I almost immediately wanted to put it safely back in the box. But I know that if I don't do it then I may never pick it up! The Standard comes with ketchup, aioli , tomato and cheese. Fair warning: it comes with more than a healthy amount of both the first and second sauces. It was pouring out! I too much! It was all over my face and my hair and other body parts. The warning was the wet wipes. Offered by bbq places. Soggy. Soggy buns. Was it good? How will I know? It was covered in aioli and ketchup! The meat had no chance to shine. The hand cut fries are not included. Extra pay and not that good either. Dry and not salty. So $7.49 for the Standard + fries. Meh. I've had better! I've herd many people rave about this place and I would consider it an elevated Smash Burger. I say that because the patty 100% reminds me of Smash because it's size and I think they actually smash theirs too. The patty has more flavor than Smashburger and is cooked way better. Overall a quality burger. While there I also had the Ranger Fries, delicious,.. although I wish it was real chopped up bacon on top rather than the store brought bacon bites. The burgers here are very good, nice texture, flavor and an almost perfect bun, however the fries can be very salty. The customer service is awful, I've been in here many times and they are pretty consistent with the rude demeanor towards customers. Unless I have a craving for Diesel and Duke my preference is to patronize other businesses first. read more

The burger was not bad but not great either. After reading many reviews about this place I decided to try it. It was a 30 min drive for me which was not worth it. Not because it was a bad burger but because I can get a better burger closer to my home. I enjoyed the cajun fries better than the burger (but not another fry I tried, more below). The meat did not have much flavor. In my opinion shake shack burger is better, so there is no point on going out of my way for this. The cajun fries were crunchy on the outside and soft inside and a good fry should be, the cajun seasoning added a nice kick. Based on my good experience I decided to try the poutine, what a mistake, this was just fries with melted cheese, you can see there was some type of gravy but so little that you cannot tarde it at all. I came here with Boo Boo for Friday night dinner. The staff is very friendly and let everyone know that they are swamped and our food will take around 20 minutes. I didn't mind because he honored the free fried oreos with the yelp check in. We ordered the breakfast burger burger with mushroom, a order of regular fries and the free oreos. We also got the a water and ice tea lemonade. Really good gourmet burgers at a fast food price in Montclair is bonkers. I would come here 9 out of 10 times over Mickey D's but 3 hamburgers with extra onions and big Mac sauce is one of my guilty glutttons. Mmm so juicy! Like man, this place totally lives up to it's reputation here! And also, really reasonably priced. It is a small establishment, which I didn't expect, so there wasn't a lot of seating (like a few stools at a counter). But lots of people came and went for to go, so that must be their specialty, so no need for more room. I got the Bacon Shroom (bacon+mushrooms+mozzarella) which are like all my favorite toppings, $7.49. I really had to hold over and go threw a few napkins because it was so juicy, but that's what I love! It was made fresh but it really didn't take too long. They also have fried oreos, which I did not try but look forward to trying someday. Damn, these burgers are good. Think Shake shack quality but like,bigger and cheaper. Atmosphere: Small space with little seating. Came around 6pm on a Friday and beat the dinner rush. Burgers: I got the standard with added bacon and substituted american for aged cheddar. Really solid burger. Patty is tender and juice, and veggies are fresh. Bacon is plentiful and a good blend between crispy and chewy (does that make sense?).It's rather filling and all for under $10. Partner got the smokeshow, and it was good. He wished the onion ring was a little crispier though. My only complaint about the burger is that the bottom bun can get soggy over time and the burger is crazy messy. We also shared the poutine fries. They are plentiful and very delicious/filling, and the gravy isn't too overwhelming and has a great peppery flavor to it. Fresh chop meat hand molded into a patty right before your eyes and then a scale right there making sure you get every ounce you deserve!!! I went with the HOLYPEÑO burger. Perfect. You won't be sorry. Fries are fresh and hand cut right there. You can get them regular, we got the Ranger Fries and the Poutine fries. I may need a bypass tonight, but it was well worth it. 100% our favorite burger spot in the neighborhood. We are regulars here - the Holy-peno is fantastic - jalapeno, bacon and cheddar cheese, all of my favorite toppings... and chipotle mayo sauce. The hand cut cajun fries are hard to resist - we usually get a side order of these with our two holy-peno burgers. All the burgers are made-to-order so have always been piping hot upon receival. The guys behind the counter are very nice and courteous. Was home for the holidays and came with a friend looking for greasy food to help cure a hangover. Came across in a Yelp search and heard about the SPBB (Sriracha Peanut Butter Bacon) and I had to try it. FOOD: I had the SPBB ($7.99). It was weird in the delicious way. Who knew peanut butter on a burger would work? I kind of wish the burger had something more crisp or fresh on it (lettuce or tomato? Not sure -- might make it too weird) to help balance the texture because the peanut butter is so creamy. I was pleasantly surprised though and they definitely get creativity points in my book! I also shared the Cajun fries ($3.49). They were pretty good -- not that spicy, but crispy and tasty. AMBIANCE: It's a super small joint -- probably 7 or 8 seats in the whole place, just at couple counters facing the wall and window. Some really cool chalk paint art on the wall though. SERVICE: It's order and pay and grab your food, so there's not much need in the way of service. The guys working there were very friendly and nice. One guy gave me a bottle of water for free because they couldn't give me cups (there are weird sink rules for drinking water in restaurants I think), which was really nice. Since moving into the area, my girlfriend and I have stopped at Diesel and Duke a few times to grab a tasty burger. The Standard, the Smokeshow, and the Holypeño are dang good burgers that are a step above your typical fast food. The Ranger Fries are great, but must be eaten almost immediately if you don't want a sloppy, soggy disaster. The menu is limited and it's not the cheapest, but the quality of product is fantastic and I haven't had a bad meal from them yet. My go to for burger spots is stuffed, as the prices are about the same but I was a bit let down that the donut burger pictured isn't there, Stuffed still has theirs. I had the breakfast burger which was was pretty good but had a similar burger that was done better. Still in its own right solid. This place took the spot of Anderson 1949 and just as mentioned in that review the place is small and there's no bathroom so if it's not nice outside its pretty much a take out spot. First, the menues which you find on lline don't reflect their current menu; they don't make anything - burger or poutine - which requires a fried egg, so the breakfast burger doesn't exist, and the counter boss didn't care. And then, when we got home, our two orders of standard fries was missing - although on the receipt we paid for - and we had to drive back two miles to get them.
