I have been coming to ABQ a lot the last 5 years and have been told to give this place a shot! Well today is the day and it didn't disappoint! We got the Medium 505 with 2 drinks and for $24 to us was a great deal. The pizza cutter cut it wrong but who cares haha. Not sure why so many people complain about the price here but go to Jets Pizza and this is an easy $35. The 505 had great flavor, and cooked well. The service was prompt and friendly. There are just some things in life you can count on. I've been eating Dion's Pizza since 1996 the first time I moved to ABQ. No matter which location, the food is always consistent. I don't get to New Mexico near enough anymore but this week was a lucky one. While I've been blessed to eat in some fabulous restaurants in my life, a trip to Dion's is always a treat for me. This location did not disappoint, same great service with a bunch of smiling faces and a slice with a half Greek salad tasting exactly as the 100s before. I am giving a 1 star for my order today, in my order I only got one thing right the salad. I order a large pepperoni light cheese and extra sauce with green chilli and I get a pizza with extra cheese and no pepperoni!! my garlic toast, I order it with no sauce no cheese and I get it with cheese I am glad I did check the garlic toast before I left the restaurant a manager fix the garlic toast for me (thank you), I didn't check the pizza, I get home and the pizza is not what I order!! We've been coming to this Dion's for about four years now and have never seen anything like that. I also read that the reviewer said they were scared, which let me know they probably didn't actually come to this location. If you know us, then you know my kids and their love for pizza. And we for sure will always end up in some kind of pizza place. This place is pretty great, the wait wasn't long and yet you could see them making everything fresh. The salad is for multiple people, so it's really big in a huge bowl. Usually one of my go to's while in the area. Today was particularly different in that service was super slow for not many people being in the establishment. Drive through was busy but with the amount of staff working. Made me wonder!! Not once did I get acknowledgment "we'll be right with you". Stood at register for what felt like 5 minutes before they acknowledged me standing there. Took 3 workers to actually see who was going to help me. Pizza is good. Salads are good. The fact that there's no coupons or specials ever means I won't eat here when I want pizza. After having been to 7 out of 11 Albuquerque Dion's locations, the home office, and 1 Rio Rancho location, I thought it would be appropriate to write more... This location is a perfect place to meet a friend for lunch or get takeout for your office. I love the cheese toast (and usually add green chile and bacon on top). I was a little disappointed with my last encounter. Prices have gone up recently to the point that 4 large pizzas and 2 salads weren't even covered by a $50 gift card. (The salad size has also decreased). I think it was a great idea to add bacon bits to the chef, but what happened to the croutons? Also, kalamata olives on the Greek instead of black olives? No one really likes kalamata, but it's just one of those things you eat anyways. The new green chile ranch is good, but the chile flavor overwhelms the ranch just a tad. Other than that, the 505 pizza (aka green chile and pepperoni) is always a classic and sure goes quickly! read more

2 pizzas, one Santorini, instead of sun dried tomatoes, they used fresh sliced tomatoes, so wet running. Tuscany pizza has artichokes also wet and running. Drive through both pizzas were cold, had to be sitting on counter a long time. Go somewhere else. Even Little Ceasars is better, and I don't eat there. read more

It's our first time ordering from this location and we did so with a special order on a Saturday night. That always has the potential to be a disaster but these guys handled it like a pro! My father-in-law has recently developed a sensitivity to tomato and Dion's told us he could still have their pizza but with pesto sauce instead of marinara. He was thrilled to get Dion's pizza again so of course we had to order some pizza and garlic bread to go with the football playoffs! They were very busy when we went to pick up our call ahead order but everyone was working with a smile and moving as fast as they could. They were very kind to everyone and were totally professional. This young boy walked up and gave her an empty pitcher, was very nice and said, "Miss, her is our empty pitcher, she almost yelled at him telling him she was busy. This location has been going downhill lately. I used to love coming here and ate here often, but the quality and customer service has been lacking. Today I ate here with a friend. He ordered a meatball sub. The meatballs were ice cold, like they just loaded sauce on frozen meatballs. He brought it back and the staff argued with him. Delicious, doesn't skimp on toppings. Hatch green Chile was spicy but very flavorful.

A local told me to check this chain out. We had three slices and a salad. The salad is made with iceberg lettuce and had chopped onion, cucumber and tomato on it. I had mine with Greek vinaigrette dressing. Dressings are not fresh, they come in an individual container. I had pizza with Italian sausage (not sliced) and green chilies. It came heavy with the toppings, but they should have cooked it longer with the toppings on it. The ham and pineapple needed to be cooked longer too. Slices are good sizes for the price. You order at the counter and they call your name to pick it up. You may watch the pizza maker do it magic. You go up to the counter to get drink refills. Restaurant is nice inside and large. They have tables and booths. Overall, a nice family style restaurant for pizza, subs, and salads. Food wasn't out of this world, but it was good for the price. read more

Verdict: You're still great but bring back the Koolsla! There's quite the following and fan base for this local chain. It was a big deal when Dion's didn't have their ranch dressing for a short time. They also had a lot of excited transplants when a Dion's opened in Denver. A pizza and sub shop isn't anything new. Dion's beats out the competition by offering a little extra for options (e.g. good/big salads), cleanliness, and consistent quality. I've had Dion's subs, salads, and pizzas in a number of occasions and combinations at this location. All were good and I never had to worry about something coming out incorrect or less tasty than usual. Recommend the Duke City for the pizza, the turkey or the pastrami on wheat for the sub, and pretty much any salad. Never was a dressing guy but people rave about the ranch. Sadly, they discontinued the coleslaw (Koolsla), which was unique and a great side too the subs. The fruit cups are a nice alternative. read more

I like the food at Dion's but this last time the service was the worst I have ever had. I had ordered online so it would not require me to wait. I got there and there were 8 cars in the drive up so I parked and went in. I went up to the pick up window since it was paid for. The person there said I can't help you and you need to go to that line. What was even more odd was that an assistant manager was standing next to her and did not even apologize for her being rude. I stepped back to wait and around the corner comes another manager and asks to help me. He went back and got my food and I was off. I always appreciate good customer service. Full Disclosure: Dion's reached out to me after my last review, and offered a large, 4-topping pizza on the house. When I arrived and placed my order, the shift manager made sure to correct any inconsistencies from my last experience. As expected, the pizza came out within 15 minutes of placing our order, without any grease under the crust, and a generous heaping of toppings, unlike before. I tried their bacon this time, and it's definitely good. None of that "bacon bits" nonsense you may see on most other fast-food style pizzas. read more

I gave Dion's another try after they contacted me regarding my bad experience. They were very apologetic, profesional, and sincere. Much respect. I tried another gourmet pizza (The Napoli) which was hot, fresh, cheesey and the sauce had a nice taste. It was a bit too greasy, to be honest. But hey, I think that might appeal to some. Nothing a few extra napkins can't fix. I was still afraid to try the Duke City again. The absence of any kind of sauce for the pizzas ingredients made me think that even when made correctly it still might be too dry. Maybe one day I'll get the courage to give it another go. I recently found myself going to Dion's a lot more often nowadays and it's because of one thing- The roast beef and provolone sandwich. Normally I'm not much of a sandwich guy but the aforementioned sandwich hits the spot. I get mine minus tomatoes, onions and mayo but I add green chile. Side note, green chile on anything makes everything better. Pair that with the Greek dressing and you have a fantastic sandwich. I don't know about you but Dion's Greek Dressing is addicting, at least to me. That stuff is like a fine wine. I could drink that stuff with a side of water and be good! Great on pepperoni pizza, just saying. The Pizza is just ok for me, kind of greasy. Greasy pizza is unappealing sometimes. The Greek salad is good, fresh and probably one of the better salads I've had. Dion's is a great quick fix place to go and they are always consistent, which is important. read more

I have fond memories of lunches at dions with coworkers from over a decade ago. I specifically remember how good their pizzas were. So on my recent visit to Albuquerque, I had to go back to enjoy those fond memories again. Well the pizza was a bit disappointing. I'm not sure if maybe it changed over the years or maybe my tastes have changed, but I did not enjoy the pizza as much as I had hoped. The crust has harder than I think it should have been. The flavor was good though. The main issue I had though was that it was 20 minutes for them to make a 10 inch pizza at 8pm on a Monday. With all the fast casual pizza places that can pump out pizzas in less than 10 minutes, I'm surprised that dions thinks they can get away with this. I still like dions, so I'll be back, but I think I'll order something else next time. read more
