Lilani is the best bartender I have ever met in my travels around the world. This was my wife and I first visit to Hawaii during a difficult pandemic time. Dina's was recommended by our charter boat Captain, Brad. We asked for recommendations, for local places and Dina's was one of the two recommended. We had lunch here and were happy we'd stopped! We had the special of the day, a Mahi-Mahi sandwich which we shared since we were planning on trying the other recommendation for dinner. The sandwich was wonderful, the pasta salad tasty, and the clam chowder actually had clams in it!! So used to clam chowder really being potato soup with clam juice in it -- this was a real treat!! We made several visits to this place in a 5 day period to get different treatment each time from some of the same staff. One night went in had drinks no problem. Next time the same lady insisted on caring us. Then, they say kids are welcome...took kids in (one was a 2 yr old) after being there awhile, they said they child had to be in a chair. Next night we took the same kids in and they said the kids had to have meals in front of them in order to be in there (BOTH nights, just drinks we being ordered). She said it was a "rule" but it wasn't a rule that was mentioned the night before with same circumstances. We walked out....will not spend another dime in there if they want to make up new rules each time we come. And 2 nights were denied the drinks we wanted because the bartender said they were out of the mix and it would be delivered in a couple days. We found out the mix is made by them (pina colada) and they make their own and had plenty, he was being lazy and didn't want to make them!! read more

Little place with a big atmosphere. Nice place to unwind if you're staying at the Sugar Beach Resort and want to get out of your condo for a drink but don't want to go very far. The Mai Tai was tasty. The crowd seemed friendly and relaxed and the bar had a fun vibe. No. Just no. I ordered out the first time I came here. Took a chance on the Rueben..because that's a safe bet, right? I want to say it's hard to mess up the proportions of a Rueben...but they somehow were able to pull it off. Dry, tasteless and with about and inch and a half of sauerkraut. The sad part is I love sauerkraut, but this was even too much for me. Fast forward. My family wants to go back for lunch since it's close to where we are staying. I figure I'll try the French dip, because that's nearly impossible to mess up. So I order a beer and a French dip. Our waitress came to our table 3 times--and I never got my beer. I'm the shy type so I'm not going to complain, so then I just ask for a water instead. Up next is the French dip, which, looks great for $14 sandwich. However--there's no cheese! I had assumed it would come with cheese, melty goodness and all, but I look over the menu again and it's an additional $3. Again, I'm not one to say anything, so I just eat my soggy sandwich in silence (oh...also the baguette bread was definitely just warmed in the micro and not the oven, so it was soggy and not toasty.) I'm still trying to get over why a French dip with added cheese would be $17.00... Also, my fiancé ordered a sandwich and asked for no sauce whatsoever...so the waitress gave him his sandwich with no special sauce--but it still came with mayo. :/ I really want to like Dina's because the location is great, but after seeing everyone around us, this is probably the best for drinks only. Where to start? First, this place is a dive and not the good kind. The food is average at best. I had the croissant and it was dry and tasteless. The wife had a club type sandwich and said it was ok which means not good. It is very overpriced for what they offer. I guess they charge the residents of the area a convenience fee. The service was the worst I've had on the island. The barkeep is the type that makes you feel that you are interrupting her otherwise fine day. This is defiantly an awesome to come and eat cause they have great food with a fun local atmosphere. The potato skins are to die for and their peel and pull shrimp are amazing. What they are known for are their sandwiches. A must have is the clubhouse that is loaded with ham and turkey, lettuce, onion, tomato, swiss and cheddar cheese. I love the dollar bills that people sign and post up throughout the restaurant . Whenever I'm back in Maui I will have to stop on in again. read more

After flying over 5000miles w my hubs as our honeymoon, we were so hungry n this bar was the only thing that was open inside of the condo where we were staying. We ran there after unloading our luggages& when we walked in, everyone said, "hello!"& of course it was kinda awkward for us bc we r New Yorkers n nobody says hello to strangers like that! The bartender must have been over 50years old w missing teeth and all but boy was she the nicest bartender ever& made very good drinks too!!!! As soon as people heard we just had gotten married, people started coming over to us giving us advice and buying us shots!!!!! So we were plastered yet only left the bar feeling soooo loved n spent only over $20!!!! We r def going back there once we have out first baby to show them!!!! I fell in love w Fire Ball shots, Blonde in Bikini & Bog Wave from Longboard( recently found a supermarket that sell Hawaiian beers!! Woot! Woot!) uve got to try their big, I mean big hot dogs!!!! They r sooooo good!!! We kept eating there after sun tanning on the beach and or swimming in the pool which is right in front of the beach, this bar n our condo!!!! Loved everything about Maui, the people, this bar, the condo, scenery!!! We became so close to one of their regulars that he even offered to take us on a helicopter ride to view all the islands of Hawaii!!! Honestly, I only gave this place stars because the service was super friendly. Wish the food was as good. How you can mess up a grilled cheese is beyond me but both mine and my daughter's were barely toasted and had a glob of mayonnaise inside with cheese that tasted like it was months old. My son ordered the soup and he is an avid soup eater and he had a couple spoonfuls and couldn't stomach anymore and the rest of us couldn't stomach the smell of it either. This little bar is part of the Sugar Beach Resort. We discovered it because we did not want to drive with a hurricane predicted.The sandwiches and sides were good, on the high side (but not for Maui). This restaurant gets 5 stars on the fun ambiance and great drinks. (G and T $4.25, Margarita $4.75) Everyone spoke to us and made us feel very welcome. We went back and met people to hang out with the rest of the vacation. BTW we are not "bar' type regulars so it was unlike us to enjoy a bar, that's how friendly everyone was. read more

They have a variety of sandwiches (as you would expect from the name), some appetizers, and a variety of foofy drinks and beers. The place is more of a bar than a restaurant, and the crowd on this particular Saturday afternoon was mostly older midwestern sunbird types. The drinks were pretty good and strong.
