Went last night looking for a LA Sparks t shirt for my wife. I checked online first to make sure in was in stock at that store. Walked in and found every other team has its own section but no sparks gear near them. I asked an employee for help and to quote her "in the year that I've been working at this store we have never stocked any Sparks gear. I've never seen it." So we start walking out disappointed. I'm fairly new to Dick's. I made some recent purchases using a gift card from Xmas. Ordered online and made some returns because what I received didn't meet my expectations. Several returns ensued, each time resulting in another gift card and another online order. All the returns were handled expeditiously with another gift card for the credit card. I'm giving Dick's a lower rating based primarily on their lack of customer service and lackluster approach to creating a friendly shopping experience and environment. Never will the words "May I help you?" or "Can I help you find something?" come out of the mouths of an employee, and not just one specific person. It's everyone! I'm not sure if it comes from the management or supervisors, but the employees mill around aimlessly and treat customers like they're invisible ghosts, not making eye contact, not smiling, and almost like The Walking Dead, zombie retail workers without brains. I'm really disappointed, as the merchandise here is robust and to the point where it's not easy to find certain items. I was ready to spend, but nobody wanted to help me relieve me of my money, so I left and move onto other retailers who want to earn the business. In an industry where so many sporting goods stores have gone under, Dick's can't afford for their customers to go to Big 5 or Champs, otherwise they may go under like Sports Authority, Sports Chalet, Sportsmart, Oshman's, and Copeland's. There are too many specialty shoe stores as well as general merchandise brick and mortar retailers that carries sporting goods equipment and apparel, let alone the plethora of online/internet shopping options (including Amazon) for Dick's to be complacent. I've read quite a few reviews of this store / location on Yelp, so my experience isn't unique. I'm usually not one to complain or point out shortcomings (in the event it was an off day and I want to give 'em a free pass for something which might be an abnormality) but it seems like it's a prevalent problem. So, ideally, corporate headquarters or the upper management takes notice and re-trains their employees to not do a better job per se, but do their job, and serve the company and it's customers by treating others they way they'd like to be treated. My advice is to have every single Dick's employee go across the street on Hawthorne Blvd., over to the Chick-Fil-A restaurant and treat them to a meal, but tell them to take notice on how the Chick-Fil-A employees are trained from the moment you enter the door with friendly proactive greetings, through the ordering process, payment and fulfillment of the order to exiting the restaurant. Chick-Fil-A knows customer service and how to train their employees (of course they're not without critics on their religious based stances and once in a while rogue racist employees writing offensive notes on customer receipts) as general guidance. read more

First of all...THANK THE GOOD LAAAAWD this location is here and we no longer have to drive to God forsaken El Segundo for the "closest" location, anymore! What should be a fifteen minute drive turns into something tragically longer! No more 405 freeway! No more traffic! Ever since Sports Authority and Sports Chalet closed, we've only had Big 5 around and their supply is sorely a hit and miss...miss...miss! Then enters this epic, majestic monstrosity of a store!! I literally wanted to open my arms and sing along with the angelic tune that was playing in my head! I first discovered Dick's; what a name, right?! Makes me think of all kinds of impure thoughts! Furrows brow and tilts head... Sorry...trying to stay focused, here... Okay, well I first discovered Dicks in Vegas and I absolutely LOVED the store!! It had everything you could possibly even think of, sports or activity related. This one is no different! The entire first floor is dedicated to fitness, minus a few other things thrown in there. They have clothes for men and women for yoga, fitness/athletics, sports; you name it...they for damn sure have it. They carry all the brand names like Nike, Puma, Reebok, Under Armour, and then some. Their Nike section is huge! It's bigger than the one in Vegas. They have a huge selection of tennis shoes, flip flops and more! They have gear for every sport from golf, baseball, and football to fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding! One thing that I really appreciate about Dick's is the fact that they consistently have good weekly sales and send out coupons, both by mail and email and yes, you can combine them! They have good sales in-store and even better sales online. I bought my 40oz. Hydro Flask online, only because the store didn't have the colors that I wanted. In the store, it was $46, online it was on sale for $29! See my point??! So it pays to pull up their website while you're in the store, to compare prices! I workout for competition and meal prep. I like that they have a great selection of clothes to choose from, meal prep bags, ice packs, and reusable flatware. One problem that I had was finding a bag big enough to hold my food and drinks. Under Armour makes one in 4 sizes, so it was perfect for me to get the second to the biggest one. It was $50, but that was better than some of the meal prep bags out there, which average almost, if not $100 for the same size as the one that I got. Plus, I used a coupon for even more added savings! The staff that I encountered was very friendly and helpful, smiling and very much approachable. They have call buttons all over the store if you need help in certain sections, which is nice so that you don't have to walk all over the store and look for help. This is one of those stores that pretty much has all of the things that the sportsman is looking for; everything from clothing, shoes, bikes, all the way onto kayaks. As this location is brand-new it is very clean and nicely organized inside. This establishment actually has two levels. It offers it's clothing and shoes on the bottom level and then you go up the escalator to find bikes, camping equipment, fishing gear, golf supplies, etc. This is not a discount house so expect to pay list price. This being said, their prices are competitive and their shelves and their racks are fully stocked. This new location is located in the Del Amo Mall. Dick's is the Home Depot of Sporting Goods. I visited Dick's this morning for the grand opening and I was truly impressed. The store is huuuuge. It occupies two floors in the Del Amo mall. This store has a great selection of Lucy, Calia by Carrie Underwood, Nike and UnderArmour. I'm a huge Calia fan so I'm glad they have that gear right up front. They have great deals this weekend and awesome coupons. Melvin Gordon will also be signing autographs today at 1 p.m. Wristbands were handed out earlier this morning for the autograph signing and there were so many guys in line. Sheesh! What a nice Dick's! I like this location. It's so well appointed, easy parking, and nice employees. It's located Upstairs from Joanne's near the Macy's Men's Store at Del Amo Mall. Park near Macy's Men's store and Joanne's and take the escalator or stairs. They sell high quality and that is what I like. Avoid those knock-off of Nike, Adidas, and other designers sold on Amazon, and just buy here for first quality. So any people buy sportswear on Amazon and don't realize they are copies, not the real thing. It's hard to tell. They have a really nice shoe department too. The minute I pulled in to look they asked me if I needed anything. Prices, not bad and some less than what you will find on the internet because they are not allowed to advertise some discounts. I ordered online and picked up in the store and it was fast and easy. They were one of the very few places that sold a particular high quality athletic insert from Sof-Sole that I needed ASAP. You scan your bar code at a machine near the register and someone comes over and gives you your stuff. How easy is that? I went shopping online. I wanted to see if anyone had a particular product on sale. One of the websites I visited was the Dick's Sporting Goods website. I found the product. It was on sale. Most importantly, there was no caption stating that the price shown online only applied to internet sales. I was in the vicinity of Del Amo, and detoured to the Torrance store to make the purchase. While the product was on the shelf, the price was not as listed online. Fast forward: when I got home, I called the 800# listed on Dick's website. The customer service representative conceded that the in store price might be different than what was shown online. This complaint is not directed at the Torrance store per se; but I don't know how to forward this issue to the appropriate policy group within the Dick's Sporting Goods organization. If a price shown on the website is only good for internet purchases, and not applicable for in store purchases, make that clear on the website. Otherwise, honor the price in store. If you don't, I believe you're engaging in "loss leader" activity--which is illegal. read more

Customer Service (or lack of) in the footwear area is atrocious. Multiple staff supposedly available to help. Even after putting my shoe request in the kiosk, I'm still chasing down someone to help me. Maybe it's because I'm a short women and not an athlete I'm overlooked, but it is ridiculous how long it is to get a pair of shoes to try on after tracking someone down. The staff seems to go hiding in the back. Like a bunch of young college kids with their first job who don't really want to work. This will be my last attempt at this store. I went to this Dick's Sporting Goods store because my brother needed to return some clothes that didn't fit. The clerk was very nice and took the returned merchandise. She directed us to exchange the clothing with other options. The store is big, and it carries lots of sporting merchandise. There is for men, women, and kids. They carry a lot of big brands like Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, and Puma. The store was clean and well kept. The only issue that I had was my brother was trying to try on the clothes he wanted to exchange but we couldn't find an available fitting room. They need to fix the fitting room locks because from the outside the lock shows "Vacant", but it was always locked. It was very confusing and when trying to seek help from the staff there were nowhere to be found. In addition, the buttons outside the fitting rooms to call staff didn't work because nobody was showing up. Since we couldn't find an empty fitting room my brother had to try the jackets in the middle of the store. This Dick's Sporting Goods store is in Del Amo mall next to Macy's. Went in to buy a baseball bat and it was all going smoothly, he got it for me and asked if i wanted to try it out at their indoor batting cage. I said sure and he took me over there and I was taking small unserious little swings because i was just getting a feel for the bat. This sporting store isn't too bad. Just be aware it's above Johanns so you have to take the escalator up, which is fine i just didn't know. The bottom floor is just full of clothes which seemed overwhelming and excessive but whatever. The top floor is where most of the equipment is, they have most the major sports equipment but if you're looking for the minor sports it gets a bit limiting. I went there for some fishing equipment, they had an ok selection but i wouldn't say the best. Also, there is t really anyone there that seemed to know about fishing lake versus ocean or what to use for certain species but i get that it would be hard to know everything. read more

Went on Veterans Day Monday at 2pm - Staffing looked adequate, but the service I received was poor. I asked for a size to a male staff in the shoe section, and he scanned the barcode and stated he would be back with a size. Upon waiting approx. 10 min (at the same spot) I hear nothing from the guy, but whether him re-arranging shoes or putting sales-stickers. I still wait thinking he got someone else to get the shoes or something. Another staff (female) comes up to me and ask if I need any help. I tell her I am waiting for a size from him (I point to him who is still rearranging) She goes to him and ask him about my request. I walked closer to them to hear what he says and he says "oh, I forgot" to her and tells her to help me. No apology for having the customer wait for the last 15 minutes now. The female staff comes to me and rescans the shoe to get me the size. Moments later, I go to him to ask for a size for a second shoe. I tell him "please make sure you do not forget this time". He doesn't even bother to stop and tell me in my face, but walks off and says "it was really busy". Very poor service and training for doing this line of work. And he looked like a shift leader too. So when I see this kind of mess while receiving service like I did today, I guess it's expected. No one organizing, which seems like Dicks Display papers, receipt roll and trash. Recently opened at the Del Amo Mall. This is a two level store really big so much to look at you could spend hours browsing sections are divided by sport type. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can enter from the outside or from the mall. Lots of parking as well. Store is clean and with two levels you have access to the escalator or elevator to go to and from the second level. Overall great store for all your sporting goods needs since the closure of Sport Chalet and Sports Authority and the lack of stuff at Big 5. Very big store as well. read more

wanted to go check out one of the last sporting goods store in the area. this is a big store with lots of stuff. clothes, shoes, hats, flip flops, sport shoes like soccer etc. Upstairs they do have lots of gear. golf, football, baseball, hunting, camping, guns, bike and fishing. most of it is the basic stuff you would find in most sporting goods stores. prices are normal for a mall based store. you really wont find any great deals or sales on stuff, unless they send out coupons or something. from what i could see the prices on the name brand stuff, IE NIKE etc are on par with most stores. big store, nice and new, check out line was kind of small, only 4 check out counters. but it didn't take that long. i got a under amor compression fit top for cycling and i paid about $35, not bad. i would shop here again if i needed something that i knew they had. the staff people i did run into were nice and offered help. read more

I found the employees to be helpful, but I was not in a rush. We came here to browse and just spend time inside on a rainy day. Well Dick's Sporting Goods did not meet our needs for our sporting gear. You have to hunt for somebody to open the dressing rooms. It took about 30 minutes to find someone in the store even when they have doorbells that call workers to open the doors to the dressing room it took that long. Online says they have stuff you get there and they don't, then they have the nerve to blame it on The computer or register's. I asked, a millennial worker to help, "He told me no we are completely out of everything for skiing." So being me I went to go look for myself and wouldn't you know they're on the rack ski clothes. It was limited but they had some. On my way to return their junk Dick's sucks! Only my opinion sorry Dick. By the way management you might want to tell their workers after having sex in the dressing room to pick up their used condoms. The staff members were very helpful directing me to a particular item. Parking was very easy during the week and the store is adjacent to a parking structure. I'm here at dicks sporting goods store and try to purchase 2 pair of shoes one pair apparently wasn't available to be sold yet! They made me take them off (yes I had them on) and give them back I have never been so humiliated in my life!!! The manager Larry said he cannot over ride the system and dosen't know when the release date is. I asked him "why were they on the floor"? He of course said he dosen't know. I was given a 10% discount for my trouble. They put my name on those shoes and will call me when they can be sold.
