    Peach soju of course!

I absolutely love, love coming to this place! Diaspora is a Korean restaurant nestled in the plaza on High and Lane near campus. There's parking in a back so it's definitely worth the check out. I love Asian cuisine so this place is great for scratching that itch! I wanted to take out my friends for a delicious meal and they wanted to try this place. Kmusic playing in the back with for sports games on the TVs. We got some soju as well so don't miss out on that. They have many beverages from around Asia so feel free to try them out. I have had most of them. We got some dduk boki, jajangmyeong and beef dup bap,all awesome all tasty! We highly recommend for this dining experience. My friends was so happy to check it out! 5 starts

Very friendly. Good food. Very efficient and quick service. Good quality. Right near campus.

    Soon Tofu with seafood

We were here on business and the restaurant I had planned for dinner was closed. So we stumbled upon this place and I am so glad we did! UH-Maze-zing! My colleagues both ordered the deluxe box so they could sample different items. I had the soon tofu with seafood. By far the best tofu I've had since we went to Tokyo. It was so smooth and the broth was very flavorful. Plenty of seafood. Everyone left happily stuffed. Servers were super friendly. Very chill vibe. I will totally come back here next time we're in town.

We had a great experience at Diaspora. We came in on a Wednesday night around 6 pm and we were seated immediately. It's a smaller place with a pretty chill atmosphere. Our waiter was with us quickly to bring us drinks and take our order. We first were given several side dishes to try. Although I am pretty picky, I really enjoyed the cabbage. Then our main entrees came out. I ordered Bibim Bahp with chicken and it was delicious. It consisted of rice, veggies, chicken, and an egg. If I ordered this again I would likely get the hot version. My friend ordered the Dolsot Bibim Bahp, which is basically the hot version of Bibim Bahp. She really enjoyed her dish and the complexity of the flavors. Lastly, my other friend ordered Kimchee Dol Sot and said that it was delicious. Overall we had a great experience and I hope to return soon.

We came here with a group of 6 during an Ohio state game day (which means it's packed everywhere). Luckily we left the game early so it was before crowds started piling in. We were seated within 5 min and were able to get complimentary hot tea which was amazing after being in the cold for hours. A lot of people in reviews before me were complaining about service but honestly this is normal for family run businesses. The food makes up for the wait & we didn't feel rushed at all since we were there chatting for hours. Now for the food: The sushi rolls were HUGE. My cousin ordered 2 rolls and couldn't even finish one. They are seriously large. The udon noodle soup- this was perfect for me since I don't eat meat. The noodles were filling & the broth was tasty. Everyone else at the table got meat options and loved the food. They were also super quick to refill our teas/water which was appreciated. The only issue we encountered was they gave one serving of sides for 4 people so we had to ask for more which was easily accommodated. Overall, great restaurant!

Tasty local Asian Fusion with familiar and tantalizing Korean flavors. A great takeout option to satisfy your cheap sushi and noodle munchies. I recommend their fried foods as their tempura, tiger roll, and katsu are deliciously crunchy. I do not recommend their ramen since it tasted kind of like instant Shim Ramen, which is great but easy to make at home instead.

One of my go-to spots on campus for home made and well done ramen and noodle dishes. They are very consistent and it's always delicious. I leave feeling satisfied every time

Can't believe I never went here when I was at Ohio state! And I lived in north campus all 4 years. This is an awesome place to get Japanese and Korean. Ordered Uber eats and everything was delicious and good value. Salmon and avocado were both fresh on the geisha roll. Hand rolls were also great...though I don't love mashed fish too much. Prefer fresh fish with spicy Mayo instead but it didn't taste any less fresh. The samurai tacos had large pieces of shrimp. And the bulgogi was so tasty and had some fun toppings! I didn't try the heart attack (fried/stuffed jalapeños) but my husband said it was very rich with the cream cheese plus tempura... Japanese take on a jalapeño popper. Heart attack is a good name for it lol. Will definitely order again next time we can't decide between sushi and an Asian place with grill items!

    Kimchi chigee.

I've been coming to Diaspora off and on since they've been open (it's been a while). Sadly, I only make it over here about once a year now. I always start off with a bowl of edamame and a sushi roll. The sushi rolls are pretty large in size (which I appreciate since their rolls are a little on the pricier side compared to other sushi places). I always order a bowl of kimchi chigee too. The kimchi isn't as soft as I'd like it to be in the soup; however, the other flavors in the soup compliment the kimchi well (pork, tofu, etc). I don't know why I haven't tried many other items off of the menu, but I need to get better at doing that. I've seen huge bowls of soups and noodles come out and they all look pretty darn good. As of right now, their indoor dining is closed - only carry out is available. I was surprised by how well our food was packaged this last time around. They did really well considering I had a large bowl of soup! No spillage! I will definitely be back again soon and next time will order something new! Oh sidenote - no restaurant parking. You have to find a spot on any nearby street and walk on over!

Ramen is not your basic ramen - it was a really nice spicy flavor. The egg roll was very good as well.

Midway through my meal, they came around to light a candle at the table, which added such an intimate touch, and gave cozy date night energy in the best way. In fact, I believe I was sitting next to a couple having their first date. 2. Plating (4.5/5) The presentation did not disappoint. Everything came out looking polished and thoughtfully arranged. The edamame stood out because they generous with the flaky salt, which I personally loved. Sometimes places hold back, but this was well seasoned. 3. Customer Service (2.5/5) This is where things started to fall apart a bit. I stood at the front for about 12 minutes before being acknowledged, and the restaurant was nearly empty. I had to make eye contact with someone in the kitchen just to be seated. Service at the table wasn't much better. It took about 15 minutes just to get my drink order taken (which I had to flag the waitress down to order), and by that time I was ready to order my whole meal. I ordered an appetizer along with a couple of sushi rolls and some sake. I'm not sure if the waitress wasn't thinking about it, but she brought my rolls out before she even brought out my appetizer or my drink. The inconsistency was noticeable and took away from the experience. 4. Overall Taste (4.5/5) The food absolutely carried! I ordered a sweet potato roll and the Hoonie Roll, which ended up being my favorite part of the meal. Both were fresh, flavorful, and really well-balanced. Paired with the edamame and sake, everything came together nicely. 5. Overall Experience (3.9/5 ) Taking everything into account, the experience lands just under a 4. The food and atmosphere were strong, but the service created a noticeable disconnect. It's definitely one of those places where you'd go back for the food, but you'd hope the service catches up next time.

And after that soft opening with a regular menu, this week they introduced an all-you-can-eat menu as well. So of course I got there as soon as I could. Quite an extensive menu for AYCE too, though not as big as their standard one. And full of interesting stuff. Nigiri, raw rolls, cooked rolls, deep-fried rolls, specialty rolls, apps, ramen, hibachi, and more. I wanted to try everything, but even though I arrived hungry I just couldn't. Maybe 25 years ago I could have eaten twice as much, and when the students hear about this they will clean them out. It's just down from where Japanese Oriental Restaurant used to be, and I used to save up and pig out there with my friends. Now I eat a bit less, but I still figure I had about $60 worth of sushi for $30. I started with seaweed salad- big portion, and very tasty. Fresh and a little spicy. Then unagi- two big pieces, excellent, tender and flavorful. Then maguro- good, melt in your mouth. Next I tried their "dragon eggs"- deep fried avocado with kani and tuna. OMG. Again, a big portion (two whole avocados, halved and stuffed. Finally, two big rolls: the High Street roll with spicy tuna, and the Seashore roll with salmon, kani, and more. Wow. Big, and tasty. Best sushi in town? No, but up there. Really good. Service was great. They open at noon, at least on weekdays, and I was the first one in. The decor is cool- it's an old house, and they have made it modern but with vintage touches. The bathrooms and waiting area are super cool. There's a bar off to one side, a sushi bar in back, and lots of sleek but comfy seating. Also a huge patio and courtyard out front. Free street parking out front (except during rush hour.) Also a small lot in back. Get here. If you like sushi, or other Japanese food, you'll like it. If you like a bargain, you'll love it. $27, yes, not cheap; but for sushi it's not bad, and for AYCE sushi it is a steal. A cool place to hang out, not far from campus, and drink, and eat good food till you're stuffed.

Atmosphere was modern and soothing. You can get ramen, cooked dishes like tempura, salads, all kinds of things. There's a full bar as well, and areas with cozy or romantic seating. The design was actually pretty cool, you could eat with a group or sit up at a bar by yourself and feel very comfortable either way. The sushi menu itself includes more traditional Japanese sushi, which honestly is what I'd recommend from the AYCE menu. They even have sashimi, which is cut thinly- which is fine, if you want more you can just order more, that prevents excessive waste. Most AYCE places wouldn't offer sashimi anyway. But the traditional sushi, sashimi and rolls were the ones we liked best. The more Americanized rolls with the alternative (non-nori) wraps were not as delicious, in our opinion. We couldn't figure out what it was, whether it was the wraps or an ingredient in the chopped sushi roll fillings. But there's a ton on this menu that was good. Will eat here again. Oh and a short note on large groups- maybe this is not the spot to go with a massive group? It's more of an intimate dining experience, although they do seem to allow big groups. I only mention this because I saw a negative review about slow service for large groups before we went and then the evening we went a group of maybe 10-12 college students impatiently waited by the door to be seated, even though the servers were polite and had to wait for multiple tables to clear at the same time to push together seat such a large group in a smallish restaurant- the patrons kept coming in and trying to sit at random tables before it was their turn. If you have a massive group I'd say split into multiple tables or maybe choose a different, larger or chain restaurant, like El Vaquero or Buffalo Wild Wings? Anyway I hope they left a good tip because the workers were very professional and the group was very large and very impatient.
