Not sure if it's this location or what we ordered, but I enjoyed this Dion's experience a lot more than the other one I'd been to. We went simple with a couple 2-topping pies (sausage and pineapple, sausage and mushroom) to go, and other than a little snafu (they only had 1 pizza made when we went to pick up the order), it was a smooth process from order to pickup. Tonight I went to Dion's for the first time since I moved to ABQ two months ago. I showed up at the restaurant and ordered my pizza to go. I was told I had to wait 20 minutes which was fine by me, I really wanted to try pizza from this place. I paid for my pizza and after the waiting time my order wasn't ready so asked if something happened and turns out they had no idea what I ordered. The guy at the register tried to be nice and told me it was gonna be just 2 more minutes, but I feel they lost my order and had to start doing it again or something because I ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes! It wasn't a busy night, I've seen longer lines and more people at the restaurant other days I've driven by the place. I was very hungry and I had been craving pizza from here for a while, that's why this was a little bit frustrating. I tried the 505 pizza which has green Chile and pepperoni and it was good, it is really a nice pizza place. Dion's so good! This was my first time visiting the Academy location and it was awesome. We were nearby and decided to take a little visits. Catching up with an old friend at Dion's is perfect. We ordered right away and the cashier was super kind and fast. Our food was ready in about 20min. We ordered a slice of cheese pizza for my friends daughter and she scarfed it down. Kids love cheese pizza. My friend ordered the chef ranch salad and I ordered the turkey and swiss sub sandwich with a fruit cup, and a side of their amazing green chile ranch! The pizza was fresh and delicious, the salad was big and tasty, and my sub was toasted perfectly and very scrumptious. The drinks are also so refreshing I always order a Arnold Palmer, made with Dion's signature lemonade and sweet tea. Dion's is my favorite pizza in Albuquerque. I'm originally from Chicago, although it's not chicago style pizza, it's a good pizza. No matter how busy they are they are consistent (20 mins for pizza) and the counter staff is always incredibly friendly. My only gripe is...why can't the Pizza ever be cut even or all the way thru? If you love all the toppings, get the dion special. They also have specialty pizza...bbq with chicken is awesome, so is the Albuquerque turkey (green chili and turkey with cheddar cheese) so good. They have delicious ranch dressing for salad or dipping the pizza crust. If you dine in, there is a viewing place for kids (and adults alike) to watch the Pizza production. This is comfort food, people. Drape it in whatever finery you want, nobody-and I mean nobody-should shell out that kind of cash for the culinary pinnacle of the five year-old palate. With a bevy of locations under their belt, Dion's currently bucks the high dollar trend. Six inch sammies run less than six bucks and ten inchers less than eight. Pizzas are totally fair, between $13-$18. I'm a big fan of the salads and a filling bowl will run less than six bones, while the family size (feeds three or four, easy) goes about nine. Ultimately, a family can fill up for about $25 save the extras like soda or cookies. We don't do the extras, and we're thrilled with the value. Compare this with a local chain I'm thinking of (I'll give ya two hints: Flying and Star) where you'll easily drop $40. No, it ain't organic or locally sourced. You're paying the salaries of teenagers which means you might be the unwitting sponsor of a house party. You'll have to schlepp the eats to your table, no problemo on my part, ya gotta work off that pizza crust somehow. On weekends, the line can stretch a long ways, here, but you won't wait long. I live right down the street from this location, so we often find ourselves here after taking a nice stroll down Academy. The pizza, subs, and garlic bread are all very good. My personal favorite is their gourmet pizza, the margherita, which is a 10" personal pizza, although me & my daughter often split it. This location serves Coke Zero, but other locations do not. The pizza (in my opinion) tends to run a bit dry, so I always ask for extra sauce on every pizza I order. I wish they offered breadsticks! I'm more of a breadstick-kind-of-girl rather than garlic bread. But, overall this is quality pizza people. It is so far my favorite in Albuquerque and easily beats all of the chain restaurants (Pizza Hut, Dominos, Little Caesars, etc). read more

As a child one firsts gets introduced to Dions through a field trip. You get to see the exciting backstage of the pizza making business, eat free pizza and get a souvenir t shirt. I can't remember a time when I've been unhappy with an order. They have fresh ingredients and very tasty pizza, salads and subs, also a nice selection of drinks and just a pitter of desserts. But I would have to say the BEST thing about dions is the ranch dressing and I'm sure if you know anyone who has been to dions they would agree. If they offered it in a shot glasses I'd have to admit I'd at least have to try one. Prices are fair and considering its mostly ran by the youngins the service is great. Academy and Wyoming location What can I say? It's Dion's. Good pizza, good salad, Ranch dressing to die for. We had a large group and found seating all together in the back. Unfortunately, it was hotter than Hades back there and the sun was blazing through the windows. Some windows had shades that literally did nothing but prevent a tiny amount of glare from the sun. I could feel the tiniest breeze from the air conditioner, but it was like having a pocket fan on the sun. I guess at least it kept my pizza warm? And my ranch dressing. read more
