If I came here to say just one thing, it is this: AVOID at ALL costs their so-called "award winning duck," the only awards being won here are by whoever the marketing genius is that decided to charge $49 for the tiniest portion of duck I've ever seen. Dim sum box is located in Katy Asian town, so it's a very convenient location with lots of parking and other food and activities. Service is mostly self serve for ordering, and they will bring the food out to you. Food took awhile to come out even though the place was barely half full. But it doesn't seem like they have many service staff. The menu is a lot smaller than your regular dim sum place but it has the staples. I was pretty excited to try it as I heard that it was a subsidiary of a famous dimsum place. But the food was pretty alright only. The turnip cake was pretty good, and surprisingly was the egg tart too. The turnip cake was seasoned well and had a good texture. The egg tart tart was crispy and fragrant and the egg custard was not overly sweet. We also got a rice roll with duck, and the rice roll had a good texture but I'm not sure I like the duck in there. The other items were either alright or disappointing. The pork ribs were too salty, and the the bbq pork buns were not very fluffy and had a yeasty taste to it, and the bbq pork filling was barely there and a little too sweet. The dumplings (hargow and pan fried dumplings) were just alright. I would recommend making the trip down to Bellaire for dimsum if you're a picky dimsum eater like me read more

We've eaten here numerous times since it opened in Katy. The first Time was really good. We went during the week and the fried cauliflower was so good as was the ha cao and siu mai. The second time we went was during the weekend. We ordered the usual items along with chicken feet and pan fried noodles. I was craving dim sum and instead of opting to go to bellaire for dim sum, I decided to give this spot a chance. It's not your traditional dim sum restaurant, as you have to order what you want and find a table to be seated. Def not friendly for any party larger than 4. The dishes were good but nothing super phenomenal. We ordered the usual, shao mai, har gow, chicken feet, sticky rice, golden egg lava buns, bbq steamed buns, shrimp balls, rice noodles with shrimp. The only thing I really couldn't stand are the paper the buns sit on. I've had so many buns and usually the paper is peeled off fairly easy but it was almost impossible to tear off the paper without taking the whole bottom of the bun with it. I let the manager know but all he said was he knows and that's how they have to prep it. I don't know if he knows but I've had all different types of buns that sit on top of the paper and they almost never stick the way theirs does. Not sure if it was just that day and maybe something was off or if they truly prep it that way. Well cutting to the chase...this restaurant is supposedly opened by relatives of Fung's kitchen. I ordered some dim sum (remember they don't have a large dining area). I ordered the must haves siu mai, cheung fun shrimp and bbq pork, ha gao, turnip cake, char siu bao and their veg dumpling. Edible but not like Fung's even though related to them. Cheung fun is worse than mine. It took me 3 times but I finally got the ratio correct. Dim sum box's is too soft and they all stuck together. The concept of ordering at the counter doesn't work. They have these long tables on the side where the ordering counter is and it just creates a long line mess. Dim sum isn't a, "let's order 3 or 4 items" meal like fast food, you have to order about 7 or 8 for 2 to 3 people like tapas. So I had to write everything down otherwise I'll slow the ordering process down. They didn't have paper to write down what u want, which would really help ppl get it together before ordering. Next, the attitude from the staff. Oooooo man, I felt like it should be my honor to be a patron of their establishment. Our steamed dishes came out 15 mins after ordering, very reasonable timing, esp for soft opening. Then another 20 mins for the fried food and finally ... we had a missing order that simply never came out. After another 30 mins (on top of 40 mins), the one dish we ordered came to us. When they brought food to us, they didn't cross anything off so again, I'm questioning how do they know if the complete order was served. Food wise - good dim sum for folks living in the Katy area. Tried a new place for dim sum after seeing several post on AE and it was good. Before I get to the food, let me tell you how it works. It's not your traditional dim sum sit down, push cart or write down selection on sheet and hand to your waiter establishment. It's more like a cafeteria style concept. You come in, grab a menu & grab an order slip, and sit yourself. After you make your selections, you go up to the cashier and hand them your slip, pay and go back to your table. Then they bring you food out to your table. Oh, drinks you get yourself except for hot tea. Also, this places is not big so we can do the Asian thing and roll 10-20 deep in here. Now for the food, it's was good. I think they are a bit pricier than Dim Sum places in Chinatown but we are taking Katy area. I think they have the best banh cuon tom (shrimp rice rolls) around town. Comes out fresh and hot, texture is real soft and the sweet soy sauce is a perfect blend. Wife says the chicken feet is very flavorful and tender (homie here don't eat that).
