I was looking to make a spare key of an existing car key I had in my possession (flip key with multiple buttons). I called the office number, who said a technician would give me a call within 10 minutes for a quote. After being quoted, I called around dealerships, Ace Hardware, other car key companies, and none could complete it as quickly nor at a lower price. The technician (Tom) came out to me, and made the key within 15 minutes. You have the option to meet them, and they will waive the $35 service fee. Total time from calling the office to key completion was little less than an hour on a Friday afternoon (factoring in my calls to match their price). Professional, affordable, and efficient! Diamondback Lock and Key caused $7,746.93 worth of damage to my SUV by attempting to program a new key fob. DO NOT USE DIAMONDBACK LOCK AND KEY IF YOU HAVE A SMART KEY FOB. PLEASE BEWARE, THIS COMPANY PARTICIPATES IN UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES. All of my attempts to contact the business have been unsuccessful. I hope this review prevents others from having the same experience I did. Read below for context. On January 29, 2024, I contacted Diamondback Lock and Key to program an additional key to my 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. We had one working key that I had taken with me on a business trip and my wife needed an extra key programmed. As this is a new car, we had no previous history of any electronic or ignition-related issues prior to Diamondback Lock and Key attempting to program a new key. After providing my vehicle information over the phone, an associate named Luna was dispatched to our home on Monday, January 29, to program a new key. After several unsuccessful attempts to program the key, she said she was unable to program the key and instructed us to take the car to the dealership. By this time, the car battery had died. I sent our existing key to my wife overnight via FedEx and she called AAA the next morning to get the car started. The battery was replaced for $259.95 + tax, but the car still would not start. We had it towed to Earnhardt Toyota Service Department to diagnose the issue. Upon inspection, the dealer told us they were having an issue with the key not registering in the vehicle ECU. The vehicle was not going into "READY" status when commanded to start. Diamondback Lock and Key caused damage to the immobilizer on the vehicle when she was attempting to program a new key. Per Toyota: "The smart key system has 3 separate ECUS that allows the system to function. When the lock smith attempted to program the new key to the vehicle it not only locked out the smart key ECU and the certification ECU, it also locked out the immobilizer ECU." "After speaking with Toyota engineers, was instructed to replace the Certification (Smart Key) ECU and steering lock ECU to see if the system would now allow the smart reset. Replaced Certification ECU and Steering Lock ECU, performed ECU Registration process and confirmed # of registered keys in Certification ECU now shows 0 however still unable to register original key during registration process indicating that is being locked out by the Immobilzer ECU (ID Code Box), likely due to the outside attempt at a forced key registration. Next recommended repair per TAS engineers and Toyota flow chart is to replace immobilizer ECU (located behind a/c box assembly)" The total amount for repairing the damage caused by Diamondback Lock and Key was $7,746.93. I have called Diamondback Lock and Key at least 10 times since the incident to speak with the owner or manager and the dispatch line says they are unable to provide any information and will pass my information to the company. I have emailed the company's customer service with the invoice for repairing the damage they caused and have received no response. I also filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau (Complaint #21333747). Nonexistent customer service. I called them last Sunday to schedule an appointment to have a new lock set installed on my front door. They scheduled me for the following day from 12-2. I took a half day off work to make sure I'd be home, and no one showed up or called me. I called them at 4 PM and was told, "it looks like the tech forgot to call you. I'll have him call you back now." Needless to say, no one ever called back or showed up to do the work. I was completely blown off by this company, with no explanation. read more

I very seldom write poor reviews, but I am leaving one today. I had an ignition issue with my 2015 Honda Accord. The key would enter the ignition, but would not turn. After an hour diagnosis, the technician from Diamondback Lock and Key, who will remain nameless (I do know the person's name), said a NEW ignition switch would have to be ordered. The part I was told is extremely hard to get, but I got lucky as they located one and would be here in 3 to 5 business days. To make matters worse, the technician left the car undrivable! The technician apologized and said that nothing could be done until the new part arrived!!! The new part was $540 and I need to put down a deposit of $150. After this technician left, I just felt uneasy and that I was being deceived. I called several other local locksmiths and found one who was 99% sure he could fix the issue without a NEW part. This new locksmith arrived the next morning and 'rebuilt' the ignition switch that I was told by Diamondback Lock and Key, was NOT repairable! An absolute LIE! I had been quoted a price of between $1,200 and $1,300 for the new ignition switch and keys by Diamondback Lock and Key. The new locksmith that saved the day, rebuilt the ignition switch and provided 2 NEW keys and fobs, for $700! The technician who took my $150 deposit would not credit back the deposit. I called the technician to resolve this and was told, 'I believe in KARMA.' Well, so do I. read more

So very disappointed in this company!! It has been almost 2 months now and nothing has been done to resolve the issue with my key fob. I noticed within a week that something was wrong with the remote. When trying to lock or unlock my doors it would take about 2-3 clicks before it would work. As a matter of fact the day they made my key they were having problems with it and had to re program the key. Days went by and it only got worse, my panic alert suddenly started to go off with no reason, I contacted their office and spoke with Dave. He was very nice and scheduled for a technician to come out and look at my issue. Never got a call from the technician. I called Dave the next day and accused him of that I didn't receive a call from the tech. I was not able to schedule for a technician to come out due to work schedule. Finally I had some time soo I called the office and once again never got a call from a technician. Waited all day and nothing! I called the office the next day in the morning and finally received a call from a tech. Lol the technician didn't get to my place until 9-930 at night. WOW!! This is where it gets ridiculous! I told the tech right from the beginning what the issue was. WHY DID THIS GUY GO TO MY CAR AND PUT THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION LOOKED AT ME AND SHRUGGED HIS SHOULDERS AND SAID "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG!" I looked at this guy thinking "is he serious?" It was obvious that he DID NOT LISTEN TO ME! this really upset me! Long story short I explained and showed him the issue.. of course the issue happened about 2 -3 times while he was there. He said he had to call the office to see what he could do for me. Basically he said there was nothing he could do since my key was working and turned my car on. I was very upset and told him I would call the manager in the morning.- I am beyond feeling angry and disappointed. I selected this company out of many other lock and key companies because of the great reviews. I spent almost $300 on a key fob that does half the job it's suppose to do! Today was the final straw, waited all day for the manger to meet up with my mechanic to get this issue resolved, no call no text NOTHING!! In my experience with this company Don't get these guys until you get the full cost of coming out to estimate charges, they charge a service call of $35 just to come out, however, I called first and asked if there's a estimate charge he replied NO, afterwards I called back after paying up I questioned the service call he says it's not on the recording but it was, I used the words "estimate" instead if "service call" so I got ripped off! Call around there's other qualified locksmiths for half of what I ended up paying $100 just for one door rekey. It was like an auction at my front door the lock guy started at $150 I told him no I can get someone else for half that to rekey. But after I paid $100 for the one door rekey and two keys I caught the "service call" added for $35. Btw he took a very long time to make two keys. Look elsewhere for rekeying it's safer. read more

I ordered a locksmith through Diamondback Locksmith. They ended up sending me these guys. The prices Diamondback quoted me were much different then the price Locksmith Guru charged. They initially charged me $180 for a door that took 2 min to open. I was not told ahead of time what the price would be. They said the price depends on how complex the lock was... Initially Diamondback estimates it would be around $80. Aside from price, I was told that the locksmith could be at my house in 20 min. It took them about 1.5 hours which included me calling back and following up 3-4 times as I was in a time sensitive situation. This was a mix up on Diamondbacks end. Long story short, I ended up reaching out to their management for what I believed was an excessive charge. After several weeks they credited me back almost half back, which I think was fair and an appropriate way to handle it. Giving a much higher review than normal due to managements willingness to make it right. read more

I am so thankful for Daniel at Diamondback lock and key. My husband and I just moved into our home. The front door has a setting where it locks no matter if you lock it manually or not. My husband and I went outside to speak to the landscapers and could not get back in. Our baby was inside sleeping on the couch and we had no way inside to get to him. I lost the keys to my car and had to have them replaced. The first quote was 200 dolllars, then they had to flash my computer, went to 400. Then they had to replace the ignition cylinder, now its 700. Ok, I was good with that. They came back the next day with the wrong ignition. It was a friday so then I had to wait until mon or tues. Called me on tuesday and said they had the part, they would fix the car on wednesday. No call on Wednesday. I had to call them on Thursday to figure out when I am getting my car fixed. It had already been 1 week without my car. They finally came today thursday and fixed it. But they either put in the wrong ignition cylinder or it was put together wrong. The car does run and work but the ignition key is set in so it just looks terrible. When they finished the job, just charged me the flat 700 dollars, offered no discount or even condolensces for the inconvenience they had put me thru the last week. RUN FROM THIS SERVICE! Unaccountable I would seriously advise against using this service. When I had problem with key made by Nick he suggested that the key wouldn't work to open the trunk because I was standing too close to the vehicle. When it wouldn't work again I requested a call and instead he appeared at my home but I hadn't been at home ......which is why I requested he call. After that I never heard back from he or the manager and the key still doesn't work two months later. It doesn't open the trunk, the doors nor does it start the car (I have a keyless ignition). Sure he's pleasant. I would too if I got $400 for an inferior product I was probably paying less than half of what I charged. A huge mark up would make me happy too especially if I didn't have to be accountable for its usefulness. read more
