First, this is a take-out review. I can't comment if things are different in the restaurant itself. Second, we generally love the BBQ from Dickey's. So why only three stars? I like pickles, onions, and sauce with my order. I don't like feeling nickled-and-dimed. The TINY little sauce cup plus three pickle slices and a few sad onions were not enough to work with the standard food servicing on their three-meat plate. They way $0.50 each for additional TINY portions of each condiment. This just puts me off. My suggestion? Serve no pickles and onions or sauce on the basic plate. Charge $2 for a condiment platter and GIVE ME enough!! Tip: pulled pork is the best thing on the menu. read more

I wish no Ill will to any restaurant trying to stay afloat in this economy. However, based on the flavor of the food, I have no idea how Dickey's is still open. The chopped brisket sandwich had chunks of chewy fat, not the delicious melt in your mouth fattiness of well smoked brisket. The meat itself was lackluster and flavorless. The bbq beans were an odd combination. The sauce they were in had flavor. It wasn't that good of a flavor but still some flavor but the al dente beans themselves were so devoid of flavor they tasted of water. Also, if you make the effort to show up in person and dine in they pull the old bait and switch. Online the Saturday special comes with 2 sides. If you order and eat in they say it comes with 1 side and up charge you $3 if you still want the second side. read more

The hours are posted as open but when we try to go it is closed. Several attempts and closed with no warning during supposed business hours. We are only trying it because my kid wanted to try bbq and we found a gift card to purchase from Sam's. Finally after checking for days we see the online ordering is working and we order and pay for a big meal, paying more than the gift card, and when we go to pick it up the doors are locked with the open sign on. Stopped by after my daughters taekwondo tournament. My 5 year old daughter is extremely picky. She ate all of her macaroni & and cheese and then asked for another one. Prices were not bad. First time at Dickey's (dined in). Very selective menu (sandwiches, platters, sides). Ordered brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. I give the quality, quantity and sauce (original) five stars. Employees were very responsive and came by to make sure everything was ok. The only reason for the four stars is that people were coming in without masks on of which seemed not to be a concern even though more than one notice is fully visible prior to entering stating masks are required. We just kept our 12ft distance from the 3 men whom were in front of us not wearing masks. Was going to take a picture and post, but decided if these construction men were to find out where i lived, i would become the pulled pork.... Will visit again without dining in (drive-thru). Stopped in to try for the first time fast friendly service. i decided to try the brisket sandwich meal with fries and grabbed a sweet tea. the brisket was very well seasoned and sauce was delicious. i also enjoyed the fires but the sweet tea is my go to pretty much everywhere and it happened to be good as well. I got the two meat platter plus other items to go. Overall I was pleased. The web site kind of pissed me off as it forced me to get an unwanted third size. After that service was good but had to remind them I had a slice of pie that was not bagged. Sides were good! Wife really liked the green beans. Fries made when I got there which was appreciated. Pie was good! Brisket and chopped brisket were good! The portions were good! The chicken - oh wow - was the driest piece of fowl that I ever had. Way over smoked.... The fowl was foul. Seriously, I went through two glasses of water getting through it. The rolls had an excellent favor but tasted like they were not cooked. Very hard. Will I go back? This is a pretty good place to eat. I got the two meat plate. I chose the ribs (you get two) and the brisket. It was awesome. You have three sauces to try: sweet original and spicy. I only ate the spicy but you can try get as much as you want. My meal came with two sides. I picked jalapeno baked beans. I think this is just their bbq baked beans with jalapenos put on top. I also got the cabbage slaw, not bad. My mom got the brisket and pulled pork with bbq beans and the potato casserole. Both plates had several pickles on them. Very good! If you order a drink you get a cup you get to keep. After you've finished with your meal they have ice cream cones. The people who worked were very friendly. I don't get to Liberty very often but I'll be back to this place. read more

Ordered for pick-up way early in the day for afternoon pick-up order. Wasn't ready til 20 minutes. Horrible customer service. No communications as to how late. Gave no apologies. Just very sloppily threw our foods together and toss it at customer. Definitely don't recommend this horrible establishment. It's not like the restaurant was busy. Great BBQ, portions on point, sides very good, try them green beans, you would think your grandma made them! Very clean. Customer service is great. When you pull into the parking lot you can smell the smoke, gets even better when you walk in the door. New owners are great people, always smiling and ready to help you. I went to Dickies at least twice a week if not more. They have really good burnt ends and chopped brisket. On my birthday I ordered the above which is my usual. What I got was a bunch of diced fat with the burnt ends. I called to the restaurant and spoke with the manager who knows me well. He apologized and said he would give me a pound when I came back in again. Five days later I went back to get with the manager had told me to make up for the bad meal and they wouldn't honor what he had told me. For a really good customer you think you just eat the $20 and make up for the bad birthday meal and keep the customer. But for 20 bucks they lost a regular customer. They never made it right and they just yelled and screamed at me. This is certainly not the right foot to start a business on.The product is good but they don't know what they're doing business wise. My mother owns four restaurants and you do whatever you need to do to keep the customer happy. I'll never go back again and will go to the Smoke House to spend a $120 a month for BBQ. Sixty percent if new businesses go under & treating customers terrible is not the way to make a profit. read more

Great food! Huge baked potatoes!! I just love this place! I especially love that I can pick up their great food through their drive-thru! How many barbeque places have a drive-thru? They even sell drinks by the gallon so you can take home an easy to carry container instead of having to buy individual drinks for everybody. This place is great. I highly recommend!!! And, I have to say, I think their onion rings are the best I have ever had in my entire life! And that's saying something! read more

Dickey's definitely has the best bbq in liberty. I eat there at least a couple of times a month because the crew is great, it's always super clean, and the food is awesome. I usually go for the chopped brisket or the ribs. Those are the best items on the menu in my opinion. Sometimes I'll mix it up with some spicy sausage. We have been there 2 times before and thought it was not up to par with the other Dickey's and were disappointed to the max but since this location is closer to us we thought we would try it again at the drive thru. When we brought it home and started to eat our Brisket sandwiches, we found the meat was tough with a lot of gristle and fat just like the other two times. We threw most of the meat out and were still hungry when we were finished. I can see why the place was completely empty at noon on a Saturday. Never again will we try this location. They need a new manager and a new cook. I cannot believe this place is still opened. Smelled great coming in, was greeted as I approached the counter, staff was friendly, food was great, was clean (including a clean bathroom!), everything was neat and tidy at the drink station and BBQ station, had a staff member come to our table after about 30 minutes to check on us and even took our tray to the trash for us, overall a great experience! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Dickey's has great food, but this particular franchise is the most disorganized fast food place I've ever seen. I ordered to go and waited over 40 minutes for my food. When I did finally get the good, the order was wrong & the workers were rude and combative when I politely tried to correct it. I'm pretty easy going (this is actually the first negative review I've ever left on here), but this is just unacceptable. For the record, I went at 4:00 PM on a Sunday. Not exactly a crazy time. An absolute waste of money I went about a month or so after they opened here in Liberty. Was very excited about getting to try out a new BBQ place, since Kansas City is the BBQ capital of the world, you would expect a BBQ joint to be on its game. Terrible idea The ribs were dry and bland. The "honey ham" tasted like it was rolled in splenda. The sweet tea was the color of brown cool-aid. I could have used the burnt ends as reloads for my rifle rounds, and the brisket as a sanding block for drywall. Seriously, they need to step their game up or they'll be going under. This would be our first visit to the BBQ chain. We studied the menu online and then went and ordered our food to go. Kids were a little disappointed that the tacos on the online menu weren't available. We ordered three stuffed potatoes with different toppings. My potato was brisket and cheddar cheese. It turned out to be the fattiest brisket ever and of course was mixed with potato and cheese. It was disgusting and very messy since I had to go through carefully to separate all the fatty meat. So gross! Nothing like taking a bite of potato cheesy goodness and finding a chunk of fat!!! Others said their potatoes were "just okay." Potatoes needed to be cooked longer, pretty firm. The hubby and i are BBQ fanatics, thought we'd give the place a try... We both ordered The Westerner a 2 meat sandwich with cheese, onions & pickles on a hoagie roll. We made it a plate which included 2 sides. We both got beans & coleslaw. The beans tasted burnt, like they'd been in a crock pot 2 days too long... Coleslaw was OK, kind of... The meat didn't have a smoke taste at all and it was greasy as hell. And $27 for 2 sandwiches with 2 nasty sides is not worth it at all... We haven't left yet & my husbands tummy is already rumbling.
