Beer is cold.. Ordered the brisket Mac and cheese.. Brisket is great... Mac and cheese? Meh tastes like a box mix... Plateing.... Mac and cheese on a bakers sheet with brisket on top.. Ribs.. 4 out of 10.. I know they can't be smoked that long. Maybe boiled or steamed then a short smokeing process Ocra that was amazing.. Definitely fresh okra.. Yum.. Sandwichs are huge.. And 7.5 out of 10 Tacos... Are OK ish.... I'd definitely say this place is worth a visit. Just don't have huge expectations on higher quality BBQ joints. I'll be back for sure.. Also the price..not bad.. It costs to to run a franchise.. They need to maybe change a few cooking and serving methods and it will be better read more

My husband and I were very excited for dickeys to cater our small wedding. We thought we had made the perfect choice prior to the wedding due to dickeys being super helpful and very attentive ... and we loved the food. Fast forward to two weeks before the wedding, we made our deposit and provided a timeline for the catering. The catering manager reached out to to confirm the details and informed me that, while she was not trying to be rude, the women working the event will deserve and expect a tip. Not a huge ask, we had obviously planned to tip. She went on to inform me that the caterers do NOT get paid by dickeys and solely rely on tips from the wedding. I was so taken aback. If we had known this prior to placing our deposit, we would have NEVER booked dickeys. There is no excuse for not paying your employees and then telling us we're responsible for their wages. To top it all off, the catering arrived on time to the wedding but they had forgot one of our main dishes. Our guests had to sit around for 25 minutes waiting on food. By the time we ate the main dish that did arrive on time was cold. I would NOT recommend dickeys catering. read more

If I could give them a negative 5 I would. Worst BBQ I've ever had in my entire life. I've never wrote a review but this was so awful I had to. Brisket was tougher than a burnt flank steak, chopped brisket wasn't even good enough to be in a Taco Bell $1 special. We ordered their food with very high hopes. read more

I was excited to see Dickey's opened a new location in Newark, and disappointed that we discovered it right after eating lunch. :( We came back for dinner though as Dickey's is one of my favorite bbq places. It's a little different than any other Dickey's I've been in. They have a full bar and table service (which is confusing as they also appear to have a line for dine in - maybe they intend to do both?). The food was good as it always is(in fact is was great), but we waited a good 10-15 minutes to get drinks and a full 50 minutes before we got any food. Makes me wish they had made this a "normal" Dickey's. It shouldn't take that long to slice some meat and serve some sides (something they do at every other Dickey's while you wait). They're newly opened, so maybe there's a learning curve, but we never would have stopped if we had known how long we'd be there. I'll give them one more chance, and I hope they succeed, but they won't if they don't get their service figured out. read more

All over bad experience and we have been here multiple times and kind of experienced the same thing every time and you don't get the same consistency of meal every time. We waited for almost a 1 hour and 20 min just to get our food for 4. Two kids meals and two adult meals. Very very disappointing and won't be coming back for awhile. read more

We were in Dickey's Barbecue Pit Newark today. We have eaten at Dickey's around the South. All were excellent and we awere excited to try this one.. We should have read the reviews on line first. We ordered sliders and two sides. After a long wait they came with about one tablespoon of meat on each. We were shocked that there was not meat and should have sent them back. When the waitress came back ( she was a sweetheart) we were telling her that the sliders were way skimpy and asked to explain to the manager. My husband was still hungry so he ordered a regular brisket sandwich. We were NOT trying to complain as to not have to pay. We just thought that they wanted customer satisfaction and feed back. Oh, so no!!!! The manager Josh came out to "explain the the sliders were 1.6 oz. and that is exactly what he weighed out, because he made them himself. He missed the whole point! To add to the mix a "customer who had been drinking no doubt heard that there were customers at the tables outside who were saying that the sliders were skimpy, so he comes out to sit at the next table to butt in to say loudly that " Josh I LOVE your sliders"! Needless to say the whole episode left us totally shocked! We have eaten in many countries all over the world and have NEVER experienced such a total lack of respect for the patron. We were scolded for trying to explain our perspective. The manager showed his complete ignorance in dealing with inevitable complaints. We paid our bill of 28.00, and walked away as the smirking drunk customer and the manager Josh were still saying scolding words as we walked to our car. What a horrible and unnecessary experience! Love Dickey's and this location didn't disappoint, sides were great, pulled Pork and brisket were great and was nice to go to one and have a cocktail or beer. TVs are everywhere and was able to watch games as well! Will definitely be back!!! read more

This is my favorite finger licking rib joint. The food was great, the staff was welcoming and polite. The owner Josh even came over and introduced himself to make sure we were enjoying ourself. I was impressed with the service and plan to bring the family back. Love how they had cold beer too and still a nice family environment. This is the better of the Dickey's I have been to in the country. read more

BBQ Nirvana. Dickey's just opened in Newark and I have had 3 excellent bbq meals. The chopped brisket is easily on par with the best in Texas. Perhaps the hidden gem is the fantastic chicken breast. It is juicy and tender and full of flavor. In short, if you love bbq, go to Dickey's in Newark. You will not be disappointed. read more

Was excited to try the new bbq place since I haven't had Dickey's since living in Virginia a few years ago. Walking in you aren't sure to order your own food or be seated. A waitress car to use and asked how many and then seated us. She said she would be back to get our drinks, 10 minutes later she returned to get our drink order and then another 15 minutes to get them. We ordered and it took us 45 minutes to receive our food. Our Mac n cheese sides looked like they had been sitting under a warmer for awhile. Otherwise the food tasted fine, our waitress brought our check almost immediately after we got our food and then never came back until we had been finished with our food for a good 15 minutes. Would not recommend the table service by any means and also would not recommend their sweet tea read more

If i could give this a 0 star rating I would. first when I entered no one came to sit me down for 10 minutes said waited to be seated so I sat my self down. then when the lady came she was rude like how dare I. then when I got the food the pork is so awful and dry, and even when I put sauce on it I couldn't eat it sauce was terrible my mouth was so dry for the rest of the day even even the fries came out cold. read more

The first time my husband & I ate here, we were happy. The second occasion was okay and we had an upcoming event that we wanted to have catered. We had a coupon, so we decided to order food from Dickey's. Though there was a slot for a coupon on the website, the discount wasn't taken off. We took the coupon with us when we picked up our order the following day. The associate (I believe Donna) noted the coupon on the receipt. When we got home and unpacked our order, we found that our potato salad was missing. We called, but no answer. Our guests arrived. While we have guests, my husband calls again. And again. He finally gets an answer. My husband was exceptionally nice about the snafu and gave the manager his credit card information. He said he felt like the manager was accusing him of lying about the potato salad. This was a Saturday. By Wednesday, neither the refund for the coupon, nor the refund for the potato salad appeared. I called Donna at 11:00, gave her my husband's name and credit card info and was assured of a refund and she took my address so coupons could be mailed. A week later, no refund and no coupons. I live 15 miles from the location, but I went in personally. I tried their door at 10:56. The door was locked and no hours were posted. I waited a few minutes. At 11:03, I tried the door and it was still locked. According to a google search, they open at 11:00. Nevertheless, I wasn't going to wait. I ran errands and came back at 12:30. I spoke directly to Donna. She remembered my call and said it probably didn't go through because she didn't have the actual card. I assumed she'd zing the card through the register. She took me back to an office where she manually typed in the information. So if the number was wrong, it was because she wrote it down incorrectly. She also mentioned not having the expiration date, which I gave her when I had called previous. And my husband gave when he called. And had been noted on the receipt when we picked up the order and need a coupon adjustment. Then she told me that she wasn't able to fix it because she hadn't taken down my phone number. So she didn't try, because I told her we had a catering order, told her my husband's name. He has an account through the app. At the very least, she could have dropped a note. The coupons were never mailed, so they didn't try. I stood at her shoulder while she entered the credit card number. I saw the screen that said the refund went through. No receipt for the $59 refund. She handed me some coupons. It was all I could do to not throw them in her face. I returned to my car, continued running errands. I gave them to the first stranger I met and shared my story. It took two days for the refund to show up on my card, but at least I never have to set foot in their store again. read more

When we arrived, a waitress said that we could sit down and place our order or go to the counter and order. We chose the counter. The man chopping meat said he be with us in a minute. I waited 5-6 mins while he made 3 orders. I felt ignored. I went down and asked the cashier if we could place our order with her. She said yes. She placed our order and handed me a receipt that read that the order was "to go". I told her that it was for here. She said well you should have sat down then. I explained to her what I was told when we came in. She told the men preparing the order that it was "for here". I waited 15 mins. She then hands me two bags of food to go. The employees all seemed disorganized and the amount of time we had to wait seemed extraordinary. I went and sat down to eat the food IN like we had wanted. I noticed 2 other patrons by us that sat down and ordered and didn't get their food for about 20mins. They did not seem extra busy. A manager saw our 2 bags of "to go" trash after we had eaten and asked about it. I explained the whole ordeal and what all we were told by the employees. He did apologize and offered us the free soft serve ice cream for dessert. I hope they get this all figured out and our next visit goes smoother and faster. The food was good and the price seemed better than their local competitors. We will try again. read more
