The day we went Dickeys was not on par. They only had brisket or pulled pork available. All other meats were gone. It was about 6:00pm on Friday. My daughter got kids nuggets, which were over cooked. The brisket I got tasted good. Not great. Probably won't be returning anytime soon. read more

We arrived around 6pm on a Saturday night. We stood at the counter waiting for someone to greet us and take our order. There were 2 employees behind the counter. We stood at the counter for a full ten minutes and not once did either employee look up to say, "Hi, we'll be right with you," or "Hi, we are preparing a big order and it's going to be a very long wait" or, "Hi, we have no food left except for..." Even my 4 year old started to say out loud, "This is a very long wait." We finally just walked out and still nothing was said as we left. Another patron also left right after us and was also unserved. He said, "Don't feel bad, they were out of a lot of food." If that was the case, the employees should have at least said that instead of just ignoring us. The slogan on the wall said, "Cooked slow, Served fast." I couldn't disagree more. It should have read, "Cooked slow. No service." We left and spent our money at Chick-Fil-A and had our food brought to our table in under 4 minutes and 2 employees checked on us during that time. My lunch was absolutely smacking. I received a deluxe barbecue box and I cannot tell you how amazing it was. I valued the tenderness and slightly charred flavor of the chicken and the delicious sauce that came with. The caesar salad was the perfect ratio of all components and the perfect side to the sandwich. The lays chips are always a hit and the chocolate chip cookie really brought everything together. 10/10 recommend. read more

There aren't too many options in this area on a late Sunday afternoon. I was not familiar with this chain but turns out there are several in SoCal. They get 5 stars because the crew went above and beyond to accommodate us. Since there was a group of us, they recommended we get the Family Pack which turned out to be a good idea. The mac n cheese, potato casserole, coleslaw, and fried okra were all good. The rolls were nice and soft. Free soft serve ice cream with cone was the icing on the cake. The reusable cups are a nice touch if you like souvenirs. Both sweetened and non-sweetened sweet tea is available. Their chocolate chip cookie bars are pretty good and make for a nice snack on the drive home read more

It was my first time back to Dickey's in awhile. They were out of my first two choices of meat. I ordered double of the ribs and got the four pieces off the end. They all were 3-4 inches long. So they gave me the smallest of the rack. They were out of a few sides as well. I asked for very little ice in my drink. The cup was half full of ice and only filled with soda 3/4. The ice cream machine is sit off for Covid. That's a joke. Other places have their self serve ice cream machine open. I'm done with this place. Save your money. read more

Second time going to Dickeys..don't think I will go back for a while. We ordered the rib plate..the star of the show, the ribs, were flavorless which I could change with salt and pepper and bbq sauce...what was disappointing was they were COLD! We have visited other Dickey's locations and were pleased. That was not the case with this one. The two gentlemen working seemed uninterested when we entered and only greeted when we walked right in front of them. We were able to eat in the dining room, but when our plates were handed to us, the sides and bottoms were covered in grease and chunks of food. We had to grab paper towels to try to keep the mess off our clothing and table. The food was just mediocre. The pulled pork was very fatty and the sausage - special of the day - was dry. I went to drive up window placed order for 1/2 Lb of pulled pork, 1/2 Lb chicken. Dis not get chicken, called and Cody was great and said they would refund my card. We just had the worst experience at Dickey's. There were 4 people behind the counter and they told us to wait a minute. They had a big order, but 10 minutes was an excessive time to wait. We would have left but we had walked from our Hotel and there was no other place near. So we ordered the special and they over charged us - price was corrected when we pointed out their error. No ice in the drinks machine so we had to ask for ice. Green beans were so old they were slimy. Coleslaw was good. Biscuit was so hard I couldn't even cut it with a knife. They were out of brisket so we had pulled pork which tasted ok but cold. We have eaten at Dickey's before and we were looking forward to decent food. Alas, a huge disappointment. In town for the weekend and this place delivers to our hotel so we called in an order. It was a 40 minute wait but we had just been in the car for 5 hours so we didn't want to get back in. The food arrived shortly late but that was fine. What wasn't fine is that there was no utensils or napkins which we obviously don't have in a hotel room. Our food was cold and there was no butter for the rolls, ketchup for the fries and no bbq sauce for the dry tasteless meat. The rib meat was super tough and hardly any on the bone. The first time I ate at Dickies was at their grand opening of the restaurant near Bloomington Walmart. The food was smokin' (literally) and I thought "ah-ha! finally found a good barbecue restaurant in Southern Utah." However as I made return trips I felt the food was not quite the same. More disappointing was that it seemed the service was not as enthusiastic as I would have hoped. Over the next couple of visits my Dickies BbQ mellow was harshed . We used a delivery service to get their food, the brisket & the pulled pork was delicious, the macaroni and cheese was ok, the cream spinach should've been called spinach soup it was watery, The green beans with bacon & onions was also very watery, way too much juice. This family run business has become home to me! 6 months ago I was freshly new to truck driving and parked for the night in St George. When Dickey's BBQ came into my sight, with mouth watering and tummy excited I walked in and ordered, to only become disappointed my card wasn't working. I apologize and left. As I exited I was frustrated and sad, I had driven for 10 hours and exhausted. Suddenly I heard a voice behind my "No sir, you come back and eat"! I told the young lady, who I would find out later was Ms Alysha the owner, it's okay I'll come back next time" In a strict loving mamma voice with fingers snapping "I said get you butt back in there and fill your belly, your not going away hungry"! As I returned Excitedly "Brad, her husband, had my food at the table with silverware set and cup in hand asking what I wanted to drink. For just a moment I flashed back to a starving teenager coming in for chow and my dad standing there with my place set and asking "Whatcha gonna guzzle son"? Brad sat with me and talked for 30 min or more! My DC is in St George, I eat there every week, It just makes this hungry trucker feel rejuvenated, just like as if I was home! No matter who's working the food is great and the smiles are just what my soul needs! read more

Today, I should like to introduce a term to you and that PAQ. PAQ stands for Perfectly Acceptable Q and that is normally reserved for BBQ that is neither outstanding nor insufferable but delivers a standard, consistently "ok" experience, which is what this place does. Regular readers will know I'm somewhat a fan of this chain and try to get to various locations to compare and contrast. This one, alas, is not one of the better ones and I suppose it is because it's a bit slower and there's not enough food rotation. To their credit, the pulled pork is done well, but with the ribs, despite the signage stating otherwise, these were marked by a distinct lack of smoke. The ribs were acceptable, but not much more than that. The cheddar sausage was not served hot enough, so all the cheese pockets inside were congealed. In a way, this is good, as it served to remind me to never order that particular menu item at this chain again, since I've yet to find a store capable of doing it well. Aside from that, Coke Zero fountain mix was ok, jalapeno beans were as good as usual and the okra was made to order fresh. I think this one will really start hitting on all cylinders in the next 6 - 12 months with a bit more business and if they keep their solid staff, will be real contenders in the area. read more

I had the best beef BBQ sandwich with a side of fried okra. My boyfriend had pulled pork and sliced sausage with potato salad and coleslaw. My okra was a little too salty, but still great since that is something hard to find as a side dish in the West. The atmosphere was fun. The people were nice and wanted to know how everything was. I own a pellet grill and have been doing bbq for many years. I have my own bean and sauce recipe so I do know bbq. Michael the person serving me was an amazing customer service representative. For a fast food type of barbecue place he went above and beyond to make sure that I got the best meal possible. This kid right here deserve a promotion or a paycheck increase their boss man because he is doing things for your business that you would want every employee to do and be. Now on to the food itself. For the price I paid I would say it's a pretty darn good start. I rated this 4 stars and I could have rated it better except for the bathroom. Guys it is kind of a big deal the condition your bathrooms exist. No one wants to walk in and see several dead cockroaches on the ground even if they are only small cockroaches. Kind of a big deal. If you are driving through St. George, let me give you a "kindly tip". The best BBQ joint in town is right next to the cheapest gas in town. They virtually share a parking lot. I had "Gas-buddied" the USA gas station and found it had the cheapest fuel for the big red road rocket when we were on a road trip to dispose of sweet thang's mom's cadaver, (a whole story on its own). Whodda' thunk that an outstanding, legit BBQ house was housed in what looked like a fast food kiosk? Sweet Thang & I went inside, (though they do have drive-through). It's priced a little more than a burger joint, but the food is the bomb. Here's Panochey's inside hint: Do not miss their beans. I could chow them there frijoles on a daily basis! Yes, it's a drive-through and it's got the fast food vibe, but the BBQ at Dickey's is legit! I was literally licking my fingers after my dinner at Dickey's. The brisket is dry but so tender and not over-smoked in the least. The pulled pork is perfect, moist with a few crunchy bits. Their BBQ sauce, which they give you PLENTY of, is an immaculate balance of savory and sweet with a satisfying vinegar pang. The rolls are buttery but not flaky, perfect for sopping up sauce or making a slider. The jalapeno beans bring the heat while the potato casserole is just sinful. I'm still in disbelief that the BBQ is so good here. If this is what a drive-through in Utah can create I wonder what I am missing in Texas??!! I'm used to paying sky high prices for mediocre BBQ places out here in OC, damn I wish we had Dickey's here. read more

The service here was outstanding! We were helped by a guy names Mike and he was awesome. Very helpful and nice! Mike let me try the chicken since he said that was the best. It was good but I don't go to BBQ places to get chicken or turkey. I ended up getting a pulled pork sandwich. Good texture and appearance. This is a great place to stop on your way up to Brian Head ski area. It is excellent BBQ. The meat on the pork ribs just about falls off the bone. The brisket, the rolls, the scalloped potatoes, the mac 'n cheese, and free ice cream - all good! It would be nice if there was at least something green and healthy on the menu. Maybe the cole slaw could be made with less mayonnaise. We also got a tour from Mike. We were among the last customers so the timing was just right. Just wanted to send a shout out to the wonderful folks at Dickey's in St. George. We held my mom's 80th birthday party for 70 people at a St. George venue and had Dickey's cater the whole affair. We had to make arrangements from a thousand miles away and found their whole staff to be very efficient, friendly and helpful in getting that part done. On the day of the event, the staff arrived precisely on time with all of the wonderful food we ordered prepared and displayed to perfection.
