Diane's Desserts deserves every star possible. I have never been more impressed with a cafe and bakery. The salads, sandwiches, salmon, soup, sangria, iced teas, and coffees are all recommended, along with their fruit pies (my favorite is the peach), angel cake, butter cookies, and even their brownies are all absolutely delicious. Based originally in Roslyn, NY for about 25 years, the second location has now been converted from a bakery/cafe to an upscale dining experience with full service lunch and dinner available. The chef, Nick Molfetta has been a gold star to this establishment and you absolutely must try the Woodbury location. Diane is truly a master of the art of pastry because these treats are so memorable that people travel miles to get them. I've seen customers rave about her food and they bring more friends and family to experience it as well. The bakery features delicious breakfast muffins, scones and rolls. Come early because the hoards break down the doors in the morning and the danishes are fabulous when served right off the baking trays. Those famous cheesecake bars and tarts cannot be found anywhere else and the unbeatable Triple Berry Pie is a must have. Her luscious pear almond tart is something to tempt you with a yummy cup of Earl Grey or hot coffee. Lattes, mochas, cappuccino and espresso are also available. The most popular option is the raspberry cheese square but the brownies are moist and delicious for those who love chocolate. As well, the Rallye cake is a delectable devilish treat of dark chocolate devil's food cake topped with a dark chocolate ganache. It's not death by chocolate...it's better! The hazelnut biscotti is finely complimented by a cappuccino or espresso and sitting down in the cafe with friends will remind you of France or Montreal with the soothing jazz or vintage tunes that can be heard in the cafe. The space is something to enjoy in this new Woodbury, NY location as those who know the Roslyn location will nod in agreement as the only shortcoming of the Roslyn location. Bring your family for weekend breakfast including organic yogurt, fresh fruit salads and homemade granola or steel cut oatmeal, Challah french toast or the adorable sweet potato biscuit sandwiches made with applewood smoked bacon. Diane's Bakery Cafe is a cute cafe that can be enjoyed with a friend or a significant other, but the mission for Diane's was to acquire pie for Pi Day. Each pie is $26, so not a cheap pie; however, if you compare to what you can get in the city, Diane's Bakery is a good price! FOOD: I got apple pie and mixed berry pie. I would have to say, what I love about it is that the homemade taste of the pie crust and also the not too sweet filling are on spot with Diane's pies. I always cringe when I eat a pie that's too sweet, but not these ones. The apple pie had the nice soft apples with the right amount of runny sweet apple juice at the bottom. The mixed berry pie was also an explosion of flavor of sweet berries and wrapped around in a nice flaky crust. Got it to go and consumed the following day. I'd have to say this shop has the BEST salad and pies! I go here at least every weekend or every other weekend to get a small pie or grab a salad to go. The pumpkin pie and triple berry pie are to die for but the reason for the 3 star review is that the two boys that are working at the salad bar area. They have the worst customer service, they don't smile, mumble their words and definitely no have no emotions to anything. They talk as if the customers are bothering them with your presence. The only kid I would prefer everyone to get serviced from is the tall curly haired kid. He definitely doesn't have a smile nor emotions but he is not as rude and unpleasant as the other two kids. Also if you are in a rush definitely don't go to the salad area to get anything the pace of work is ridiculously slow. read more

I come here almost every weekend that I come back home to see my family (grew up a Roslynite, now a Brooklynite). Diane's is a charming country style cafe. It has seating both indoors and outdoors (for the nicer weather). Although it's frequented often by jappy moms, the vibe is generally really friendly and nice. As far as pastries - mmm. I don't really need to go into detail. I just extol in general. My favorite, however, is certainly the rasberry jam cheesecake. The lunch and breakfast options are also extensive. One of my favorite places of the area. Away from the busy Northern Blvd, the place tucked away in a cozy area with an ample parking in the lot next door. Whenever I need to celebrate big or small events of my life, I come here to pick up various baked goods. Everyone in my extended family loves Diane's sweets. They have upstairs which is really quiet and cozy. I find it romantic to have a quiet afternoon tea there. Service can get a bit spotty though. Another customer complained that her breakfast bread didn't have enough butter. Instead of fetching more butter to satisfy the customer, a staff simply said that they ran out of butter. It isn't about me but I thought it is ridiculous that a bakery runs out of butter so I knew the staff was bluffing. The customer got upset and ran out the shop. A few minutes later, another staff brought in a bowl of butter. I thought the whole thing that happened right in front of my eyes was just nasty. The staff was lazy and clearly didn't want to help the customer. Thankfully that didn't happen to me. Other than that, I love this bakery! read more

EVERYTHING IS GOOD IN HERE! My favorite is the banana cream pie and the tarts. Topped with glazed bananas and the cream is JUST right. My dad & I usually celebrate with the sweets from here :) or give them as gifts to friends/family. I also really like the scones & muffins here. They're really buttery and not too sweet. The brownies are CRUNCHY on the outside but super gooey and chocolately inside, that was the only thing I found super sweet though and had to slow down while eating it. I have been hearing about Diane's* for years and finally got roped into a visit late on a Friday afternoon. The most shocking thing for me was the reasonable price point (annoyingly, they do not post, and I was treating, so I braced for the worst) and the second surprise was the sheer mediocrity of all the items I tried. Pecan Tart - tasted very good but was either a day old or stored improperly as it was dry to the point of being unpalatable (the chocolate drizzled on top was also melted upon arrival in the bag, so they may want to look into that). Brownie - considered 'fudgy' but I rarely see the appeal given how easy they are to make, and better. Apple pie - borderline awful, even given my low expectations for mid-July. *The sign out front, as pictured, says Diane's Bakery, and their site @ trattoriadiane.com is headed Diane's Bakery Cafe, so I really don't know why the listing is 'Diane's Desserts', but it must be a Gold Coast thing. read more

Great neighborhood gem for sweets or a bite they have lunch/brunch and it's delicious. A little pricey, the quality is there.

Diane's is definitely an estrogen magnet.. lol. Not necessarily something negative, but lunch time in Port Washington seems to attract a very LARGE amount of middle aged women that seem to meet for lunch and gossip the afternoon away. On to the food -- I've been here once, and have yet to try anything else. I got the chicken pot pie -- $9.50 and a brownie. The pot pie crust was the best part, otherwise I feel the pie was lacking flavor, very little chicken, it was satisfying to a degree, however I won't go looking for this next visit. Brownie was pretty damn good, not an overly fudgey saturated brownie (I hate brownies like that), but it was just enough richness and "cakeness" to satisfy my brownie requirements. Will definitely return to try out some other stuff. read more

I come to Diane's for the savory as opposed to the sweet, so I'll limit my review to the savory. The savory side of the store is a cafeteria style "buffet" so to speak where the price is based upon weight and there are pre-made sandwiches, pizzas and quiches. I usually stick to their house salad, which has craisins, walnuts, and goat cheese, add on a piece of oven roasted teriyaki salmon, some beet salad, and corn and avocado salad. In season they make a great butternut squash ravioli. There are also always chicken cutlets available (simply grilled, bbq'ed and fried). My salad usually costs about $12. The space is very country and it's very casual. Good place for a weekend lunch. The only drawback is that if you don't like what they're serving that day, you're out of luck. read more

I recommend the angel food cake, especially if you don't have the biggest sweet tooth- it's light but a great dessert. My mom loves it so much that we got it for her birthday. The place is very cute but overall I wasn't impressed. I came in the early afternoon and they had already run out of the specials they had listed on their board. I ended up buying six cinnamon raisin rugelach and a banana cream pie. The rugelach would have been delicious had it not been completely stale right through to the center. The mini banana cream pie was the strangest looking and worst tasting banana cream pie I've ever had. There was a strange lemon after-taste and the cream tasted like pure butter. My bill came to $15. We had lunch here in addition to picking up some cookies for later. The cookies were the most outstanding part of the experience - we got different kinds of cookies with a butter cookie base, and they were all good. My favorites were the ones with nuts. For lunch we split a panini (panino?). It was more standard but not bad - melty mozzarella with olives & some greens. We happened to go during the week and late in the day, and the seating area was kind of odd - it took a long time for our food to come and employees kept walking in & out of the restaurant, but this may have just been due to the odd time we were there. read more

Came in for dessert seeing as this was the only dessert place I could find in the area through yelp. I got the chocolate cheesecake and an iced mocha cappuccino. My girlfriend got the vanilla coconut cupcake and an iced coffee. The drinks were fairly good with the exception of a little too much mocha flavor in the cappuccino. Probably should've stuck with a regular. The vanilla coconut cupcake was alright. The cake itself could of been much softer and a lot more moist but unfortunately it was not. As for the chocolate cheesecake, DO NOT get it. I was so excited to have it and say down, stuck my fork in it and already before taking a bite knew something was wrong. Cheesecake is supposed to be creamy and melt in my mouth. This did everything but. It was hard as if it had been sitting there for a couple of days. I didn't eat it. I complained about it and they did give me a refund for it which should be expected. But it's very safe to say, Diane's will never be seeing this face again. read more

If you look up "quaint" in the dictionary you'll see a picture of Diane's Bakery Cafe. When you walk in you're immediately greeted with glass cases of beautiful pastries, cookies, cakes, and pies. Once you will yourself to keep walking, you enter the rest of the bottom floor of the cafe, with seating, and the front counter to order your food. It's not table service, so you go up to the front to either order a sandwich, or fill a plate a mile high with all of the delicious salads, pastas, veggies, etc, that they have on display. Their menu and food selection changes slightly everyday so you'll always get something new each time you go. The downside is the price. A normal size plate of food and a drink will set you back nearly $20. A little much for a casual lunch; but the food is worth it. read more

I'm so sad that after 2 years of living in Manhasset, I only just discovered this bakery a month before we moved. My family and I are huge dessert nuts, however being Asian and knowing Asian desserts - we prefer our desserts on the less sweet side. It's extremely difficult to find desserts in New York that are not overly sugared or sweet, especially when it comes to cakes, pies, and cookies. Diane's Bakery does it so perfectly, I almost died when my husband brought home a little assortment the first time and couldn't believe this had been so close to us for so long. Since we discovered it, I've gone at least once a week, purchased desserts everytime we visited family, and have taken visiting friends here - I can't stop raving about it.
