There are a lot of great pizzas in Saint Louis, but only one place tops the list across all categories- you guessed it- Dewey's Pizza. Since I was turned on to Dewey's years ago, I've visited numerous locations, numerous times all over the Saint Louis Metro area. And every time, EVERY TIME, everything is always excellent across the board; the flavor and variety of their pizzas, the shear originality of their pizzas (represented by their pizza of the month), service, restaurant space and cleanliness and price! This last time I went with the Steph and ordered the 'Socrate's Revenge.' As is typical, it rocked my socks off. And let me just say that it is not an easy thing to balance traditionally Greek flavors on a pizza, something that ought to prove the craftsmanship and worth of the Dewey's pizzateers. The fresh ingredients, expert seasoning and tender crust are consistently exceptional, and this last time was no exception. And the thing about Dewey's is that they do everything well- pizzas, calzones AND salads. AND SALADS?!?! Yes, even salads! And, as I said, the service is exceptional. ALWAYS. I credit that to Dewey's unique serving system; First, I don't believe servers have an assigned area. All servers are constantly circling the entire restaurant, working together to ensure that everyone has a great dining experience. Second, (and quite possibly the most GENIUS thing I've ever seen in the restaurant business) is their color coding of soft drinks. Each drink, be it water, diet coke, or lemonade, gets a certain colored straw or a set of straws. That way whenever anyone runs low on drinks, any server can refill you without even asking! The first few times this happened it was like magic. FREAKING MAGIC! LOL! Kudos to Deweys for a fine establishment, built with one foot in the tradition of providing a quality product at an affordable price and the other firmly in the innovative future. read more

This might be a biased review, but I am still going to share it. I worked at Dewey's Pizza for over two years, and I'm not sure how many people can say this who have worked in food service, but I LOVE and ENJOY going back to Dewey's for dinner. The atmosphere, staff and food are perfect. I will never get tired of their food. Why? Because they don't have a freezer. That means their ingredients are FRESH and carefully chosen. The dough is made IN TOWN - with their OWN recipe. They take their time perfecting the recipes as well as creating the wine and craft beer list. Just try it once. So I went here with my family, and I just had a weird experience. First I have to say the communication between employees is horrible, as it is team style service so you have multiple servers. If you ask for something from one, the others don't know. We first sat down and ordered right away. We then had another 2 servers come ask us if we were ready to order. We then asked for the heat to be turned up and they told us"it won't make a difference if we turn it up, it's still be cool". Shortly after that the manager came out to a different table and as he walked by our table said "it's cold in here, gotta turn the heat up" so we called him over and stated the waitress told us she would not turn the heat up. After this the food came out and the pizza was wrong, and I never even got my salad. Unfortunately the service was horrible but the pizza was quite good. So I should love to make this 5 stars but the service just is no good. The manager did his best to correct the issue so hats off to him. Give it a try but don't expect much from the service. Um, I have a confession. :whisper: Dewey's is better than Pi. :/whisper: YES! It's true! Awesome (seriously, awesome) service, great pizza choices, wonderful buttery, but not too thick pizza crust, fresh and tasty salads, AND craft beer! I love they let you split your pizza into halfs, to try more pizzas - they even let you mix them between their "red" sauce pizzas, and their "white" sauce pizzas. Genius! The toppings are always super fresh (the peppers and mushrooms taste like they were just picked that morning, seriously), and the service is seriously awesome. Good beer selection, and for a pizza place- pretty good wine selection (I've seen more than one of my personal favorites on there!) Definitely my favorite pizza place in the STL area. read more

Why haven't I heard about this place before?! 7pm on a Friday night, and we were told it would be a 20-minute wait for 2 people. OK, this places sounds popular - good sign. Seated closer to 10-15 mins. They have an interesting style of service, which my husband referred to as zone defense vs 1-on-1. We had contact w/ 9 employees, and all treated us like we were their 1 and only customer. It's hard to describe but works very well. I felt taken care of but not rushed or bothered. Now the menu. Different than usual beer selection. We had a Tornado Alley Amber and a Griesedieck Brothers Pilsner (~$4 ea). Then we grabbed an 11" small pizza and attempted to order 2 small seasonal strawberry greens salads ($4.95), but the server (I think it was the mgr) recommended we get 1 lg one ($6.95) to split to save money. And he was right, because it was huge. We split it and still had 1/2 left. They offer both a red sauce and a white sauce, and you can do your pizza 1/2-1/2 and try both. We split ours into 1/2 Bronx Bomber and 1/2 Billy Goat. Both were excellent. It's a thin crusty but not a typical crispy thin crust, and there is a tasty crust on the edges. There is a waiting area with windows so you can see the kitchen staff making the pizzas, complete with pizza tossing. The whole place has a loft-feeling to it - few walls that go to the ceiling, exposed brick, silver air ducts criss-cross the ceiling. Eat at the bar, in booths, or at tables. HUGE salad and enough topping-packed pizza for 2 left us pleasantly full but not overstuffed. TOTAL after tax and good tip = $37. read more

We go to Dewey's about 1x per week and it is our favorite pizza in St. Louis. It can get busy for dinner so plan on getting their early if you don't want to wait. The kitchen area is all glass and the pizza chefs are very good when it comes to putting up with all the kids who pound on the glass, make faces, and try to interact with them. Our kids always enjoy watching them make the pizza through the window (it's a nice distraction while waiting for a table). Everyone at this location is very nice and they usually remember us and always treat our family great! Our favorite pizzas happen to be seasonal: The Tito Santana - by far the best taco pizza I've ever had and the Don Corleone - red sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, salami, capacola ham and oregano is our absolute favorite! It's not uncommon to have multiple servers coming to your table to do various things like take your order, give you refills, get you another drink, and bring you your check. One time we received the wrong pizza and the manager took it off our bill and gave us a gift certificate for a future visit. Very classy. This was my first Dewey's experience. Won't be my last. The chewy crust? Awesome! The specialty pizzas? Amazing selection! I had the Billy Goat which was yum-o-licious, but could honestly have fared better from either more cheese or less tomatoes (who are we kidding here? MORE CHEESE!). The Harvest Salad was amazing (sans bacon for me). My friend & I split the salad and an 11" pizza, which made for a big lunch with leftovers for about $15 each after tax and tip. I had to mark down to four stars because there was no sauce on the pizza- even dry for allegedly having olive oil- and our waitress was a hot mess. She was frantic. She was polite, friendly and professional in taking my order, including some special order needs. I had never been to a Dewey's Pizza before going here with one of my St. Louis friends. He said that it's good and that he likes Dewey's pizzas in general. So he took me to this one. I had driven by it many times and never stopped to see it or eat there. We ordered a Brooklyn bomber pizza to split between the two of us. I had tea and he had a Coke. The Brooklyn Bomber pizza was a pepperoni pizza with extra veggies like onions, black olives, and green bell pepper put on top of it. The olives and other veggies were not completely cooked into the cheese on the pizza and was just sitting on top as if they cooked the pepperoni pizza first and then put the veggies on it later out of the oven. It tasted good to me, but I would have preferred the mushrooms to be completely cooked with the other veggies. The atmosphere was very family oriented; however, it was incredibly loud. I mean really, REALLY loud. The walls are bare brick and the ceiling was metal with the air ducts showing like large tubes. The sound bounces off those very easily and it was really loud to the point of annoying and if you have hearing problems, that could annoy you, too. There were almost no tables available when we got there so that told me that this location must be very popular to the Webster community. On the other hand, our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu and the drink menu, and that was helpful to me since I had never been there before. read more

Don't let my 3 star review deter you from trying this place. I liked Dewey's and I see why it's highly rated, but for me, it was nothing extraordinary. The interior is very functional. No art, flowers or anything to soften the place. But somehow it's still cozy. Kids will like the glass walls looking into the kitchen. The hand tossed crust was the best part of the pizza. We got 1/2 Cuban and 1/2 pepperoni. The sauce wasn't memorable, the toppings just ok. Personally, I prefer many other pizzas over Dewey's (see my pizza list). I've always really enjoyed Dewey's and was super stoked when one opened up in my hometown of Webster Groves in February. Of course I had to try it out, hoping that the service & food was as good as the other locations. I wasn't disappointed. This location of Dewey's can get crazy busy, like the other ones, because it's so darned GOOD. Parking can be an issue, but we didn't mind walking and we went pretty early for dinner (5pm) but didn't have to wait. After we ordered, I got up to wash my hands and there were already about 15 people waiting. We made it just in time! Dewey's salads are always fresh and delicious. I've tried almost all of them, but my favorite is the house salad, which comes with goat cheese, pine nuts and dried cranberries. I always order it with ranch dressing instead of balsamic because their ranch is delicious and I like to dip my crusts in it. I'm a spartan pizza eater, preferring just cheese. The best thing about Dewey's is you can order half and half, and it really is. You know how if you order half and half somewhere else, there is always some topping on your side that shouldn't be there? NOT at Dewey's. They do it so carefully that my boyfriend got a meaty one and I (a vegetarian) got cheese and didn't have to search out pieces of meat on my side. Another unique thing about Dewey's is that its red sauce is very zesty and has a kick to it unlike other pizzas I've had. It's great. Service is always good here. I've been to both the k-wood location and the Webster location. Can't say there is much difference. Both places have a very similar vibe and about the same amount of space. Bottom line -- I've tried a lot of pizza in STL and I keep coming back to the conclusion that Dewey's is the best. Better than Pi, Imo's, Racanelli's, Pizza a go go, katies etc. I don't know if it's the crust, the sauce or what, but it's just damn good. I've never been disappointed. We make our own creation - meatball, artichoke and spinach - freakin' awesome. It's so good that my brother (whose gotten the pizza with us b4) submitted our creation to the owners of Vin de Set who are opening their own pizza place, PWs, and they gave it a spot on their menu. My favorite thing about this Dewey's is it's quiet location halfway between downtown and Old Orchard. I brought my daughter here one night when Mom was traveling. We had a pepperoni and sausage pizza. Great crust - crispy but not too much, plenty of mozzarella cheese, tasty toppings...very good pizza. I also like the tag team approach to service - they all pitch in to make sure the customers get all the attention they want. On the downside, this might mean two people asking what you want to order, which happened to us, but I'll take a slight inconvenience in order to get all the attention I long for. The highlight of the meal was, of course, having a chance to get a good look at all the servers, who are all young and femaie. Please don't tell my wife I said that. Maybe I shouldn't put it in a review for all the world to see...hmmm. Anyway, go to Dewey's for good pizza. read more

We went to the Webster Groves Dewey's. It was a great experience. We had our daughter and there was a guy that was making pizzas behind the window that was putting on quite the show. He made a dough face for her on the window. She LOVED it! We all got our own pizzas and I ordered a salad too. The salad was great! Very fresh. The pizza I got was Socrates Revenge. I simply LOVE pizza. It's a complete meal - you get the carbs, dairy, protein, and veggies (if you desire) all in one big delicious bite. What could be more perfect?? Deweys Pizza has been a favorite of ours for years now. The food is always very fresh and the pizza is Always delicious. Today, I made the mistake of ordering the wrong Pizza. I just ordered the wrong one that was totally not what the family wanted. When the pizza came out I realized it was the wrong one and the manager was very kind. She had them make a replacement pizza that was the correct order and did not charge us for it. While I was waiting for my pizza I enjoyed watching the cooks interacting with the children behind the window. This is a great restaurant to bring your family to, and their small gesture of kindness today reiterated that they are exceptional at providing customer service as well. read more

Holy cow a review that is hot off the press! Considering that I just ate here tonight, it should be a good one. Have heard about Dewey's from time to time in conversation for the past like year and a half or so and have never been. Birthday was today and so I thought what better time than to try out Dewey's. The place was busy tonight and by busy I mean people waiting to the point that they were almost hovering over the table. There were several groups there and a bunch of kids. All the kids were watching the people make the pizza, even I watched. I thought it was pretty neat to watch and enjoyed the show as we waited for our table. We get seated and right away our server was there to get our drinks. I was really happy with how fast the waiter came by with our drinks, unlike in other places where we have to wait for awhile. Food was yummy. My friend and her boyfriend had split a small pizza, which looked yummy and was just the right amount for the two of them. My other two friends and I split a Green Lantern, instead of the red sauce we switched it for white sauce. I told the server that I had a slight allergy to tomatoes. She promptly asked how bad it was so as to make sure the kitchen knew. I was thankful for that and told her it wasn't super bad. The Green Lantern was delicious. The mix of veggies and pesto on the pizza was the right amount. I enjoyed the taste of it. My only complaint was that the pizza was a little salty in some spots. I know I'm in the minority here, but going to Dewey's for the first time was kind of a let down. People had been talking about how amazing this pizza was for so long and when I finally tasted it, how could it be anything but a slight disappointment? Sure, it tasted good, and it satisfied my pizza craving, but it wasn't "blow your mind" good. It was thicker than STL thin crust, but thinner than deep dish pizza, and the toppings were fine. I don't remember feeling like it was anything too special. I had their candied walnut and grape salad which I remember not enjoying. The gorgonzola was way too powerful, taking flavor away from the dressing and sweetness of the grapes and walnuts. I think it would have been fabulous with feta or goat cheese, much more milder flavors to compliment the rest of the salad. I'm sure I'll have it again, knowing it's a favorite of friends, and I would like to give it another chance. For now, though, it falls in the category of, "Meh" for me. read more

We were very disappointed with Dewey's the last time we ordered from there. Ryan's Inferno with extra cheese was excellent, and the X-Pepperoni was very good, but the Dr. Dre was terrible, dry with almost no cheese on it. Just dried pieces of chicken and dried jalapeños on top -- pretty bad! Still fans of Dewey's, but Dr. Dre is coming off our list of pie options. read more

Service was prompt at the start with drinks but was rushed at the end with asking about plates being pulled as folks were still chewing and need a box for the slices left. We were there for about 45 min total for a party of 6 with two pizzas. Pizza was good but not a fan of feeling rushed out/need to turn a table...sour note to end on. read more

I need to start my review by professing my undying love for the Southwest BBQ Chicken pizza at Dewey's. It is probably my favorite thin crust pizza in St. Louis. The toppings are definitely the star here. The crust is good and the sauce is tasty, but the toppings is what sets it apart. It has the usual ingredients you would expect (chicken, BBQ sauce, etc), but the special touch for me is the addition of the black bean corn salsa. This is what, in my mind, takes it from being an average pizza to being an extraordinary one. I have also had the pepperoni and it was really good as well. I am looking forward to going back and trying some of their seasonal option. My only complaint and the reason I hold off on giving a 5 star review is the cost. If I go to Dewey's for takeout and get an 11" BBQ Chicken Pizza for just myself, I am spending $15. I usually do have leftovers, but I would like there to be an option (maybe a smaller pizza) to get the cost closer to $10. The medium pizza is enough for 2 people and at $18 is much more of a value. read more

Nearly a clone of the one in Kirkwood and the ones I loved back in Ohio. We didn't have the usual wait or parking issues. Not sure if that is a dinner time problem at this location or not. Lunch time we walked right in and it was terrific. No lunch discounts when I guess some other St. Louis options besides pizza can be a little more economical at lunch. I love all of their vegetarian pizzas. I eat meat, but when you go to deweys, you have to do vegetarian. They rock. The Edgar Allan Poe and Billy Goat come with generous portions of goat cheese which is always saltier than I expect. Wild Mushroom is a personal favorite. Also the server forgot to mention that we can do pizzas half one and half another. Oh well, I forgot too but I don't go to Deweys every day. Its a special treat we love to take home. Just 2 specialty pizzas instead of 4 at the same price is pretty disappointing and the only thing holding back 5 stars! read more

We love Deweys. The Kirkwood and UCity locations that is. Being in Webster tonight, we tried them. Very disappointed. A calzone was barren. Little to no filling. All crust. Good crust, but no filling. A pizza came with very sparse toppings. Just not anywhere as good as the same dishes at the other two locations. However our two salads were excellent and on par with salads fron the other two locations. We still love Deweys, just not the Webster store. read more

Deweys was one of my favorite pizza places buttttttttttttttttttt... Last time I was there, the toppings on the pizza were not that generous but generally good experience. Last night must have been a topping famine. Really bare bones toppings and the extra cheese we ordered was non existent. The pizzas we saw delivered to other tables were not much better and 2 had burnt crusts. Service was good as always. This was my first time coming to Dewey's and I honestly had an incredible experience The customer service here was unbelievable. I am pretty sure each and every waiter and waitress walked over to our table and asked us how our food was, or If we need anything. I know that this happens at every restaurant but I am being serious when I say EVERY waiter and waitress walked over and checked on us but not only us, everyone else eating as well. I really love places that leave this kind of impression on me! The manager or It could have been the owner of this particular Dewey's even thanked us. He should be so lucky having such an amazing staff The pizza on the other hand was delicious! I love love love the crust. It is by far my favorite thing about the whole pizza. We also enjoyed the salads and they were a decent size for the side size. I was very impressed by Dewey's and cannot wait to go back. This place got super busy and packed by 6 so come early! Just moved back in town and heard about Dewey's. Very cool atmosphere and great selection of craft beers on tap. The pizza was very good and I absolutely loved that you could get the specialty pizzas half and half! I had the Dante and Dr Dre. Both awesome. Is it the best pizza I've ever had? No, but it is very good and overall a cool place to dine. read more

Finally made it over to Dewey's as my softball friends have been raving about it. Stopped in around 8:30/9 on a Monday night and it was pretty empty. Service was attentive and pleasant. Ordered a half 'n half pizza with the Edgar Allen Poe and the Taco Pizza. I thoroughly enjoyed both types and they both reheated well in the toaster oven! The EAP is def more my jam as I'm into the kalamata olives, goat cheese, roasted garlic heaven it offers, but the Taco pizza was also surprisingly pleasant with just a slight teaser of some heat at the end. If you like leftovers, I've gotten 3 meals out of a medium pizza so it's not a bad bargain either. read more

I can't believe I have never left a review for this place. I have been coming here for a couple years now and it is one of myself, hubby, and the 3 year old brat Love this place. This is probably one of the best Pizza Places in STL...we have been to 4 of the locations and all taste as good as the others and the service is awesome as well. I have been to Webster, Kirkwood, Ellisville, and all the way in IL (Edwardsville) :-) I always get the traditional pizza with the red sauce, but if you are adventurous try the white pizza. I usually get that with my bff and with the hubs the red sauce. I prefer the red, but I am open. We even tried the Taco Pizza they had on special. Not bad but I am a traditional pizza girl. Also get their salads. They are really good also. I have had the majority of them and they are all really good. TIP: Their servers share tips, so they are all working hard and hustling. You may have the same wait staff getting your order, but anyone can get your drinks and refills. So you aren't waiting around hearing "let me get your server". The guys making the pizzas are fun also. They have a viewing area for the kiddos to look at them making the pizza and the guys get all into it (like throwing flour at the window, etc). I love St. Louis style pizza, but my local friends love this place so we went. We got a pepperoni and mushroom pizza, a Hawaiian pizza and a blueberry lemon salad. The crust was fabulously done. Tender, crispy, better than most I've had. The salad with the house dressing was huge and fresh. I don't like iceberg lettuce, and there wasn't a piece to be found in their salad. Romaine and other greens, nuts and blueberries, parmesan cheese-great salad. They have red sauce pizza and white sauce pizza and an impressive menu of choices. The service was fast and friendly. Good pizza but not my favorite. I love the provel thin crust pizzas elsewhere. read more
