    Lechon & pancit
    Kathy A.

Out getting my Covid and Flu shots at Safeway Pharmacy I had time to kill. Didn't want Chili's or McD so decided to try Dick's Lechon which is one of the food trucks lining the far since of the parking lot past Petco. I'm a fan of Lechon, pancit and all the dishes making up Filipino Cuisine (won't eat balut though) so this place has been on my radar for some time. Actually got here about 1:15 after the lunch crowd so timing was perfect. After perusing the menu I decided to have the Lechon and Pancit plate. As I waited I looked around for someplace to eat. Unfortunately are no tables or chairs so you either eat in your car or find somewhere out of that area to eat your lunch. Not a fan of either of those options but since I didn't realize this before I ordered I just ate in my car. The Lechon is very lean, nice crispy skin and a subtle smoky flavor. I liked it although I do prefer a more fatty Lechon. The pancit was the Shanghai version with the skinny noodles and slivers of carrot, celery and cabbage, my favorite! Would I return....yes but not with an appointment afterwards as I would just take my food choice home.

Our go to place for lechon. Dick Lechon truck in Waipahu is the best in my opinion. Crispy roasted pork with cracklin skin, pancit, fried rice and that famous sauce with a hint of vinegar to cleanse the palette. Service is always quick and you can't beat the outside ambiance on a beautiful sunny day in April.

Always - when ever I have a craving for Lechon and Pancit, I visit Dick's Lechon! Its the perfect savory dish, and the lechon is really yummy with its crispy/juicyness.

Wonderful Service! We decided to get the Whole Lechon Belly for New Year's Eve which it also comes with 1 med pan of Pancit or Fried Rice. They provide their phone number on their AD & Instagram which you could call or text and they have responded urgently back to me. They had lots of Rolled Pork Belly available and I didn't have to make a deposit. The pancit looked & tasted really good and the lechon was nice and crispy. I would say it was also a decent size. They were really flexible with the pick up time as my pick up was 4PM and I ended coming late due to traffic on the free way. I was still able to pick it up close to closing time. Lots of parking in the area and the pick up was at the truck in Waikele so it wasn't a problem at all. Very well done and a good deal for $178 for both Whole Lechon Belly and 1 med pan Pancit. Highly recommend if you have a last minute event. Definitely worth the holiday special!

Whenever I have a craving for lechon, I want to get it from here even though it's a bit of drive from town. Always fresh, crispy and very flavorful. Last plate I got had a generous amount of garlic cloves. Gotta eat em right away because it's not the same quality once you let it sit. It will get soggy if you wait too long. A bit pricey, but hey what isn't pricey these days, especially in Hawaii Local friendly service. Only reason I give 4 stars is because the pricing on the menu is confusing.

Lechon belly, 2 pork BBQ stick, pancit, and rice!

Lechon is bomb very crispy and meat is nice juicy and tender, skin super crunchy! Pancit was great a bit on salty side but still very tasty, pork BBQ sticks were not overly sweet, perfectly seasoned! Don't forget to ask for containers for dipping sauces! They have 4 different sauces! I love the soy sauce shoyu pairs so well with rice, BBQ sticks, and Lechon belly! Lots of parking! There sometimes is a line, it moves by fast and I didn't wait long for my order in the 2 times I've gone there! Located in a parking lot next to Petco and old navy outlet! Plate lunches at reasonable price! Pink truck you cannot miss it! Will definitely eat again when I'm around!! Highly recommend!!

10/10 would recommend!!! I saw this food truck on Instagram and was excited for a Filipino food truck! Great variety to choose from and good portions. Got there as soon as they opened and their food was hot and fresh!

Mmmm lechon special cravings hit the spot. Crunch and tasty. Didn't have pinakbet today but that's ok. Super quick service despite lunch hour. Thumbs up here.

Crispy lechon on top of fried rice? Very delicious. The lechon is crispy and there's actual meat, not just fat. Would order it again, had tiny bit of a line just as Sunday service just got done, got the food fresh though and didn't wait terribly long no more that +15 min

Ordered the lechon fried rice omelete. (Their spelling) Was only ok. Omelette was fine, but very plain. Lechon was ok, could have used a bit more salt. Only burnt parts were crunchy. Skin was not. Maybe if it wasn't under the egg it might have been crunchy, will never know. Fried rice was oily and needed salt. Portion was big. You tell them if you want a container for sauce. You need to know what they are because the bottles aren't labeled. Also, the bottles need to be wiped down - they're very sticky on the outside. Probably won't return to this lunch truck.

Came here on Sunday 8/24 and got my food 12:20pm. This was my first time eating here and last. It wasn't busy, just a few people in front of me. There were two guys that I could see working in the truck. The thinner guy took my order (2 choice Lechon with all rice x2 and pork lumpia). While waiting for my food, the bigger guy was VAPING inside of the food truck! Just gross and against health code. Got home and opened my plate, the pork was pink... I read other reviews as well saying they got pink pork. This was a huge disappointment.

Called bc i didn't get a receipt but she argued I did and got an attitude from the start.

I used to go here all the time to get my filipino food fix. Unfortunately they closed the Kalihi…read morerestaurant and now have to make the drive out to Waipahu. If you have never been here I highly recommend you trying their filipino food. Portion size is good and worth the money but the main reason you're buying their food is cause it's winnahs. I did take out a few of their menu items. Their special for July is lechon Kawali, pancit, pork gisantes and pork adobo fried rice. It's good to get this or mixed plate with 3 choices. It allows to try more of their menu selections. While one is good 3 or 4 is much better especially if coming here for the very first time. You won't be disappointed. I called in to place my order and it would be twenty minutes which is fine cause that's how long it took me to get there. The food was hot and ready to go. I made sure my ac was off so I can enjoy a nice hot lunch. The place was crowded even at 1pm. People know good food when they eat it. Lots of parking. The lechon Kawali was good. It's nice and meaty with some nice soft fat pieces. Oh so good. Yeah if you are worried about cholesterol then this might not be for you. If not you gonna enjoy it. The pancit is good. The pork gisantes which is more commonly known as pork and peas is really good. It's like stew and you wanna mix your rice with it. If you like eggs over easy then you should have that over your gisantes. It's sooooooo good. Kinda like Loco moco except it's stew. When that yolk breaks and blends in with the gisantes hoo boy. Just really good stuff there. Then the main attraction is their pork adobo fried rice omelet. I believe they were the original restaurant that brought it out. I might be wrong but they make it just right. Every bite is so good especially when you bite into one that has fat in it. Yummy. Yeah not a good choice if you're staying away from cholesterol but if not you're gonna enjoy it. The pork adobo fried rice is not dry like some other places I've tried. Ok I admit i love filipino food. I had to get dinuguan. Chocolate meat. Another winner with rice and really good with over eggs on top of it. Nice tender succulent pieces of pork. Oh my God, it's so good. I also got Shanghai lumpia. This is da bomb. You gotta eat this one hot and fresh. If not it gets stale and soggy so I ate this first. You dip it into vinegar. I like a little heat so I add Tabasco to it. Great with beer. It's so good. I'm missing it already. Then the final dish i got was their sari sari. It's soup with mixed veggies, baby shrimp and lechon. The soup is delicious and comforting. It's great on a cold night or maybe when you're feeling sick. Better than your chicken noodle soup for sure. It's also great remedy for that hangover you got last night. Lol All in all you just gotta try it. Let me know what you got and how good it tasted. Enjoy and thank me later.

The space is cozy and welcoming, with limited amount of seating but ok for holding intimate events. Service is always great, food always comes out fresh and hot, and they always get our orders right. My personal favorites would be: * Kare-Kare (Beef Peanut Stew), which reminds me of my mom's cooking; and * Calamansi fried chicken + noodles, the noodles are very nostalgic for me as it reminds me of my "merienda" (afternoon snack) when I was growing up (in the Philippines). They talked it up and hyped it up so my wife and I decided to try it out last October for our anniversary. We showed up and they were closed for an event. Since then we've tried to eat here multiple times with it being booked or not open. It's been elusive. Last weekend was the weekend we finally were able to eat here being in Waipahu and the wait finally ended! We ordered the chef's special, salted egg fried rice, ube churros, and banana lumpia sundae. The dishes were colorful and vibrant. Everything tasted good but we were looking for that twist that was hyped up to us and there was nothing unfamiliar to our taste buds. Though we left full and enjoyed our meal, the "new" flavors didn't stand out. Overall we were quite underwhelmed especially with all the hype that was given to us over their food. Maybe I ordered the wrong things? Not sure but we'll likely give this a second shot when we're in Waipahu again at the right time.

The service was sufficient (low contact - could be off-putting to some.) The food was cooked on the spot, at least, the fried part was. My thing is, I've had different preparations of both the lechon and sisig before. I have to say that the ones I got from home-cooked versions versus commercial versions are different (at least for me it has.) It seems as if the sisig and lechon were initially boiled to cook it thoroughly, then they fry it before they serve it to you to get that crispy feel from the skin. The thing is, the jello-like/slightly slimy texture of the fat leads one to believe that it was boiled first or at least not fried thoroughly. There's nothing wrong with boiling as long as the skin and fat come through as crispy. The skin was crispy, but the fat wasn't. Perhaps, they just need to fry it a little more. Other than that, if it was crispy throughout, I would've given it 5 stars. I'm looking forward to trying the other things on the menu like the beef pares.

Even before we could get to our chair, she shouts out about 5 dishes they were out of with her back turned to us. This lady was cold and absurdly rude. We left and ended up just getting dinner from Foodland. I would've loved to have spent my money on a Filipino owned restaurant but it seemed that lady didn't want the business and never cared to help anyone that came through her restaurant. Such a very disappointing experience. I rarely drop 1 star reviews but I walked away stunned at the lack of customer service this lady displayed. Do yourself a favor and go to Elena's. We were spoiled to the max! The owners and their family run the place and in true Filipino hospitality, they served us buffet/family style and entertained us with their stories from their humble beginnings to what they are today. The food was the best I've had in the Island. Hands down. Everything tasted nostalgic because the technique used in cooking each dish tasted like a handed down recipe from a grandma's kitchen from back home in the motherland. If you're ever in the island of Oahu please make your way to Waipahu and sample as much of their offerings as you can and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed! 10/10 recommended coming from a humble cook who rarely raves about Filipino food because I myself learned from my paternal grandmother.

They're located on the corner and once you see a tent & smell bbq, you're at the right spot. This restaurant gave karinderia vibe to it! Karinderia is basically like those food stalls they have in the Philippines, where they have a bunch of dishes and you sit out to enjoy the food. Home cooked & affordable eats. They have everything from bbq sticks, adobo, lechon, kilawan, lumpia and more. I got the bbq stick & chicken inasal plate. The bbq stick was packed with so much flavor! The chicken inasal was more on the huli huli side & was served with Filipino dipping sauce. They also offer free sabaw with your meal. Ordering was a little complicating, they have a menu outside with food and also more food inside. The bbq items were cooked by order and the inside food had more of the Filipino dishes like (adobo). But next to the cashier, you could also find other fried dishes as well. So a little complicated. You also have the option to sit outside under the tent or inside the restaurant with AC. For this type of place, if you're dining in, you order & eat first then pay. Like any karindera. Overall, this place was VERY good & SUPER AFFORDABLE. If you want to experience a true Filipino experience with great food, this place is for you.

Everything was pretty delicious. The pork adobo was super fatty, but delicious and tender. The pinakbet was flavorful, but I wish there were more squash and meat. The pork guisantes meat was pretty tough. The halohalo was huge, but I wish it was a bit sweeter. The casscaron and banana lumpia were amazing. Staff are super friendly. Lots of table to dine at and a decent sized parking lot. They don't have a menu and they only serve 1-2 choice plates, no more, but you can order side dishes as well. They said the 2 choice plates are under $20.

Some were in the steam table and some were simply placed on the counter on a plate with no heating underneath. There was a full spread of Filipino food straight from my childhood but what I was looking for was biko and bud bud and that I found! Those two items were only about $10. It was exactly like I expected. The bud bud was colored purple. It was perfect dipped in sugar! The biko was also very good. I always get transported back in my mind to days when my mom would bring me to Filipino potluck parties where I got to enjoy food from my culture. I'm glad this place exists and I'll be back to give them another try.
