The good, the bad, the odd. If you are used to AYCE buffets, this is different. The food is good. It's mostly middle eastern food. Not too many dishes have olives or feta cheese. Only beef kebab, no chicken or lamb kebabs. Lamb gyro is a bit dry and looks like cut out rubber, but tastes ok. The dessert selection is laughable for an AYCE place. 4 types of cookies and some fruits. No ice cream! Who has AYCE without an ice cream??? The service... what service? There are no waiters to take away your plates. Once in a while a busboy will come by with the cart filled with dirty dishes to clear your plates. That felt odd... The tables have no napkin dispensers. If you want an extra napkin - go schlepp to the end of the buffet where all utensils are. So you are on your own. Ambiance? Well... it's clean and very gray... and family friendly. Lots of kids. Noisy at times. But kids are well behaved. It is certainly different from any other AYCE buffet I've been to. Give it a try. Finally...a family restaurant in on the border of Anaheim Hills and Yorba Linda! Got a chance to visit Dimassi's earlier tonight and I was not disappointed. Great selection of food: salads, hummus, pita bread, chicken, soup, rice, italian, and wonderful desserts. The restaurant is clean, quiet, and cozy. The staff is helpful and always around to take your used dishes. The only thing I can say that needs a little improvement is that some of the dishes are not hot enough. Freshness is never a question: all the items taste like they were prepared and cooked just a few minutes ago. However, the heat lamps need to be turned up a notch because some items are luke warm or just a tad above luke warm. Other than that, I can honestly say that my family and I were very satisfied after our visit to Dimassi's. We're grateful that a family restaurant finally opened in our neck of the woods. We just had the worst experience with this place. We called to reserve to have our small office Christmas party, which we reserved at 3 pm for 12 people. At around 4:15 pm, a lady approached us at our table and notified us that their lunch rate was only good until 4:30 pm and that they would be charging dinner rate at 4:30 pm. We informed her that we were all done consuming the food and could settle the bill, but we asked for a favor to use the space for another 30 minutes to give out the gifts. The lady (Susana) informed us that we could not pay unless all of the people in our party were at the front and exited the restaurant, and if we wanted to stay longer to use the table, she would have to bill us at a different rate because that is their policy. I asked the lady managing the front for the policy that advises customers when paying. All parties in the group must be at the front and exit the place at 4 pm. She only pointed at their rate menu. In addition, they have a disclaimer at the front that states, "There is a 2-hour maximum seating time limit." We got to the place 5 minutes past 3:00 pm; we had only been there for an hour! The front person told us to call the owner and express our concern, which we attempted to do. However, the owner refused to speak to us, and she wouldn't even pick up her phone. However, whenever the lady(Susana) calls, the owner picks up the call. She even told us that all buffet restaurants are the same. "C'mon lady? I can understand if there is a long wait for a table, but the place is EMPTY! Maybe five people were dining then, and their place was huge! There is barely anyone eating at that time. How could you treat customers with that kind of service, especially during this holiday season? You sure will lose business with what you portray today. 1st, we are residents of the area. Our company holds Xmas We could have been your loyal customers yearly, but I would never again come back or recommend this place. If you are looking for where to host your party, I suggest looking somewhere else. There are way far better Mediterranean food places with exemplary customer service. I was really looking forward to trying this place out today. I read in the reviews that it leaned more towards Persian food. It was very, very clean, large and spacious, staff friendly. We went for lunch. As promised there was an abundance of food. We started with the cold dishes which included salads and hummus. We were not disappointed. They offered a wide selection and most everything we tasted was to our liking which included fresh pita and pita chips. Where it fell short for us was the hot foods. We did not taste everything, but the multiple vegetable dishes we tasted were significantly under seasoned. We tasted 4 proteins. The Kafta, Chicken kebabs, fried fish, and meatball. The chicken looked like Joojeh kabab, but had no flavor from saffron, turmeric, orange, lemon, or grated onion. In fact, it tasted heavily of yellow prepared mustard instead. It may have had yogurt in it, but non of the other traditional flavors that I could discern. The Kafta was over cooked and dry and tough with little flavor to it. The fried fish was ok, but again fairly tasteless, and the bottom of the fillet was soggy and greasy. My sister took meatballs, but only took one bite. She said it was dry and tasteless. The rice and vermicelli was under seasoned and bland. The Chinese shrimp fried rice was decent, but would have benefited from soy sauce, which should have been close, if offered. Unfortunately, almost all the hot food options we left on our plates because they just did not taste good. We never tried the desserts. One thing about Mediterranean food, is it should be flavorful. Nothing should be bland with the traditional fresh herbs, lemon juice, yogurt, salt and pepper normally present. Meat dishes made with ground meat are usually tender because they are infused with flavor from grated onion, salt and pepper, then worked by hand until the texture is smooth which results in juicy tenderness. Chicken kebabs are marinated with citrus and yogurt which breaks down the meat so it is succulent if not over cooked. We left disappointed and will not return. $21.99 plus tax is a lot of money for a salad plate and pita bread. read more
