This place was cool. My kids love dinosaurs and being able to walk around and spot some were cool. I wish I would have known that you can have brought your own food and whatnot. I much have rather have had the store at the end but I get it. Not a big set up. My kid saw all these toys before even seeing the Dino park and was more interested in that. I will NEVER come to this place again. I decided to travel from San Antonio to Austin specifically to take my family to Dinosaur Park to have a good time and boy was I in for a rude awakening. When we walked into the main building we were told that if we were to go off of the path, there may be snakes and/or poison oak etc. Nobody ever said anything about it being off limits wherever there isn't a fence and so we felt responsible for ourselves. They made it seem like "you can if you want, it's fine, but it's entirely up to you" sort of thing. I specifically asked at the front desk. Anyhow, at one particular part towards the end of the trail, there was a dinosaur statue and around the corner there was no rail, so my child wanted to go up close to see it. I went with him to see it for a few seconds too. A man comes up on a bike who later claims to be the owner of the place. He was the RUDEST person I've ever met in my life and I have no idea how he runs a business. He shouted "YOU CAN'T BE OVER THERE!" "CAN'T YOU SEE THE SIGNS?!" "NO! NO! NO!" "THAT'S WHAT THE SIGNS ARE THERE FOR!" Mind you, there was no damn sign anywhere in the area. The signs tell people not to touch the statues, not to be near them. So what the heck was he talking about. It was so dramatic and loud that I literally feared that he would attack us and try to harm us physically. He kept on making angry facial expressions and using threatening body language. He then rode off with his bike. Then, after we get on the main path and were thinking "screw this place, let's leave," he decides to come back and says, "did you have something you want to say?!" in a loud and threatening manner, getting super close to my entire family, once again. I felt even more threatened. I told him he was harassing us at this point because he looked as though he was ready to fight. I was about ready to call the police. He then tries to apologize, tells us he quote: "is not a people person." We told him we left San Antonio to get away because we've gone to places in the past and have been treated rudely and he said, and I quote: "I'm one of those rude people." He tries referring to me as "son" because he was in the military (which he kept mentioning; who cares? What does it have to do with me?), then goes, "oh I'm sorry, not son." He asked me if I spoke Spanish as if it makes a difference. He kept complaining about his insurance and how people suck, etc. This guy was absolute disaster and did a poor and horrible job of apologizing. We told him he ruined our entire day, that we'd NEVER come back, and we'd NEVER feel comfortable recommending this place to others. I feel sorry for whoever has to run into/come across this man. If this is how he treats strangers I can only imagine how he treats people he knows. Spending over $32 for this? I think not. NEVER AGAIN. read more

We keeping coming back to this fun place, and this year my 4 yr old wanted his bday here (in August!). Lucky for us, they opened a new party room. We did a two hour block, but 3 would have given everyone a little more time for the trail and partying. The room comes with some decorations, four tables for seating, a long food table, a cake table, and shelves for the gifts. There are dinos that the kids can climb on. Also, there is a convenient bathroom. The staff was very nice and helpful with decorating and cleaning up. Two thumb claws up! read more

Such a fun time for my littles! Took our youngest for his 4th birthday. Even going on a Saturday and memorial weekend it wasn't unbearably crowded. GREAT collection of Dino paraphernalia in the gift shop. My older two (ages 6 and 9) had fun because the littlest was loving it and the "I spy" was fun to keep them engaged. Just the right amount of time and length for little legs. It would be really cool if they could add some Dino noises throughout the trail. We packed a lunch and picnicked there while the kids played in the big open playground space. Will definitely bring my little guy back with some of his friends. read more

I'm not one to post bad reviews or experiences about business but I can't let this one go. About a week ago I decided to take a personal day off from work and spend the day off with my son (single mom). I saw an ad on FB about the Dinosaur Park in Bastrop and decide to pack a lunch and take my 2 year old . My son seemed to have such a good time that I decided we would throw his 3 year birthday party there. While I was busy paying the deposit and reserving his birthday with the staff my son picked up a toy dinosaur off the shelf and the sticker price tag fell off before I could take it away from him. The owner was rude and started lecturing my two year old about touching the merchandise ( room full of toys). Fast forward a week later I made his invitations told all his friends parents (15) kids about his birthday. Today I received a call that the owner and staff where returning my deposit and canceling my sons 3 year old birthday because they decided that we should have his birthday somewhere else because he touched a toy dinosaur and the price tag fell off. This small business lost not only a customer but a birthday party worth over $100 and exposure ( over 20 parents) for cheap plastic toy from china. These owners have zero customer service skills and even worse business sense. Needless to say I am upset and disgusted by them. These people don't deserve your business. read more

My family had a great time here. My son is 10 and this was absolutely perfect for him and us! We learned about dinosaurs and had fun in the process. Besides cool replicas, photo opportunities and fun facts, there is a "fossil dig" for kids and adults-yes I helped-dig for "fossils". They have picnic tables in the shade and in the sun, great for snacks or lunch. They allow you to bring in food and drinks-no alcohol. No charge for a cooler or parking. I had low expectations going into this place, but went because one of my kids loves dinosaurs. I actually found it to be quite nice. The plaques with descriptions were informative, but not too science-y or long and I actually learned some stuff (which I have now forgotten =p). There were a decent number of photo op places (three dinosaurs with saddles the kids could sit in, a huge sign with the cutout for your faces, a dinosaur mouth, and a cute dinosaur egg to sit in). In the courtyard area where the trail begins and ends, there is a playground kids can play in. We brought a picnic lunch which we ate and then played afterwards. The gift shop is not overly expensive and we were able to pick up a few cute things. And for those wondering, they do enforce masks indoors even after the mandatory state mask mandate was lifted. read more

A very nice place to take an afternoon walk and learn about dinosaurs! It's a bit off the beaten path, but my toddler loved it. The trail was even enough to push a stroller easily, and a different dinosaur replica stood around every bend. The scavenger hunt list was interesting and the fossil dig and playscape by the gift shop was a bonus. Nice array of picnic tables as well. Everything was clean and well maintained. I read some of the reviews about the place being dirty. I'm guessing that was a bad day or management has changed since that day. The place was clean and well maintained. The dinosaurs are amazing. My favorite was the triceratops! I bought the groupon for $8.00 and admitted 2 people. It was worth the money. We ended up spending about 55 minutes there and got lots of great pictures. I'm glad I found the groupon because I would have never known the place existed. It's really neat, even for us grown ups. read more

Awesome place to take kids! They do have 2 pavilions for birthday parties too. The trail of dinosaurs is educational and fun. The kids liked the scavenger hunt and we're able to find most of the items on it. The fossil dig and playground are great for them to expend more energy playing. Sadly their briachosaurus broke on 4/30/16 when they were hit by a storm with high winds. Even with the downed dinosaur there's still plenty to see. read more

Dinosaur Park was amazing I took my 6 year old nephew here and he loved it. Had a ton of shade but I recommend to bring some water and an ice chest filled with lunch! Has a picnic area for you to eat your food with a playground as well. It was a great trail with tons of shade. The trail was pretty long and worth the price which was not expensive at all. We went to the dinosaur park on the morning of 4th of July. We had the entire place to ourselves :) we had so much fun!! Our preschooler LOVED it!! I think she liked the scavenger hunt the best. The office gives you a little scavenger hunt if you'd like to play along. The playground was awesome! Water misters all over the playground helped keep our little one cool in the heat. We took our own lunches and had a nice picnic at their picnic tables. Prices weren't bad either. Our four and five year old girls LOVED this park. The trail is really nice, through a wooded area, and the dinosaurs are fun to spot. The walk also includes a scavenger hunt that you pick up on the way in and put back on the way out. There are informative signs for every dinosaur that are actually interesting. It feels like an outdoor museum. And then at the end of the hike, there is a dinosaur-themed playground and dino-dig that the kids really enjoyed. I am very glad we stopped in and would recommend this to any family of kids about ages 3 to 8. Any older than that would probably find it a little babyish and lame. read more

I took my 6 and 2.5 year old sons here. They had a great time. The park is the perfect size for kids. It was about half a mile through the park. My boys loved seeing all the different dinosaurs and looking for clues on the little scavenger hunt. At the end of the trail they had fun playing on the playscape and digging for fossils. My 3yr old son had a blast at the park, we enjoyed it as well. We were brought to the park by Groupon. But at $7 a ticket, I will go without a Groupon. Since the most expensive part of our visit is at the car ride. We had to travel almost 2 hours each way. But it is well worth it, we will go back again. The trail is nice shaded, I love the shade, but the pictures didn't turn out nice. Oh well..... The park was not crowded, we saw few families. We just walk slow and let them pass us, so we can enjoy the dinosaur all by ourselves. My son was screaming and jumping when he saw those live size dinosaurs. It was fun to see his reaction, smiley face and of course the long nap on car ride back. We also enjoyed the park and Dino dig at the end of the trail. The boy doesn't want to leave. The people works at the park are very nice. And the gift shop is reasonable priced, with a few expensive but very nice detailed dinosaur toys. But my son like quantity over quality (we told him he can only pick one toy, any one but just one) he picked a box with two dinosaurs and a tree, costing me only $12 with tax. read more

This is one of my son's favorite places to play and is age appropriate for 3-7 or so. Basically, a short hiking trail in the Cedars with about two dozen life size "static" dinosaurs plus a park like play area. A couple of the replicas are quite large - Brontosaurus/Brachiosaurus and Tyrannosaurus Rex. It is a bit difficult to find, hidden away behind a mobile home part, but there is a large sign along the road, marking where to pull off. read more
