This was definitely a place that was an unexpected surprise. Local coffee shop in the heart of Williamsburg. Fun and eclectic, crowd young professionals. High voltage ceilings that allow for natural light. You walk in and it doesnt scream factory but more like an expensive brewery. Wide open communal space with two large couches in the centre and then multiple small spaces around. Good mixed crowd and was busy. If you can tune out the noice, then this place is pretty funky and hip to hang out. There is a side bar as well if you dont care to sit around a crowd. Columbian based coffee, I got the Curato and small as it was for the price, worth it for the taste of the bean. Definitely for coffee conisieurs, the only thing not for tea lovers. Does have a few pastries for snacks but no large menu to eat. Its a hidden gem. Funny thing, we didnt find it through Yelp in fact it gets rave reviews from anyone you ask. Yelp helps. read more

I've been here a couple times now. The chocolate croissant is to die for. Everything else is just okay. I ordered a blueberry muffin & it was one of the most unsatisfying experiences of my life. The latte was good, but I was disappointed by the lack of ANY flavored syrups. I get that this is a serious coffee shop, but you can't have 1 bottle of chocolate or caramel? I'm not looking for a Frappuccino, just wanting to flavor my drink a little. The inside is gorgeous. The skylight and plant life made this an inviting locale. The decor is very nice. Good place to get some work done on your laptop. The coffee I tried was nitro brew which I was used to but my friend was not and asked to change it. The woman behind the counter did not seem to like this or had just been having a bad day. The other staff was nice and smiled but this one woman just was not as courteous as one would expect when being served coffee. read more

By far my favorite coffee shop on the eastern U.S. Spacious, trendy, and great ambiance. The only con I've ever experienced here is that seating stays full at most hours. During my first experience there, I had a pineapple lemon grass tea (which consists of fresh chunks of pineapple and a few stalks of lemongrass), and my husband had a latte (which was perfection from presentation to flavor). When I asked what their Toro coffee [bean] is (which is the only coffee they offer) the unenthused response was "it's our house blend". Cool! Don't let the nondescript exterior fool ya! Peering through the glass wall to watch their in-house roasting process is a welcomed distraction while walking down a longish hallway before entering the main space. My eyes were immediately drawn into the main area due to how brightly lit it was. Taking advantage of the natural light from the beautiful skylight, and the plant wall gave me an outdoorsy vibe, which I very much liked. The exposed brick walls lends no need for much wall art. But the few pieces (some for sale) hung is more than enough without overdoing it. It is not your typical 90's coffee haunt: small, intimate, cafe -like atmosphere. If you miss those days, this may not be the right place for you. It is bright, airy and modern. There are adequate number and choice of seating types; bar stools, table and chair sets with or without umbrellas peppered throughout and a central lounge area with comfy-looking sofas. So take your pick and get comfortable! The two young ladies behind the counter were very polite and cordial. I don't have much to say about the food because I ordered a latte. But the presentation of muffins, etc. were well laid out and aesthetically pleasing. Not well versed in these types of drinks, but I enjoyed it. *shrugs* The price of my drink was reasonable. The bathroom I used was CLEAN, and would appear to accommodate a wheelchair quite comfortably. There appears to be an upper level, which I didn't have a choice to check out. But I will during my next visit ;-) The time of my visit was around 2pm on a Wednesday. Every table was occupied with the exception of the barstools. I was there for a little over 2 hours however, so I had a chance to observe a healthy flow of traffic and seatings opening up accordingly. I live near the end of the line on the L in Brooklyn so it took me a while to get there. Don't let the walk from the Bedford Avenue stop on the 'L' deter you from coming here. There is plenty to see on your way. I've lived in Brooklyn for over 2 decades and it still brings out the tourist in me. But I digress. Devocion gets a thumbs up from me. read more

This is the best coffee house in the whole city and they must put drugs in the coffee. I can't stop drinking it or buying it and then drinking more of it. A huge fan of the ambience here. It's a beautiful space and perfect for getting work done or catching up with friends. Excellent coffee and decent pastries. Service is nonexistent (the person taking my order couldn't be bothered to look up from her phone) but it's not a service-oriented place so not a big deal. Truly a great place, from the coffee (delicious), to the ambience (hip, cool, not too loud), and the customer service (awesome). I wanted to purchase a pound of coffee as a gift -- the manager was extremely helpful in selecting the right grind for a relative's coffeemaker and even gave me a quick lesson. Located on an interesting block with design-focused shops, florists, doctors, public murals and more just steps away from the Domino Park. Review for COFFEE DELIVERY - not shop. The difference between ordering these beans to my door and stopping off at Joe is beyond worthwhile. Wish it were not so - because I can easily pick up a pound of Joe. Both Joe and Devocion offer a solid and consistent roast - I just find I no longer care for the selection of offerings at Joe as much as I once did. It takes no more than two days for Devocion to reach me from Brooklyn no matter when I've ordered. I'm partial to others - but it begs telling that even Devocion's Caturra (a smokey offering I customarily avoid in other establishments including Joe) is as complex as it is lusty. Devocion offers auto subscriptions and seasonal offerings in exchange for signing up. I am not one to sign up for things - but am glad I did: The seasonal offering alerts have proved a worthwhile trade for doing so. I do not use the auto subscription. I can say I tried it and it was reliable - but it created food waste at times and I simply can neither abide food waste nor stomach a stale cup. Apparently, I am perfectly capable of accepting a giant footprint for my coffee. Yes, I am. To be fair, I haven't been to Devocion in probably a year. It is evocative of early 21st century neoliberal New York City, which is to say: the location is gorgeous, the product is excellent, but the customer service is mediocre or worse. On several occasions I came away with the feeling that unless you are a hipster or WASP-y type, you will be ignored. I know this is not a major coffee chain, but I was either treated by staff like I wasn't there, or it took longer to make my drink than it should have. When I walked into the shop, immediately I saw how special this place was. I think it had something to do with the customer service, I didn't feel like another number.
