I finally tried Kevin's Place! I've heard of his amazing pizzas and somewhat smart attitude, and I was not disappointed. The first time I called was for a delivery order. Kevin answered and I ordered my pizza, sausage and pepperoni. My spouse asked me to order some wings too, so I asked for some naked wings, but I had no idea what flavor. I felt a little rushed by Kevin, and ended up ordering the naked wings with sweet and sour sauce which I later found wasn't really what my spouse was wanting (oops). Kevin himself delivered the pizza! He was actually very pleasant. My spouse and I started with the wings. They were phenomenal. I was super impressed at how perfectly they were cooked and how delicious they were. I would at the moment say they are my favorite wings in town. I didn't expect the pizza to be thin crust, but it didn't matter to me, I was just really excited to try out his pizza. The pizza was really good, just like others had told me. Yippie! I am so glad that Kevin's Place relocated closer to my home. I heard such great things about his pizza, but never went down to Cherokee to experience his masterpiece of a pizza pie. Now that he's only a mile and a half from my home, my waistline may be in danger. I was craving pizza for lunch and wanted to experience some place new, so I did a search on Yelp. Yeah, Yelp of all places of informed me of Kevin's new location. Seeing how close he was to my home, it was a no brainer to head on over for lunch. Kevin's Place has a small dining room and a good sized patio to enjoy your food. Reading reviews, I discovered they all raved about the wings as much as they did the pizza. So wanting the full experience, I had to have an order of them as well. I had my wing prepared, hot & sweet. The sweetness, toned down the hotness. They were flavorful and meaty. I like my wings to have equal portions of flats and drums, but my order was 2/3 drum and 1/3 flats. Since, I favor drums it was okay. My pizza was the bomb. I can easily say it is in my top three for quick pizza delivery pizza. It was a typical thin crust pizza and it was nice and crisp. I had mine topped with sausage, jalapeños and onions. It was so good, I couldn't control myself. I ate all of it, except for two squares. I really was hoping to take more home. At least, I took half the wings home for the afternoon snack. The small dining room is kinda cluttered, so don't judge by looking at the decor. If you do, you'll be missing out on some of the best pizza in the STL area. Kevin already has a reputation in town for being a bit of a curmudgeon, which I can certainly confirm. The upside of the new location is that he has an employee working with him, so they can offer delivery while the shop's still open. Kevin should really have his assistant answer the phones, since it's clear (from my experience and other reviewers' testimony) that he doesn't enjoy talking to people and patiently explaining options. A cat goes in and out of the restaurant at will; I'm not sure how they get away with a clear FDA violation. There's ample patio seating for folks who want to pick up pizza and eat it there, but no table service. The pizza sauce is a little bit chunky, and in true St. Louis style the cheese is provel and sparingly applied. All in all the pizza's not bad, and ordinarily I'd want to frequent a locally owned shop, but so many other businesses are struggling and actually trying to treat all people decently, so Kevin's isn't a go-to for me. read more

They have done excellent advertising around the City. I see signs all time. I'm glad I finally made my way there. They have a "closed" sign on the door even though they are open. My friends and I decided to order from here right before they closed on a Sunday evening, just a couple of weekends ago when we were in town. The man who had picked up the phone introduced himself as Kevin, and he was explaining to us that he wouldn't be able to make certain pies due to not being able to prepare certain ingredients, how many other orders were ahead of ours, etc. We had all opted to get our own 12" pies, mine with mushrooms and jalapenos. A bit after we had ordered, we went by to pick our order. When we arrived, it looked like the place was closing up for the night and that we were probably the last customers to be coming by to pick up our food. Kevin came out and he seemed like a salt of the Earth type local, and we did like that. I imagine that he'd be a fun guy to grab a beer with. As for the actual pizza? I really liked my pie, as did my friends. I would say that I liked the pizza from here more than the ones from Imo's, probably because the pizzas from here were saucier. Let me start off by saying this was our first time to order from Kevin's. Kevin truly cares about the food and the customer. We decided to try and have it delivered through grub hub. Order was simple to place in Yelp. Then we receive a phone call from Kevin saying the grub hub driver didnt have the proper bag to bring our food hot and that he will be delivering it himself. This was a first for us. So within like 10 minutes from the phone call he had it to us. We were so surprised and grateful. The food was amazing. Ordered pizza for delivery, but should have looked at pizza (burnt bacon) before driver left. Very disappointed, call Kevin, his response was "since I ordered mozzarella cheese he had to cook it longer". I told him the cheese wasn't burnt & why didn't he tell me by ordering mozzarella cheese it would burn the bacon? Kevin responded by saying I was talking to my "peeps", I asked my coworker's did they want the regular cheese or mozzarella cheese, I'm assuming that is what he meant because the is the only time of my order that I was not talking to him. Kevin's Place is a cute little restaurant right next to The Mud House on Cherokee Street, aptly named for the owner Kevin. The menu is somewhat limited, as Kevin is the only employee at this time. From what I gather, Kevin specializes in thin crust, St. Louis style pizza and hot wings. Both of the menu items are pretty good...nothing spectacular but alright. There are few quirky things about Kevin's Place that one should keep in mind: - Kevin's Place delivers. And Kevin is the only employee. That means if he's out on a delivery, Kevin has to close up the shop and go make the delivery. So if you call or stop by while he's out, you either have to wait or move on. -The decor for a pizza/wing shop is very strange. The building used to be a cigar bar and has been decorated to reflect that. Leather couches and dark wood don't scream pizza and wings. At least not to me. Kevin himself is a very nice man and I very much like to support local business, so we try to eat there when he's around. We are BIG, BIG fans of Kevin's Place and LOVE this pizza. This is a small storefront type of place that kinda looks like he's cooking your pizza back in his own kitchen. The furniture is a mix of all sorts of different styles and there is a nice patio on the side to sit. This is kinda like going over to your uncle's place for dinner....there is even a cute cat to sit by you and beg for pizza. :) Most of the time we get out pizza delivered.....and he's usually pretty fast. This is a St. Louis style pizza and you have to be careful not to tilt the box or it will all slide to one side. Great pizza in a cute setting. We came after the yelp event at Whisk a block away. Kevin greeted us and we ordered a pizza to go with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. The pizza took less than 15 minutes...maybe even 10 min for it to be ready. We looked around the place and there is a really cute side area to dine outside with maybe 5 or so tables. Soooo 4 stars is not enough for this eclectic NoHa eatery. My son recently moved into the area and we got carry outs from there several times and I finally had to go get the full experience. Kevin is always there and it has a live little patio that would make you think it was a normal corner pizzeria but NNNNOOOOO... it is so much more. You walk in and there is a cat standing guard. When we can in there was another patron there who I thought was a delivery guy but he was just waiting for Kevin. We had called ahead and Kevin came out and ran my card through Square and took the other guys order and then disappeared in back after telling the other guy that his bacon and anchovies sounder "like shit". I'd like to clear the air about Kevin's somewhat mythical customer service. Kevin's Place is not for the faint of heart. The food is fantastic; I've never had a better pizza in my entire life. So this place is right next to The Mud House in Cherokee Antique Row. First of all I have to discuss the shop before I even get on about the food. Upon entering there was a cat that greeted me which I thought a little odd. It didn't really bother me as long as it didn't get into my food, which the cat didn't. I also thought that I might have entered the wrong place because it seriously looked like a house. Now about the pizza, I got a small one topping (sausage) pizza which cost about $7.50. You can choose either provel or mozzarella cheese, I got provel. I thought it was really good! I'm new to the area thus new to the St. Louis style pizza, this style of pizza is really thin crust. I personally liked it because I was able to eat more than the usual amount of slices because it wasn't full of dough. There was a generous amount of toppings and it wasn't oily and soggy. The owner is really nice. He had to make a delivery while my friend and I were there so he just went ahead and delivered and left us here. The pizza was pure perfection!! I ordered through Grubhub a super deluxe, which the grubhub driver abused and it slid to one end! I called Kevin's place directly to tell them of the issue from the grubhub driver and they went out of their way to deliver a fresh new non destroyed pizza! I get 'za from Kevin's Place a few times a month. It's one of the oddest places I've ever been to. In a good way. So Kevin's Place is this little pizza shop on Cherokee. Owned by Kevin. Operated by Kevin. Your pizza will be made by Kevin. Delivered by Kevin. Kevin is one busy dude. On his fliers/menus he also advertises his car rental business. Who knew? Kevin does St Louis style pizza, which I'm normally not a fan of. As my east coast mom always put it "WTF is this, it's like ketchup on a saltine." I don't like Elicia's and I don't like Imo's. But I like Kevin's! I find that the chain places always have this layer of grease atop their pizza. Then the pizza gets all soggy and you can't even lift it (especially the middle pieces!) without the toppings totally sliding off. But Kevin's pizzas aren't greasy. I'm not sure how he manages that, but they are good. They taste fresh. The other places always taste like the pizza was just pulled out a freezer and then nuked in a microwave. Not Kevin. The crust is crispy, the cheese is melty, the sausage tastes like sausage - not unidentifiable pieces of meat. If you ever go in the restaurant you will be impressed. It's small, very small, but the decor is awesome. Kind of kitschy. Kind of antiquey. Kind of weird. The only strange thing about all of this is the time I went to pick up a pizza and he wasn't there. His store was totally empty. He was apparently out on a delivery. This guy needs some help! I don't know how one human being can manage all of this.
