With an abundance of coffeeshops in Flatiron and Chelsea, there's a lot of competition in the area. Devoción, a Colombian farm-to-table coffee roaster (origin-to-cup in as fast as 10 days), recently started opening stores in the US. First in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and now Manhattan, Devoción has an incredible ambiance and a delicious espresso/latte. And, yes, they have all your alternative milks, too. There is nothing like Devoción's guava cheese croissant in the morning!! My only complaint is they don't accept cash unless it is exact change and their employees always have a slight attitude. Great pastries + coffee imo! read more

very nice brick interior, high ceilings made it warmy, love the aesthetic, ample setting -- rarely find any place with good seating in the city. pastry were pretty goooooddd, we got a guava croissant & dulce de leche, workers gave us good recommendation and coffee was great! -- personally i don't drink coffee but i drank my gfs for giggles and it was pretty good! read more

This cafe is in a great location. I usually come here when I drop by the Flatiron area. Even though I like sweet lattes, I appreciate how they don't serve lattes with syrup. The coffee is still great and what I love about this place after its location is its ambiance. It's a relatively small space with brick walls and a nice plant decor hanging from the ceiling. There are always people who are working on their laptops, making it a great place to bring your work, but also a nice casual place to socialize. I think the cafe provides a balanced environment for both work and play. If you're in the area, would definitely recommend grabbing a coffee from here. read more

Interesting! The cold brew ($4.75) is really good. I wanted oat milk, but noticed that someone on 1/4/2022 said that they weren't charged for a splash of it. Not sure how consistent the standards are as I was charged for it. As I work in food/beverage and retail previously, I try to always charge the same amount so super confused where the consistency is. Other than that, it seems like a really chill place to hang out. read more

I've only been once, but I loved the vibe, I like the focus on one country for coffee (Colombia in this case), the decor was excellent, and my espresso was great. My friend enjoyed her cortado immensely. They have a lot of seating, but on the day we visited (about 11:00 am on a Sunday) they were absolutely packed. I will definitely visit again when the line isn't quite so long in order to get a pour over--seemed like a cruel thing to order with so many people on line behind me. read more

Wow! In terms of smoothness, the coffee here is as smooth as it gets. The iced latte had no hint of bitterness and tasted amazing! I would drink coffee every moment if it always came out like this. The coffee came out within a minute and the shop is nice and spacious for those that need a place to rest or get work done. read more

Have heard amazing things about Devocion so I was super excited to go, but unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. The interior space was truly stunning, and there are outlets if you decide to work here. I ordered a cappuccino with almond milk and was disappointed by the espresso flavor! Maybe I came on a bad day and will need to try it again, but the coffee felt pretty bland and watered down with a bitter taste rather than a fragrant coffee one. Will post an update if I go back. read more

Not the friendliest service, but the ambience is nice and cozy (and air-conditioned praise God). But the best thing about this place is their coffee. I ordered a basic iced latte and was completely blown away. I didn't expect much because I'm not a coffee connoisseur and I usually can't appreciate the nuanced flavor profiles. However, this one was SO smooth... not overly sweet, not overly bitter, and it didn't need any syrups/sweeteners. I wish there were a location near home, but perhaps it's for the best for my wallet to not have one nearby haha. read more

Devocion's original location is a massive, gorgeous coffee shop in Brooklyn. This location is much smaller, but they borrow elements of the original. This location in the Flatiron District has brick walls, a few couches, and plants hanging from a light fixture near where you order. There are plenty of seats and many outlets throughout the space. It's a cute coffee shop with lots of tables and seats, leather couches, brick walls, colombian music lightly playing overhead and quaint lighting. There's a beautiful garden/plant chandelier that brings some softness in a rather dark environment. The coffee is pretty good and fairly priced - the drip coffee about a 10 oz cup is $3.75. They also have some simple pastries like croissant, chocolate chip cookies, and brownies. I had the regular drip coffee and it's smooth, subtle and strong. They had guava croissants when I went and they were perfectly flaky and the guava jam was fantastic. The staff is very friendly and always smiling. All in all, if you need a good coffee place to study or do work or read a book, I would recommend this place and definitely plan on coming back. read more

Such a cute little spot! Met my friend here before heading out to dinner, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time. This location gives off an open and inviting energy, making it a nice place to catch up with a friend, perform some work on your laptop, or just drink coffee and relax at your leisure. They have jazz music playing in the background, which further cements a time of relaxation and enjoyment. My friend and I ordered lattes and we both enjoyed our drinks. She ordered hers with regular milk, while I ordered mine with almond milk. Both were rated as pretty tasty. (We both found them to be highly comparable to a Starbucks blonde latte). The baristas were pleasant throughout the whole process. Overall: my experience was very nice! The coffee tasted good, the space is cool and relaxing, and the baristas were pleasant. The vibes are immaculate Love the deco all around. Plants everywhere, coffee motto posters on the walls for the caffeine fans, transparency on how they make their drinks, nice staff, lovely seatings! When you walk in, you can see a room where they store their coffee beans! Feels very authentic and special. Seating area consists of couches, tables and counters so you can have your pick for vibe of the day! There is a beautiful sunroof high above on the ceiling where it allows in lots of nice lighting! Although, it can be kind of hot on sunny days but you can avoid it by sitting on the sides and just admiring the light! They also allow dogs so I got to see some good boys :) Everything was perfect but the coffee itself was OK. Definitely one of the best ones in NYC Bc generally coffee here isn't all that great. A 4/5 stars coffee. Recommend for study/work time! read more

Literally always good. In the past couple years it's gotten so busy but unless you're looking to sit down and get work done in the beginning of the work day you'll get an excellent drink and pastry and a good vibe if you're able to find a seat. I've been to every Devocion location even the one in colombia and they boast the freshest beans in the city bc of their farm relationships and process. I appreciate a curated cup of coffee and while I'm an espresso girl they also have a wide variety of coffee drinks. You'll probably end up paying $15 per person but eh- you get what you pay for. Get the guava cheese croissant- you won't regret it read more

Rated as the number one coffee place in this area so I was very excited to try it. The coffee was good, but they don't offer any flavors which is very disappointing. I would say for those that prefer flavored lattes then this isn't the place for you, but if you prefer other types coffee this try it out. The interior was beautiful, exposed brick and hanging plants. Not a ton of sitting area, but some small tables for working. read more

The atmosphere of this place is lovely. You can sit outdoor and enjoy the chatter of strang er rs, the fresh air and a small view of the water. The iced coffee here is okay. I found it to be light and taste watery, a bit expensive for what it is. The scone and croissant were fine. I prefer the croissant over the scone. read more

Among the very best in NYC this Colombian Coffee House in the Flat Iron District has a vibe that you feel in the hanging tropical plants and the salsa playing. The place smells of exotic coffee aroma and the flavor of their coffee is outstanding! Ample sitting room offered. The coffee was fine. Very hipstery vibe and employees. The service was.. not really there at all lol! I don't think they really said a single word at all besides asking for my name and then calling it out when I picked up my order. I do like the inside of the cafe but you almost feel like you're bothering the workers. read more

Loved this spot. Coffee was solid and I highly recommend trying the guava croissant! Note that there is no public wifi on weekends which I learned only after I set up all my work stuff, but nothing my hotspot couldn't fix. I recommend bringing a jacket if you plan to stay for a while... gets a little arctic! The vibe is really cool and there's an interesting hanging garden thing as well. A good amount of seating as well. I'd be back! read more

The BEST, FRESHEST coffee I have ever had. Best coffee shop ambiance - made studying enjoyable. Not too loud, not to quiet, well lit with beautiful plant decorations. Only con - SUPER pricey. Spent about $8 for a mocha and $3.75 for a brewed hot coffee...also, most seats don't have an outlet, so if you're planning to stay for a while, make sure your devices are charged. Definitely my new go-to. read more

Great spot to get some work done and catch up with friends. Strong wifi, comfortable seating (pro tip: try to sit on the couch), clean bathroom! I didn't see any outlets near me because didn't look out for them but im pretty sure they have them. I always get an oat milk latte and honestly the Colombian roast coffee tastes amazing at devocion. One star off because of the lack of gluten free/vegan pastries! read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in NYC! The coffee is great, I switch between a cold brew and an americano most days, the special pour over is also awesome. The staff is always super nice and helpful. I also recommend their croissants, especially the guava one if you like something with some sweetness. Great place and atmosphere overall! read more

Big fan of their coffee -- it has a subtle creaminess to it. I got a cappuccino which was very good. It looks like at this time they are also allowing indoor seating. Upon entry, you must take your temperature and write down your information for contact tracing, so it felt very safe. read more

Devoción was launched in 2006 to produce the freshest coffee imaginable -- roasting provides only half of coffee's flavor, while the mere freshness of the beans does the rest of the work. And yet, most coffee beans sit around for months, losing flavor every day. I'd actually passed by this place multiple times but had no idea it was a cafe. This shop itself is more of a grab-and-go, but it might still take a while since all drinks are whisked and made to order. There isn't really space for a line to form inside, so you may need to wait outside to order (there's also a bit of a lack of room to wait for your drink once it's ordered). My strawberry matcha came out to $9.25 total, which is pretty pricey, so I expected a lot. In total, it took me around 10-ish minutes to get my drink with about 4 people in front of me. At first it took a while for our orders to get taken since the two employees were focused on getting drinks out ASAP, one person was preparing the syrups and milk, and the other was making the matcha. The matcha itself had a nice green color. I've had many strawberry matchas prior to this, and based on my experience, this place was alright. The strawberry syrup was nice and not too sweet, but I wish there was a bit more flavoring or more of it, as after two sips I couldn't taste the strawberry at all. Overall, it's a nice shop with cute trinkets around and their own products they sell, like matchas and tea sets. However, for $9, it was a lot for what the drink offered in my opinion.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.

Yelp deleted the below review claiming it wasn't based on first-hand experience in order to protect their business that is based on prolonging COVID-19 and killing people - sad. Since the review was deleted COVID-19 has become Americas deadliest pandemic killing almost SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND people - let's hope Yelp doesn't try to cover this up. Adorable coffee shop space, but their Business photos on Yelp are deceiving. There is only seating for about 20 people total, and on a weekend you can easily find people trying to balance mugs while standing around. The coffee options were very extensive, but the food options left a lot to be desired. With the small space they have though, I felt like they did a good job making it feel cozy. The leather couches, indoor plants hanging from the ceiling, and rugs, made it feel like more than just a commercial coffee shop. A welcome addition to the Flatiron District. This is what a nice coffee cafe should be. Open space, plenty of room between tables. It is clean, elegant, welcoming and the aromatics hit you once you walk through the door. The espresso drinks are top notch and the service is there to match.
