My 1966 Mustang had a fuel leak and needed to be towed in to the shop. I was able to call ahead to Dick's, make an appointment for the time I preferred and request a flat bed for my girl so she was comfy. The dispatch called me ahead of time to let me know the driver was on his way, which was very helpful since I'm still working from home during Covid. The driver showed up on time (between a one hour window), wore a mask, kept social distance and was otherwise very professional. I got a flat tire on the highway in Cupertino late at night, and everywhere I called was not available to either tow or change my donut tire. AAA quoted me 3 hours. I was panicking since it was late and I was still 1 hour away from home, but I finally found Dick's, who quoted me 30-45 minutes, but got there in less than 20 minutes. They charged $85 for the tire change, but left off the extra late-night fee and credit card fee. The guy was super nice and friendly -- I'm sad I didn't get his name! He made me feel so much more at ease when I was not sure how I could get back to SF. Even though the Internet's advice was to not drive all the way home on my donut tire, he gave me advice and assured me it would be fine, and it was. Even though $85 may seem like a lot if you know how to change your own tires, I'm still glad I got the advice and didn't spend more money on a hotel, towing, etc., plus I got out of there safely in the middle of the night. I called in as my Tesla MS P100D 12v battery was dead. User error totally, since drove in with too low battery after long work day. I called in Dicks and they were the fastest one to be at my place in 30 mins on Saturday! That already was amazing, since at Sunnyvale SC they said they could replace the battery in few hours if towed in. Yet Michael V did great job and got the battery working with a jump start after almost giving up getting it to tow mode... and then it allowed me to plug in the remote charger from our home and charge a little so could roll down hill to closest supercharger. I called AAA to have a tow. An older gentleman, grey hair and a NAVY hat arrived in a large flat bed tow truck, to bring my Chevy Silverado to the dealership. From the moment he exited his cab, he was grumpy, angry and just rude. I was sitting on my porch letting my dog pee, and he was making weird gestures at me though is cab window. The reflection made it so I couldn't see him. He then took off his mask and thrust it at me. I quickly grabbed my mask and walked over. He just talked over me, talked down to me and was just not in a good state of mind. I explained to him that I couldn't see him through the cab if his rig, and he continued to talk in a way that was just not becoming of a representative of Dicks. His behavior and demeanor made me ask him to leave, I said I would call AAA and send another driver, as he was making me uncomfortable. He brushed by me in a huff, inches from me and stormed off in his rig, about 6 inches from me. During COVID, this is a clear county of Santa Clara violation. If I would not have moved, he would have hit me with his mirrors. I may consider a complaint with the county health department. I called AAA back, and waited. Apparently he "lied" to AAA and said my trucks wheels were "Turned to the side" and could not be towed. So this lie caused AAA to not get another rig out to tow my truck. And hours and hours of waiting. I had to call Campbell Towing, which was AWESOME, and they got my truck with a smaller flat bed, no problem. I have him a generous tip. I had to pay this out of pocket and send in a reimbursement request, all because of this lazy worker. The driver for Dicks was awful, and should consider another line of work. My brother was a tow truck driver for over 40 years so I think I'm a pretty good judge of tow companies. And I love this company. I was gonna say, "I love Dicks" but that might be TMI. Anyway ... the other morning my car wouldn't start. Nothing. Not even the "errr errr errr" sound a car makes when the battery is dead. I called Dicks and within less than an hour, Jason was there to save the day. And he hardly flipped out at all when he opened the hood to find a baby possum sitting on my engine. After the possum removal (which I didn't get charged for, yay!), Jason discovered that the connection things on my battery had gotten knocked loose. Maybe by a possum? He tightened them back up and voila! Power! I would definitely recommend Dicks if you ever need a possum removed from your car. Or any other car related issues. read more

He removed the bad tire but because of a quirk with my very old truck could not remove the spare. We own a Tesla Model 3 that was dead--couldn't open and no juice. Mario Aguayo our tower (also the Supervisor) phoned us and triaged the problem (ticking sound from fronk and a rotten egg smell (sulfur seeping from dying 12v battery). He not only diagnosed it over the phone and confirmed in person, he went out of his way to phone Tesla, get approval to buy a 12v battery, and install. We could have been carless for the week towing to service center and Mario did Tesla roadside assistance 2 for 1 avoiding tow. Honestly, I'm pretty sure there is NEVER a situation in which you are happy to call a towing company. So for me to give 5 stars really means something! Armando (that's my car's name) wouldn't start in the morning. I tried to jumping him... nada. Alas, I needed to call a tow company as he was parked in a drive way and blocking another car in the garage. I called another tow company who said it would take 2 hours and $138 to tow him less than a mile to the shop. A gave Dick's Automotive a call and there time and price was way more reasonable (came within 30 min and my final price was only $95!) On top of that, my driver was AWESOME! He first tried to jump my car again and gave it his best diagnosis (not the battery, but something to do with my gas tanks). Gave me some good car advice, life advice, and kept me laughing throughout the whole ordeal. I wish I remembered his name but THANK YOU! On a side note - looks like they are contractors for AAA so I am pretty inspired to sign up now. HUGE Thank to John with Dick's Community Towing. Really eased my anxiety when my car broke down on Hwy 17. My car lost all power while driving on a busy highway 17. I managed to pull over to the side, but it was so busy with cars flying by. I called for a tow from road side assistance and they estimated tow will be there in 75 mins. Then the tow truck they send couldn't move my car because it won't shift into N no matter what the tow service tried. So road assistance had to call another truck. Long story short, 90 minutes later, because the other company's equipment failed and couldn't locate the right equipment, Dick's Community Towing was send to the rescue. By then, I had a ride home because there was really no reason for me to stay by my car on a dangerous busy highway. What I REALLY appreciate was John called me when he was in route to my location. He wanted to assure me that he is coming and when to expect him. I'm glad he did that because he didn't realize I was not with my car. Once we exchanged that little detail, he assured me he is approaching the destination. and have me remain on the phone until he has visual confirmation. Once he saw my car, he assured me that he will take care of it and for me not to worry. Then about 45 minutes later, he texted me with a photo of my car promptly dropped off at the service station. The anxiety of having my car break down was really tough. To have John understand that and did what he did to assure me help ease some of that anxiety. While he's a quiet guy, his breadth of experience speaks for itself , no words needed. He's been able to handle some dicey tows for me without a single hitch. Maybe in his world, it's just another day at work, but for the uninitiated, guys like Rodney are a god send. Throughout the years of being saved by Dick's, I've had the pleasure of getting to know a lot of the administrative and office staff, and every single one of them are an absolute delight to work with.
