I'm pretty sure this is the only time I've ever given a pizza place OUTSIDE of Chicago a 5-star review. Holy schneikes does this place make great pizza. Mind you, this isn't a Chicago pizza nor is it a Chicago pizza experience but it was really, really good and we received great service. We went halfsies and the wife opted for the Green Lantern (veggies + goat cheese) for her half while I went with the Inferno (basically a buffalo chicken) for my side. The pictures barely did it justice. Hers was loaded with mushrooms and I don't willingly eat those things so I cannot comment beyond reporting that she said it was incredible. She also said that the mushrooms were the centerpiece of the flavor profile. I'm not sure if this was mentioned as commentary or to ensure I don't bother her leftovers but either way is fine. My side was completely, outrageously, deliciously amazing! The Gorgonzola was both copious and perfectly melted. The chicken was juicy and perfectly sauced and the crust was both chewy on the inside and crisp on the bottom. Simply perfect! Almost forgot...their house side salad is plenty for two and absolutely delicious! It is dressed with a yummy balsamic and includes dried cranberries, pine nuts and goat cheese. Pizza and beer night with our friends, the D's resulted in carry-out from Dewey's. We have intended to try Dewey's for several years and last time we went, there was a huge wait line, so we left. This time we called the order in and went to pick it up. The wait on the pizza was supposed to be 50-55 minutes, but when we arrived in 45 minutes, it was ready and I suspect had been ready for a while. I guess I was a little underwhelmed, overall. The pizza was not bad, just not great. If ours was typical I find it to be generally over rated. The crust was good, kind of a medium thickness, but under baked. The sauce was a little tangy and not over applied. Toppings were a little stingy, but my biggest disappointment was with the cheese quality and the level of doneness. I knew when I opened the box that the cheese was not what I wanted. I know I sound like a broken record, but the quality of cheeses is headed downhill. The mozzarella on Dewey's was translucent (much like Domino's horrible crap, but not quite as bad) and that is a bad sign. It did not have that rubbery, stringy texture that it should have. Beyond that, the pizza was under baked. Ms T and I both like the cheese to be bubbly and slightly browned on top. I would not completely rule out a return, but am still looking for a good pizza in our neck of the woods. One final comment was that the D's pizza did not have sausage on it, as ordered (and verified by the person who took the order). read more

I LOVE PIZZA! It's one of my favorite junk foods. West County suburbans is glad to have another pizza joint that's not your Papa John and your Pizza Hut! Dewey's offers a great variety. Their specialty pizza menu consists of the traditional "red sauce" pizza with Dewey's own tangy flavor or the alternative "white sauce" pizza with olive oil and minced garlic. You can't go wrong with both. However, if you like the toppings on one of the specialty white sauce pizza, but prefer the traditional red, they will simply switch the sauce for you with no extra charge. Is that possible? Yes! On top of that, they'll gladly make you half and half order to give you best of both worlds. Besides all the great, fresh toppings and the unique sauce that Dewey's offers, you can't forget that crust which is the deciding factor on a good pizza. Oh-la-la that crust! Also I recommend getting a salad as a starter. My favorite is the candied walnut and grape salad that I never fail to order during every visit. Thank you YELP!!! We were out this evening and my car load said, so what are we doing for dinner? Of course I let them answer first and then I pull out my phone and whip up YELP. First on the list closest to us that caught my eye was Dewey's Pizza. We ate at the Ellisville location. Now I will fully admit I have been hating on the regular chain pizza places for awhile and have wanted to try other pizza places. So we go for it. We get there and have to wait about 15 mins. for a table. Not bad for a Friday evening. I ordered the Schlafly but the server suggested Scrimshaw for a lighter choice, because all they had was a darker lager. It was certainly the right choice for me! Very good. I order the "Socrates pizza" which was fantastic. My other diners ordered extra cheese and canadian bacon. Beautiful pizzas! The pizza makers put on a show for the kids as they make the pizzas. Even my 16yo daughter got a kick out of it. Serving staff were wonderful. I will be back. read more

I would have happily given a 5 star review, however, I deducted 1-star for cleanliness. The table we chose ended up having a layer of dust on the lamp ledge & a dead bug. After the waitress was made aware of the issue we moved to a different table & she promptly cleaned it. On to the deliciousness. We (2 people) ordered a 13" 1/2 Porky Fig & 1/2 Don Corleone (8 slices) to share. The size was perfect, my beau ate a full 4 slices, while I could only finish 2 slices (which meant I had an amazing lunch the next day too - reheated via stovetop). The flavors were incredible, and as other reviewers have posted, the ingredients are FRESH, and HIGH QUALITY. My personal tip would be that if you order the same pizza we did that you end with the Don Corleone. :-) While the Porky Fig uses a great combination that works perfect, it's a bit sweet & for lunch I prefer to end with savory flavors. I really like that they offer halfsies (half of one flavor combination & a different combination), and if you end up choosing two pizzas that don't cost the same they end up splitting the cost as well. read more

Dewey's Pizza is a great option for the St. Louisan looking for good pizza beyond the typical thin crust pizza that we're known for. Dewey's crust is soft but not too thick which is nice. The toppings are really good and fresh. I always get the bronx bomber which is awesome! I should also point out that the sausage on this pizza is not the normal ground sausage that you often find on pizza, but instead sausage slices. Dewey's is also good for large groups and people who want to split the toppings of the pizza in half. It's a lot of food! The salads are also really good here. My friend swears by the candied walnut and grape salad. The prices aren't cheap but you'll definitely have left-overs when you leave. Check it out! read more

Dewey's is the best pizza restaurant in the St. Louis area because of quality ingredients. Many people who are originally from the St. Louis area and prefer "St. Louis style pizza" with its horrible provel cheese and stupid cracker crust, probably won't think so, but people who are well traveled, and like high quality pizza, will enjoy it very much. They only issue with Dewey's is that its popularity makes getting a table quickly difficult, especially on a Friday evening. Always always always good. You can order their huge size pizza with one specialty flavor on each side to get the most bang for your buck. It's a great way to have plenty of flavor. Came here one afternoon with my wife and she said they don't have appetizers. The one I ate at in edwardsville IL had appetizers. I said did you go to Peel? Oh maybe. We started out with a peppercorn ranch salad. I'm not big on salad besides eating Caesar salad but it was good. We got a half and half. My half was the bronx bomber. It was some good pizza. My son gets the Hawaiian pizza and it is proof that pineapple does have a place on pizza! Our favorite is the Meatball Pizza. The only downfall is there's not a lot of cheese on it and we once asked for extra cheese and they merely just put more on in the "spots" on the pizza as opposed to spreading it all over. the food and staff are great. There's really not much more to say. I think this place has some of the best pizza in the area. It can get expensive if you order their "suggested pizzas.." those pizzas often have 6+ ingredients on them. We usually keep it simple, and small in portions. As great as their pizzas are, I often prefer their salads. There have been numerous times we've dined here without ordering pizza and just had salads. We went to Dewey's in Ellisville for the first time, tonight. Their takeout process worked flawlessly with a person outside calling into someone inside with a walkie-talkie to bring our food out. After we pulled up to give the employee our name, we went to drive into the parking spot she assigned us and we realized she was waving us down. When we rolled down the window she mentioned that she saw our dogs and wanted to know if they would like a treat! We replied "yes," and a dog treat came out with our order! Nice touch! read more

The pizza is AMAZING! The assistant manager, Sabrina, was delightful and very helpful! I had a few questions about the different types of pizzas they offered (calzones, gluten frees, and their 11", 13", 17" pizzas), and she was very informative! She even told me how they make allergy pizzas (untouched food from the make line)! Lucas, the server was very nice as well! He took my order out and was very good about the social distancing, gloves and mask. My food was made within the quoted time as well. The overall quality of the pizza was absolutely amazing and tasted even better! If I had to recommend a pizza, I would highly suggest their seasonal pizza, The Sergeant Pepper, or the regular pizza off their menu, The Dr. Dre!
