Very lively and beautiful restaurant. Valet parking available. Reservations highly recommended. Once seated you will notice the liquor cart. One can order drinks and shots from them. Unique experience. The prices are decent for the area and ambiance. For starters we shared their shrimp plate. Very good. Well cooked and perfectly seasoned. Also tried their salsa platter. A must try. For dinner I tried their chicken al pastor skewers. The chicken could have been cooked more but the beans and rice were good. Also tried their seafood enchiladas. Slow, unprofessional, lousy & unsanitary service for mediocre and overpriced Mexican food. First was greeted by a host who was asked to wait on us, guess they were short staffed. He made sure to let us know he was no waiter and boy did he prove it. Second, we told him it was our first time there and he didn't disclose the happy hour menu nor recommend anything at all; we found out later after ordering. He invested his time & overall attention with a bigger party and rarely came by to tend to us. We had to ask another server for service. Shortly after, we found a fake eyelash on our table, the owner/manager happened to pass by at that moment, he grabbed it with a tissue, but didn't bother to sanitize the table nor apologize, he just walked away and never came back nor offer us anything for the disgusting experience. We debated in walking out, our food (appetizers & entrées) took forever to arrive, but it was too late and my company had driven from afar to meet there. We we're celebrating a special occasion and didn't want to ruin the rest of the evening. The ambiance is mostly for all the social media-lites' photos, but that's about it. Sufficed to say, I don't recommend this place unless you want mediocre and unsanitary service, overpriced food & drinks, and be ignored most of your dining experience; especially, if you're just a party of two. I should've read all the reviews beforehand. You live and learn! I came here with my wife mid day on a weekday. This is a Beautiful restaurant. I mean next level beauty. Service was nice but the waitress's outfit didn't match the restaurant's elegance. That's an easy fix. She probably should've covered up a little more. However, our food was a disappointment. Both our meals were not up to par with the beautiful ambience and prices for this restaurant. Neither meal was tasty, to the point my wife barely touched her chilaquiles and left it. I was disappointed with my enchiladas but unlike my wife, I ate my food. It wasn't tasty but not bad either. Just did not meet my expectations from any Mexican restaurant much less one as pretty as this one. Ambience 5 stars. Service 4 stars. Food 1 star. Had dinner last night because my friend wanted to try this place. The minute I walked in the music was really loud. So I knew having a conversation would require speaking loudly to hear each other. Noticed that there were people in hoodies and jeans while other people were dressed like they were going to a club. We were seated at a table at the bar area. First off I noticed that there are girls pushing around alcohol carts stopping at tables offering drinks. Then there was a guy with several flower bouquets who also seemed to be walking around. Didn't seem to match the "upscale" vibe. There are also a lot of employees also walking around. At one point the girls with the carts got stuck around us along with some other employees. There was just a lot going on. The drinks are on the pricier end. I ordered a Frida's Garden. My drink was literally all ice. I basically paid for a glass of ice as it was almost to the top with ice and hardly any drink. I literally finished it in 3 sips. That was pretty disappointing for the price. We ordered a Queso Fundido to "share." For $18 it was tiny and it came with mini tortillas. I was shocked at how tiny it was. I ordered the Pollo Al Pastor, which is basically 2 chicken kabobs on green rice, some pineapple slices, 4 tiny pieces of cauliflower florets, black beans and some weird ketchup tasting salsa or sauce. The chicken was bland and it didn't taste like Al Pastor by any means. My friends plate took longer to come out as they ended up handing it to another table instead and had to make it again for her, per the waitress. Our waitress stopped by our table several times and at no point offered to refill my water. Overall the decor is beautiful. The entire experience was meh and underwhelming. The food and drinks are definitely overpriced for what it is and for being in the city of Downey. read more

2 Full STARS for the beautiful décor & ambience. Went in on a Monday night. The wine did not taste fresh, the drinks were watered down and way over priced. Appetizers & Dinner presentation looked nice but the food was mediocre. $130.00 for pasta and bread (shareable item) was not worth it. The food isn't all what it is hyped up to be. My partner and I mentioned it was my Birthday twice to our server, no acknowledgment, no offer of dessert recommendations. Being a brand new business, if someone makes a reservation, take the time to acknowledge the occasion ( this creates a conversation starter between the server & their guest, as well as provides an opportunity to upsell more menu items) GIRL PUSHING A BAR CART - NOT THE BUSINESS I think the concept was tacky. A young looking girl pushing a bar cart kept offering us "customized drinks" that were "better & stronger then the bars" and also mentioned that the bartenders at the bar "can't modify drinks like she could" I think it was a bad look in general and reminded me of a cocktail waitress in a casino shouting out "cocktails" ...I appreciate the "hustle" but def not necessary. This place was so much fun! It's an entire vibe if you're looking for a good time out. The music is loud enough to feel like you're at a lounge (gets progressively louder as the night goes on) but the atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a fun sophisticated upscale scene. Celebrated by birthday at Diosa and overall had a good experience with a couple of notable exceptions. First, the restaurant is stunning and definitely a scene. They've put a lot into the aesthetics and the details. They just need to step up the service. My complaints are these: Our server mistakenly brought out two drinks (I had ordered one), neither of which were made correctly. But I had waited quite a while at that point and said just forget it I will keep one of the incorrectly-made drinks. He told me to just keep them both and he wouldn't charge me for one of them. Fine. After we left, though, in looking at our bill we were, in fact, charged for both drinks. Should have caught it earlier, but then again...in my opinion neither drink should have been on the bill. The biggest shocker, though, and something we did notice before we left...they charged a surcharge for 'rising costs' which is a little ridiculous since they just opened and had the opportunity to set their menu prices appropriately and not to mention that their prices are definitely not cheap...but they also charged $2 for an ice cube. Yes...$2 for a large ice cube for my husband's drink. We approached a manager on our way out the door and he didn't even believe it at first but then looked at our bill and said he wasn't even aware that was a thing to charge for in their system. He was very nice, by the way, and said he would look into it and gave us his card for the next time we come in. This place has potential and is a great addition to the Downey restaurant scene...but if they keep up with the crazy prices and, in my opinion, gouging, they're going to lose repeat guests, especially if the level of service doesn't match the prices being charged. This place was such a let down. My wife and I were excited about this place but everything about our experience was bad . 1) bartenders did not know their cocktails . I asked for their smoked old fashion, the bartender did not know how to smoke it so she said they're not doing it smoked anymore as I'm lookin at the couple across the bar getting a smoked old fashioned. She wasn't attentive I had to tell her as she was walking by that we were ready to order . She also didn't know what the drinks were or what they were called. Never brought us water until we asked for them . Food took for ever to come and when it came it came all at once. Appetizers and main course. 3) food in general wasn't very good . It wasn't horrible but definitely not amazing. We decided to try this new place out. Seeing reviews and photos looked intriguing, especially because it's in our area. We were a party of 6, made reservations for 6pm. At first sight, it looked so fancy, definitely a high-end feel. They have a doorman who greets and lets you in. He was professional and polite. We were there 5 mins prior to our reservation, and I gotta say FRONT DESK gave a pretty snotty attitude. FRONT DESK didn't feel welcoming to any of us. Especially for us being first-timers in the restaurant. We definitely lived for the decor and ambiance. It was beautiful. We were walked to our table around 6:45 pm, almost 7. We were rushing to make sure we were there on time! And to be led to our 6pm reservation table 45 mins to an hour later really sucked!! I gotta say it wasn't looking so good for us to stay. We were tempted to leave. However, THE MANAGER that night, as he walked us to our table, was super professional, informative, and really welcoming!!! He was the reason we gave it a shot to stay. He was attentive to us and our questions and really explained the concept of the restaurant very well. He even checked on us from time to time. Our waiter was amazing!! Although the drinks were taking some time, the drinks were delicious!!! Except for the one drink that I didn't like. The food was AWESOME, so good!!! Everything had great flavor and perfect seasoning!! Personally, I've had better Paella, the whole dish tasted bland. We had great drinks, food, great conversations, and laughs. We definitely created a group memory here. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and didn't regret staying and trying out the place. We talked about coming back again in future time. Went here for valentines day. They kept missing our order and kept bringing us the wrong items. I think the entire team was confused and didnt know how to handle a busy day. The tables are too close to each other. The vibe is nice but the food and drinks are waaayy over priced for their quality. The service was nice, our hostess was actually filling in for our server who ended up showing late for his shift. But our hostess was super nice and was trying to help everywhere with everything. This place is a hidden gem... totally unexpected from the beautiful chandeliers, decor to the glassware, I was impressed! The drinks and food were delicious and the staff was great, we even spoke with the manager about possibly having an event here. I should have listened to the reviews, but my husband and I wanted to judge this place for ourselves. My husband and I are foodies and always love to try out new restaurants especially when they are local. Unfortunately, I also agree with all of the low rated reviews. 2 starts for the service and the ambience are which are very good! However, the food is way over priced. I don't mind spending when it comes to a good food however, when they have no flavor everything seems over priced. We ordered the seafood paella, the chicken Al Pastor and the steak ribeye, and unfortunately all three dishes were lacking in flavor. The drinks were decent and standard price for a drink at a bar. This is a temporary review. It's Saturday night 7pm when we decide to have some cocktails. We decide we would try Diosa. Knowing it would probably be packed on a weekend we call in advance to see if bar walk ins are accepted. We were told bar walk ins are accepted. We arrive 8pm and are told we are not allowed to be seated because there are no walk ins. Front desk has no idea what to say about the miscommunication. Manager is "not able to speak with us" so we head over to Xecra in the Downey Landing. I will give them another chance by making reservations. Hope they can fix miscommunication with the front staff until then will be giving a 1 star read more

I had empanadas this day, my sister had a carnita that was just ok for $10 for 1. 2 for $10 would be better especially for Goddess hour. I have tried many dishes during my many visits. The drinks are good as well depending on the bartender of course. $14 for mimosa during Goddess hour sounds a bit much for this hour, and I didn't see the price on the menu. I like the margarita flight I had during my October visit!!! GODDESS HOUR is a nice name for happy hour here...... I did not get an itemized receipt. I prefer a itemized receipt because restaurants (elsewhere) are adding charges like health insurance to our receipts. Be Mindful!! Nice people. Food was good, some items I thought were over priced for taste but was overall good food. Ahi tuna was too spicy but i am sensitive, the corn was really delicious with the chipotle sauce, steak Caesar was okay. Steak empanadas were pretty good. Ice-cream sundae was huge, definitely for 4-7 people lol. DIOSA is the best thing to happen in Downey in a long time. Since it's opening day, I've been there many times, wth my husband and with friends. We've always experienced wonderful service from all staff, from the front desk to servers to the tequila cart server. The music is on point! House and techno are my favorite. The whole ambience reminds me of amazing times at Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The drinks are outstanding with all the clever names and presentation! Queso fundido is delicious and the arrachera, just so tasty. The decor is top notch. The black and white with the chandeliers is perfection. Just overall, one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in. That's including places in New York and Europe. We just went last night and I'll be there in two weeks. YES! Food= 5-10 Service= 3-10 Ambiance= 10-10 Diosa is a very nice restaurant. It's so nice you almost forget it's in a strip mall. Unfortunately, the food & service don't match the decor and ambiance. The food lacks flavor. As an example, the lobster quesadilla is over priced, lacks flavor, and had more corn than anything. The guacamole had a nice kick to it but I could have done without the smoke (you couldn't taste the smoke anyway). I wanted to try the steak nachos but our bartender forgot to put our order in so unfortunately they were a no go. Diosa does have a very nice liquor & tequila selection so if you like addictive free tequila, they've got you covered. However, good luck getting a drink when they get busy. I'd suggest getting there early because the busier it gets the worse the service is. Conversely, the bartenders and servers are friendly but as previously mentioned when it's gets busy it'll be difficult to get their attention for anything. Overall Diosa is a very nice restaurant but they need alot of help in the kitchen and at the bar. Also, for what they charge for food and beverage I expected more from them and they just didn't deliver. What an amazing addition to Downey! I am so happy that I checked this place out. Everything was absolute perfection. The decor and ambiance are top notch and not many restaurants anywhere look as beautiful as Diosa does. My wife and I could not stop looking around, noticing every detail and design...wonderful. Service was as excellent as the setting, friendly, professional and fun. Every employee in which we interacted with knew the meaning of hospitality and how to take care of a guest. We were checked on throughout our experience and definitely felt pampered throughout by an experienced staff. The food was on point, everything we tried was delicious and the menu had so many more options to choose from. We wished we could have ordered it all! Some highlights of our experience - The Lobster Ceviche - Lobster and scallops with fresh lime and tostadas, super light and refreshing, an excellent starter. Mango- Habanero Aguachile - perfectly spicy with shrimp and avocado Steak Empanadas - skirt steak and mushrooms inside, perfectly crispy outside. Dipped them chipolte aioli. Bone in Tomahawk Ribeye (added mojo de ajo mushrooms and a side of poblano mash potatoes) - this was epic! Perfectly cooked, highly recommend the add ons, the mojo mushrooms are over the top good. For drinks we opted to start the night with a shot each of their house aged Extra Anejo tequila. They have an excellent selection of tequila and we went on a Tuesday, and so many tequilas were 50% off! Tequila Tuesday! My wife had The Salma, she said it was springtime in a glass, perfectly balanced. I went with the Vintage fashion. the smoke box was impressive and made for a great video. I'm a sucker for old fashions and this one did not disappoint. Overall, this was not just a dinner, but an experience.
