I stumbled by this Chinese Restaurant on Wilshire Blvd. The atmosphere is friendly cozy and the foods are delicious.. It is fresh and not greasy. It reminded of my Mom cooking.... I ordered BBQ porks, fried rice and walnut shrimps and orange chicken. All portions come huge plates and l was able to have again next day . 1. Ive been looking for an amazing Chinese restaurant on the west side for the past 7 years. I ordered this as a shot in the dark. Because they had my two favorite dishes. I have not found a single good Chinese place and I'm not gonna start listing off places you shouldn't eat at. Because they all are bad... the list would be too long. 2. I ordered it through Postmates, which normally does hinder my reviews. I'm going to say this very lightly. I did not think I would be writing a good review for this food. I am the pickiest person with Chinese because ive had good food.... It needs to be the right amount of greasy/not flooded with MSG/and the price has to be completely aligned with the quality of the service/food 3. I realize that I made a mistake on my order and I had a dietary restriction so I called the restaurant. They were super kind about it. And I received my food within the 30 minute window I was promised. Whether that happened or not that's not their fault. 4. The food was excellent, and this is going to be a place that I continue to order from probably every couple of days. This is now my favorite Chinese place. 5. Best fried rice in the game. Hands down. / best tofu on west side 6. Here comes the cons- prices were 1-2$ different on their app versus the Postmates app. I don't love that even if it's a mistake, you should fix that.... Because there are people that will get upset. One or two dollars isn't gonna change my life so I'll let that slide. 7. The pricing is high but fair. I could get my entire family food for under 100$ and some good leftovers. But 18$ fried rice with no protien is a lot ... anyways. That's the beauty of writing your own business. Of course, as a New Yorker, living on the west side of town, I will give you all a fairly objective opinion ... :) THEIR MOTTO IS FRESH, HEALTHY CHINESE FOOD FOR EVERYONE!! I love this idea and fingers crossed it is true!! And delicious ... Well, overall, wonderful and clean food was delicious and impressive! The mapo tofu was in need of additional spiciness! Easy fix ! The chicken lettuce cups were my favorite dish overall! Shrimp in lobster sauce was good... Mongolian beef was my husband's favorite! It was fabulous on second bite. Hot and sour soup is a winner too! Generous portions and fair prices especially for the quality and quantity of the dishes! Definitely recommend for sure. Tiny little restaurant with excellent pricing. I only tried the kung pao chicken and white rice, which was delicious. I really enjoyed the complimentary hot tea. Unlike most Asian restaurants in the area, the white rice was free and I even got some extra to go. Service was fast and friendly. Service was very friendly; small space inside but food came out fast (we were first to order, We tried too many items and most were solid - a few standouts: Scallion pancake - very light, not overly greasy, we crushed 2 orders. Wonton noodle soup - tasty light broth, big wontons (chicken?) - more noodles than we needed Apps were all good - pan fried chkn dumplings, bbq ribs, har gow, siu mai. Mains - tried Orange chicken, chicken friend rice, chow mifun- again all good, huge portions. Ended with steamed egg custard bun - very fresh and sweet. I really liked the flavor of everything. It completely hits the spot. We had the lunch specials on a Sunday and also grabbed a take out. Very reasonably priced, seating was comfortable and service was great. I want to note especially the Garden Chicken that it was very flavorful with light sauce. It is the kind of food that one feels good eating. Even the sides like the egg drop soup and Jasmine tea was very soothing. The take out was Singapore Curry Mifun, asked for it to be less spicey. Hidden little gem in West L.A. area. The beef in the beef with asparagus is tender and juicy. You know it is fresh off the wok as the plate is still steaming hot. A big punch in the month! So flavourful. The House Fried Rice is also very good. This is one of the dish that gives you the telltale if whether the chef is skilled at the wok. 1) The rice cannot be mushy and the grains cannot be stucked together. 2) Great "breath of the wok". Every scoop of rice must unleashes a puff of flavorful steam that you can smell even before putting anything in your mouth. 3) The flavors of the ingredients need to be balanced and harmonized, yet layered and not like it comes all mixed up with a machine or something. That House Fried Rice passed with colors. Service is excellent, inside is small but clean. I visited Joy Luck a few weeks ago and had a really great experience. The orange chicken was fresh, crispy, and flavorful. The rice was well prepared, in a nice dish, and had enough for my party of 3. The Mongolian beef was onion-heavy but yummy (we like onions so we didn't mind). We also had hot and sour soup which we all enjoyed. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here, and the servings were quite big so we had enough food left over for me to bring to work as lunch the next day. It's great to have a well-priced and delicious Chinese spot in the Westside. Would recommend and return! read more

My family and I were looking for a good Chinese restaurant on the west side and found Joy Luck Kitchen browsing on Yelp. Now I understand the great 5 star reviews. This place is a gem! It's a small restaurant, probably better for takeout. We ordered the French style filet mignon which was out of this world. Singapore style noodle was also good and a little spicy. The black bean chicken with bell peppers was also delicious. So happy to find this wonderful family owned business. The food is amazing and a fraction of the price of the chains of Chinese food. This is our new go to for takeout. Absolutely delicious and great service too! read more

Hard miss. Ordered a few plates for the family dinner. Unfortunately missed the mark like had to throw out 3 plates they were disgusting like the meat they use is terrible quality and tasted off. For the 3 plates that were edible 5s and 6s needed a lot of soy sauce flavorless. I'll come back and try again in a year once they fix the ingredients and menu. Joy Luck Kitchen just opened its doors 2 months ago and it's definitely a hidden gem! Street, metered parking. The small restaurant has about 4 tables for seating. Looks like their main business is take-out. Friendly, attentive service (1 person who did everything except the cooking). Food was 4.5-5/5. Hot & Sour soup (5/5): i'm not a big hot and sour soup fan but this one made me a fan. The perfect spicy level for my taste but might be too spicy for some people who cannot handle the heat. So flavorful and the heat (spicy) level was just right. Roast Duck (5/5): Crispy skin and moist duck meat. Half the duck was more than enough for at least four people or more. BBQ pork fried rice (5/5): perfectly fried rice with lots of barbecue pork chunks. Not oily. Crispy pan fried noodles (4.5): loved the mix of different veggies (broccoli, bok choy, carrots ) and meats (chicken, beef, shrimp) but this dish needed a little bit more salt, it was a bit bland. Jalapeño shrimp (4.5/5): shrimp was moist and it was lightly coated and fried. Wish it was slightly more crunchier. The jalapeño slices added a nice touch. Prices were decent for each entrée item ($15-$28 (duck)). I would come back to Joy Luck Kitchen as this is probably the best Chinese restaurant in the Brentwood/Westside area. read more

Service is second to none. From the moment you walk in the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The food comes out piping hot, it's fresh, flavorful, and in generous portions. The restaurant is spotless, the younger server is by far one of the most polite servers I've ever had, and they are mindful of pricing (we had ordered rice to be told the entrees came with them and waived the rice order). I highly recommend this for either dine in or takeout. It's a quiet and peaceful environment with plenty of selections on the menu. I NEVER leave reviews. This actually is my first on Yelp. We struggle to find good Chinese food in our West LA area. There were about 25 reviews on this place so I thought we should try them. The hot and sour soup was not enjoyable. Moon house has a much better hot and sour soup. The flavor was watered down and antiseptic. The sui mai was fine. The duck was sour. Do not order this. The cashew chicken was bland. I was really hoping for something good but unfortunately I will not order from here again. Another one bites the dust. read more

This newly opened restaurant has a sign "Grand Opening". It is a small shop of about 10 seats. I arrived and there were only 2 people in the shop. The waiter was totally stressed out, but clearly trying hard to keep up !? I guess they had online orders too, because a few people came to pick up (2 or 3, I do not recall exactly). I asked if they had a seafood soup; the respobse was "sorry, no seafood". OK, I ordered the Shrimp and Broccoli lunch combination. It comes with rice, soup, salad and the main dish of shrimp and broccoli. I paid and was asked to sit any where. I sat, and it took a LONG time and no food arrived. I inquired whether I can get the soup, rice and salad, until the main dish is ready. The response was, "I thought you ordered to go?"... I dont know what the difference is, but fairly soon the salad arrived. It was a lettuce mix, but unfortunately it had some pieces that are not fresh. Obviously the lettuce is either not fresh and/or not cleaned well. I left most of it. Then I received the rice, tea, and soup. Fairly tasteless all around. The rice is a cheap form of Jasmine rice, and it had no flavor, and was not cooked enough. It was a generous portion. The soup had an acceptable flavor, but alarmingly had small bits of some black particles that I did remove, and ate some of that soup any way.... I had to eat something! Lastly, the shrimp and broccoli arrived. The medium to small size shrimp were fresh, and the broccoli was fresh, and both were cooked just right, which I liked. But here again, the shrimp and broccoli arrived with pieces of chicken !! I ate most of the shrimp and broccoli, but had to leave some behind because I needed to leave the restaurant in a hurry since they would not let me use their restroom! All in all, an unfortunate experience. But may be they are new at this, so we will see whether they adjust, improve, and remain in business? read more

I was walking to Ralph's and noticed this new little restaurant. Was craving won ton soup. Some of the best I have ever tasted. Dumplings were large and plentiful in a full bodied broth.
