My wife and I returned for our first indoor dining experience and we choose DAT. It didn't disappoint! Same great beer selection, I had the German Pilsner and she had Lunch IPA from Maine Brewing. As for food, she got the halibut special and loved it. I got 2 sausage links and a side of potato salad. The sausage was fantastic. Coming from a German family, I'm hard to impress when it comes to German fare. However, Devil's Acre can definitely satisfy the cravings in a pinch. We celebrated Mother's Day a day early and had a lovely dinner at Devil's Acre. On our order was pretzel bites, pork schnitzel with glazed carrots, green beans, roasted shallot mash, and potato salad, Devil's half acre hot dog with spaetzle, Devil's half acre burger with fries, "mac" n cheese, apple strudel, chocolate chip donuts, and some German beers. The starter- pretzel bites- were out of this world good. So hot. So fluffy and doughy. The beer cheese was on point with texture and flavor. I just wish it was more bites per order. Next time, I know to order 2 or more.. one app per person because you'll want to be greedy with these. The schnitzel was different than what I'm used to, but still delicious. My chief complaint with it was that it was just a bit tough/dry. The flavor was great and the crispness of the coating was unusually pleasant. The green beans that accompanied it were crisp and fresh.. very good. The potato salad left something to be desired. I feel like it may have been a bit too vinegary or mustardy.. not sure, but I wasn't sold on it. The carrots that my mom ordered were pretty great. Perfectly tender and the glaze was not too sweet, which tends to happen with glazed carrots. I imagine her mashed potatoes were also divine because she didn't even share a bite. My husband really liked his hot dog and onion spaetzle and my son couldn't stop talking about how delicious his burger and fries were.. and how he REALLY hopes we can keep coming back to this restaurant. My daughter had the "mac" and cheese, which is really spaetzle and cheese. HEAR ME OUT. This dish left NO complaints among anyone who tried it. Actually.. the grown man at the table declared he will order a kid's meal next time because he could not get over how perfect this dish was. The apple strudel was not very sweet, which is okay when paired with the Owowcow vanilla ice cream. Not delicious without ice cream. The chocolate chip donuts were dusted in cinnamon and..? Not sure. My son said they were not what he expected. They looked good though. The raspberry ice cream that came with them (also Owowcow) was deeeelicious. Wow, what a great find. After a long hike we were deciding where to go and found an absolute gem at Devil's Acre. The wait staff is great, very knowledgeable and friendly. We started with deviled eggs and pretzel bites, both great choices but the pretzel bites were incredible. My wife had the grilled swordfish and I had the pork schnitzel for entree, we agreed each was a home run. At a 6 minute drive away, Devil's is truly our neighborhood gem. It's our go to for a casual dinner at the bar, the place we brunch with friends, weekend dinner meet up with the parents and always the place we bring out of town visitors. I've ate my way through their ever changing seasonally crafted menus. Our tried and trues are fish & chips, any and all pierogies, baby kale Caesar, wings (any of them, but if they have a special wing, get that!), pretzel nuggets, any schnitzel, cucumber salad as a side and boyfriend truly loves their burger. I'm always hesitant to post a negative review, but I was very disappointed in Devils Acre. First, the positive. Beer selection and service was good. The place looks great and has outdoor seating although it's pretty loud with 611 right next to it. Food definitely has room for improvement. I had Buffalo wings. If you like wings spicy, I'd go more than their medium. The sauce was very buttery and the wings were not crisp. Also had the beef on weck which was the biggest disappointment. OK I have to say the best hot dog I have ever had! And I am not a huge hot dog guy...the acre sauce and the bacon were superb as was the hot dog roll! And the pierogi special unreal! The lunch was so good that I actually went back for dinner that same night! And starting texting friends that they must get here ASAP! Hard to believe there are no remnants of the former establishment although there are some vintage photos on the wall which is a nice tribute. I am a German Pilsner fan and they had not one but two great selections - Radeberger Pils and Fruh. Well done The Acre! Over the years, I've passed this place on my way to Karate practice with the kids, but just never had the opportunity to stop and or check out their offerings. This will Now change! They serve up some of the best sausage offerings (w/ sauerkraut) that would make you've been transported to the Munich Germany for Octoberfest or Poland for Christmas Kielbasa. Plus their selection of beers is, especially if the German ales, is outstanding. And it wasn't all just a meat and Kraut that was delicious, I started out my meal with a kale Caesar salad that I have to say was one of the tastiest salads ever delivered. My friend had the walnut and feta cheese salad and that looked equally delicious. The place has been recently refurbished I'd say in the last three the four years and the look an industrial garage feel with clean lines and ample seating. I was told this place was good and it didn't disappoint. They describe themselves as a German pub with local flair. Good description. Wife had steamed clams w/a smoky kielbasa in a dark beer broth. Served w/slices of toasted French bread. The dark beer broth was rich and delicious. Great for dipping. DHA sauce(Russian) and LTO. A very juicy flavorful burger, but the roll couldn't handle it - fell apart. Wife ordered pierogi of the day. Spinach/cheese. Delicious, but deep fried. Should offer as boiled, pan fried in butter(YUM) or fried. I ordered Spinach spaetzel w/bacon and Gouda. Awesome side! Apple/hazelnut streudel to go served w/Tahitian O Wow Cow local ice cream. Decided to grab a bite between wineries. Even thought it was 1pm they were still serving brunch. Had I known this I probably would have gone elsewhere. But we were already there and ordered something to drink so we decided to order from the menu that was somewhat limited. Crab cake with a poached egg for the misses and a full acre burger with hash browns for myself. No complaints about the food, the crab cake and burger I had was well made and flavorful. My only disappointment was the timing of my arrival and the subsequent brunch menu. Would like to give it another try next time I visit Buckingham Valley Winery but will have to make a mental note to try to arrive after 2pm. read more

Was here for the first time. It's was mid-week and not too crowded. Excellent list of German as well as American craft beers and of course German inspired food. While it's a Tavern, it felt more on the upscale side including cloth napkins, nice tables and- the prices are worth noting here. There is a limited selection of burgers and sandwiches, but outside of those most entrees were north of $20. Your tab will rise quickly if you're footing the entire bill. We had a couple of Schnitzel platters that were really delicious (see pictures) with brown butter dumplings, red cabbage and roasted turnips. Yes- yum!!! Service was friendly and excellent. First, to the guy in the dumb hat who was complaining about changing space for an infant - you probably shouldn't be taking a baby out to a restaurant at all, let alone a place that says "tavern" on the sign. And while we're talking about being ignored, the guy from Newtown brought his boring wife to the restaurant was in such a hurry to get up and go back to play D&D that he had to get up and wave his hands like an inflatable at a used car lot. It's called "dining out" and not fast food. Devil's Acre Tavern puts some great twists on a few German classics. This isn't the standard fare you'd find at Otto's or any other stereotypical German spot. Actual German food is influenced by a number of cultures and is quite innovative. The same can be said for Devil's Acre. We started with the pretzels and beer cheese. The little puffs of dough were along the same line as Aunt Annie's in the mall. They're light and buttery but topped here with a coarse sea salt instead of the pellets you could use to de-ice the driveway. The beer cheese side left us debating who was going to lick the ramekin clean. The surprise of the night were the Emmentaler-Sauerkraut Tots. They were light and fluffy - not dense like a traditional tot. The dill sour cream sauce lightened the dish even more. I would have downed another order if I didn't have more food coming. Next to the table was the wurst platter with the side of sauerkraut and whole grain mustard. The sausages are locally sourced from a butcher in Hatboro. They were spiced nicely and cooked properly. A side of fresh rye and butter would have made the dish. Finally out came the pork schnitzel with bacon-onion jam. The pork was as thin, crispy and delicious as any I've had in Germany. The jam really elevated the dish. On the side were the house made pierogi and cucumber salad. The left over dill sauce from the tots made for a nice topping. The cucumber salad needs a little more bite to it. Perhaps some sugar and a touch more vinegar. The meal was all washed down with a couple of Radlers. The orange radler goes down way too smooth. Overall my family was very pleased with our experience at Devils Acre. The portions and quality were fair for what you spend. They'll certainly get my money again. read more

First time ever going here the other weekend and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! my boyfriend and I went over the weekend and it was a cute little place. We ordered kielbasa dip as an appetizer and it was perfect!! Warm and the bread was nicely toasted, they even brought out more little pieces of for us. My boyfriend ordered a burger and asparagus (Both were soooo tasty) and I ordered a Reuben and fries. There Ruben was so authentic! Real German food! I'm so impressed and I feel like this place is so underrated. I highly highly recommend it and the beer is also wonderful!! Came here with a group for a celebration. I thought it was excellent. For a starter we were given pretzels and cheese dip. Pretzels were served warm and I loved them! Then we had a platter of different sausages and sauerkraut served family style along with french fries. French fries were typical. Sausages were really good. I liked being able to sample the different types. My favorite was the curry one which I think was a special. We were also served family style roast beef sandwiches with horseradish. I loved, loved loved the horseradish. It was fresh and not too spicy. It provided a nice match for the roast beef which was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of red. While searching for THE Devil's Half Acre property in Solebury, I found a link for this new restaurant in Plumsteadville. I headed there for Happy Hour. Decided on a Berliner Weisse beer. Glad to see a wide variety of craft, German and especially local beers. I looked over the menu and had a few snacks including the Meat Sticks (think house made Slim Jims, but delicious) and a skewer with hard egg, pigs foot, smoked Gouda and kielbasa. Tasty. Tried a house cocktail. Nicely prepared and presented, but even at Happy Hour Price was $9. The space is clean, the staff extraordinarily friendly and parking is a breeze. Can't wait to return for a full meal. (Pork Shank, house made wurst, spätzle, schnitzel are featured) On my second visit, had a full meal. Again, cocktails were well made artfully presented. Thanks Eli. Beer selection changed a little. Still pretty darned good, with a focus on German Styles and local craft. Sausage sampler was the hit of the meal. Four links with sauerkraut and spicy mustard. A slice of rye bread would have been nice. Pork shank was a giant portion. Spaeztle and red cabbage sides were good. I prefer mire fresh clove in my red cabbage. Dud not have room for dessert, which means another visit is in order. Prices are on the high side, but still a good value. We are in Pennsylvania usually only once a year in December. My Honey's work brought us here in July for two days. We have never stayed in Doylestown before and I always love to find the "local favorite" to try. Devil's Acre checked ALL of our boxes! German sausages, German beers and locally owned! BOOM! Off we went for a short drive in the country. It's right off of the main road with ample parking. We were greeted warmly and shown to a high table. Jeremy, the BOMB server, popped over and let us in on the specialty beers. A Dopplebach for the Husband a a dark ale for me. SO GOOD! We started with the short rib goulash and garlic parmesan pierogis. The goulash was warm, thick, savory and full of tender perfectly cooked short ribs & potatoes in beautiful tomatoey broth. I have never had pierogis before and OMG! so delicious! Honey got the sausage platter with four sausages, fresh kraut and a mustard that would knock your socks off! My Devil Dog, I think that's what it's called, was phenomenal! When you put fresh local sausages with fresh breads together what do you get? A freaking match made in Heaven!
