I have to say that this place is pretty good. However, there are better lettuce entertain you restaurants. It is very convenient to go there for dinner because of the location and the choices on the menu. The food is pretty good. I have been there a hand full of times and have enjoyed my meals. The fish is great and the menu has things for everyone, its not defined by any restaurant category, but They call it an italian seafood house which I can agree with because of the menu has more fish on it then average, so if you like fish go. But, it gets loud and crowded quickly by 6ish, and you can barley hear people sitting next to you and at your table. Now if you go before the rush, like any restaurant, it is a bit better atmosphere. The vibe of the place is ikea, hip, and cool, but that is only an iota of how you judge a restaurant. I'm not running back, but I will return when Im in the mood strikes for some tilapia or salmon, before the crowed hits. Recommendation: If you like seafood and want to have a dinner in the area go. First off, I'm a big fan of Lettuce Entertain You/Rich Melman restaurants - they are normally off the grid superb. Unfortunately this location didn't seem to meet the same high quality. POSITIVES: *Very professional, friendly, outgoing and knowledgable staff. Like the best in the biz. *Comfortable setting. *Clean environment. *Attentive service. NEGATIVES: *Portions seem to be way off for any restaurant - let alone LEY locations. I ordered a large size Orchard Salad (one of their self proclaimed 'Signature Salads') with a side of salmon. This menu claims it serves 4 people at $12.95. The side salmon was an additional $5.95 and was a very small 3 oz. I was able to finish the entire salad myself as the portion was probably sized for 1.2 people and this was my entree. The fish portion was way too small to be served on a dinner salad. Especially for this pricing. *The setting was dark - kind of missed windows. I wanted to love this place - as I do with most of the other LEY locations - however it just didn't win me over so doubt I would return until adjustments are made. read more

Absolutely love this restaurant! Made a reservation and got there a bit early - staff was so friendly and seated us anyway. Highly recommend the almond crusted whitefish with brussel sprouts...SO yummy! My boyfriend had the oven roasted haddock with roasted potatoes and green beans and loved it. I also had the signature limoncello mojito! The staff was friendly, attentive, and very helpful! I would highly recommend this place for anyone in the area! Great food for a good price. read more

Food was very good. Service was too. So why 2 stars? The waitress described a meatball & risotto special. Told us is was $18. When the bill came it was $22. We asked her about price and she repeated $18. When we showed her $22 on the bill her response was, "I guess they changed the price on me." REALLY!! I don't appreciate being deceived. She should have either made an adjustment or sent the manager over to apologize and offer gift cars. But instead all I got was a shrug. Brian James the manager goes over and above the call of duty to help his customers. We were a group of 13 people and we were assigned to Rosa as our white person. She could not have done more to make us comfortable happy and the evening and entire success. Any Italian knows what a true seafood salad is and this wasn't in the ballpark. When 98% of the meal is salad should seafood be the first word on the menu? Suggest changing the menu item to a salad with a hint of seafood. The current name is embarrassing and misleading. Also, ordered a turkey burger with a gluten free bun. The service was great - but the food was just OK. The shrimp cocktail had tiny shrimp, which looked exceptionally weird with the massive presentation they put together. The grilled calamari was good - but not much calamari was in the dish. (A lot of filler, peppers, etc). I had the sea scallops and mushroom risotto - it was pretty good, but nothing exceptional. The photos and the fact it was in Northbrook had me thinking it was something other than what it actually is...an Applebees with a cooler name in a richer area. The place is dirty. The carpet is old and has a smell. I came on a weekday in between lunch and dinner time so it's not like the food on the floor was from the busy rush they just had. There was plenty of downtime and low customers for them to "clean up". Menu is limited. The place has potential but lacks proper management it seems. DiPescara is where I take people to when I'm dining out with my husband because he doesn't like it for some reason. So I might go here at least once a month and I've never really been disappointed but I've never been blown away either. So as my star ratings suggest - the place is "ok." Interestingly enough, my favorite dish in this seafood restaurant is the Chicken Milanese. It is a generous portion of thinly cut chicken - crispy on the outside but tender on the inside and complimented with arugula and tomato salad. They also used to have these doughnuts for dessert which they took off the menu :-( read more

This place has ample parking, as it's attached to the mall. There's also valet parking available for cold nights like tonight. We had reservations but weren't seated right away, maybe 10 minutes later. Our table for two was pretty small for our two entrees & shared order of crab legs. Service was pretty slow and certainly not very attentive. I only saw our server service one other table but we were only checked on once when it was time to order and again when we flagged him down for our check. The penne pasta with chicken was ok. The chicken was very dry and I could have done without it. We ordered Alaskan crab legs to share. We'd done this before and I remember having more than 3 in the full order and they were a lot fresher last time. I wish I could attribute the slow service and flavorlessness to it being Valentine's Day, but it wasn't packed--an average Saturday night crowd. Not bad, not great. I was arranging a small group gathering of 10-15 for here. They were rather difficult about this, wanting to require I sign a contract guaranteeing $80 in gratuity, despite that we were mostly going to have drinks and light eats. Given that I didn't know the exact turnout of the event, it was going to be hard for me to determine if this would be appropriate or a rip off. Given that 8 showed up to my event and our tab was closer to $150, I'm glad we didn't agree to their crazy contract. The events coordinator was pretty passive aggressive with me by email and phone. That said, this review and my rating is on the restaurant and food and drink, not that experience, despite that sort of setting the tone. Atmosphere: a bit pretentious, which was ironic given the very loud (but friendly) Bar Mitzvah occurring in a side room. When they emptied out, there was a large stream of children everywhere. We decided to go to the bar area because of this. They didn't seem to get that we wanted a bit of a mix/mingle environment and shoved all the tables together into a gauntlet, despite my asking them not to. That said, the seating, lighting, and tables were rather nice, as was the decor. It always ticks me off when I order a mixed drink, such as a Jack and Coke, and end up with a watery, over icey mess without flavor, or enough Jack. This happened to me here. At $8 a pop, I would expect they'd know how to make such a basic drink. My turkey burger was quite good however. It had neat assorted dipping sauces, was on a bed of stringy potatoes, and the quality of the ingredients was high. I was happy with it. Some nosy lady came over and asked me if my group was all from the same company. Quite frankly, when I go to a restaurant, it is none of their damn business who my group is. I was a little offended that they were probing about who we were and why we were there. The waiter, in serving the next table, poured water glasses over my coat on an adjacent chair, getting a bit of water on it. That annoyed me to no end, he was clearly trying to get rid of us to turn over the tables, even though we hadn't been there that long. I should mention we were appropriately dressed for the restaurant (upscale casual) and were not causing a scene. However, I did feel as though this is not a good venue for a group of 8 gay guys and the subtle cues from the staff, the organizers, and the patrons made this clear. So it just occurred to me that'd I'd never written a review for Di Pescara and I had to stop what I was doing immediately and right one. I'm from the North Shore, and can say it's very hard for a new restaurant to stick. Lasting longer than 6 months is really rare, so when tiny place opened in the mall about 10 years ago, you didn't think it would have much sticking power, but it's become as much a staple as any place in the neighborhood. The family and I order in 1-2x a week, religiously. The great part is the menu is constantly experimenting and changing around, so there's always something new you can try. The fish is fantastic, the pasta is good and homemade, and my personal favorite is the chopped salad. It's got jicama and wasabi peas, and it comes in personal, small, or large. It's phenomenal to share. My new favorite is the risotto, it's so rich it's to die for. And always get extra bread! You won't regret it. read more

Went here to celebrate a birthday and was sitting with my chair back up against another person the whole night. While it was on a Sunday, the two tables around us complained of never seeing the waiter to even get the bill. We were seated in a small booth, a bit too small, just an awkward size with a round top in it. She had a spaghetti and red sauce w/ shrimp and I had a breaded chicken w/ mushrooms and a side of sauteed spinach. The food was fine, she thought hers was just Maggiano's basically. The thing that brought it down for me was the service. Our waiter was very un-attentive and the guys filling water routinely splashed water and ice across the table. Di Pescara is what I like to call convenience while shopping in the mall. I've been to this mall a thousand times but never wandered inside here. I had the perfect opportunity the other evening to come here with my husband for an earlier dinner during their happy hour which is from 3-6pm daily and they have all these $5 appetizers. So we got there and sat at the bar to take advantage of the happy hour. Let's start with the service, they brought out us fresh bread with olive oil right from the start which may have been my favorite part of the evening. Then our server kinda disappeared for another 15 minutes until he came up to take our order. No biggie. We placed our order and here is what we got. First came out the mussels with warm toast in this awesome garlicy sauce, the mussels themselves were not big but the flavor was all there. Then we ordered the spicy tuna roll which was eh, stick to the seafood here ladies and gentleman, sushi you should get at sushi only places. Then we got the sweet and spicy chicken appetizer with salad, tasty but not worthwhile nor am I craving it again. Lastly, we got the burger to share with roasted red peppers and caramelized onions. It was on a brioche bun which I enjoyed but it was a little dry, I would have wanted some cheese with it as well as like a chipotle mayo. But I did like the crispy thin fries that accompanied it, I ate those all up. We were stuffed as it was a lot of food for not a lot of money so overall it was okay, nothing extraordinary but nothing bad either. The annoyance factor came in the end of the meal when we had a lettuce entertain you gift certificate coupon for a minimum of $15 off our meal, which our server told us we can't use since we already came for happy hour. I asked the manager and he also refused to honor it even though on the back of the lettuce entertain you gift card, there says nothing about not being able to use it with happy hour. After fighting and arguing unnecessarily with us, the manager agreed to take $10 off. It's like, couldn't he have done that right away instead of arguing with the customer? I mean, I appreciate him doing it, but it wasn't worth all the hassle of getting him to agree. So that kinda spoiled the evening for us. But I would consider coming back here for the seafood pasta dishes in the future, just not anytime soon. read more

What a fabulous find! My hubby and I took his grandmother for lunch here and not only did we love the restaurant, but so did his grams! We had an early lunch (around 11:15), and the place was a bit empty. I enjoyed the delicious warm bread with the olive oil and parm cheese! Yummo! I feel that have a great lunch menu with great prices! I ordered the tomato-basil soup and the Goddess salad, which were both scrumptious! My hubby ordered the tuna salad sandwhich, which was a huge portion! He's a big eater and couldn't finish it all! It came with fries and an adorable cup of the clam chowder (which Im not a clam chowder fan, but I'm sorry I didn't order this for my soup!)! My grams-in-law ordered the Parmesan Chicken Sandwhich, which she enjoyed! Pros: ~ Good location ~Great lunch prices ~ Delicious food, good portions ~ Good service (yay!) ~ Seems like it would be a great place to go to for drinks as well, they had a cute bar area! Upscale restaurant, upscale town...located in a shopping mall? My only reason for knocking down a star is the location. Found it hard to locate, as I didn't realize it was literally ATTACHED to the mall. Anyways. I've been told that all Lettuce Entertain You restaurants have a similar feel to them. I dine out often and don't understand that comment at all. Di Pescara has a loungy, inviting interior when you first enter, then an open dining area. I was meeting a girlfriend there for a girly date. We felt slightly pressured to order a drink - which we planned the entire time anyways - but were caught off guard with the persistence. Okay maybe this was another reason for knocking down a star! We LOVED that we were at a seafood location that served sushi! What an awesome way to start the meal. We had one of the spicy rolls that they offered and definitely enjoyed it. My friend ordered fish and the serving size was incredible. You will not be disappointed with portions here! You do get what you pay for. I ordered the cioppino, which I can't find on the menu as I write this review, but it was huge and delicious. Tasty bites of fresh fish, scallops and lobster in a spicy tomato broth. Absolutely delicious. Odd location but it's a great spot! read more

MMMMMMMMUSSELS!!!!! This place has my favorite mussels, though they recently got much spicier (not that i mind). Most everything here is a delight and i have yet to be disappointed by anything yet. Well, with exception for the fries they give with the sandwiches that are crunchy straw fries. They are annoying to eat because they are too small to eat one at a time and too crunchy to use a fork so i look like a slob eating these things lol. The service is almost always great. I have had a couple waitresses that have either had poor attitudes or who have taken far too long or outright forgot orders. On the flip side i have had some fantastic service here. In fact one of my girlfriend's favorite waitresses is here. The only 2 negatives i really have is that some of their prices are just over priced and their entrance foyer set up. Its a small space with people constantly blocking the foyer into the restaurant. frankly it seems insufficient to me. I wouldn't come here on a super regular basis but i have been several times and my GF's family are always coming here and i dont think i have ever been disappointed at the food. Went with the wife and my mot her for a celebration of sorts. We found this place on the restaurant groups website (Lettuce Entertain You) and decided to give it a shot. Plus, we were in the mood for seafood. First off, it's a little pricy. Fortunately, we had a couple giftcards that helped a lot, but nonetheless, you are definitely paying more but the quality is way above the norm. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff that goes above and beyond to make you comfortable. Lastly, the food was perfect. Literally. The only downside was that it's in the Northbrook Court Mall and the parking is a pain in the rear end. Go and enjoy! read more

We went here for dinner last night. Our waiter was very friendly. We always had water and our food came out in a timely matter. Our food was delicious. We tried the Artichoke Alla Marco, we didn't know what to expect and it was delicious. We also had some salad, shrimp and sushi. It was all very tasty, the portions were more than enough. A poor experience at this establishment tonight. Certainly, it was well below par for a Lettuce-ran establishment; that being said, I've noticed an overall drop in quality across the chain as of late. A few lowlights: Menus were filthy, greasy. Three of the five at the table literally had food crusted between the pages, and four of the five had torn places with olive oil stains on the exposed paper parts of the menu where the plastic had worn or cracked. My girlfriend's wine glass had lipstick marks and remnants of the previous glass of wine clearly visible. My food came out lukewarm, on a worn, very scratched plate that had many sets of greasy fingerprints and even some actual dirt around the edge. ($40 fish entree) Sent it back with the manager and was replaced promptly (and was good), but still had that awkward ten minutes of sitting and watching my family eat their food with an empty spot in front of me. Our first waiter was fairly rude while dealing with the dirty menus and was quickly replaced by another who was fine. The manager offered to comp a drink or two and an app, we accepted, got the bill, nothing was comped, manager was nowhere to be found. Decided it wasn't worth the time to gripe and paid and left. TL;DR: $275 plus tip for six people. Food was decent overall, service was mediocre, all wrapped up in a dirty and disorganized restaurant. Not somewhere I'll be returning. If anyone from Lettuce corporate actually bothers to read these reviews, this is the third place of yours on my "never again list," the first being Wildfire Glenview due to the tremendous decrease in food and service quality over the last few years, and the second being Ema downtown, due to cost vs uninspired and bland food. This place is always packed even on a weeknight! It must be all the upper class retirees or non-working people that are always dining here. The last time I was here, someone was waiting for their Jaguar at the valet. This restaurant is at Northbrook Court and I must add there is plenty of parking. I've been here twice & they are always busy; waiters and waitresses are bustling around all the time. I remember sitting by the aisle close to the washroom once and always getting bumped into. I think they crammed too many tables into the restaurant. If you're lucky and sit in a larger booth, you might even get some comfy pillows- those are actually nice. The miso-glazed black cod with broccolini is literally melt in your mouth good. That fish is naturally oily, flakes off easily, and tender. I like it but I can only have so much of it because of its oiliness. Our waitress was very enthusiastic and she sold me on this chicken dish that was a special of the day. I forgot the name of it but it was Amish chicken stuffed with spinach and cheese on a bed of mushroom risotto. It was delicious! A work collegue and I went here for lunch on a weekday afternoon. The place was fairly busy at 1:30 pm which I thought was a good sign. I had a farmhouse type salad that had cranberries, blue cheese, apples and pears in it. It was pretty good. The service was good too...when I asked the server what the difference was between a small salad and a dinner salad and he was straight up telling me the dinner salad was gi-normous and the small was a human sized salad. Ordered carryout from Di Pescara after a trip to see the drive-through holiday light show at Northbrook Court. A special birthday dinner from one of our favorite restaurants in the Northern burbs. The veggie chopped salad is outstanding, and a large was perfect for my family of 5. The Ahi tuna appetizer is to-die-for! Had to get 2 so we could all really enjoy the flavors and the freshness. For main courses, we ordered BBQ salmon over green beans, horseradish-crusted whitefish, chopped steak with peppers and onions, and a burger for my youngest. Everyone loved their main dishes, although my youngest didn't like the brioche bun that the burger was served on because it was so moist. For kids, I'd suggest a pretzel bun or any other type of bun that isn't greasy. And my teen son thought the chopped steak should be larger. Aside from that, everyone loved their food. In a display of internet dependence, we made our 5:30pm reservation for dinner online. A good thing because this place fills up early. By 6:00pm, the place looked full and there was a bit of a wait. The crowd was largely what I'd expect from a Northbrook restaurant. The scattered family or young couple and more older folks in the 65+ range that spent more on their gawdy jewelry then most families make in a year. The funniest comment of the night came from an older man at the table next to us, a group of 3 couples, describing his snow week with his wife. "I've been with my wife for a week straight, I want to kill myself." The same wife was complaining to her company how the restaurant gave away the corner table they were supposed to have and how upset she was... and who said "perspective" was dead. The nausea generated by the self-centered crowd was quickly overtaken by how good the food was. We ordered the artichoke appetizer, sprinkled with balsamic. It isn't the standard steamed artichoke, but is disassembled and presented on a flat plate. For meals, they had a spectacular special, half lobster, mixed with shrimp, breadcrumbs, asparagus and served with a butter sauce. What a treat! My wife had the queen crab, which they precut for her to avoid the messy crab experience in public. Dinner for 2, with drinks and a shared appetizer was about $80.00, so it falls somewhere in the lower expensive category. Most dinner entrees are in the $19-25 range. We eat here weekly with my elderly family member. If you are looking for a place to take family for a nice dinner in the burbs - this is it. The wait staff is super friendly and easy going. It seems like they know many of the customers as regulars. We joke that there is crack in the food because it isn't always the most high quality, especially for the price, but you just want to keep eating it. Their ice cream is fantastic. The place is fairly small but very nice inside with cozy lighting and large booths as well as tables - although they cram a lot of seating into the space which could be uncomfortable if it was packed. I have to knock off a star for their lack of tap beer but that's me. We both had their homemade lemonade which was really good and refreshing. Also the rustic bread they serve with a basil infused olive oil was awesome. I started with a bowl of clam chowder which was excellent. My wife had the chopped salad and an angry lobster roll and both were very good. I had the lobster-shellfish boil in a spicy tomato base. it was good but I don't think I would order it again. Great restaurant. Food, service, decor are all wonderful. This evening I was there with three friends. Our table was too close to the table behind us where an elderly (angry) man began to complain that my friend was bumping into him. My friend went to the host to request a different table. The wait staff moved us with lightning speed and the host came over to apologize which was not necessary as it was not his fault but very appreciated. To our surprise our wonderful waitress, Amy, informed us the dessert was going to be comped for each of us!!! Okay. So overall I really liked this restaurant. Everything was GOOD - but I can't seem to justify giving it more than 3 stars. Ordered 2 Appetizers: Crispy shrimp pescara - Fried shrimp for the most part...so, naturally it was pretty good! But not much else to it. Didn't taste much 'spice ' from the sauce. Also tried the Artichoke alla marco which i thought was well done - just the right amount of balsamic and some shaved parmesean. For my entree I tried the miso glazed sea bass - delish! The fish was cooked absolutely perfect. The sugar in the glaze allowed for some carmelization when sauteed, giving it a nice textural crunch that complemented the fish nicely. Served over some buttery sauteed spinach- very well done. Dessert was peppermint ice cream w/ hot fudge sauce. UHhhhh??? Why have I never had this before---Awesome!!!! Fudge comes on the side so you can add at your own discretion. Cons: Slightly overpriced-I think many of these reviews are from off the lunch menu. I personally love this place for Lunch only. It is one of my top favorites. The salads are absolutely outstanding and huge. Dinner is ok, but not my choice for a dinner place. The dining room is a little bit cramped, but it's fine for lunch. The bar area is more cozy - but service can be very slow. Bartender is not attentive at all - make sure you have a dedicated waiter. Make reservations for lunch or get there early - fills up quick. I would recommend this place for lunch. read more
