I regret going into this Sports Arena location as both the employees and manager were not helpful and unprofessional. I went into this particular store to exchange sizes for shorts that I bought via Door Dash. When I entered the store, I asked one of the employees where I needed to go to return/exchange an item. It was in the same line as checkout. There were 5 people in line with 3 working the cash register. The manager, Jordan, was talking to the staff but did not help with the line. When i got to the counter, one of the male staff with curly hair said i needed to grab the size i wanted. I asked where the item was located and if i had to wait in line again. He pointed to a general area and said I had to wait again. When i went to look for the item, I wasn't able to find it and the same employee walked by without providing assistance. I had to track him down to assist but I felt that I was burden to him as he gave my a bit of attitude. I finally find the right size and returned back to line with only one person working. I explained my frustration with what had happen and asked to see the manager. Jordan mentioned that this particular employee is new and this will be used as a training opportunity. I didn't feel confident with his response as Jordan did not want to be there as well. Based on this experience, I will not be coming back to this location. They need to learn from the employees and management from the Carmel mountain location. read more

Horrible experience with online order. Tried to order a couple of tennis racquet grips online 1.5 hours before I was going to be in the area to pick them up. I went in and they were not ready for pick up, so Kenny at the front said to just go grab them and they would take care of it at check out. Carlos in check out did not take care of it as Kenny said he would. He did not cancel the online order. He just checked me out as if there were no online order and charged me more than the online order. I told Kenny how his directions were inaccurate and he just wanted me to go back to Carlos, who did not seem to know how to handle things. Kenny offered to try to find a manager but indicated that it might take a while to find one. I was in a hurry and could not wait. Kenny then started shouting inane, gratuitous platitudes to me as I left. They don't need a greeter that is unable to provide customer service, they need a manager or assistant manager at the front to provide the customer service that their employees are unable to provide. Five stars all around. I came in to make an exchange after an online purchase I had made. I had no idea where to find my items, but Krystal found me and was most helpful! She walked around with me to find all of my items and even pointed out ones that I might like. After her help she checked me out at the register since she understood my situation and applied a coupon for me. Somehow I ended up purchasing way more and not paying another dime. I also have to mention that Roger, one of the managers, is outstanding. He helped Krystal when she was stumped at one point. You could really tell that they were all a team. Wow! I've never been in here and ran in on Saturday morning, just after opening on a mission. A mission to find something for a 1yr old's birthday gift. I found a mini pig-skin and mini soccer ball, but $9.99 each. They had no clothes for little ones, but as I zoomed through the store looking I was really amazed at all they did have. Fishing gear, hunting gear, soccer, football, golf, tennis, bad-mitten, beach sports, etc. They had a decent clothes selection and just like all sporting goods places it was all over priced, in my opinion. I went to Dick's Sporting Goods with a mission: Find a Padres Shirt! I saw a rack of Padres gear when I first entered the building, but didn't see much for women. Looking around a while, i finally asked someone at one of the checkout counters where the Padres gear could be found. She pointed me in the right direction and I found the jackpot! I ended up purchasing 2 of the 6 or so tops I tried on. It wasn't busy at all in the store, so I didn't have any problems finding an open dressing room or checking out. During check out, the guy helping me asked if I was part of the frequent buyer club. I wasn't and he quickly signed me up and explained the program to me. He also scanned in a coupon so that I could get an additional 200 points...you only need 300 to get something! He was very friendly and helpful. The Padres gear is a little more expensive than other stores, however, they have a much wider selection here. I will definitely be back for other sporting goods needs. read more

Don't order from this location. Their website claims online pickup in an hour. I needed an item for a next day trip. After 2.5 hours without notification, I decide to drive to store and just see if I can pickup item myself from shelves and tell them to please cancel my online order. Two workers had no idea where the item was. I then proceeded to go to front to ask them to help me or see what delay might be. I was told during holidays that it can take longer, which was a little ironic considering there were four workers at registers with no customers chit chatting amongst themselves. After some back and forth, she asked her manager to check for the item. I wait 10 minutes and she comes back to tell me they don't have it period(even though I purchased it) and that they are going to cancel my order in the morning. No offer to fix my problem at another location or have it shipped to me etc. Terrible service. Also, while I was waiting, I had the pleasure of seeing another worker taking Hoka boxes to hide behind the registers so he can purchase them later because they were 90% off. The other girls behind counter(so busy with holiday stuff...) were talking about having him find more and the fact that can resell the sale items to make a profit. So not only is the time apparently not spent productively for the workers in store, you're also not going to find good sale items here as they will be hidden in the front I see. Hubby loved the feel and fit of the Walter Hagen brand, and on sale, because there is a rubber-like strip on the waistband to prevent the shirt from coming out. I went into the El Cajon store to look for workout clothes and found everything in such disarray and so jammed in that I almost gave up trying to find what I needed. However after finding a couple of items I walked over to the woman standing outside of the fitting room and asked to try on the items. She never answered me, never made eye contact just rolled her eyes walked over and unlocked the fitting room. When I came out she was standing there folding clothes and I asked her if I should leave the items on the table and, again, I get this disdainful look and disgruntled "Yes leave them here". Again no eye contact, no have a great day. Nothing. For the prices they charge in that store I would expect at least decent customer service. I will never shop there again read more

Today was my first time shopping at Dicks Sporting Goods and I could not be happier with the experience. I was shopping for a fishing rod for my partner but unfortunately have never been fishing so I needed quite a bit of guidance. I visited 3 other stores hoping for help but left empty handed, feeling very overwhelmed by the options and my lack of knowledge in this area. I came to Dicks hoping to receive more knowledgeable assistance than I'd received with competitors. Just my luck, I found all that and then some with your employee, AJ. AJ went well above and beyond to help me with my decision. He took the time to careful answer all my questions and even teach me a few things along the way! He never felt me feel embarrassed by my lack of fishing know-how (as other stores did) and seemed genuinely happy to help. For a full 20 minutes, he made it his absolute mission to find the *perfect* rod and reel for my partner's needs and my budget. I am over the moon with my purchase and even more satisfied with what an exceptional person AJ was! I went into Dicks completely deflated and overwhelmed with making this purchase and left the store dancing in my shoes and contemplating hugging the man for taking such care to help me make the perfect purchase! read more

Came here to see if anybody else had to complain about the customer service and holy shit the worst!! I returned a pair of shoes a day after I received them online, they were too small. Guy at the register checked them out for a good 10 minutes to make sure they weren't used. He also said all but 4 words to me. How's your day bud? After a very awkward return, I headed to the back of the store to check out their shoes... when I asked for a certain size she checked and told me that they "were kids and only went to a size 3, if I wanted youth they were up against the wall". Complete waste of time. I am looking for 2XL integrated pants. I have been in the last three nights in a row. Monday night I was told that a new shipment including football gear was coming that night at midnight. Tuesday night I was told that they have not gone through the shipment yet. This store reminds me of Sports Authority. Lots of merchandise for every sport you can think of. There was a pretty large clearance section when I looked through but even with the sales the items were still fairly pricey. They carry all the brand names (Nike, Under Armour, Reebok) and it is a large store. If you are looking for gear specifically tailored toward a certain sport, it is likely here. If you are looking for stuff a bit more on the slightly cheaper side (particularly workout clothes) I would stick to a Big 5 where there are more deals. read more

Second visit to this location in two days time. I'm disabled so when I got here yesterday I was surprised to see one of the four disabled spaces taken up completely by Target store baskets. I let Dicks Sporting Goods know this and that maybe they should get rid of these baskets since it makes it impossible for a disabled person to use the spot. The lady who worked in store told me she'd get right on it. Here I am back today and the baskets are still here taking up an entire space. This is really awful considering if this was a person doing it the fines are considerable. So what's the fine for a store to leave baskets? Who do I call? Impossible! Anyways I consider this both stores negligent and really not caring about their customers. I'm amending my post, I can't technically say it's Dicks, evidently they cannot move Targets baskets. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I went in today to get my fishing reel spooled. Was told by the employee behind the counter that they currently only had one person that knows how to do it but he was on lunch break and that he'd return in about 10-15 mins. Just to play it safe I waited for about 20-25 mins in the parking lot. Once I return he was assisting another customer. While on the phone He looked at me and asked me what I needed. I told him I needed my reel spooled. He said okay in a moment. After another 10 mins of waiting he finished assuring the other customer and asked again what I needed again. He said he would not be able to do it today or if I wanted to leave it and pick it up in 2-3 hours to get it completed He knew what I needed from the beginning when we first spoke and could had simply told me that he would not be able to assist me. With so many people and not being busy, I'd think someone would escort me to the area and help me from there. To me, that would be customer service. I found a black one of what I was looking for eventually, but they didn't have the one I wanted in the store, only online and they couldn't order one for next day shipment. Second time at Dick's: Went to buy running shoes. Browsed the merchandise and found a few I wanted to try on. Couldn't find anyone to help me. Went to the front to ask for help with shoes. Employee brushed me off and told me that so-and-so was back there, or maybe that person was on break. Had to negotiate with this employe to get her to call someone back. Went back to shoes to wait. No one came. Walked out. Bought shoes at Roadrunner. Third time at Dick's (I have no idea why I went back): Went in looking for performance apparel. Had questions about other sizes/colors. No one around to help. Had to stand in line at register to ask. Made eye contact with a woman who was near register tagging merchandise, and clearly indicated that I had a question. She ignored me. Got to the front of the line, and they didn't have the scanner to do a stock check, so woman who was tagging and ignoring me actually had to stop what she was doing to go find a scanner for her coworker. This cycle went on: every time I had a question about an item, I had to get in the register line. I gave up: I bought a slew of items and returned most of them, then I found what I wanted on Amazon. Dear Dick's: Paying enough employees to work in your store--and training those employees on quality customer service--is a necessary expense. WARNING! DO NOT leave your car in this shopping center parking lot alone for more than 30 minutes. We had never been here before and shopped for a couple hours with family, on a Saturday night. Apparently there was a sports event across the street and our car was towed. How does the towing company know which cars are parked for shopping and those who are not using the event parking? They don't. The towing charge was $352. In reading other reviews of WESTERN TOWING [(619) 297-8697], they are well known for illegally towing cars and then afterward they leave a sign in the lot with their contact information on it. I asked questions about few products and they told me to ask someone else and I ended have to google that product to answer my own questions... and the manager name, Roger... this guy is always has headphone on during their working hours.. very unpleasant service and give people unpleasnt look whenever people ask question. I enjoy fishing as much as my husband does and their selection on fishing items is the best I have ever seen, especially compared to most sporting good places. It was so good I wish I seriously had saved up enough to buy everything for my fishing needs!! It doesn't stop there, this store is clean, huge and the day I went; the customer service was very helpful. I didn't have to look for an employee because there were about 5 around me. The parking is spacious as well! The dangerous part? It's next to Target, dangerous for me anyway. As far as prices go, it seems fair but they have most of everything you need for sporting goods. This store just open its doors the other week and I had time to check it out. On a quick note, you will not find Snowboards here, but a small selection of snowboard jackets. The bike selection, be it Tour, Road or MB's is limited and not of the best quality. What I noticed was that the selections for Hunting and Fishing Gear was extensive. This includes not only supplies, targets etc..... but also a wide variety of guns. Anyway, seems Dicks is limited in their sports items selection. You may not find everything here, but the other sporting stores near by will have what you don't find here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

About two weeks ago I bought some Nike Metcons and for the last two weeks have been wearing them almost every day. They're dirty and sweaty. About two times into wearing them I noticed that the right shoe seemed to have a stitching irregularity or something because it felt like there was a rock in the shoe. I thought maybe it'd go away once I broke them in but it never got better. I decided to see if Dick's would let me exchange the shoes, completely expecting them to say no because of how worn they already were, and I would have understood that. Instead they said it wouldn't be a problem at all. I took them in, they refunded me for the pair, and I went back to the shoe department and got another pair. Both times that I bought the shoes I was greeted by a sales person almost immediately and was helped the entire time. I know everybody wants to just order things online now, but sometimes you need something immediately. My wife and I have been into this Dick's a few times now and we love it. Stopped in last Friday. We usually visit the Chula Vista location but we were in the area so we decided to see what bikes they had in stock. Still sold out on the size we were looking for totally understandable during this pandemic. Daniel helped us out and answered all of our questions. He took his time didn't feel rushed he provided great customer service. I don't know if he realized but he had helped us before, last time we checked in to check out bikes. He was very kind and helpful that time too. We ended up buying a bike rack which we didn't even plan on buying. But we definitely needed one.
