My friend and I had been driving all day all around Kula and the North Shore and seeing all the sights. We wanted to have a late lunch in Paia but it was a mob scene so we continued on down the road towards our condo in South Kihei after trying at Da Kitchen in Kahului. Another mob. What a pleasant surprise this place is! It is just so perfect and so many ways, it was spic and span clean a wonderful grandma type lady took care of us, and a bunch of locals were there. The food tasted homemade: wonderful egg salad and a potato salad were both dry good. The Maui beer was ice cold and it was just the perfect spot for a late lunch after a long day spent touring. It's worth stopping in just to enjoy a beer and a Pupu and seeing the locals all sitting at the bar and getting along and laughing and talking. read more

The piña colada was good, but the White Russians they're known for were less than stellar. Like, seriously, how do you serve a drink in a tiny, half-full glass, then charge $11 for it. "We use liquid ice cream." Oh, okay. Didn't know that justified it. Also, the bartender was DRY as hell. She wasn't up for conversation, gave no fucks about whether or not we liked our drinks, and cleared away my glass before I was done. The best veggie sandwich I have had. The ingredients are so fresh and every flavour comes through. It's a tomato, avocado, sprouts filled sandwich with some magic sauce. The sauce is mild and does not over power. I cannot believe I'm raving about a veggie sandwich but it was that good. read more

Always wondered what this place was like living here all my life & passing it for years & years. Finally made it in, cute little spot with 1$ Bill's all over the place. Not many seating but good size sports bar. Service was awesome, stoked to watch our Raiders play, & our food was ono, we ordered nachos & club sandwich and well worth it. Careful! Ordered a French Dip which was bland and did not even finish one half. Asked for my "to go" order to be in a bag and the server/owner?? thought I was over reaching for one little sandwich in a bag. Seriously! Got attitude like other reviews mentioned. (should have been a warning!) The French Dip with a container of the Au Jus and a scoop of potato salad was wrapped in saran wrap and it was very wobbly! She finally gave me a HUGE Safeway shopping bag. HUH?? I was seriously worried about the potato salad that came with the "fake" French Beef Dip, so I threw it away. I know sometimes when you stay at a Condo development and they have "local" deli (and you don't want to drink and drive) it looks appealing. It's been there for years and I have a feeling many reviews are by the locals or the owners friends. I have eaten here 4 times since I've been here and have not been disappointed. The chicken wings and potato salad are delicious! My husband loved the nachos and hot dogs. Love this place so much we've eaten there twice in 2 days. Albeit , convenience brought us here the first time because we were staying on the property, we came again for the good food and comfortable atmosphere. Quirky and cute , with little witch decorations and dollar bills covering the walls and ceilings. A few tables and bar seating available, but very cool and comfortable. The portions are large and delicious. First day we had a Reuben and chili dog. The next day we had the special of roast beef with horseradish on grilled sourdough. The Lava Flow is the best on island. I usually get the Reuben, which is amaze balls! But, today I decided to try the roast beef dip. Which was delish!!!!! You get potato salad or macaroni salad.... A huge thank you to Jan who welcomed us in with an immaculately kept bar and the exact personality of a small and quaint Hawaiian lounge I'd expect to see on the island of Kauai (or apparently on Maui). Clearly Maui and her hospitality is alive and well. This little bar clearly has a following of good people from the aina as well as travelers from afar. I ate the daily special sandwich of turkey, bacon, island avocado, onion, tomato and spouts on delicious toasted sourdough with house potato salad and a yummy pickle. My partner ate the potato's skins filled with house chili and topped with cheddar and scallions. You don't find many spots around here that are this clean which makes me feel at home and well taken care of. Dina, the owner, was in and it was clear the regulars adored her. Keep it up Dina's! We can literally walk to you mostly along the beach (Sugar Beach) to get to you. What a dream!!! read more

Had high hopes for this eatery being that it had good reviews on Yelp and was located on property of where we were staying in Kihei. A mistake was made on our order (missing items/additional items not ordered) and after an 8 hour flight, going back to correct the order was the last thing we wanted to do. Needless to say, we did. When we went back there, we were reprimanded by the owner and told we needed to 'prove' what we ordered. She was very rude and accusatory. Having worked in customer service and the restaurant industry, I was astonished by the accusation when the error was theirs. Too bad I saw how the waitress made them... she took ice from where drinking glasses were being kept in, then proceeded to add some sort of milk/cream mixture to a blender, then either a bit of hershey syrup or strawberry syrup. A Kitchy Dive Bar with a sweetheart working behind the bar. Friend staff, and a great place to get take out from if you're staying in Kihei. Their portions are huge for the price. Vacationers from many-a-past-trip have helped to decorate "The Witch's" walls with defaced dollarbills; a fun way to leave your mark on Maui. My wife and I were only able to give this place a single star for its location. We were clearly an annoyance to the waitress simply by showing up so we weren't able to review the food. Maybe she was having a bad day or maybe she's rude all the time. But we read that the sandwiches were really good and we were staying in a condo on the same property. We thought it would be nice to sit on our balcony and watch the sunset with some take out from there. I was so upset when I walked in to see and hear the worker in the kitchen beating her daughter (who looked to be about 11 or 12 years old). The girl was crying hysterically for all of the customers to hear and the employee just kept beating this girl. I walked in and was so disgusted; I turned around and walked out. I would not support an establishment that thinks it's okay for this behavior to occur, especially in a public setting in front of customers (who happen to be tourists who bring in business). This event stuck with me during my whole stay on the island and really had a negative impact on my trip to Maui. read more

Great local place. It's more bar than restaurant. The dollar bills all over the walls and ceilings provide some interesting reading material. Lilani is the best bartender I have ever met in my travels around the world. This was my wife and I first visit to Hawaii during a difficult pandemic time. We have never felt so welcome in a food and bev establishment than we did at Dinas. She was first class in how she treated each and every patron.
