I've been to this restaurant a few times, and each time it is consistently "sturdy" and by that I mean, good food, uniquely different, but not "over the top" but that's ok! I'm not a salad person, but their salads are extremely good! Their mayfair dressing for the ceaser salad is wonderful. It's very creamy and the anchovies are subtle and gives it the perfect taste. The croutons are homemade and meaty bread is used. Their sandwiches are excellent and their chicken was cooked perfectly, seasoned proportionally. Their service, from the servers to management are LYE standard, which is excellent. Everyone showed a genuine concern and were very responsive to any concerns I had. Incidentally, this visit they were able to prepare a luncheon for 30 people with two hours time, and they were right on time. My clients were extremely pleased. DiPescara will not disappoint. My only "beef" pardon the pun, is that they don't have sausage or any pork products. Imagine that! An Italian restaurant without pork! But that's ok, still great restaurant, and its a highly Jewish area. NO problem for me, I'm Catholic...and I appreciate sensitivity to our fast and abstinence laws. Mazel tov! read more

Another nice LEY restaurant here. It's mainly Italian, but they also have sushi and burgers and other sandwiches as well. Food quality is very good. Wife had their sushi (rainbow roll) and chopped salad combo for $17.95. I had their burger with grilled onions and fries for $11.95. The burger was nicely presented disassembled and I could on put my own amount of grilled onions, and ketchup, etc. I also very much liked the cloth towels in the washroom, and hadn't encountered that in a while. Waiter and water service were both a bit slow. There were a lotta apparently non-working housewives dining, and it was quite busy for a 12:45pm lunch. They may have been headed to the adjoining Northbrook Court mall afterwards or just before lunch! read more

I walked in after 7pm on a Thursday evening. Restaurant completely packed like a nursing home. While waiting, I asked a waiter if there were early bird specials and hence the geriatric crowd. He laughed and said that's just the local clientele. Friendly service. Bread, alright. Flat pasta w/ the meat sauce, may be it was an off night as the pasta all stuck together. I liked the Caesar w/ poached salmon. Chicken with mushroom was very tender. Portions were enormous so we didn't have room for dessert. read more

Come in at prime time on a Friday without a reservation and they are not quite sure what to do with you, so to the bar we went, the tables in which they consider managed seating as well, service is good despite. Tip - comp valet parking with validation. As strange as it sounds the turkey burger and the tomato soup came highly recommended to me so that's what I ordered. They did not disappoint, in fact, I was stuffed as a result. Chances are you are at NB mall for a reason, but fair warning to the uninitiated, if the northshore scene is not your thing, then you might want to give this one a pass, because it screams northshore, not that that's a bad thing but you should know. Great food and huge portions! I ordered a "small" Caesar salad and a side of grilled salmon. The salmon was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The salad seemed dinner size, but I devoured it all the same. I like how they crushed the croutons into small crumbs which added a crunchy texture with each bite. Hubby was accidentally given the dinner menu instead of the lunch menu and had his heart set on the Lobster Fra Diabolo. Our server was awesome - she checked with the chef who was willing to prepare it for him anyway. He really liked it, but the portion was huge so we took home about half of the pasta. The fresh lemonade was delicious. We also munched on the fresh warm bread while waiting for our meals. They also have a separate party room - I've attended a bridal shower here before and the food and service was just as great. read more

This will be a bar app review... Killing some time in the afternoon. Had a few cocktails and ordered a few things off the menu. For Happy Hour you can get a mini burger, chicken egg rolls, fish & chips, plus other things for $5ea. All three things were good and worth the deal. Also had the grilled calamari & a crab cake. The calamari was good but gets overpowered by the other things in the dish (capers, olives, etc). The crab cake was moist and had a clean flavor with a pretty good sauce on the side. Last a king crab California roll. Don't expect something like Shaws (which is always good). This one had little filling and was poorly made. I'd skip it for the full price @ $13 So for some cocktails & snacks in the afternoon and wanting something better than the food court in the mall I would return. read more

I planning my office holiday party there and they were fabulous. Our server was very helpful and attentive and we were a rowdy bunch! Every food item was above and beyond. The portions were huge. Great green beans...I know...green beans? But they were in a soy sesame glaze. Whitefish with almonds was the bomb and the salads were awesome. Quite rubbery, and, while I understand that it is listed as an appetizer - the portion given could be a bit larger... The atmosphere at first glance is pretty nice - mod and sleek...in reality though, this place feels a bit grimy and in the handful of times I've dined here - it's never a comfortable dining experience because the place just feels dirty. I do always enjoy their complimentary bread with olive oil and the service is decent. I wouldn't seek this place out or anything, but it's an OK place if you find yourself here. read more

Ok.... So I have been to this restaurant numerous times and it had a good meal and good service.... However my most recent experience was terrible.... We started with the Grilled artichoke and the photos I posted is what we received.... I couldn't believe a restaurant would actually bring this out to a table.... We also order halibut which was fine.... But this was an anniversary meal and the artichoke just ruined it for us..... The artichoke used to look beautiful when it came out and was served the same way every other restaurant serves artichokes....... The waiter said that they had recently changed the preparation.... And the waiter did admit that the plate looked terrible and very messy......so sad that I can't return to this place read more

It was tough deciding whether this deserved 3 or 4 stars. I wish there was a half star in this case. But I'm pretty confident with 3 being the right choice. Tomato basil bisque was amazing! The bread is also delish and they keep it coming so you never run out. Skip the artichoke app, it's a bit overrated and not a lot to it. I also had some shrimp app with an orange sauce that was really good but I can't remember the name. Entrees. I went with a large group so tried a few things. The hot & crunchy tilapia was crunchy. That's it. The almond white fish was done really well I thought. But pasta shells and shrimp in a tomato vodka sauce is where it's at. I happily made the right decision. They warn you it's spicy but it isn't even kinda. It's sooo yummy. AND it's a ridiculously huge portion so you can take it home and enjoy for many more meals! Try the bite of the day. It's very small and only $1 so it satisfies that sweet tooth perfectly after a huge meal! Just another thing or 2 here: wine list surprised me. Very few options by the glass and it was all $10 or more. And the menu, tho very large in size seemed somehow limited in options. Surprising dish choices for an Italian spot. read more

Ok this place has redeemed itself! I've been back several times and let me say kudos to the management! Tonight (5/19/18 @ 7:30) I made reservations on open table at 8 but got to the restaurant 30 min early and approached the desk where two young women were behind the desk. This is where it went wrong. I asked if there were seats available at the bar area and one gal unenthusiastically says "well you can go check but it's really busy there." The other gal adds, "yeah, just check but I'm sure by the time you find a table there, it'll be bout the time your reservation is ready." Omg really!? How bout getting off your lazy untrained asses and go look for a table for the customer since I don't work here!!! Horrible hostess staff!! Luckily out of nowhere another host/manager (Chris) helps us out and points out a table to seat us and actually walks us over with menus. Now this is good service. Thank you Chris! Our server was Janey who we've had before and I must say she's Fantastic! Super friendly and efficient and can multitask numerous tables and treats you like you're her only guest. We Started with drinks and the shrimp appetizer which was soooo good! I had the peppercorn crusted ribeye and my friend had the halibut both really really delicious! Oh forgot, we started with the Cesar salad and chopped salad. Probably the best Cesar salad on the north shore bar none. So here it is folks.... I have been going to Di Pescara since the doors opened. The last three times I was there is was sub-standard. Why go back you ask? It's my Mothers favorite restaurant. Strike one ok, strike two not pleased. But my last visit was horrible. Ok we were seated quickly & they always honor your reservation. My meal was horrible fish over cooked, potatos under cooked & cold but the pièce de ré·sis·tance (not in a good way) was the long dark hair I found in my meal. I'm a red head It was not mine. This put the yuck factor over the edge. The three other people I was with also were not pleased with the food. Also & this is shocking for Di Pescara the service was horrible & they were not even that crowded. They gave my Mother a coupon I threw it out so we never have to go back. read more

I was excited and anxious to experience this restaurant as I had heard good things about it. Unfortunately the evening went sideways from the moment I walked in the door. The website portrays a white table cloth moderate to high end experience. After I inquired about the decor I was told that the table clothes were only used for special events. Fair enough. I was seated in a booth near the kitchen and had a friendly and solicitous server. I ordered the "special" Manhattan and was excited to try it. The menu said it was served "neat" so when the drink came on the rocks, I questioned that and was told it was a "mistake" by the bartender. Okay, but shouldn't he be familiar with what's on the menu? So the drink got remade and served "up". I took one sip and noticed that the glass had lipstick on the rim. Now I am somewhat annoyed. Again the drink got remade - now correct and very tasty. Good for them. Another thing on the website was a picture and write up on Chilean Sea Bass - a personal favorite. I was informed that the Sea Bass was only served on Thursday. Really? So I ordered the baked Salmon with "hand cut french fry's". It came with fried potato straws. Not happy. To his credit my server switched them out for mashed garlic potatoes. Things went better from there but...there were too many snafus for this restaurant a "Lettuce Entertain You" member. My server, Chris, did not charge me for the Manhattan and the manager listened to my observations which was a very good sign. However, I will not be returning to Di Pescara. read more

Sorry Di Pescara, you just made it to 3 stars. Lunch with wife and daughter on a recent week day. It is only an average expectation to get a moist chicken parmesan (not overcooked) sandwich with the brioche bun. Fail. The chowder is very good and pulled the ranking to three stars. The croutons should be removed and forgotten about. I was really excited to check out Di Pescara. I drive past it all the time and I saw it had good ratings on yelp. I went on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was full and the tables were much to close together. I felt like a mouse trying to find the cheese in a maze met by dead ends along the way to the table. The service left much to be desired. We were essentially ignored by our waitress. It took her 20 minutes to bring us our bill. Not cool. The food was really good though. I am not sure if I would return simply because of the service... or lack thereof. read more

The service was impeccable! This was my first time at Di Pescara, I went there for lunch and I ordered sushi rolls and a bowl of tomato basil soup. The soup was DELICIOUS! The rolls I must admit were not my favorite but the service I received was fantastic which is why I am giving Di Pescara 4 stars. I've heard numerous compliments about this place so I will definitely come back and try their other seafood options. I had the sweet potato roll which was a bit crunchy. At other sushi places the sweet potatoes are normally soft. Also, in this case the rolls that I ordered had the seaweed on the outside which is not the way I prefer my rolls. read more

Besides great food they make delicious cupcakes too! I enjoy eating at the restaurant bar on Monday nights before 6pm for their happy hour menu which is delightful and not too heavy a meal. Their bar staff is very friendly. I have also had dinner meetings there from 15 people to 60 people and always the food is good. I have had lunches catered into the office by them and they make their food as well as their desserts fresh and delicious! You can't go wrong if you're in the mood for Italian tonight! read more

First time visiting this restaurant. When we entered the host very very friendly. He was chatty and seemed to be more of a greeter than a host. We were seated quickly with a reservation but we didn't love the first table that they put us at. It was a half booth/ half table and we would have had one of our neighbors back and hair a foot away from the table and been closer to our other neighbor than we cared to be. We asked to have a different table. The next choice wasn't too much better but we took it. In my opinion, there are too many tables. The person at the table behind me had their chair right up against mine so I had her coat on my back. Not her fault, she had to sit down. Our server was very friendly and helpful. To be honest, she got this review to 4 stars. She was helpful with the menu and honest. I had the horseradish crusted whitefish. It was very fresh fish but I would have loved to taste the crust a little more. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food. I am not sure it knocked any socks off but was appropriate for pricing and expectations. The seating situation really put a damper on the experience. I also tried the white fish. Yum. I had the lobster special tonight. It was cooked perfectly but did require a little work. My daughter loved the shrimp cocktail which is a pail of shrimp. Idk what happened but my visit was a complete miss. I came in with my mom for a quick lunch since I had a lettuce entertain you birthday credit (what a waste I would have much rather spent that $15 else where and enjoyed it). I got a Caesar salad with spicy grilled chicken. Caesar salad is literally one of my favorite foods and this was just eeek. The salad was bland, looked extremely sloppy and the chicken was over seasoned and not edible. My mom got the orchard salad and was asking the waiter about the green goddess dressing since she's never had it before and he said it was a perfect pairing and no other dressing would taste good with it. *face palm* she hates it. Worst grilled calamari I have ever had anywhere in the world. No tentacles; have never been served calamari without a single tentacle. Tiny portion, about 60% of the calamari you get at Demetris and other area restaurants, but cost was $14 vs. $11 or $12 in most restaurants. Some kind of limp leafy greens covered more than half the plate, obviously to conceal how little calamari there was. And there were chunks of under-cooked cauliflower in the calamari that just didn't taste right or belong there. Rest of the meal was OK, but Calamri was so off-putting we won't go back to Di Pescara for a long, long time. read more

We were at Di Pescara for lunch on Sunday and got a table easily without reservation. We were first given brunch menu but the options were limited and we asked for their regular dinner menu. The waiter was incredibly nice, polite and friendly, he made good suggestions and went out of the way to make sure we were happy with our options. I work in Deerfield and we're always looking for places to have lunch and get out of the office during the day from time to time. At Northbrook Court, I've always wondered about this place... and finally, I was able to make it there. I had a quasi working lunch here. Met with a vendor who was nice enough to pay for my meal. The ambiance is very good. The restaurant is very well decorated, if I recall correctly, it was dimly lit which is fine, nice furniture, prompt and courteous service. We ordered à la carte. I had the soup of the day, which was a delicious black bean and veggie soup. It had a little kick to it, which was nice. Then I had the chopped steak with peppers and onions. It might have been a little too cooked for a medium, but it was not bad. It was still juicy and savory, lying on a bed of mashed potatoes and topped with caramelized onions and peppers. Not bad at all. Maybe since it was rush hour, service might have been a little slow... but in the end it was fine, I think. Plenty of parking space at the mall, they accept all kinds of credit cards. Customers were mostly suburban retirees having lunch, so if you're looking for a hip and fun place, this is not it. Would I go back? Absolutely. read more

I was debating between giving this a high 3 or a low 4. Went with a low 4. The ambience isn't the best. It's pretty dark and isn't very fancy. A bit overpriced but still a consistent solid option. The barbecue salmon is a great option. The milanese is also pretty good and comes with a side of pasta. The sweet potato roll is our favorite on the menu. I came here with my boyfriend the other Wednesday and may I say that we were FULL! We ordered the chop steak and the chicken Parmesan and split them so we could share. Also, we were celebrating his promotion so we ate a ton!! Both of those dishes are heartwarming and hearty. I would recommend it to any and everyone! The chopped steak was like a chopped meat loaf with more char on it. The chicken parm was classic and bursting with flavor. Any day I would have them both again! We were a big party so we got a bunch of dishes and appetizers. The calimari, the shrimp frittata, and the crab cake. The calimari and shrimp were ok but the crab cake was very tasty and well made. I got the special of the night which was the Dover Sole with roasted cauliflower and kale. The Dover is a very soft flaky whitefish. It tasted very fresh and the lemon sauce is light and tasty. Although not sure it was worth the special price of $38 versus one of the other white fish on the menu? My daughter got the chicken parmigiana and it was a huge portion. She said she really liked it. The group liked all the food except the one complaint I heard was the Halidock fish was really bland. The service was very good and the food came out relatively fast. The ambiance was good, good lighting, no background music, good spacing of the seats around the table, nice decor. It was a packed Saturday night so very popular restaurant. There are items on the menu that my family enjoys. Tuna appetizer, shells in vodka sauce with shrimp, salmon. However, had lunch there recently on a Saturday. Thought there used to be lunch menu - no, same as dinner. Fish (salmon) was ordered by two people, came with asparagus and no rice. When we asked, we were told only the fish on the special comes with rice. Odd... My salad came without the chicken I ordered. Something is off there. Really delicious happy hour! The $5 apps were fantastic! Fish & chips were very very good, sushi surprisingly tasty, and the mussels were good but lacked salt & garlic. It was empty in the bar, for St Pattys, but filled up by 6. Martinis were tasty but a little overpriced especially when they advertise $5 martinis but charged us $12. We gave a good argument and they acknowledged our point & valued us as a customer! That's positive feeling for this customer and guaranteed return visit! Lovely decor, we sat in the bar area cus it was pretty crowded. Delicious Caesar salad and server was nice which was setting us up for a great meal. However we waited about 30 mins for our oven roasted fish and artichokes. But when they came they were both ice cold. We politely told the waiter and said he would take care of it. When it came back about 15 mins later is was just the same meal we had ordered, only slightly warmer and much drier than before. We told the waitress and she asked us if we wanted them again but turned off by the food and fear of kitchen retaliation we decided to pay for our drinks and salads and go. Nothing was comped. Very disappointed with this restaurant tonight. Been here many times. Price of wine and cocktails out of site expensive, previously not so. The hostess at the front desk was so rude. "Get out of my way I'm busy" when I was just checking in for a reservation. No water at the table, had to ask the waitress for water. No fillup on bread. Ordered mushrooms for a pasta dish, and they never showed up. The grilled calamari was non-existent on the plate mostly arugula salad and giardiniera. No utensils(cracker, scissors) for the lobster. The soup was barely warm. and so on...... Come on you can do better then this for a "Let Us Entertain You" restaurant. read more
