This is my favorite lunch place near the OSU campus. I am a big fan of Korean food and I have had a lot of experience. This restaurant serves very good quality Korean food! My favorites are soon tofu and pork bulgogi. Their dishes are not very cheap overall but the lunch specials are of great value. The Korean lady who runs the restaurant is also very nice. I have sushi at least once a month and I have tried at least 10 different sushi places in Columbus, and this is the only one I have visited more than once. I would say it has the best sushi in Columbus. I am rather picky with my sushi, and was very surprised by the freshness of the fish, the creative rolls, and the roll size. Awesome sushi rolls and great service! Took my friend here for her birthday and neither of us had been before. We had egg rolls, a California roll, an especially great spicy tuna roll, and one of the tempura rolls. Diaspora is conveniently located near campus. We grab a quick bite while waiting to pick someone up at OSU. We had the avocado roll, agedashi tofu and split a tempura udon. It was so much good we took home half the udon. The service was friendly and welcoming. The avocado in the avocado roll was fresh and plentiful. It was a nice treat and we will be back. read more

The food is awesome there, but the name is really hard to read. They have menu with Korean on it, and I had a bowl of rice filled with many kinds of vegetables, before eating they pour the pork oil on it to make it taste better. This place is a tiny slice of heaven nestled in the hustle and bustle of campus. A quaint little place, seats about 30. The lunch special ebidon is absolutely killer. The sushi isn't the sushi you'd find in a Michelin rated sushi palace, but it's pretty darn good for High St Columbus. I've probably been here half a dozen or more times. Their pork bulgogi is ....definitely the best bulgogi I have ever had. I always like ordering it when I need some comfort food. Their sushi is also for lack of better words 'good'. Prices are a bit higher, but the food is definitely worth it. The owner who is always there, is a nice lady. However, I have had two bad experiences while dining in this restaurant. The first bad experience, another large party came in and she just pretty much without asking moved my friends purse so she could get another chair. We found that to be really rude. Another experience was during lunch time, when the whole restaurant was pretty crowded. We got very poor service and our food came out perhaps over an hour later after we ordered it. Granted, there were four others in our party. But, someone in my party even went up to her twice to see what was happening. However, I guess despite the bad experiences the fact that I keep coming back does say a lot about their food :) Definitely, try the pork bulgogi. At least four or five other people I know have have tried it and we all say its delicious! read more

Some of the most friendly service in town and the food is outstanding. The food quality is very high for a campus restaurant and the prices are extremely reasonable. We love the beef bulgogi there. A university area restaurant that has a utilitarian, "fast food" or airport feel. Food is pretty good - authentic, but not something we would go out of our way to find. The Japanese-Korean restaurant three blocks further north on High Street has better Korean dishes and a nice little sushi bar. For those of you looking for authentic Korean in Columbus, my Korean friends and colleagues all seem to like Kaya best - not counting eating at home, of course! read more

It is a kind of sea food noodle with soup. This noodle include shrimp, crab, onion, sleeve-fish roll, cabbage, cucumber，carrot, and noodles! You can find jambon is a nutritious and a balanced diet provides food. The sea foods and vegetables in it are very fresh and the noodle is Soft but chewy it tastes very well. We love Diaspora. My best friend and I work at OSU and have been coming once a week for lunch for years. The owners know us and happily greet us when we come in, and one of the owners, Stella, absolutely adores my three-year-old, picking him up and cuddling him when we arrive. He even asks to eat there, where he devours an entire plate of don katsu. The sushi was always tasty, but has been amazing lately. The ramyun, combo box, and yook jae gang are the best things on the menu, and the homemade side dishes make every meal even better. It's always packed for lunch, but slower at dinner. If you're coming for dinner, definitely consider getting soju and beer to go with your meal. It's really nice to see a locally owned restaurant do so well. Came for lunch special, sushi was kroger quality. Shrimp tempura roll was aweful. The shrimp had obviously been fried and refrigerated, as it was cold and rubbery. I hadn't eaten anything all day and it was already 3 pm. I was walking buy, planning to go to Chipotle but saw their lunch special $7.95 for Bulgogi Dupbob and changed my mind in an instant. I was seated pretty quickly and the food was just perfect. The onions, beef marinade, and white rice tasted heavenly and satisfied my hunger pangs. Albeit the portion was on the smaller side, so I wasn't exactly full, but satisfied nonetheless. I received the check promptly and was planning on tipping 20-25% for the solid meal and good service but was confused when I saw that 20% tip on the electronic card reader was $1.71 instead of the $1.59 I had planned on paying. I then realized that they had made their calculations based on the post tax price of $8.55. Now, I am not a penny pincher by any means, but I don't want to pay tip on the tax that has nothing to do with the product Diaspora is offering. I'm not sure if this just has to do with the software for the card reader they were using, but it left a bad taste in my mouth because I work hard for my money, and like to know where its going. I find this tipping system to be deceiving as the customer would actually be paying 21.5% on their meal rather than 20%. While I enjoyed the food, I probably will not be returning due to the overall experience. Lesson: Do the math for yourself. read more

My last review was tentative and not articulate enough. I love this place. If I ever have a craving for sushi or an Asian beer I try to always shoot over here. Food was palatable but nothing to write home about. Pricey for the portion size. My entree had beef in it and the pieces of meat were very rough, chewy, and occasionally gristly. I went to diaspora for a few times since my first visit. I will recommend this restaurant to people who love to eat Korean food. It tastes like the local Korean food that I ate in Korea this summer. My favorite food in this restaurant is bibimbap (mixed rice with veggies and meat) and kimchi pork jambo (a kind of spicy soup with kimchi and pork inside). Another good point of this restaurant is its proximity to our school because it is just located on the High Street. The price of food is not too high and worth for the food. When I lived on campus I would eat at Diaspora nearly once a week. The reason I gave it four stars is because some of the meals seem overpriced and the TVs drive me nuts. The ramyum and udon noodles are OK, but nothing special. Korean entrees are pretty large and always hot and tasty. My favorites are the seafood noodle soup or bibm bahp. I almost always end up getting a sushi roll and have never been disappointed. I recommend going for lunch to catch a break on the prices. I really like the red dragon roll and you can get it for $9 during lunchtime. The staff is very friendly, but I did have a strange experience with a waiter who told me I wouldn't like any of the Korean dishes. Pretty sure he was fired recently... read more
