I've tolerated ordering from Dickeys because the food is generally good but too many times there is too much drama over getting a simple pork rib plate. They will be out of ribs 3 hours before closing time and once I didn't find out until I got to the restaurant to pick up my paid-for order and had to settle for some chopped up pork instead. I wasn't even offered a refund. There never seems to be anyone in charge. The management is consistently below average. Went with my son yesterday. First off, staff is incredible. Starting off with a big hello and then walking me through the menu. Food was very tasty. As much as I love their meat, my absolute favorites were the baked beans and the macaroni and cheese. I guess I'm still a kid at heart. Place is very clean and the atmosphere is very friendly. The restaurant is ran by an amazing father son duo who truly take customer service and put that at the top of their priority list. Granted I ordered the food via DoorDash, and Dickey's is about 3 miles from where I lived, so it shouldn't have been rock cold. We've been to a few Dickey's and were excited to try this location when we came across it on vacation. We placed a to-go order to take back to the resort but we were so disappointed upon opening the containers. We ordered the brisket and pulled pork for 4 adults. The sides were mediocre but the meat itself did not look appetizing- it lacked flavor, felt rubbery, and the amount of fat was overwhelming. I thought it was just my plate but everyone had the same complaint. We eat bbq and make our own tritip and brisket frequently, so I know exactly what texture and flavor to expect and this quality was subpar. The kids, who were so hungry, didn't even eat the Macncheese (This was the first time my kids turn down Macncheese)! The cheese sauce was watery and the pasta was so over-cooked that it dissolved in your mouth. I couldn't even eat it and I tend to eat all their leftovers. For paying $60 and not even eating half of our meal, it felt like a total waste of money. Always on point and amazing service from this Dickeys. Food is fresh, hot, and exactly what you'd expect from a Dickey's BBQ. The restaurant even had it's classic country tunes playing throughout and really brings together the core of the classic Texas BBQ joint you know and love. Do not go to other Dickey's in the Coachella Valley. Dickey's is the best barbecue anywhere, and I've had the best in the country. Take it from this Southern Boy, hands down best barbecue sauces (3 kinds!!!) you can come by west of the Mississippi. And the fried okra?!?!?!? There's nowhere else in the Coachella valley I can find excellent, hot, flavorful fried okra cooked just the way my Mom and Grandmas made. The amount of unprofessional behavior that was displayed today with the restaurant crew is what makes me not want to return back as a customer. I know just 1 customer like myself won't make a difference is a corporate chain but I don't wish the treatment I experienced on any other customer, as someone that works in food/customer service I'm very disappointed. I made a DoorDash order around 3:58pm on April 12th 2021. My driver got to the location and then next thing I know my order is canceled and I got a email from DoorDash stating my order has been canceled. So then I called a friend of mine that was already out with her kids and asked her if I made an online order through dickeys website for CURBSIDE if she would pick it up for me and deliver it (I do not have a car) She said yes so at 4:54pm I place an ONLINE CURBSIDE order for curbside pickup at 5:15pm I even imputed her cars information for the curbside service My friend called to inform me when she arrived at restaurant and called to have order taken out that the order was not in their system and they have no idea. She then went inside to show them the receipt/order confirmation of my personal online order (NOT DOORDASH) And was not welcomed with kindness. She was informed that the DoorDash driver did indeed come and get my order She kept informing the team members that she is NOT picking up the DoorDash order but an entirely DIFFERENT order. The team members called the manager And was on the phone with the manager for quit sometime. Finally after almost 10-15 min of arguing back and forth the team members informed my friend that they would remake the order. Through all this I was using the "track my order" screen from my phone at home and it stayed at the "packing the goods" part even now as I type this at 6:31pm it is still stuck at this. Thankfully I got my food but to say it was good is an understatement, the meat was cold, Mac n cheese luke warm. Potato not cooked fully. I understand with the pandemic and conditions we all have to work in, is very stressful but this whole thing couldof been handled with more professional. I am more than willing to come down to the restaurant and speak with the manager about this and show all the proof, and even bring my friend that picked up my order and was treated so poorly. read more
