Went in with my SO around 3pm during the weekend and we were seated immediately. We ordered a variety of food: xlb, mapo tofu, shrimp noodle roll, bbq pork noodle roll, shumai, green beans and rice. Overall the food was really tasty, it reminded my SO of back home where he ate dim sum often. The service was quick and efficient and friendly enough. We will definitely be back, but I do want to try some other dishes next time! I highly recommend the shumai and green beans. The green beans were sautéed in some sauce that made them really tasty. If I were to have any complaint, we really wished there was an option to modify the order size (i.e. number of pieces included in an order) according to party size, as we ended-up with far too much food for 2 people. Tried this place for the first time. We went close to noon on Sunday, but there was no wait, which was great. While the restaurant name says Dim Sum, I felt the dim sum menu was very limited. It was more like regular Chinese restaurant offering some dim sum dishes with larger portions. Each "dim sum" dish was bigger and more expensive. But as regular dinner dish, most of them are good portions for the price. The ordering app definitely need some update to make the experience more pleasant tho. Top Gun nearby offer more variety for dim sum, but if you don't want to wait too long and eat smaller varieties but hot out of kitchen, this is a good place! read more

It took more than an hour to get our food, one dish at a time, 10 to 15 minutes apart. Each dish was excellent but their service was horrible. We ordered garlic Bok Choy and we were given garlic pea vine instead. When we told them it was the wrong dish, they insisted we ordered pea vine until I showed them our order placement form online. They returned with the pea vine and told us that they were out of Bok Choy and left us with pea vine. We had to pay for the pea vine, which was $5 more than what we originally ordered. They didn't tell us it was out of stock before making the pea vine and did not offer to let us pay the original price of the dish we ordered and made us pay for the new dish. COVID-19 takeout This was our second time getting food from here during coronavirus. The first time we called in our order and it was fine and ready for pick up quickly, but they said they prefer online orders. I usually try to give a restaurant the benefit of the doubt despite their ratings, but this is the first time where I see why the reviews are pretty consistent. My husband and I tried this place for the first time, he's been wanting to come here for weeks and he was super excited. Everything started out fine, we were seated quickly after showing our vaccinations card, we got tea and preceded to use the online menu on our phones. It was a little weird because the QR scanner kept leading us to another order and with the help of the waiter after a few tries we began to order after 10 mins. The prices actually stumped us as the prices wasn't the normal Dim Sum prices we were use to.. I think it would be a little more worth it if you came with more people. If it's just you and one other person you'll definitely be taking the food home. We got the Pork Soup Dumplings first which was actually pretty good. Most of the food was fine. The noodles was a little too oily for my liking, kept wiping my mouth with a napkin because my lips felt like it had lip gloss. Really the two reasons that changed my experience today was how one of the servers brought two Shrimp Dumplings to my table insisting that's what I ordered - I told her I was going to order that but I took it off before I sent in my order -- it was a mistake. She said it wasn't and left it on our table after I showed her my phone. Then the last thing was the bill.. they gave us the wrong bill at first, then after getting ours.. the waiter opened our receipt book in front of us and asked for more tip, left the book open and just left... I was just completely shocked.. my husband who treated me for the meal was shock. Most dim sums are in set of 8's. They also have a full kitchen to order other non dim sum items such as fried rice, clay pot rice and stir fry noodles. My favs are the the baked bbq pork pastry. It is soft, flaky and crunchy. The shrimp and chive dumplings are good and the peanut sauce with fried rice roll with soy sauce are tasty too. Such an immense let down. Extremely expensive, horrible service and the food is flavorless. Only come here if you like to be ignored. To get an extra napkin I had to go to the next table and get one despite trying to ask several times. They immediately came and replaced it but never bothered to ask if I needed more or if everything was ok. This is one of a numerous examples. How are dumplings $10 at lunch?!? Not too much mayonnaise, the batter was crispy and wasn't saggy. It's not your Americanized honey walnut shrimp where it's hella sweet and soaked in mayonnaise. Beef and green bean, perfect. Green bean was fresh and when you bite into them. It snaps right in half. Beef was tender and wasn't chewing a eraser like Panda Express. Seafood fried rice with garlic, basic fried rice but they don't cheap out on the seafood, they give you hella seafood! Mushroom and tofu skin aka tofu skin delight. Hands down the best tofu skin with mushroom dish around Bellevue. They give you lots of tofu skin, mushroom and bamboo. Pour this over your rice and you're tasting heaven. I get the price is a bit high but think about where this restaurant is located. You can't blame them for having high price since it's literally located inside a mall. I will give them a pass on the price since it's probably hard to lower the price with the rent of a storefront inside a mall. They don't cheap out on ingredients, you get what you pay for, quality ingredients and convince to eat good Chinese food without having to drive to DT Bellevue or Seattle Chinatown. Service, I had to go and the guy that took my order was polite and told me exactly how long I had to wait. I came back on time and my food was there. What you want their servers to do? Feed you too? For Factoria Chinese food rating, this place is 5/5. I am shocked this restaurant is still in business: The Beef Brisket Noodle Soup had a weird smell There was hair in one of the Sui Mai The Beef Chow Fun tasted burnt A friend of mine and I wanted to go for dim sum, but didn't want to go all the way to the International District. She suggested Dim Sum Factory, as she had gone there several times, pre-COVID and hoped the food quality was still good. It is not. This was one of the weirdest dining experiences I have ever had. The menu is on a QR Code, which isn't new, but to order food to dine in, we had to order via the app, as if we were placing a mobile order for Starbucks. So no--no one takes our order; no ticket on the table as you would find at the teahouses or Din Tai Fung. Servers will not come to your table unless it is to drop off food, or you have flag them down, in which they respond as if you are an inconvenience, telling you "I'll come back." Using the QR menu is fine, only if there were descriptions of the dish. The menu consisted of just the name and picture of a dish. We order four dishes to share: the Singapore Noodles, Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, Sui Mai, and Shrimp Rice Rolls, after my friend had to waive down one of the servers to clarify what protein came with the Singapore Noodles (beef, shrimp, chicken, liver, etc.), in which the server yelled, "Chicken!" Whoa, lady--we're just asking you to tell us what protein came with the dish--we weren't asking you to donate YOUR liver. My friend had also requested additional napkins. She threw the napkins mid-sprint to lessen her interaction time with customers. The first dish that arrived was the Singapore Noodles. They were okay. The next dish to arrive was the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup. My friend started to ladle the soup and noodles into a bowl and noticed a weird smell. Immediately, I said let's just send it back, as we didn't feel safe eating it. We flagged down one of the servers, in which he asked if we wanted to order something else instead. We chose the Beef Chow Fun. Shortly after, the Sui Mai arrived. My friend had a couple, then saw that one had a hair in it. We flagged down the server again, and told him about the hair. He didn't ask if we wanted to order anything else, so we assumed he was just going to take it off the bill, considering we had already sent back the soup. The Shrimp Rice Rolls arrive, as does the Beef Chow Fun. The Shrimp Rice Rolls were bland. The Beef Chow Fun was incredibly disappointing. I grew up eating Beef Chow Fun (and dim sum)... this dish was burnt soy chow fun. There were barely any bean sprouts or beef slices. It just tasted like burnt soy sauce. At this point, I really did not feel safe eating anymore food. We both have stopped eating, no new order of Sui Mai was in sight, so we flagged down the server once again, and asked for our bill. We also wanted to confirm that they were NOT bringing us a new order of Sui Mai, and he said no, and immediately brought us a new basket of Sui Mai to justify charging us for it. The bill comes and we check to be sure everything was correct, and we weren't charged extra for the replacement dish. We weren't sure if the replacement dish was the same amount of the original dish (normally, neither of us would have cared if the dish was good... or edible). The lady server says no, the replacement dish was more expensive, then proceeds to get an actual menu to show us. Who does that? Both my friend and my parents owned a restaurant. So, we are a little more forgiving, but this was the worst experience I have had in my life. Sure, there are times when you get amazing service, but the food wasn't great; or you get amazing food, but the service was horrible. Never have I had both atrocious food AND service. The restaurant industry is hard and competitive--your food has to be good, and hospitality has to be on point. You grit your teeth and smile; the customer is right, even when they're wrong; and sometimes, you have to take a loss--that is the restaurant hospitality world. At least that was what I was taught when I was in food industry hospitality. There are other dim sum restaurants. Literally, go to any other dim sum restaurant. read more

While being across the hallway at Funtastic Playtorium, my wife spotted the large dim sum storefront sign and suggested that I order takeout for dinner today. This is how it went... The breading on the salt pepper pork chop is extremely doughy. It's interesting bc the flavor that you're looking for is there however, you're then quickly turned off by the flour batter the more you eat it as it progressively gets soggier and soggier. Beef Noodle Soup was awful. If your breading is bad, your dough is bad. If your dough is bad, your noodles are bad. If the noodles are bad, the XLB has to be bad. XLB skin is disgusting. Soup is very sour and meat inside is questionable. ??? I took one bite and spat it out. The Shumai is ugly and very greasy. We threw everything away except for the Chinese Broccoli. Spent $75 and ate about $8 worth. That was our experience today. If this business cares about customer experiences, they will use this info as constructive feedback to better their establishment. I could have performed a full credit card dispute with this business but chose not to. I know how hard this Covid season has been on everyone running a business. I eat here all the time here with my family and have brought a couple of friends recently, the food is really good for the decent mall that it's in. You get greeted immediately once you walk in and get seated in a timely manner and it only took 30 seconds from entering the restaurant to getting seated. Ambiance was quiet when i went recently, but have seen it get packed on weekends. Overall the restaurant is really good for the place that it's in along with the friendly staff. I had a family reunion (group of 8) and one waiter rejected my request of needing more chili sauce... 2. Once i arrived I told them I only had 8 person instead of 10 so I wanted to remove 3 courses since I already ordered 2 days ago. But I was told it's already been cooking... 3. The waiter who didn't want to get me chili sauce FORCED us to pay 20% tips. He said they only calculated 12% tips on the bill and asked us to pay total 20% tips and remained 8% with CASH!!! Contrary to most dim sum places that serve dishes with small portions of each dish with 3 or 4 pieces per plate, dim sum factory serves dishes with 8-10 pieces per plate. While this is ideal for larger groups, it makes it hard for smaller groups to order a great variety of food (as we normally do at dim sum). Quantity aside, the quality of the food was top notch. The vegetable dumplings were plump and well-filled. We also ordered a tofu skin dish that was well-seasoned and delicious. The dessert custard buns were also delicious and very rich. read more

The shrimp dumplings are a favorite for the kids and adults while the Mongolian tofu, Szechuan green beans, and General Tso chicken are must orders for us! Service is quick and friendly. I placed an order to go for 24 items, so I knew it would take a bit of time. 45mins later I asked where is was and they had given it to someone else- then told me they would have the person bring it back. I've been to this place two years ago for dinner and was unexpectedly surprised at how decent the food was despite the low review. My family wanted dim sum so i decided to try this place again. We came at around 1230 and got lucky to get seated right away as people that came after us had to take numbers to wait for seatings. This place was packed, which is opposite of how it is on weekdays where it is completely deserted. Dim sum here is not the traditional where there are carts but you just order what you want and they will bring it out. We got the shrimp dumplings, the shanghai buns, chicken feet, spareribs with rice rolls, taro buns and bok choy in garlic sauce. Another non traditional thing is that the portion are a lot bigger. Usually, we would order like 10+dishes, but what we ordered was enough for us here. The shrimp dumplings was plump, full of shrimp and less of dumplings which is nice. The buns were soft and flavorful, they didn't pan fried it enough though because it should have that fried texture at the bottom but it didn't. They made these a lot better the first time I went. The chicken feet was good and came with pumpkin which was a little different. The taro balls were crispy on the outside and soft and filled with taros on the inside. The least favorite was the pork ribs and rice rolls, a little bland and nothing really special. The most favorite dish was the book choy dish. They were able to keep the green color and crunchy texture and the garlic gave it a very nice flavor. The tea was very fragrance and my parents liked it a lot. Overall, a good place for dim sum if you don't want to go to Seattle and also a good place for large group. I think our bill total was $87 but it fed 4 people with led overs and the food was terrific. The waiters were also terrific! I will moSt definitely be back! We ordered 7 different dishes. They all tasted excellent. I would order all of them again. My favorite being the bean curd roll and the pork and shrimp shui mai. We got there at the right time before it started getting full! 10 of us, 6 adults and 4 tweeners. There was something for everyone, vegetarian and the picky tweener eaters. Food started coming out maybe 10 min after we submitted our order. Then very steadily afterwards. They have my childhood favorite, crispy noodles! Their spareribs have chow fun included! Also had the egg yolk buns, taro buns, veggie dumplings, shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings (3 orders) the list goes on. I've been eating at Dim Sum Factory for 5 years or so. It was my go-to dim sum place for the good parking and spacious interior. Unfortunately, my recent experience this week means I will need to find a new favorite dim sum restaurant. THE GOOD: The "Szechuan Green Bean" was delicious, like it always has been. The "Mongolian Tofu" was also delicious, but I wish it would have been a lot spicier. THE BAD: The BBQ pork in 3 different dim sum dishes was flavorless. When I mentioned this to a waiter, I was told, "We hear that a lot. That's just how the pork is; it's dry. You should get the beef or shrimp version of your dish next time." The fact that this is a known issue and has not been fixed is disappointing. The "Hong Kong Style Chow Mein" was also bland and unappetizing. The sauce tasted like someone had forgotten to put salt in it. We wasted $16 on this and couldn't stand to eat more than a bite or two. We packaged up all our leftovers except this almost untouched dish, and the waiter never even asked us why we left it on the table. THE VERDICT: This restaurant used to be worth a 40-minute drive for me. The bland BBQ pork and chow mein, as well as the staff's acknowledgment of the blandness and suggestion to just eat something else are all a disservice to dim sum. It seems like they have a team of employees roaming around the restaurant, dropping off food, clearing plates, dropping tabs, bringing receipts to sign. If you need something you gotta flag someone down. Not my favorite style of dining. This place has the potential to be a hot spot. I think the service needs a few tweaks.
