short rib Goulash hits the spot on a cold day and the Acre Burger is tasty, although we wish there was a larger, single burger so doneness could be specified. Any of the Acre special meat dishes and Wursts are fabulous. At the bar, they have infused bases for their specialty drinks- try the raspberry infused gin in a martini. Doesn't sound like it would work, but is a smooth, not too sweet, refreshing libation. read more

Super unique vibe inside and the style of food is hard to find in the area. I have been here once and the host was so rude to us. We had a reservation for 6 and they would not give us a table and kept sAyjng they were going to release our reservation. They did not explain why not they kept saying they were going to release our reservation. What an unexpected surprise! This restaurant is exactly what the area needed-great food, drinks, and friendly service in a clean, relaxing, cool environment. This is my second visit and I'm impressed. The pierogi are delicious! Today's pierogi were salami and cheese and absolutely delicious. The chicken schnitzel sandwich was yummy, as was the veggie burger, tater tots, and sweet potato fries. The tater tots were stuffed with cheese and bacon and served with a dill sauce that paired well. Devil's Acre can be a bit loud when it's busy but is worth it! read more

Great space, design and concept. Menu is rich with homemade and locally-sourced German favorites. Beer menu is well-executed, which was not a surprise when hearing that the owners also own M.O.M.'s in Doylestown. As for service, I ate at the bar and Dylan (despite being swamped) hustled his ass off and was very attentive and got it done. Kate, a GM, was also incredibly friendly and attentive. Devil's Acre centers around German-esque dishes, but they have a solid lineup of carb-centric comfort food. (Though I found their beer selection to be a disgrace - what do you mean you don't have a lager?! For the record, they totally do have a lager, they are just confused about what a lager actually is.) Beer controversy aside, it's damn good food and a very modern and cozy atmosphere. Waitstaff is attentive, but the place is packed on a weekend, so service isn't lightning fast. Also - the bathrooms are nicer than most apartments I've lived in. read more

"This isn't really a bar. It's more of a restaurant with a bar." - our super awesome waiter who was also the bartender. That's exactly what it is. You can tell the food is a priority from the taste... Our waiter had a great personality, which made this an even better experience. They made a Patron margarita for us that wasn't on the menu ($11), and it was super potent. There had to be at least 2-3oz of tequila in it! The German beers were a little expensive ($6-7 for 10oz of the good ones I would've wanted, but they had others that were regularly priced for a pint that I wasn't interested in, the heffeweizen and the bock). They have rotating beers of the day (and I think cocktails and whatnot of the day), too. We had the kielbasa dip as a starter, and it was great. It was cheesy (maybe cream cheese?). I loved it. The grilled bread wasn't burnt, like I've had elsewhere. I personally had the "three onion soup" (their take on French onion soup, but I guess that would be frowned upon, since they make German food). That was great as well. We shared the wurst/sausage platter and the pork schnitzel. Everything was amazing, but each of the plates could probably be split between two people. I honestly think the sausage was better than both German restaurants I've been to in Philly... The plates are HUGE! You could split one plate or the wurst platter between two people. Trust me when I say this, but you'll only need to order half the amount of dishes you usually order (because they're twice the size)... unless you brought the Rock or the Hulk with you... I know everyone thinks "there's no good food in the suburbs," but this is the equivalent of a "great city restaurant." read more

Tiny outdoor area with 2 tables, though the front garage door opens making many tables "open air" -- good if you enjoy the outdoors like myself but a bit challenging with dust, pollen, bugs, etc being just off the highway. Relatively small menu with an interesting spin on German fare. Absolutely delicious food, though practically everything everything is carb-heavy. The Carmelized Onion spaetzle was to die for. There's not many places to pick up some German grub, so this place came up as a topic of conversation at a family dinner. My wife and I hadn't heard of it, so we decided to give it a try for lunch. The drink menu is extensive, along with a wide selection of beers. We didn't have any alcohol, but wanted to make sure the wide selection got into my review. We did have an unsweetened iced tea, which was very flavorful and not at all watered down, which is important if this is your non-alcoholic drink of choice when going out. As a connoisseur of French onion soup, I am incapable of passing it up when I see it on the menu. The "Three Onion Soup" with Crustini and Gruyere was a little on the pricey side for soup, but I've got no regrets after tasting it. This crock of soup might have been the best soup I've ever had, and certainly the best bowl of French onion that I've had. If you've got a bucket list, you should add this soup to it... because it's just that good. I was going to order The Reuben, but since my significant other wanted to get that, I opted for The Short Rib Pastrami. The pastrami sandwich was excellent, and I ordered the steak fries as a side. The fries were seasoned and fried to perfection, and came with a little bowl of ketchup that I ignored, since it would be an injustice to dip those fries in there. Now, I don't want to take away from the fact that The Short Rib Pastrami was terrific. However, I do very much regret not getting The Reuben. I had a bite of her's, and it was everything a Reuben should be. Next time I'm there, I'll be ordering that Reuben... and obviously a bowl of Three Onion Soup, as it would be insane to be there and not have that soup. The only thing that would change my mind is if somehow they worked Sauerbraten into the menu. read more

Twists on German food that are not great german food or american food. Shnitzel was dry and tough twice in a row. Spinach spatezel is a nice try, but nothing compared to the correct texture and instead is a soggy mild american mac and cheese. radler is just grapefruit juice from a can I believe. We love Devil's Acre - it is one of our favorite stops for lunch, dinner or to just have some great drinks. I only caution others who have not been before that it is pretty pricey. My girlfriend and I were looking forward to trying this place, and after a day of exploring what Central and Upper Bucks has to offer, we finally had our opportunity. We entered and were seated straight away, which is where the good news ended unfortunately. We were given water to drink, which had a bitter, pungent after taste. We made the assumption that since this is a relatively rural area, it was due to a water softener, which was confirmed by our Server. We orders appetizers of Pretzel bites, which we're very tasty. My crab and corn chowder, which was the special of the day, was, after I seasoned it myself, and carved through an oil slick thick enough to have been left by the Exxon Valdez we desired we have had enough. Add to the terrible service from the staff and you have a all around terrible experience. They had two servers working, plus at least one bartender and a manager, and 6 occupied tables. We were flat out ignored. I had to nearly stand up and wave my arms in order to get the attention of my server, who was standing no more than 12 feet away in a well lit dining room. I strongly recommend that you find other establishments to satisfy your hunger if you are in the area. read more

Very happy with our first experience at Devils Little Half Acre. Today, Memorial Day Monday , at 4:30 pm we had an early dinner and had fantastic service by Philip our waiter. As soon as we were seated , a bottle of chilled still water was poured in our glasses and left on the table as our drink order was taken. I had the Hemingway which is a rum, citrus drink which was delicious, my dear husband had a great cup of coffee as well as a non alcoholic beer. Starting with a French onion soup which was flavorful but not overly salty. There were so many interesting choices for entrees, we chose the Pork Schnitzel which came with a bacon onion jam which was the bomb! Two sides, I chose the cucumber salad to cut the fat of the fried cutlet and bacon, and the spinach spatzel with bacon. My DH had their German potato salad which he is still raving about. Other offerings that sounded so good included the daily special of Mahi Mahi with shredded potato and a mix of fresh vegetables, our neighbors had lucious looking chicken wings, and we will definitely be back to try all the different wurst plates. We had an Apple strudel with vanilla ice cream for dessert, it was worth the 10 minute wait as it is made to order and came all crispy and hot. We will be back. Philip save us a seat! read more
