The servers are all very nice and so is the valet. The restaurant has a homey feel, but honestly the food was subpar. It was extremely overpriced for the bad quality and bland taste. I had the spaghetti and the sauce so terrible that even a can of Ragu would've been better. There was also multiple flies flying around me and it was disgusting. Dimora used to be a 5 star restaurant at its prime. Now, to be frank, it sucks and does not even deserve the one star yelp is making me give it. The service and food are terrible and over priced. Definitely not worth the money. The carpaccio was inedible. The meat was of poor quality and was cut and presented poorly. Absolutely terrible. The calamari was ehh. Very mediocre. All of the pasta dishes we got were bland and uninspired. The bread was served cold and the breadsticks were stale. The napkins and tablecloths were stained. Do not waste your money on crap food and bad service. If you are looking for some quality Italian food in the area, I recommend Trattoria Carpaccio in Englewood. It was ruined for me when the after dinner drinks were served by someone wearing laytex gloves, which reeked of bleach. The risotto had the consistency of overcooked oatmeal. My $34 veal chop was good and the best dish at our table of ten. The pastas were grossly over sauced. The restaurant was totally booked and I just had the feeling that they had given up trying to serve well prepared food because, somehow, they were popular. It was telling when the chef came over to our table (always a nice touch) but, when asked, I told him about the risotto and the gloves. If you are a regular you will find the service friendly and efficient. However, if you are an occasional diner you may find a very different story. I have gone with regulars and then just my wife and I. Two very different experiences. The other big problem I have is the "specials", which never change are nearly double the price of the items on the regular menu. This pushes the cost from $$$ to $$$$. The waiters will also read the specials before giving you a menu, and then ask if you still want to see one after reading them out. Average price of entrees on menu is about $28. Average price of the specials is $45 and up. The same is true for he appetizers and pastas. On a Friday or Saturday the place is very crowded and the tables are very close to each other. Pushing the noise level to an uncomfortable level at times. All this being said the food itself is very good, but not better than comparable places in NYC, which are a short 30 minutes away. read more

Seriously, came with a reservation of 9, ended up not having our reservation at all, sticking us in a corner that was extremely hot and right by the kitchen - so we were privy to hearing all the kitchen drama between the staff which by the way works like slow snails. Sorry but there's tons of Italian joints in New Jersey that have good food so having crappy service really turns me off to any restaurant, regardless of the food being good. I had made 8pm reservations for my father's birthday. We a few minutes before 8 and we were told we had to wait because they did not have a table ready. While we were waiting, we saw the host greeting his friends and immediately seating them! After watching this happening 3 times, it was 8:45 and we decided to leave. Why do restaurants take reservations? I believe it is to honor them which is what respectable restaurants do...At Dimora a reservation means nothing. Enduring our one hour and fifteen minute wait was anything but hospitable.There was no where left to sit as the bar which was filled with more people waiting for their reservations.,No one offered us a drink or an apology for our wait or an expected time when we would be seated. The host rushed around frenetically explaining that he was stressed out. REALLY. We were seated at 9:20 and served drinks at 9:45.The service was clearly awful and the food sub par. Not true, the lady that opened the door for us saw it said 12:30 written down. There was a party being held at 3 upstairs and they showed up the same time we did to set up and they were furious that no one was there too. There was no phone call or voicemails left the night before. This is not the first time this has happened when I held my son christening there a year ago I was told the restaurant will be open at 10 to drop the cake off and my party was at 11:30 and doors were not open until 11:15! I was sit setting things up such as decorations and favors as my guests were arriving! I wish my mother listened to me when I told her not to have this party there. read more

This is definitely one of the best places to eat in the closter area! Valet parking greets you and then up the stairs you go to a lively and often full restaurant. Once seated you will be provided with a platter of tasty cheese, salami, and olives in addition to cheesy breadsticks and soft bread. Listen for the specials because they are often your best bets. The seafood here is amazing as are the pasta dishes. Really worth the price here. Make sure To make a reservation as they get full especially on weekends. Also, although many are dressed up, jeans seem acceptable! After looking at nearly seven different locations for a repast, my niece found you in her search and it was the last place we went to. We were now five days away and were quite stressed. Nick met with us and was clearly committed to helping us stay within our budget and put together a menu that was more than we could have asked for. What we loved immediately about Dimaro's is how bright and open the dining room is. Most other places were dark and without natural light but Dimaro's is so lovely. The food was out of this world and we loved every plate brought to the table as did our family. The service was attentive and professional and even the chef came out to check on everything. Wow very disappointed! I waited so long to finally try this restaurant. I use to pass it everyday and the place was packed even during lunch on my way son's camp in closter nj. We road by Wednesday couldn't get in the lot. So went by Thursday got lunch and finally empty. We ordered the scallop and stuffed shrimp appetizer and the clams oreganato. And stone crab so overpriced $36 for 2 pieces of a piece of crab. The lityke complimentary antipasto like appetizer and bread was delicious no butter or olive oil until we where finished then they brought oil. My husband got the oso sambuco (spelling]? I dint eat veal. He aid it was very fatty I'm not sure how it is suppose to taste but he orders that dish elsewhere frequently. I ordered a ceaser salad also with my appetizers it was horrible soggy everything taste like mayo coming thru exec the dip for the crab and the scallops that I sent back they where undercooked amd not broiled or sautéed more like microwave! I dont leave reviews often and been to many of fancy hight end and low end restaurants and after dreaming how great food place would be when we finally get a table and a babysitter it was such a disappointment beyond that! Oh my goodness. Food was plain, service was bad, if there was any service, and the price was high. $80 for lunch for two. We were only customers on Sunday lunch. No wonder. Even the coffee was bad at this, so called, Italian restaurant. It was just bad. Re. the manager's response: You or your staff cannot mistaken us for someone else, because there was NO other customers until we left; and we stayed less than 2 hours to be exact. So I have now been here twice in two weeks. Both times they exceeded my expectations. When you sit they give you a place with olives, cheese, salami, and peppers, as well as bread and olive oil. The waiter came over and shared the specials with us. I had the buffalo mozzerella with roaster peppers and tomatoes which was excellent. The second time I had the stuffed clam, scallop, and shrimp with crab meat. Just as delicious. Both times for the main course I got the scallopini Dimora. Its veal topped with spinach and mozzerella cheese in shrimp sauce. I don't know if it was the shrimp sauce which is sauce and chunks of shrimp which made it amazing, but it was. This was my second time going to Dimora restaurant and I found that the food was spectacular. My only complaint was the rudeness of two of the managers on New Years Eve. I'm a handicapped woman and came out of the bathroom upstairs and was standing there with my cane waiting to hold on to my friend. One of the employees, maybe a manager, a gentleman in a suit, just barely knocked me over in his rush to get the people downstairs, upstairs, for their New Year's Eve dinner. Not only was it him, it was a woman who worked there as well. They both had total disregard for my handicap. While I was trying to get downstairs they let all the people downstairs, upstairs. All I have to say is that they both were lucky that they didn't knock me over or they would have had a gigantic lawsuit on their hands. You do not treat a handicapped person that way. It was obvious that I was handicapped my cane was as clear as day. Having said that I will never go back to that restaurant ever again. read more

We've been here on three occasions and have been pleased by the food. The waitstaff leaves a lot to be desired. On our last visit which was in June 2016, we had lovely salads for appetizers which were crisp with very good dressing. Our main dishes were good but certainly did not warrant the very high prices that we paid. The waiter was quite condescending. The wine prices were well above what we usually pay in very good restaurants. All this to say that while the restaurant is OK, it is not worth the high prices. read more

As soon as you are seated you are greeted with a cold appetizer plate along with bread which was great. The food was good and cooked well, but the reason for the low review was for the price of the food I would have expected something MORE or something about the food to stand out. I ordered a pasta dish with clams, shrimp, and lobster which was good but when it came out it looked like it was sitting in the back for at least 10 minutes before it got to me. Also had the Rack of Lamb which was cooked great but again nothing really special. The absolute best restaurant in NJ. As a matter of fact, I would rather go here than into NYC for a great meal. Literally everything on the menu (or not on the actual menu) is absolutely amazing. Very friendly staff and eager to please. You can tell they take pride in their business. My personal favorites are- spaghetti bolognese,penne vodka, veal parm, and the tomato mozzarella salad. We had selected Dimora based on combination of reviews and it presenting an ideal halfway point between Staten Island and Upper Westchester County NY. We are cousins and spouses that meet up once a month or so for dinner and were looking for a new venue for us to do so. We could not have chosen better! We were way early but welcomed none the less by staff. Our welcomer and waiter ( I apologize if we got name or spelling incorrect ) Ari could not have been more gracious. We really felt comfortably at home immediately. A lovely anti-pasta appeared as did bread, drinks were served and all was well with the world. The food was the best we have had in recent times, cannot say enough how happy we are to have found Dimora's. The combination upscale yet small and friendly works for us. The food itself, I must repeat, was FANTASTIC, and that's from the Italian's amongst us who know. The only downside is a small parking lot necessitating valet parking. I am never happy turning my car over to someone else to drive but a small price to pay for this dining pleasure. Besides we were early enough we snuck in before valet started :) The pricing was acceptable always remembering you get what you pay for. As an added bonus. We stopped on way out to chat briefly with the Manager and let him know how enthusiastic we were about both the food and the service. Finding out one couple came Westchester he advised that they have another restaurant, Primavera, in Croton Falls, NY, not all that far from where we live.
