They have great seafood, but this shouldn't even be considered a steakhouse. I had their Alaskan King Crab legs and some of it was done very well. Not too tough, but there were some parts that were dry. They make an incredible creamed corn! Phenomenal really, it's their best side dish. I wish there was more crab, but it was an ok amount. This shouldn't be considered a steakhouse. I had the fillet mignon and lobster tail. The fillet was the WORST I've ever had and it was tiny. The lobster tail was pretty good. I usually have enough to take home when I pay as much as I did. So their prices are inflated for what you get as I ate everything and was still kind of hungry so I headed down to Oak Brook mall. Finally Devon opened in the west suburbs of Chicago !! We went on quiet Wednesday afternoon-place was packed !. Its their happy hour specials. 5-7 pm you can choose from 5$-6$ appetizers,which includes calamari,duck flatbread,mussels,lobster rolls,shrimp and MORE good stuff !! we had delicious lobster claws- 3$ each, oysters ( some of them were 1$ each), and Wednesday special- Lobster tail for a 12 $ !!!! Can you imagine that ?? How better can it get ? but it did :)) Checking in on Foursquare (the app on smartphones)- we got the calamari for free !! Whohooo !!. I'm coming here every week !! The wine selection is pretty good- you can have a decent wine ,starting at 22$. I should say they charge little bit less for a bottle,than some nice restaurants around. Kids menu is awesome -for 10$ they offer chicken strips with any choice of side plus a drink and huge portion of ice cream. Since we came on the third day they were open- I'm not going to complain about service issues. The server was attentive,but the food runners forgot to bring the utensils,clean the table etc.. We came here for our anniversary and had a pleasant experience. We were very satisfied with our food and service. We ordered the prix fix dinners and had the lobster bisque-very creamy and had good lobster flavor, caesar salad, seafood grill-scallops, shrimp, crab cakes, and salmon, and 6 oz filet. We also added in some oysters. For dessert, we had chocolate cake and creme brulee. We were so full that we had to pack our desserts to go. Everything was perfect and our server, Ian, checked on us frequently. Guests were seated every other table apart. It was actually pretty busy on a Friday night. I went to Devon's on Easter with a party of 10. Very nice place on the inside. Much larger than I thought it would be. They had some very good Bloody Marys. The kids menus were very good and they a enjoyed their meals. The lobster rolls were great for kids. The service was also top notch. The 'problem' I had was the Prix Fixe Easter menu. Very good selections, and the salads and lobster bisque first courses were great. But the second courses which consisted of a mix of steaks and scallops were just decent. Perhaps we should have ordered off the main menu as opposed to the 'special Easter menu.' The steaks weren't seasoned well, and the scallops were dried out. Almost like the bulk meals were prepared in advance and take off the line as ordered came in. I eat here often, as it is one of my favorite restaurants in Oak Brook. The food never disappoints. However, On March 1st I placed a takeout order (check 23) and requested a different side (roasted potatoes instead of mashed) and ended up getting no potatoes. I called the restaurant back, had to leave a voicemail. No one called me back. Still waiting a week later. That was disappointing. So, instead of 4 stars I'm giving a disappointing 3 stars. LOVE the vibe to this place! They have an open area to the bar and one towards the back. I was able to get my meal covered by Devon recently to try out their menu items for a Marketing event. If I didn't feel bad about cleaning house, I would have ordered more. My wife LOVES their oyster happy hour! They also have other great happy hour items like the lobster rolls which was delicious and the lovely biscuits with sweet butter which are free and dangerous. I could eat those biscuits all day!! I have also had their bruschetta (VERY GOOD) and flatbread which was also good. Prices are high which is the only downside. Parking can be a pain as well but I do believe they have FREE Valet. read more

We came to this location in Oct of this year to celebrate both my hubby's and my sister's birthday. I had no problem setting up a dinner reservation on a Sunday evening and I told them it's both of their birthdays and this is our first time eating here. I've heard good things about this seafood chain. This one is much closer to us. The place is attached to a strip mall so there was plenty of parking or you can also valet as well. The hostess greeted us right away and took us to our table in the back. The place has a modern decor, dim with spot lights over each table, very romantic. They had a fireplace wall that separates the room from the bar. I also saw a private room for parties in the back. When we were given our menus from Nicole our server (we enjoyed her, she was a good and very attentive) it was a surprise that they had both of their names on the fancy paper menus wishing them both a happy birthday what?!? How cool was that! Since it was a Sunday dinner, we also took advantage of their half price bottles of wine under $100 or 25% off bottles of wine $100 and over! Yes, it's every Sunday! Now on to the our meals, we ordered the following: -FRIED CALAMARI with jalapeños and carrots, a sweet n' sour,creole remoulade. Basically, all of these items were lightly battered and fried. This was a pretty good appetizer, I'd get this again. -GOAT CHEESE BRUSCHETTA tomato-basil cruda, focaccia crisps, kalamata olive. This was a nice appetizer, the goat cheese was tangy and we asked for more bread yes please. -ATLANTIC SALMON (Nova Scotia), my mom had this and it was a nice size portion she liked it not fishy smell/taste as all. -6oz. CENTER CUT FILET with PANKO FRIED SHRIMP. I liked my dish the shrimp were huge, crispy and not greasy at all. I'd get this again. -JUMBO LUMP CRAB CAKES creole remoulade, mango tartar sauce, whipped yukon gold potatoes, grilled asparagus. Hubby got this dish it was really good, two huge patties a lot of lump crab meat hardly any breading which he likes and me too. -SEARED GEORGES BANK SCALLOPS lemon asparagus risotto, fennel, basil oil, balsamic glaze. My brother got this dish which he enjoyed. The scallops were pretty big. -We also ordered another steak soft and how we wanted the steak cooked (medium rare, juicy soft and pink in the middle) and a burger with fries (that was not on the dinner menu but they were able to accommodate. The Good: Chipotle Grilled Shrimp Enchiladas: This dish is like a rainbow of goodness in your mouth. From the freshness of the salsa, the lather of cream cheese and tang of the chipotle sauce with hint of lime, to the tender bits of shrimp in every bite - the flavors in this dish made it one of my favorites of the evening. We opted to split a Lobster bisque - and immediately regretted not getting one for each of us. The lobster was tender and cooked perfectly. The bisque was creamy and flavorful. The Bad: We ordered their 12 oz strip steak medium rare. The steak came out well-done. We let the server known and he had another one ordered for us immediately. The Ugly: Waited 20 mins for another steak to come out - came out medium plus/medium but we didn't want to be THOSE diners that sent it back yet another time (and also had a show to catch), so we finished our meal and asked for the bill. Steak was okay - not great. But I guess Devon is more known for it's seafood entrees then steak, or so I've heard. I still like this place a lot. See my earlier reviews. The ambiance is sophistry, the staff couldn't be nicer, they are delightful and professional. The food is good. If they added sound in the bar area for the TV ' s it would be an outstanding place for an executive sports enthusiast crowd to go for game watching. Now, with no sound, not do much. I'm not your typical sports enthusiast, but I do see an opportunity to attract a larger vibrant and high margin alcohol drinking crowd to their underutilized bar area. The restaurant area is separate from the bar area so I believe it is possible to host a bar crowd and a dining crowd simultaneously. The restaurant investment cost is already a sunk cost, why not maximize throughput (and profit), appeal to a broader base of customers and give us another great go to destination in the Oakbrook area. I'm sure the wonderful staff would also appreciate the additional business. I'm still a fan! read more

My friends and I came here for the Wednesday happy hour and lobster. The service was excellent and we had a great time. We were there throughout the entire happy hour duration and although it got pretty crowded at its peak, there were always a couple tables empty for people to be able to sit and eat. It is a pretty large bar area. Lobster that day was $13 for a 1 lb lobster. As you would expect, it came with lemon to squirt and butter for dunking delicious lobster meat. We also got quite a number of oysters. Five different varieties were available that day, $1 each. (The Devon Seafood Grill in the city on Chicago Ave are now $2 per oyster and last time I visited, there were only 2 varieties to select from). Checked in on Yelp for a free calamari appetizer. Although it seems like a huge pile of fried calamari at first, half of it was fried filler of root vegetables/jalapenos/other things. Still delicious (and again, free) but a little disappointing because I hoped for more calamari! We will definitely come back another Wednesday in the future. read more

Bartender couldn't have been nicer and our evening was perfect. It was just a matter of time before we went to this joint. We loved Braxton and naturally we'd need to try this place to see if it measured up to what Braxton had to offer. It's practically the same joint. The food was good and the service was even better. It's just like we loved and equally excellent. Had various fish entrees at our table, but I had the delicious swordfish with scalloped sweet potatoes and haricot verts and I was in yummy heaven. Pair that with a glass of white wine and man. Ah, week-ends. Go early or suffer the consequences. After trying for a table at a couple places near the mall and cringing at the idea of an hour wait, my companion and I drove around and came across Devon. Mutually agreeing upon seafood, we decided that we would wait no matter how long. Amazingly, the hostess said it was a mere 15 minutes, but then seconds later we were being spirited to a table. The place was busy yet not noisy, with a dim atmosphere, each table spotlighted with a lamp directly above it. The menu holds many intriguing items, but we chose quickly. My companion opted for the maple-grilled salmon, which actually came on a round of wood (as advertised). I cobbled together my meal from items on the appetizer menu: a bowl of mussels in lemon and white wine (excellent!) and shrimp scampi (a different approach than usual: a richer sauce, not just melted garlic butter, but quite delicious). We had to restrain ourselves from outright gobbling down the signature bread: cheddar peppercorn biscuits with a surprisingly harmonious maple butter. Dessert was good but not especially memorable: key lime pie was an actual small pie (nice when two people were sharing :p), but the "marascino-pineapple relish" appeared to be straight-up fruit cocktail, and the mango sorbet was too astringent. The pie would have been fine solo. Our server, Mark, was smooth and professional. Overall, quite a great dining experience for the seafood lover. Devon is divine; I'll be back! read more

I also got the fried calamari was a little disappointed with the overflow of carrots and jalapeños, not a lot of pieces of calamari super disappointing. The Devon cosmo it was ok, not bad. My family and I came here for my sisters birthday, we called in advanced to them, and they handed us the menu with a slip that said happy birthday Elizabeth on it. I think that is really awsome and the staff was very friendly and wished my sister a happy birthday. The food was incredible so do not fill up on the delicious biscuits. For $48 I got the lobster bisque which was served table side, lobster tail (HUGE), sides of mash potatoes and lobster Mac and cheese ($4 extra) and lastly creme brûlée (which i had to take home because I was extremely full). I wanted to report to you what has happened to our family members after eating at your restaurant. I called the food poisoning hotline (Todd 1800-222-1221) as I thought I needed to go to the hospital. I wasn'tsure if it was me getting sick or the what, but after vomiting Saturday night at 4am in the morning, I knew it was the oysters, because they came out. I then found out my Daughter in law was sick with the same symptoms and decided to reach out to my familymembers to see if anyone else was sick. Todd suggested I call The DuPage Health center and report this incident. Because Reporting illnesses to your local health department helps them identify potential outbreaks of foodborne disease and this is no coincidence. I feel horrible in the sense I had a wedding luncheon for son, and my immediate family came out from out of town (Texas) to be present, then to get sick. Food poisoning can kill people. I had my senior family members in their 70's (3 ofthem) and one in a wheel chair, and one family member has cancer to all be sick from food. This is unacceptable from a restaurant. We had a wedding luncheon on Friday December 13, 2019 from noon to 3pm. There were 18 people in our party. 16 Adults and 2 children. We ordered H'orderves: Out of the 18 people in attendance, 13 people got sick, with the same symptoms.Vomiting, diarrhea, headache, body ache, stomach pain. Those 13 people all ate the Oysters. The 3 adults and 2 children that did not eat the Oysters are fine and didn't get any symptoms of being sick. 1. Goat Cheese Bruschetta 2. Oysters on the half shell Everything up to that was perfect! The food was actually tasty and it was a really nice atmosphere. Now my family will think of that place as that is where I got food poisoning at my son's wedding luncheon. This is a gem in Oakbrook. Great seafood and steak. A coworker and I decided to try this place for lunch. They have outside seating which was great for a beautiful day. They have a great beer selection. Service was also great. Because we checked in on Yelp, we got a few appetizer of calamari. It was done perfect. We also ordered mussels. This seafood and steak restaurant is located in a strip mall. It's very spacious and accommodating. We had a nice meal here and our server was pretty attentive. I had the Japanese seven spice salmon which was very bland. My friend raves about the scallops and they were at the usual standard. If I had to order again I would get the tuna which was excellent. The shrimp cocktail I had had some HUGE shrimp. We shared a few appetizers among the large group and they were pretty good. Came here for dinner on my birthday on Sunday. The food was delicious the only reason they didn't get 5 stars was because of the service. Our server wasn't much help in picking a wine and after we did be brought it with only two glasses for my mother and I. We didn't see him again for another 10 min and my father had to flag him down to order a drink. Everything else was fine aside from my plate of food came out a few min before my parents and it was missing a crab cake. Someone with long hair that was almost touching the plate (a manager?) brought it out before I got to ask my waiter about it but I still feel like this shouldn't happen at a place that is $200+ for three people. Our waiter kept running off as though he was extremely busy but the place wasn't packed and I saw other servers on the floor so I'm not sure what that was about. Sorry Devon, you missed the mark on your steak this time.... I was really looking forward to the filet and shrimp on the prix fixe menu. Everything up to this point was exquisite. The lobster bisque was indeed one of the best I have had. I truly enjoyed the blue point oysters. My palette was completely satisfied and left my anticipating the steak. Then to receive it and there be no taste in the steak, the most important part of the dinner was very disappointing. I had to ask you salt, pepper and even steak sauce. Who puts steak sauce on a rare steak? I had no choice at this point, couldn't even finish it. I'm hoping we can slightly recover during dessert. Don't get me wrong, the staff and the rest of the meal was very much on point. I'm just sad the steak was not. I have been to Devon more times than I can count but, last night was absolutely terrible. I didn't want to post this anywhere publicly but you guys need to know about it. I came in with a friend for dinner we had some cauliflower app and it was great. Our oysters were not good, we didn't even finish them. Granted they were the $1 happy hour oysters but still not good, they didn't even taste fresh. Then as I was bragging about your wild caught salmon, we were informed it's actually farm raised even though it states a bay name next to it. Very sneaky. I was disappointed to learn that the only wild caught fish you have were the mahi mahi and the ahi. So, finally I ordered the seafood stew with the muscles, fish and scallops in a tomato white wine sauce. Two of my muscles were served to me closed....the scallops were over cooked and the whole meal was just unpleasant. I didn't want to make a scene so, I didn't say anything. Her charred veggie platter was not good either, $19 for some grilled veggies is definitely not worth it but was the only vegan option on the menu aside from A couple sides so she had to get it. (Filet & fried shrimp). I ordered my filet medium rare & it was perfectly prepared. I didn't care much for their fried shrimp. It was nothing special about it. Seemed like regular grocery store boxed shrimp. The drinks were good too. Their servers seem really uptight & not genuine this is the same service I received back in February.
