I stopped by the Webster Groves Dewey's last night for some good ole pizza and wine! I sat at the bar. If your alone it's the best spot in the house because you can talk to other folks, you can watch them make the pizzas through the kitchen window, and what the kiddos mesmerized by the kitchen people. It's really a treat. I started my meal out with a glass of the Zin-Phomaniac. I am not typically a zin drinker, but it was recommended to me by the manager who raved about it. She was right it was fantastic. Balanced- not too juicy or dry. For pizza, you've got to take them up on the half and half. A lot of places charge for it, it's totally the way to go so that you can try a couple specialty pizzas. You can create your own, too. I went with half Bleu Ribbon and half Green Lantern. You truly can't go wrong with any specialty pizza. They let you modify them Incase there's an ingredient you don't enjoy. Great beer and wine, food, and teamwork. Love this place. read more

Came here a few times but will definitely be a life long customer now. Our family from Austria was leaving the next day, and wanted to eat out one last time. today what was obviously an honest mistake our server didn't add 2 toppings on 2 different pizzas (not the end of the world). We were okay with it, but the manager took it upon herself to comp not one, but both of the pizzas with the missing topping. On top of that she wanted to send us home with 2 more pizzas with the right toppings when we clearly were already happy for her not charging us for the 2 pizzas. This to me is more than just about $40 in pizzas, but shows me how well they treat their customer base and we couldn't appreciate their effort more. Easily 5 stars on customer service alone, and the pizzas have always been delicious! read more

"The game starts at 7." "So... Pizza? We have an hour and 10 minutes if we leave now. How about Dewey's? It has good ratings on Yelp!" That was the conversation that preceded the trip to Dewey's on a somewhat cold and rainy Saturday afternoon. Putting the Christmas tree together and decorating used up all my energy and after being at work for 10 hours, I was in no mood to be playing chef. The place was packed and there was a 15-20 minute wait for a table. While waiting, I was entertained by the pizza making, dough-throwing process along with the children pressing their noses close to the big glass window, watching in awe. It was fun to watch! Twenty minutes later, a table became available. I started with a side order of Greek salad which was brought to the table rather quickly. I do appreciate the fact that they don't use iceberg lettuce here for their salads. I really feel like I am getting proper nutrients from my salad instead of just watery leaves. With that said, I loved the flavors of their Greek salad. It is so different than anywhere else! I am not an expert on salads by any means but one word... yummylicious! The pizza was wonderful and was delivered to the table rather quickly as well. Tangy sauce, great cheese consistency, and they weren't shy when it comes to the toppings! I loved both halves and would order it again the same way. The service was fast and friendly. I like this place, it's close to home, and will definitely be back! I am going to start off to say that I love Dewey's Pizza but I am leaving one star because they tried pulling a fast one on me. Well... they actually did. I want to also say that I am a good tipper when it's appropriate but the tipping culture has gotten waaaaayyy out of hand. I don't believe that I need to tip someone if I am going inside to retrieve an online order. It isn't the customers responsibility to subsidize employee's wages when the employer doesn't want to pay them a living wage. But I digress.... Anyway- so I did not tip for my online order, I immediately received a message that said that my order was rejected because the volume of online orders was too high and that I can try to order for a later time. I went right back and added a tip and my order went through. SHOCKING. Nice way to force people to tip- they should put up a message that says no tip- no food. This is a very nice pizza place. The atmosphere is nice, service was fast and friendly, and the pizza was great. We arrived on a Saturday night, but only had to wait a few minutes for a table and once we ordered our pizzas arrived quickly. We had the special Ball Park pizza which was spicy mustard, bratwurst slices, and sauerkraut. It was really good, but might be a little too spicy for some. We also had the Edgar Allan Poe which was a great vegetarian pizza with goat cheese, kalamata olives, tomatoes, and roasted garlic. All very good. read more

I've been here twice so far and I'll definitely be visiting many more times. It was by far the best pizza I've had in my life. The special pizzas menu had a great variety, with various kinds of meat and veggie pizzas. Rather than the host just standing at the host stand doing nothing she was walking around helping to bus tables and checking in on people, I was also seated quickly after arriving both times I went. The server was amazing asking if I had ever been there been before and went through the whole menu with me giving me recommendations and making it a great experience. The food did take a little while to come out, but it was hot and fresh from the oven when I got my pizza. Their white sauce is actually an olive oil and roasted garlic sauce, but it was delicious. The prices are fair for amount and quality of food you're getting. Overall it had a very welcoming atmosphere, great food, and great service. read more

I was like, eh I'm in no rush for a pizza place. Wrong! My hockey team was playing in Kirkwood on a Saturday night and of course we needed some grub after two back to back games. Dewey's was pitched and off we went. We rambled in about 8:45/9pm-ish so parking wasn't bad and they were able to seat our group of 10 right away. *Don't be like us...give them a shout before you show up for a big group.* After looking over the menu, I settled on a soda and the calzone, which includes 3 toppings...or stuffings I guess we should call them. Pepperoni, mushrooms, and white onions fit the bill for me on this night. A few of my teammates split pizzas (13"/2 people), others opted for the calzone as well. No one was disappointed! The food came out really quickly. The bread was slightly sweet and just melted in my mouth. It wasn't super thick, so good stuffing to crust ratio. The red sauce was to die for, thick with a smidge of spice. The pizzas looked really tasty, so I'll be back to dig into one of those. The hostess and waitress were super friendly and accommodating. All in all, my tab was about $12, so very reasonable. Dewey's was great for our adult group, and would be great for a family outing or friends night out. Definitely worth the stop in. read more

If u want a great pizza u have to go by Dewey's now, their Arugula fontina red onion prosciutto rosemary (u can hold the rosemary) white pizza, my favorite seasonal pizza. The salads are always exceptional here, the Harvest (which comes out in the Fall) and the candied walnut with grapes is fabulous, occasionally the salads are a little "dry", but u can always ask for more dressing, still better than the salads at other places that are drenched in dressing. Wish they had wine but the beer is usually good with nice variety. Service has improved, it used be so overwhelming that u felt like u we're going to be pushed out, seems like they have learned to be less aggressive in clearing tables. That's good, they seem to find the right balance between cleaning up a table but knowing when to leave customers peace. Just wish they had some homemade breadsticks! read more

We occasionally get a pizza from the Kirkwood Dewey's. On May 5th, 2022, I accidentally ordered a pizza from the Webster Groves Dewey's. The young woman I spoke to said the pizza would be ready in 30 minutes. I arrived at the Kirkwood location and walked in at 25 minutes. After a few minutes of confusion and realizing my mistake, I called the Webster location and said I would be there in 10 or 15 minutes. They said no problem. I got there in about 10 minutes (they're only a couple miles apart) and let them know I was there. After about 10 minutes of waiting, I double-checked to be sure they had our order. They did. After another 10 minutes of seeing a lot of people come in and pick up their pizza orders, I asked about our order and they said it should be ready any minute. Finally after almost 15 more minutes, they called my name and I got our pizza, an hour and and a quarter after I ordered it. And I should have opened the box and checked the pizza before I left, because some was missing (see photo). And, to top it off, the crust was under-cooked on our pizza that took over an hour to produce. In the future, I'll be double-checking to make sure I'm calling the Kirkwood location. My advice for this location is be careful, and at the very least, check your pizza before you leave with it. read more

This is one of our go to Sunday night dinner spots! It's a very nice pizza and salad joint. They have a pizza for everyone's different taste. The salads are amazing, the harvest salad is seasonal but it comes with figs pumpkin seeds and goat cheese. My other favorite is the peppercorn ranch. This is your more traditionally red onion, bacon and cheese salad. Always need to add the chicken for the extra texture and protein! I have never had a bad experience with deweys. If you got there enough you can join their rewards program through Thanx! (I believe.) you just have to link your card and when you pay it gets automatically added to your Thanx account. After $100-110 you get $10 or so dollars off. You get a free side salad for just creating the account. If you are looking for a nice causal place to enjoy some beer/wine with your pizza or salad, this is the place to try! read more

let me start off i usually really love dewey's! i go to the one in kirkwood usually and i didn't even know there was one in webster! i live 5 minutes away and i wanted to check out the closer location! i ordered my usual no mozzarella extra goat cheese. in kirkwood it usually covers the entire pizza and i thought same restaurant it's gotta be the same right? i guess that's not the case so when i looked at the pizza in the restaurant it was a few spots of goat cheese, lots of red sauce showing. i didn't know that when i ordered and i felt really bad so i apologized, explained it was my first time and asked if the pizza was extra goat cheese. the purple haired girl at the counter immediately got snippy and said it WAS extra. okay excuse me how could i be so stupid. i felt bad and asked if i could get another pizza with extra extra goat cheese (i was fully ready to pay) but she just called back the pizza. so i sat down and waited for it. this other server who seemed very nice asked the purple haired girl about the pizza, who immediately went around the corner to talk about it across the bar. Now i am a server, and i know what talking shit about a guest looks like. the brown haired girl was very nice, didn't say anything mean which i appreciated but you could tell just from her responses "oh" and "well" that the purple haired girl was clearly talking shit about me. i applaud the other browned hair girl who had a really positive attitude and said how valid it was to want more goat cheese (even if she didn't really mean it, it was nice of her to say that since i was right there.) i didn't say anything i just watched the interaction. i really don't want to come to a restaurant where i can clearly tell the staff is talking shit when there is a problem. Anyway i got the new pizza and it kind of looked like the same amount of cheese but i just accepted it and left. when i got home i just merged the cheeses off the two pizzas together. Now, i had no problem that the extra goat cheese pizza wasn't like Kirkwoods. i understand that. I was willing to pay for the extra extra cheese. I just think the purple haired girls attitude was unnecessary and she should conceal it better. Her attitude and reactions pushed me to rate 2 stars. Don't be in the service industry if you can't properly hide your distaste of the guest! I did enjoy my pizza though, the crust could be cooked a little more but still good! I really love this Dewey's location, and everything about their pizza... my cousin, godson & I stopped in after seeing the lights at Candy Cane Lane (SO cool by the way) and there was a bit of a wait, but we decided that wasn't a big deal... the hostess said it'd just be about 20-30 minutes. This is SUCH a fun place for kids for the simple fact that they can look through the window and the pizzas being tossed, loaded with ingredients, and put in the oven. Little man is six and stared through the glass, and every once in a while the guy making the pizzas would throw a handful of flour at the glass at him. So funny! Definitely helps pass the time while you wait. You can also grab a drink at the bar, or sit there while your table gets ready. (You can also eat at the bar, too, but obviously not ideal when you have little ones with ya.) Service is always great here and I had a great glass of cabernet (I swear it was magical cabernet, too... I had a headache all day until I drank that one glass.) The salads are all so good and I went for the seasonal choice that was loaded with tangy cheese and pumpkin seeds - yum! The 1/2 order is a decent size by itself. For pizza, I've gotta recommend the Edgar Allan Poe. It comes loaded with olive oil, mozzarella-fontina blend, mushrooms, roasted garlic, kalamata olives and goat cheese, with fresh tomatoes and parsley after the bake. The chunks of whole roasted garlic alone are worth every penny. The kiddo had a cheese pizza which I also appreciated... just perfectly done. For dessert, definitely get the chocolate torte they offer from Cravings... yum! There's so much to like about Dewey's and I'm glad we have 'em in the STL. read more

Dewey's has been a family favorite for many years in Webster. I'm a fan of their crispy-chewy crust and always ordered our pizzas crispy/well done. Unfortunately, on my last visit, I discovered they swapped out their traditional brick ovens for a conveyer belt pizza oven. They crust isn't nearly as good. It's no secret I love Dewey's, I've pretty much plastered that all over my previous two reviews of the other locations. However, this is a very generous 4 stars because I don't think the new location is quite up to snuff. I can't think of the last time I've been so constantly assaulted by waiters and waitresses in one sitting. I'm sure they pride themselves on quick service and not neglecting the customer, but this was so overboard I was completely annoyed by the time I was finished with my pizza. Practically every 3 minutes someone was over checking on us. It was so overboard, they just need to settle down and relax. I feel like everyone was on hyperdrive. That being said, the food was still good and the interior was like any other Dewey's. I have a feeling this will be more like the Kirkwood location than the U City location because I went in around 6 on a Thursday and the place was pretty packed. Complete with screaming kids. Awesome. I think I'll have to stick to U City until Webster get its kinks worked out. read more

Dewey's is an old favorite of mine. I'm originally from Cincinnati, which, I believe, is where Dewey's began. I went a lot throughout high school. Coming to STL for college, I was very excited to see them opening around there! Dewey's has some awesome pizza options because they offer such a variety of toppings. Some of our favorites include Socrates Revenge, Green Lantern and basically anything with a lot of meat on it! They also have some pretty incredible salads! Although I was a vegetarian for twelve years, I never liked salads....until I tried Dewey's Grape and Candied Walnut Salad with their amazing Basil Dressing!!! I frequently go to Dewey's just for this salad and add Amish Chicken to it. They usually have a great Harvest Salad in the fall with pumpkin seeds, Boursin Cheese and bacon. I strongly encourage you to check out their seasonal salad and pizza because they're usually pretty boss! read more

When we got into St. Louis, it seemed like everyone was raving about Dewey's Pizza and their white sauce. So today we ordered four pies: Socrates Revenge, Wild Mushroom, Caprese, and Hawaiian (with white sauce). The Socrates was worth the hype. The fontina, feta, olives, and spinach make for a creamy, salty surprise that is worth braving the crowds to have. The Wild Mushroom was mushroom-ocopia--literally, mushrooms everywhere. Delicious if you like mushrooms. If you don't, don't bother trying to pick them off, the Wild Mushroom will when. The Caprese has a lot of potential. The tomatoes were fresh, and the pie looks super appetizing. Overall, though, I find the white sauce a bit bland. Come to think of it, the mozzarella cheese, too. This pizza felt like it needed a dose of salt and pepper, so "P-pushed It Real Good," and it was great. The Hawaiian with white sauce struggled to hold its ingredients. It was forks and fingers all the way with this one, and it was least impressive of the lot. With all of these great ingredients, I wasn't expecting canned pineapple. My wife and I are split on this place. I give it a solid three, but she rates it much higher; so I've split the difference somewhat on this review. Some other highlights - the crusts are light, buttery and garlicky. You _will_ finish them. - the service is commendable. The guys behind the counter are entertaining. I am a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur so be prepared when I announce that this is my #1 favorite pizza in the world. I've tried slice after slice in multiple establishments and this is my favorite, by far. The menu is simple, but sufficient. They offer regular salads and pizzas in delicious combinations. I always get a Caeser salad and X-Pepperoni pizza (Hey, I know what I like!). My fiancé always gets the Greek salad (and he is one to always mix it up, which goes to show how delicious this is!) and usually the Bronx Bomber (a supreme of sorts). They also have a seasonal salad and pizza to offer. The food is ah. maze. ing. Ingredients are fresh, crisp, and delicious. The X-Pep pizza is a touch spicy, but that's what makes it so good. The dough, the sauce, the cheese, the toppings, it's ALL good. Be prepared for a wait, even in the late evening on a week day. Dewey's is delicious and people know it, so don't rush perfection! Service is always good as they seem to have a co-op method of service where you have multiple servers. This is my favorite spot for pizza and can't wait to go back! read more

Dewey's is set in a smaller, trendy, minimalist space. The pizza was great. We ordered a buffalo chicken pizza and a Dr. Dre pizza (olive oil, mozzarella cheese, green peppers, red onions, amish chicken, bacon, & jalapeños with diced tomatoes & ranch after the bake). They have exotic toppings if you're into that sort of thing. My friend thought Dewey's pizza is the best in the St. Louis area. I wouldn't go that far, but it is darn good. The prices are fair. The service was tremendous. Dewey's had several servers working and they did a wonderful job taking care of the customers. It took a few minutes longer than I expected to receive the pizza, but it was Saturday night and the restaurant was busy. read more

Got the calzone this time, and it was still good, but too much bread with no "filling". I'm a cheese person, when I ask for extra, extra cheese, give me all the cheese you got, I expect it and I don't mind paying for it. Now, even though I'm somewhat complaining about all the excess bread, I will say it was not a really thick layer of bread and I did actually eat all of it, thus my rating. My dad, son and I ordered online ahead but then decided we wanted to dine in instead. Came inside and hostess told us we couldn't do that. I explained we would put our name on the wait list (there was no one else in line and at least three open tables) and order something else at the table. We were seated and having drinks waiting for our food to finish when manager told us we violated their policy and needed to leave. I explained we had already ordered and paid for a $24 pepperoni pizza, two $12 salads, two $8 beers, and a $3 soda, and that all we did by ordering ahead was save them 30 minutes of prep during busy time. He said we could stay but don't let it happen again. Seriously? I just spent $80 in 20 minutes for cold pizza and warm beer with open tables all around us. What the hell difference did it make that we ordered ahead. This place is full of itself. read more

Ordered Dewey's during the stay home orders and there were incredibly efficient! They were very clearly abiding by the sanitary standards and did not compromise the taste in their food. Absolutely love their pizza....and you have to try the Peppercorn Ranch Salad! read more

Pizza in St Louis is always a debated topic, especially the crust. If you want a more traditional pizza crust, then Dewey's is the place to stop. They have a good selection of beer on draft. The salads are fantastic. I can vouch for the House, Caesar, my favorite the Harvest. Unfortunately, the Harvest is a seasonal selection only available in the fall. For pizza choices I can vouch for the Bronx Bomber, Meatball, or the Porky Fig. If you have a small group and individualized tastes they will make any pizza half-n-half at no extra charge. read more

Dewey's is always packed. Whether the Ucity or Webster location, i've ALWAYS had to wait for a table. Yet i never remember to go earlier to give myself extra time. Keep this in mind if you're on a tight schedule. Not sure if they take reservations or not. They have some great pizzas on their menu but i generally go with the build-your-own: red sauce, green olives, Canadian bacon. Perfection. The interior has a small bar with seating, booths along the walls and tables in the middle of the dining room. Upon entering you'll see a window you can peek through to watch them make the pizzas. Nom nom nom. I LOVE Dewey's! I've been to the UCity location a bunch of times, but I live right around the corner from the Webster Groves location now, so I suppose this is my new Dewey's home! Woo! I'm on a self-imposed 'eat healther' diet, so I went with the seasonal salad, The Harvest. According to the menu, it had "A mix of Field Greens and Romaine Lettuce, with Figs, toasted Pumpkin Seeds, Boursin Cheese and Apple Wood Smoked Bacon, tossed with our Apple Cider Honey Vinaigrette". I had chicken added to it for a couple bucks more, just to make it a little more substantial. One word: MMM. I don't like figs, so I asked for the salad without that, but everything else? DELISH. The apple cider honey vinaigrette? I wish I could BATHE in it! It was sweet, with just a hint of tartness, and it went perfectly with the salad. The greens were super fresh, and there was enough bacon to make me feel better about eating a salad. Oh, and the toasted pumpkin seeds! I found myself digging through the salad toward the end to make sure every last crunchy seed went into my belly. YUM! The service at Dewey's is always top notch, and this visit was no exception. Our glasses were always filled, and the staff bent over backwards to ensure that our visit was pleasant. I love Dewey's. LOOOVE! Oh, and their pizzas are good too. :) read more

The use of fresh, and maybe haughtier, ingredients than a usual pizza place makes it a keeper. I like that you can get white/olive oil base, although they can be a little dry... The salads are always deep green and fulfilling - and their House Salad gets recreated by me on the regular - but deep down, can you really trust a pizza place that doesn't serve hot wings? read more
