Delicious food, portioned well and priced fantastic! For the nights when you don't want a server, this is the place. It's relaxing, open super late, and I like that most items are priced between $4-$10. Every time I eat here the food always comes out consistent and quick. I have no complaints! The only thing I'd recommend however is that they have a few more options in the $5/$7 category. While you can eat cheap here you can also spend $30 and not leave full depending on what you order. I definitely spend a few minutes every time trying to figure out how I can order enough food to fill me up for under $14. Down the line if they could expand their menu to include miso soup, mochi or boba that would be amazing as well! read more

Phenomenal sushi. Really tastes and each roll has a special twist in taste for example bacon, or cream cheese, soy wrap. Crazy prices too for the size of roll. You order off of a screen and they prepare it fast and deliver to uuf table. I've been here twice and both times no crowd. Not a huge fan. When I went the place was empty and I could see why. Although there were four people working behind the counter, customers must order from a screen akin to a Walmart self-checkout and it was equally as unpleasant. As you order by clicking a picture on a screen, you have guess as to what your sushi roll consists of. I'd much prefer reading a menu with descriptions of what I'm about to spend $10 on. I ended up with a sub-par roll slathered with tarter sauce (why?) and my hunger allowed me to finish only 3 pieces before I gave up. Not to mention, the roll was huge and definitely couldn't be eaten in one bite. Not running back to eat here again. It was on the later side for the Boise dining scene (you know, 9:30) and we were trying to figure out where we could grab some dinner on our way home. We decided to give Dharma a try so we went in and ordered some food to go....hugely disappointed. I ordered the red curry with chicken. I have never seen red cabbage in curry. All that was in the curry other than the odd red cabbage were lots of onions and carrots. Really small amount of chicken. My husband ordered the 80/20 roll and another one along with the cucumber salad. As another reviewer mentioned the rolls are huge. That isn't a good thing with sushi. Also, why do all of the sushi places in Boise have a large selection of rolls with cream cheese. Um....have you eaten sushi before? I took one bite of the 80/20 (yes, it's that large I couldn't shove it in my mouth without having someone close by to perform the Heimlich) and left it at that. The flavors did not entice me enough to even finish the one roll. The menu was quite small, nothing compared to what is posted online. The sushi roll I had consisted of way too much rice, some seaweed, and some aha but it cost almost $10. The roll was barely decent tasting and not worth the money. On top of that, they did not even serve the roll with ginger or wasabi. Very mediocre food. On top of that, you don't even get a personable experience with the staff. It's all very impersonal because you order through a computer screen and it's not very convenient if you have specific questions or want a special order. Plus, when they deliver the food, they have to awkwardly glance at all the receipt numbers at the ends of the table. If you want to try this place try it soon because it won't be around long. The sushi menu is nice, but if you don't like seafood there's not much for you; only one vegetarian roll and two side salads - no chicken, no beef - even as options for the curry. Order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. Fetch your own plastic ware and condiments. That wouldn't be too bad if you had the option to *not* tip at least 15% at the register. Not sure what they're doing to earn the tip. They also don't have a lunch menu or lunch special. Going to be hard to compete with Lucky Fins or the bento boxes at Yoitomo. read more

The location right downtown is great, as well as the price point (roughly $9 for a roll with all sorts of amazing ingredients). Oh.My.God. Definitely my new favorite sushi in Boise. Everything we ordered was so fresh and flavorful, and it's very impressive how efficient these guys are. The food came out fast as lightening. Also, I love how you order, there is a little monitor where you place your order and swipe your card. It's so convenient, I wish more places in town would adopt this method. We ordered one sushi roll, two red Thai curry lunch specials with shrimp, as well as fried tofu and Thai Bombs. My fiancé said if he could he would eat the thai bombs everyday for the rest of his life, haha. I was delighted by the experience right down to the roomy high back orange chairs, and cute wall art. My boyfriend and I are regulars at Dharma. I personally have been going there since they've opened. Every time I have such great service and AMAZING food. My personal favorite is the money bags, but as for sushi the apocalypse roll takes the cake. I love the atmosphere and the setting they create. Their fish and ingredients are fresh, their tables and sitting area are always clean. Some of the best tuna I've had in the valley. Thanks for doing what you do Dharma. At first glance, the "hole in the wall" atheistic is achieved; it's a friendly atmosphere, the room is bright and cleanly, and the plants are for sale which is super cool. The touch free is convenient and the menu looks delicious. Let's just say pictures are deceiving and first glances shouldn't be trusted. If you want a mondo, badly rolled, burrito of a sushi roll, warm and everything, stop by immediately. I was stoked at how quickly everything came out and dug in, but understood the timeliness because it tasted like it sat on the counter for 6 weeks. Walk-in is fine; it's serviceable sushi open late. The main thrust of this review was upon trying to place an order. I ordered for delivery, my receipt gives a delivery address, it says takeout. We called to cancel the order upon realizing there was a mistake, and the call, during normal business hours, went directly to voice mail twice. An hour later we got a condescending call about how, "We're not the only ones to make this mistake." and that they would either deliver the order if in the order zone, or we'd have to go pick it up. Fantastic little sushi restaurant (can't speak for the Thai because we didn't order any). We try a different sushi place each time we visit Boise (about 1 a month) and so far this has been the best. My husband and I usually eat 4 rolls between the two of us but 3 was enough here as their rolls are large (the pieces are bigger than normal). Highly recommend the 20/20, the Lux, and the Cali. We also had the Name Your Fish with salmon but that is really just rice and whatever fish you order (exactly as described so don't expect anything different). Check them out! read more

When I was going out to downtown after a long night of drinking I somehow stumbled here are a couple of times, the sushi quality is along the lines of subpar grocery store sushi and there's a pretty bad odor that comes from bathrooms. This is what Asian-esque fast food should be. Simple, fresh, and fast. The Thai aspect of the menu is, admittedly, an afterthought. However, the sushi rolls are nicer than most places, even much "fancier" places. If you don't expect too much out of the fried appetizers, they won't disappoint, they are a nice accompaniment to the sushi rolls. I ordered the Tom Yum curry to go. I thought it was odd they were selling tom yum as a curry, rather than a soup, and I was right. It was a soup, not a curry. Sort of--too thin to be curry, too thick to be soup. It was packaged to go in two bowls, so I just dumped the rice, little by little, into the "curry" bowl. It was really meh tasting. It took me until I finished the bowl to figure out the protein bits I thought were chicken were actually clams. If you're craving sushi after bar hours, this is your place since they are open until 4 am on Fridays and Saturdays. I personally have NEVER had such a craving, but who am I to judge. read more

I just discover dharma during my last semester of college, since they delivered to the library during finals week. Since then, I've experienced poor customer service over the phone and poor face to face communication. What's most irritating is that they say they're open until 3am Friday and Saturday and that they deliver until midnight, and multiple times I've tried to order food at 11:20 to be deliver to my house, and the website says the store isn't open. Then when I try to call, they don't answer the phone. I really did enjoy my first dharma experience. I think their menu is small yet tasty, but I'm very frustrated with he horrid service. read more

First time here, and so far I'm impressed! The decor is clean and trendy, and the location is really great. This would be a nice place to grab a quick and casual dinner. Though we saw other people eating the sushi (we are huge sushi fans) we didn't order any for ourselves. It looked delicious! We are definitely gonna get it when we come back! We ordered some "money bags." They're like these little fried pockets of heaven. Crab, cream cheese, other good stuff. Comes with a side of sweet chili sauce. We loved em! This corner sushi shop was very artistic and innovative with their rolls and layout. The Bangkok Roll was a fresh tangy combination and the Swagger Roll had a cool, sweet, teriyaki flavor. The Cali Roll and Peanut roll tasted much like any other roll of its kind, but the spicy mayo complimented both of them! The only issue was that the rolls tended to stick to the paper plates and fall apart. I really recommend this place to college kids or quick dinner dates! I was skeptical coming here in the first place but decided to roll with it as I was meeting a coworker for lunch. The whole premise of this restaurant is a little strange, Thai and sushi? The ordering process is frustrating because you can't take in the whole menu without a sense of being rushed and it's not very detailed either. I hate to be the bearer of bad news BUT The food here is horrible. We each ordered two rolls and barely ate any of them. Mine had a fishy taste and the rice was stale. There was really nothing to the rolls, which made them bland and the fishyness really stand out. There are far better places to get your sushi fix. Will not be returning. read more

First time visiting I had the red curry. The flavor was excellent, but the consistency was too thin and the shrimp was a bit rubbery. The rice they served with it was extremely overcooked and way too sticky. Second trip: I ordered the 80/20 and a cucumber salad. The salad was good, but c'mon it's cucumber slices with dressing on them. The roll was kind of ridiculous. For starters it was WAY too big. The pieces were a little smaller than the diameter of an average coffee cup which makes them impossible to eat without cutting them up or somehow making a mess out of it. All the rolls seemed to be rolled inside out with most of the stuff on the outside which is trendy, but hardly original. Too much panko and all kinds of stuff drizzled all over everything. In fact, the fish was so minimal I almost could have missed it. They have a couple of deep fried rolls if you're into really destroying your sushi experience. Cool decor and a great location. Just hope they can tone down the "XTREME" and focus on good, fresh ingredients rather than drizzles and panko all over everything. read more

They need to stop advertising as a Thai restaurant because the three options they do have that aren't sushi, are made in large batches and do not taste authentic Thai at all. I am very disappointed with this business. My sisyer loves darhma and had recommended it several times. This first experience was less than pleasurable. We ordered several rolls late at night and went and picked up the order while we were staying downtown at a close hotel. When we arrived back at the hotel the bag with all my rolls broke and half my order fell to the ground. If that wasn't bad enough when we got too our room to eat the sushi that we were able to save, we found a chewed sunflower seed shell in one of the rolls. The rice was also so old that it was crunchy. After contacting them about this expirance they us a gift card to come pick up for another meal ($20 on a $60 order.) and they apologized. So we decided to try again. This time we decided to dine in. The service was great and everyone was very apologetic about our first experience. But once again the food came and rolled into my roll was a large dark hair! Again I called the employee over to show them my roll. They offered to replace it but this was twice in a row that my food was contaminated. I politely declined but my husband noticed that non of the cooks were wearing any type of hair, or bread nets. The manger said that she would refund my card for the money we spent, and we left. A week later I contacted the manager and explained that i never received a refund on my card. She then informed me that not only was she not refunding me my money, but because my husband asked the cooks why they weren't wearing hair nets we apparently " caused too much of a scene and have been banned from that location". So basically they are unsanitary and since i point it out im banned from the restaurant. Don't even worry dharma I will never be back. read more

An excellent and unconventional sushi and Thai place. The sushi rolls are generously portioned. I got the urban role and was not disappointed! They also come around with samples of food and one of the waiters offered me some green curry. It was phenomenal, and though I had not planned to order green curry it was definitely on my order! Excellent fusion of flavors! The unconventional way has to do with how you order. They're little kiosk at the counter, and you scroll through the menu. Each food item has a picture and a description. You tap the items you want to order, swipe your card, the receipt prints out, and you are ready to go! If you're eating in, you sit down and they bring the food to you. It is super easy, super intuitive, and super efficient. I am definitely planning a repeat visit. read more
