I came in pretty early for my flight and decided to check this place out. There is a ton of seats at this restaurant. I got a Burbank pizza. They gave me a buzzer and it went off after 10 minutes, but was premature. It took 13 minutes total for my pizza to be ready. It's a bit big, so it would've nice to split it with another person. It's a pretty decent pizza. The crust is thin and has a good chew. It's a very simple pizza done right. The sauce and toppings are good and the only setback is that I think it could've used some more sauce. read more

Nice place to enjoy while waiting on your flight to depart. Good customer service from the bartenders. Note* the bartender was heavy handed so that's always a plus! The price points were on the higher end and they didn't offer small plates or an assortment of appetizers, since I wasn't really hungry I inquired about it. Friendly service, food arrived fairly quickly. I appreciated being able to order something healthy at the airport. I selected The California Obsession salad and it was delicious. Napa cabbage, chopped romaine, scallions, grated carrots, cilantro, shredded chicken, toasted almonds, mandarin oranges, rice vinegar, tamari, honey, toasted sesame oil, garlic-ginger dressing. The shredded chicken was beautifully mixed throughout so you got some in every bite. Located inside Terminal 1 at the Burbank Airport, this is the first eatery with a bar that you'll encounter. There is a burger stand up the way that also has a bar. However, it's much smaller. My flight was delayed so I stopped in for a drink. I had to wait a bit for a table to open because other stranded travelers had the same idea. I ordered a Sidecar. It tasted good but was missing the sugar rim. Unfortunately, the drink menu did not include prices so I was shocked when I got the $25 bill for one cocktail. Never thought I would have one of the best bagel breakfast sandwiches at an airport. I got the cheddar bagel with eggs, cheddar and ham with a side of fruit. OMG!!! it was so good. The Wagyu Burger was perfectly cooked, medium rare, very tender, tasty, with an abundant amount of pickles, onions, and their special sauce was made the burger pop. I had gotten a manhattan thinking it was just gonna be mediocre food, but after digging into the burger, I realized I needed an IPA to chase it down with. My husband and I checked out Diane Mina's Backyard Bar and Eats at the Burbank Airport while flying home over the weekend. We had an early flight and wanted to eat something quick for breakfast. I ordered an Iced Vanilla Latte and shared the Breakfast Sausage Bagel. The bagel was super good and the sausage on it was spicy and very flavorful. The latte was the perfect pick me up and it was not too sweet - just the way I like it! I like that you can either order at the counter for a grab and go or they do have staff that walk around and will also take your order. They even had a cold section for premade items. The inside is pretty big with lots of tables and even a bar area. They also have a huge wall of TVs so it is a great place to hang out at when waiting for your flight. Staff was very friendly and attentive. They were constantly checking in on us. Overall, we were really impressed with the food and coffee considering airports don't have the greatest reputation in that department. We scrunched in with all our luggage and ordered a few things from their massive menu: huli huli bbw pineapple, poke salad and a side of chips and guac. It was all pretty decent, but unfortunately priced with the insane airport markup you'd expect. The real winner was what happened when I attempted to recreate the poke tower appetizer from Pacific Catch in norcal. For the uninitiated, it's chips, guac, and poke. I'm really conflicted about this review. It's an airport restaurant to start, which is rarely good, in an especially run down airport (Bob Hope/ Burbank) in desperate need of remodeling. This place, however, is perhaps the only half way decent place to get a meal. They're at least trying. (?) There are two sides, a grab n go and order at the counter or a table service portion. It's not all that clear. We ordered at the counter portion and sat in the table service portion as there was little space elsewhere. Our order was two breakfast burritos and two coffees. Admittedly the portion was good, but come on, $75.00! Outrageous. Yes, I know it's an airport. The burrito was tasty enough, lots of scrambled egg (real eggs?) and you can get it with bacon, ham or sausage. We got ham. It was adequately prepared and warm, packaged in a plastic container that you can take on a plane. (I wouldn't). There was a side container of a mild dark salsa, which was satisfying and added taste. It came with fruit which was fresh and definitely contributed to the meal. The grapes seemed to have been soaked in sugar water. The table service side has a bar and many of the early morning patrons were having their alcohol drinks both at the bar and tables. The two servers I observed were hustling yet seemed impersonal in their service. This place is attempting to be a bit upscale compared to most airport establishments, yet appears to be rather 'long in the tooth' and sterile, as another reviewer characterized it. Hulu Hulu chicken is interesting in the that it's inside of a pineapple (pix). It was pretty good, smaller portion, about $28, they charge a $1 sustainable fee, Whatever that is. Probably not worth it but it's an airport and seemed like the most interesting thing to eat here. It's pretty sterile design, but not too loud, probably because of lower ceilings. It is criminal that a salad and a coffee is over $40 here. Not only that, but on my receipt is a mandatory "sustainability fee" yet EVERYTHING is served in single use plastic! How awful. I just came back from Pasadena - home of the Cheeseburger. It used to be a Wolfgang Puck's which I discovered on a trip back from either Burbank or Pasadena one time and was blown away by how fantastic the cheeseburger was. I thought well airport plus Wolfgang Puck - it will probably be above average airport food but it was amazing! I was sitting there with ketchup and burger grease all over my face in shock that I was eating the best burger I've ever had...at an AIRPORT!!! The following year I looked for WP's and was very sad to see it was replaced by Diane Mina's. But the nice girl behind the counter said "our cheeseburgers are really good too" and while almost any cheeseburger is good in my opinion, I didn't expect it to be as good as Puck's. But OMG it was! I thought maybe it was a fluke or I was just really hungry so it tasted really good, but then this year I stopped in again before my flight back to Oakland and it still was just as amazing as before! Lots of fries which are also good. I couldn't eat them all. Seating is nice for an airport, staff is friendly, the place is kept clean, the condiments, cutlery and napkins are well stocked etc. If you are traveling thru Burbank airport and need food, this is the ONLY place to eat in my opinion. I don't often use Burbank Airport--it will always be Bob Hope Airport to me, and it's nowhere near Hollywood, so its new name sucks *and* is misleading--but when I do, I often end up eating at this space, which is on at least its fourth different name in the past fifteen years if my math is correct. Whatever. The name may change, but the overall operation remains more or less the same. (Are naming rights for airport restaurants sold like they are for sports venues?) But with each name change, prices increase too. I was prepared to hate my food, but it was pretty good. Thankfully, I was flying so early in the morning that the bar half of the seating area wasn't completely full of drunk people, and almost every table was open, so I got to scarf down my overpriced huevos rancheros in peace. If this weren't in an airport, it would be two stars, but they've added quite a few items to their menu, and the service and efficiency were excellent, although the value wasn't--but the value never is in an airport. What will Diane Mina's turn into next? We may never know, as they're constructing brand-new terminal buildings on the other side of the runways, and the current terminal building is scheduled to be demolished when the new buildings open in 2026. read more
