As someone from the SGV, good authentic dimsum is so hard to find on the West side, but after trying many places around this side of town, this place is it!! Although a lil pricy, you're paying for authenticity here without driving all the way back to SGV to get your dimsum fix. When you don't have the time or energy to make it Monterey Park, head over to Dim Sum House. The portions are large and filling, and the flavor is impeccable. The cucumber salad was divine and can give Din Tai Fung a run for its money. All the dishes were seasoned so well and they even accommodated my very picky son with plain steamed tofu (an off menu item). There is a slight language barrier, but the language of food is universal! They were so kind and attentive, we loved it here and already planning to come back with more family and friends so we can try more of the menu. It's located in a strip mall, so plenty of parking. Pretty fire. Came here in the evening on the weekday and it was not too busy. I ordered 3 orders: the BBQ steamed pork baos, shrimp rice rolls, and hargow and they were all very delicious. I think 3 orders is definitely enough to share between 2 people. The price was also not too bad. It was around $28 including tip and tax I believe. I feel like nowadays it's difficult to find a dim sum place with quality food and service that's decently priced. I think my favorite out of the three would be the hargow. Not the biggest fan of shrimp (which i know is a little contradictory to my order) but the shrimp filling was so so good. The shrimp was nicely flavored and tender. Very solid and authentic Cantonese restaurant that specializes in dim sum. Tried a variety of dishes including shumai, hagow, sticky chicken rice, chicken feet, and chasiu bun. All passed with flying colors. Only catch is all the dishes were priced around $7.99-$8.99, which is on the high side compared with Chinatown or San Gabriel valley prices. But this is West LA so I guess it's par for the course. While only one waiter covered the restaurant, service was quick and efficient. Ambiance is plain and neat. Decent Dim Sum spot in West LA. I visited this restaurant with a friend for lunch on a Saturday and the restaurant wasn't too busy. The interior seemed old, but not too dirty. The condiment bottles and containers needed some cleaning though. There was just one server handling all the customers at the time I went. For food, my friend and I split the following: -Chicken Feet: I'm usually not a fan of these, but the flavor of them were pretty good and savory. -Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls: These were solid, no complaints. The shrimp was plump. I've had better though. -Sesame Balls: Crispy, chewy interior, and yummy. A bit of an oily taste though. -Fried Dough Sticks: Crispy and chewy, but also a bit of an oily taste. These paired well with the congee. -Preserved Egg and Pork Rice Porridge: Hearty and yarm. Wish it had more flavor though. -Pork and Shrimp Shumai: These were meaty and good. I've had better though. -Steamed Pork Rib: Was surprised with these. The flavor was good and the meat was tender. Also, we had an awkward experience here. The server let in a beggar who made an announcement to the entire restaurant begging for money. While it was somewhat admirable for him to do that, it was not appropriate for the setting especially since there were kids present. I felt pressured to donate and also felt unsafe. Overall, the food was decent, but there are better options for Dim Sum in the 626 area. Ok I need to take a moment for this delicious meal, this is One of the best dim sum restaurant from the west side LA, it is fresh made, you can taste the skin is very thin(because it is hand made, non like the one from frozen whole seller) the vegetables stir fry are fresh made, it is yummy crunchy and delicious. My favorite is the Chang fen, the shrimp is huge and generous putted and fold it. I'll definitely call there food made with love, the chef is so sweet gave us 3 fresh made egg tarts. This is actually a very good place to get Chinese food...This place replaces Golden China (on Venice and since closed) and Hu's (on National which will be closing due to their lease expiring). They have a nice selection of food (Chciken, beef, pork and seafood) and it will not disappoint. They also have a nice array of vegetable to select from. Don't understand how this bland, boring hole in the wall place could get so many starred reviews? I shop and get my hair done across the street and decided to give this place a try. Ok, most Chinese restaurants are not into decor or ambience but usually make up for it with the food. We arrived at 11:30 for an early lunch. Completely ignored by the one worker there. A few others came out later. After quite awhile waiting we told the guy "we're ready to order". He took our order the food came sporadically. Soup dumplings with no spoons. No small bowls for mixing our chili oil and vinegar, no fresh ginger. Gross and dirty chili oil, vinegar and soy sauce dispensers on the table and mostly empty. We ordered green beans, cucumber salad, and type of chicken dish and the custard tarts for dessert. They brought out the tarts (pre-made) and the green beans. For the longest time we had to wait for the other dishes slowly make their way out. The server just said, "they're coming" The cucumber salad made us laugh! It looked like someone chopped the cucumbers with the back end of a blunt object! Do they not know how to cut up a cucumber? The server was busy stuffing his face in the other room where we could clearly see him which explained why the service was so awful. This place is a total joke! Dim Sum House is my go to Chinese spot, they have a modern spin on traditional Chinese food with bbq buns, dumplings, and noodles. The store is located in a small plaza in Westwood. My favorite things to order are the beef rolls, baked bbq pork bun, and the juicy pork dumplings. The restaurant is special to me because of the atmosphere, it really feels like home every time me and my family go. A memory I have at this restaurant would be when everyone in my family went for my step-dad's birthday. I remember everyone ordering so much food and not being able to finish it. I can't believe I'm writing a review for dim sum on the Westside because for years I basically gave up trying to find it. Usually if you want good dim sum, you're driving farther east. I didn't even know this place existed until a couple of weeks ago. so I told my BFF we had to go. We both love Cantonese food and figured we'd just order a bunch of dishes and see what happened. The funny thing is I knew after the first bite. If you grew up eating Cantonese food, you know that moment. Everything just tasted right. I even ended up speaking a little Cantonese with the waiter, which was so much fun and something I rarely get to do anymore. We definitely over-ordered. Har gow, siu mai, chicken feet, chow fun, rice noodle rolls, spare ribs, cucumber salad, BBQ pork buns, sesame balls, egg tarts, Peking duck... I'm probably forgetting something. Couldn't think of anywhere to go for lunch so decided to give it a try since we've passed it 1 million times. It's pretty depressing sitting in there. There is absolutely nothing on the walls and some music wouldn't hurt either. Seems like there is one guy that pretty much runs the whole place and he's friendly and efficient but man every time he clears a table you just hear the clanking of dishes and silverware, etc.. Now onto the food... We had a few different types of dumplings... Shrimp, veggie, spicy chicken. They were OK. Nothing special and not sure I would try them again. They have a very extensive Chinese food menu and I might be willing to give it a try, but it's really tough with moon house just down the street because that place is awesome. read more

This spot has been a local Westside dim sum go to for awhile. The staff is no nonsense. The dim sum rivals the SGV spots in the simply decorated restaurant. The beef roll and hom soy gok are my go-to dishes. I also enjoyed the mushroom dumplings. read more

Unexpected great find! First time in the UCLA area on Thanksgiving. This restaurant was open and we wanted to give it a try. We only tried a handful of dim sum items but everything was very tasty and fresh. Service is what typical of a Chinese restaurant and food came out relatively quick. It wasn't extremely quick which makes me think they don't have a bunch of premade steamed stuff sitting around all ready to go. The shumai was especially tasty and I think they hand chop the pork or sometime. It doesn't taste like the preground minced pork you get at the store. read more

Overall : 2.5/5 rounded up for being solid dim sum on the West side. Recommend ordering delivery or figuring out non-peak times to go in person and expect it to be slow. Ambience - Simple, not the nicest but is decently clean, seems to be better ventilation in the big dining room but the entry way has 3-4 tables and gets quite hot. Service - I assume it is the owners running the place - they speak Chinese, are nice and are trying hard to keep up with demand. However it is very slow - the Sunday I went I waited 15 minutes after ordering at 12:40, changed to take out (friend had to leave), then waited an hour for that, and finally picked up food at 2pm. I imagine that was an exceptionally slow day and my order was big ish around $100 but still ridiculous. Dine in service on other tables was slow too from ordering to getting checks. They have a LOT of pick up orders. Owners were apologetic but also said it's always really busy. Maybe I'm more used to 626 SGV services where you can be in and out within an hour... but this makes me very wary about going back anytime soon. Food - certainly authentic and given how slow it is, I imagine it is fresh made in house (not just steam from frozen). Pieces are huge too. However there are no chives options (韭菜) - they use spinach instead, and this was probably the most chicken I'd expect to see on a dimsum menu - make sense since it is on the west side (catering to non- traditional dim sum eaters). read more
