Ate at diggers today with my wife. We've been there before but it didn't stand out to me as much as it did today. GREAT SERVICE. The lady helping us was extremely friendly and excited to help us. PORK LOIN DIP. What can I say, hands down the best sandwich I've ever eaten at a deli. This thing rocked my socks. Dutch crunch, thin cut pork loin, smoked Gouda, au jus, and a side of Apple sauce. This sandwich was no nonsense delicious! My wife ordered her usual vegetable something or other sand which. If it had a meat item on it I would consider ordering it because the sprouts looked so delicious on it. All in all, this one sand which will bring me back time and time again, and more often too. I'm having to update my initial review. It's rare that my initial impressions of a place lead me astray, but I was definitely in the wrong here. I am in love with Diggers Deli! If you have not had the Reuben sandwich, drop what you're doing and go get one. I was in heaven from the first bite. I don't know that I've ever been sad that my food was gone before I was ready. I had a deviled egg as well before the sandwich, which was very tasty, though I would like it with a bit more sweetness (perhaps a bit of sweet pickle?) My dining companion had the French Dip which was also delicious. My offered bite turned into two because I couldn't resist the flavor!! Cannot wait to return for another Reuben! read more

I grew up in Vacaville and stopped by Digger's with my husband while we were in town for the holidays. Upon entering, I was sad to see that a lot of the interior decor has been removed by the new owners and not replaced with anything... no menu boards or anything. Decor is just really plain. There was also a table out in the eating area that had papers and clip boards all over it - seemed like it should have been stuff in the office, not the dining room, but whatever. As we were approaching the counter one of the employees walked past and just said "You want a sandwich?" I thought was odd because it's a sandwich shop... what do you think I want? I told her that I was from Vacaville, but hadn't been there in a while and I needed to look at a menu. I handed one to my husband and took one myself - meanwhile employee stood there, leaning elbows on the counter and holding the order pad while we decided what we wanted - no attempt to help us decide, to explain anything about choices, or breathing room while we read a menu. We ordered sandwiches: hubby got the Reuben and I got a Kolossal Ken on Dutch crunch bread. Husband liked the Reuben, but said it was really messy and drenched in sauce. My sandwich was OK. Bread was a little chewy; nothing special. I would come here again if I'm on that side of town, but Digger's isn't on my "bucket list" of Must Go places when I'm home. read more

They got me again. I stopped eating here after trying it out when ownership changed. Sandwiches were just not up to standard. Bread was not fresh nor was the lettuce and tomato. Turkey was marginal. Today, I thought I'd try again because the owners had time to improve. I ordered a turkey sandwich on a sourdough roll. No dice, it had not improved. Bread was at least a week old, and the shredded lettuce was extremely limp. Turkey was again marginal, probably safe to eat, but not fresh. On the whole I did not enjoy the sandwich, and will not return. Too bad, since Diggers used to be my go to deli. read more

This place has been in Vacaville for years but not sure why mediocrity has become a staple. I asked for pastrami and corned beef on a single sandwich which I do at many other establishments, the counter person said we cannot do that, those are premium meats. What ??? Had to laugh under my breath. So I went with corned beef and to call it premium? Not so! virtually flavorless and the amount of meat for the price was laughable. I have been coming to Digger's Deli for years and I absolutely love the food and the environment. The sandwiches are always delicious and I have always felt welcomed and at home when I have come in. However, with that being said, a particular new person in the staff is the most obnoxious person I have ever encountered in my life. Most of the employees there are on their game and are very kind, but this person is the complete antithesis. I don't know if I should say his name or not, but I'm pretty positive it will be obvious who I am talking about. The last four times I have gone into Digger's, this person has been incredibly obnoxious and rude. Not just to me, but to fellow employees. It is evident how everyone in there is annoyed with him. He is loud, he calls out fellow employees for no reason, he tries to be funny but it comes off in the worst way possible. I don't know if he was hired because he personally knows the owner or if it's because of his own personal merit, but either way, the owner should not have hired him. I find this very unfortunate because I do enjoy the food in Digger's Deli but I have absolutely had enough of him. Digger's food is good, but not good enough to deal with a loud jerk. PS: I really hate writing this review. I never thought I would be writing such a scathing review about Digger's or an employee there, but I felt like this needed to be done. I have given him at least four chances and each time he has added to my personal distaste for him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt four separate times because I know how difficult it can be working with people and how we all have our off days, however, he seems to have a lot of off days. I love Digger's and I always will, but I really felt like this needed to be said. read more

I'd like to give a shout out to Diggers Deli. The sandwiches that were prepared for my to go order were enjoyed by those I purchased them for. Everyone said that the sandwiches were delicious. Being a native of Vacaville and always enjoying sandwiches there in the many years passed. It was such a treat. My mother in law worked there for over 30 years until the deli changed owners. It was nice to see that the sign above the entrance door was still in its place. My father in law made that sign many years ago. It warms my heart that the heart of Diggers Deli is still there. Keep up the great work and don't let the heart of Diggers Deli lapse. I will definitely come in again when I'm up in the Vacaville area. read more

Went in today because one of the employees Traci talked me into getting back into diggers. I was very impressed with the sandwich I got and customer service was off the hook. Overloaded with meats and cheese etc. Best sandwich I have ever seen and tasted awesome. Thank u traci I will be back.The person I had a bad experience with actually was cool and made my sandwich. Please check the order! The last three times my order has been wrong. I understand it's busy but it doesn't make it ok. I love the sandwiches and the pricing is inline with the quality. Just ate lunch and it was not good. The service was horrible. The person making our sandwiches left them and started making another order. After several minutes, I asked if that was our sandwiches that were sitting there. The person making the other order stopped and gave use our food. I don't have a clue why she started another order before giving us our food. This place had changed. The service was so slow. It took the person 10 minutes to make two sandwiches. I go down to San Francisco from Portland at least 3 times a year and everytime I go down and come back up I stop at Diggers Deli for a sandwich. If I'm going to a Giant game I have them make sandwiches for the game too. Best sandwiches around for sure. They make national chain sandwiches look cheap for sure. I have been going to Digger's deli since they've been opened practically, and I've always enjoyed their sandwiches. The new owners seem to be carrying on the tradition nicely, while adding their own updated spin on it as well. The staff is very friendly and YES, the sourdough roll is the best in town. My only main comment is it seems like since the new ownership, the meat ratio (other than the tuna) has been noticeably reduced. The last couple of times I've been there (which would be three times in the last week or so), I've been very disappointed that my sandwich, which was still very tasty, was really lacking in the meat department. They are not necessarily cheap either, I bought three sandwiches, two bags of chips, two cookies and a small bottled water and it was nearly $30. If the sandwich meat was bumped up just a little bit, they would be perfect. read more

I have been to Diggers Deli many times.... this last experience was terrible. There was 2 other people in front of us in line and nobody ordered behind us for 10 mins. I paid for the sandwiches and 2 drinks. Tipped $3 as well... so we sat down and waited.... and waited.. after 25 mins and 6 other orders behind us got their food I asked the lady's behind the counter why it was taking so long... they said the lettuce wrap sandwich still needed lettuce... wtf. But my sandwich had lettuce on it too... I guess it takes 25 min to male a lettuce wrap and a turkey sandwich. So the lady yells into the back and says just put it on gluten free bread... with no lettuce? I don't get it. I just asked for my $ back and she ignored me.. then under her breath tells the other girl..." does he not realize we are busy?" Never will I go back there again! read more

As a long time resident of Vacaville I'd like to say that Digger's is at the top of my list for sandwiches and the like. I have been going there for years and have always been treated politely. They have always gladly prepared my order with my 'customizations.' They offer numerous discounts such as military and seniors among others. They are welcoming and polite. They are also easily accessed by the handicapped (this is important to me, as many places claim to be accessible but really aren't!). I highly recommend this place and I love the fact that I can get a real sourdough roll for my sandwich and my favorite root beer! My wife and I both love eating there and will go out of our way to eat there. They cater too! read more

This has been a staple in Vacaville for a long time. Food is good but the employees need to learn how to be hospitable. I walked In wanting a roast beef and while I took a glance at the menu i felt like I was getting stared down. Ordered my food was given my tag and then proceeded to stand at the register while the employees behind the counter ignored everything going on except what they are doing . My review could be worse but with the big fires and they are making food for the firefighters I can't hammer them too bad, but there is no excuse for poor customer service if you can't handle a small customer base plus feeding the fire fighters then you need more people. Food was ok I've paid more for worse but it's not the same old diggers. Also gone are the days where you are rung up then when you sit down they bring you your food. There is no interaction what so ever and the walls are bare and grey where there used to be all kinds of stuff. The big cooler in the middle used to be loaded now it has just a few choices. I hope my review will spark interest to revive the place read more

I have loved this place since my husband introduced me to it a few years ago. I am so glad to see it back open and still serving great food. Also the staff is great. had an awesome italian panini here a few weeks ago. it was fresh, had great flavor and was a perfect portion before my piano lessons next door at live music center. they have a section of some classic candy like necco waffers whcih are a childhood favorite of mine. i showed up around 6 pm and there was no wait and plenty of people working to help me out and check on me. props to diggers. read more

Honestly their sandwiches are semi overpriced . & I would be willing to pay for it if it wasn't for their rude staff . Every time I've been in there they have questioned what I tell them I would like to order.. Yes I get very plain sandwiches , you shouldn't be questioning me about it though . Hands down the best deli in vacaville, and we have tried them all! The food is so fresh and done incredibly well. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the customer service. Diggers Deli under new ownership is great! The look of the deli is clean and relaxing. The new owners have managed to keep all that was good under the previous management while adding great new items as well as a great new look and feel to the place. Well worth a trip to check it out. Very slow, do not go here if your in a hurry. I was the only one in line ordered my food, they burnt my toast had to re-do my sandwich. I waited 20 minutes for a Sandwhich? As I was waiting for my order they were taking care of all the regular customers and forgot about my order. I asked for a fountain drink and they wanted to charge me close to three bucks for the soda. That's way over prices for a fountain drink soda. I will not be coming back here again.
