PROS - The decor is lovely and I enjoyed the music - The food is plated beautifully CONS - Parking; they have over 50% of their lot for valet only and most of it is unused, I totally get wanting to have a valet service available but it feels like they're trying to force you to valet - Service; the food came out at three separate times for a party of three. I should have listened to the reviews, but my husband and I wanted to judge this place for ourselves. My husband and I are foodies and always love to try out new restaurants especially when they are local. Unfortunately, I also agree with all of the low rated reviews. 2 starts for the service and the ambience are which are very good! However, the food is way over priced. I don't mind spending when it comes to a good food however, when they have no flavor everything seems over priced. We ordered the seafood paella, the chicken Al Pastor and the steak ribeye, and unfortunately all three dishes were lacking in flavor. The drinks were decent and standard price for a drink at a bar. BUT Being that it is a brand new restaurant we are willing to give it one more try in a couple of months, maybe for lunch vs dinner this time. read more

I was there in December 2024. DIOSA is a restaurant placed in a strip mall, but I could see it stand alone in Newport or the Palisades. The decor is a Mediterranean crossed with Vegas. The staff is amazing and during the holiday party season loud and fun for groups. For our intimate dinner for two not so much unfortunately, it couldn't be helped. The food was decent we made the mistake of ordering the pasta out of the Parmesan wheel and it was really salty. The rest of the food and drinks were good though. read more

Sexy Mexican delicious cuisine. Cancun/Tulum infused and reinvented. All that blings with a touch of sparkle, date night at Diosa I was impressed, an elegant ambiance with a cool club vibe Live DJ was nice. Drinks are exotic and scrumptiously divine, totally romantic and love the mobile bar. Food was exquisite and the presentation is exceptional. The drinks are good as well depending on the bartender of course. $14 for mimosa during Goddess hour sounds a bit much for this hour, and I didn't see the price on the menu. I like the margarita flight I had during my October visit!!! GODDESS HOUR is a nice name for happy hour here...... I did not get an itemized receipt. I prefer a itemized receipt because restaurants (elsewhere) are adding charges like health insurance to our receipts. Be Mindful!! This is a temporary review. It's Saturday night 7pm when we decide to have some cocktails. We decide we would try Diosa. Knowing it would probably be packed on a weekend we call in advance to see if bar walk ins are accepted. We were told bar walk ins are accepted. We arrive 8pm and are told we are not allowed to be seated because there are no walk ins. Front desk has no idea what to say about the miscommunication. Manager is "not able to speak with us" so we head over to Xecra in the Downey Landing. I will give them another chance by making reservations. Hope they can fix miscommunication with the front staff until then will be giving a 1 star read more

The building and aesthetics was above and beyond. Considering this used to be a hometown buffet before the transformation exceeded my expectations. Plenty of staff for valet and quick service. Nice people. Food was good, some items I thought were over priced for taste but was overall good food. Ahi tuna was too spicy but i am sensitive, the corn was really delicious with the chipotle sauce, steak Caesar was okay. Steak empanadas were pretty good. Ice-cream sundae was huge, definitely for 4-7 people lol. Food= 5-10 Service= 3-10 Ambiance= 10-10 Diosa is a very nice restaurant. It's so nice you almost forget it's in a strip mall. Unfortunately, the food & service don't match the decor and ambiance. The food lacks flavor. As an example, the lobster quesadilla is over priced, lacks flavor, and had more corn than anything. The guacamole had a nice kick to it but I could have done without the smoke (you couldn't taste the smoke anyway). I wanted to try the steak nachos but our bartender forgot to put our order in so unfortunately they were a no go. Diosa does have a very nice liquor & tequila selection so if you like addictive free tequila, they've got you covered. However, good luck getting a drink when they get busy. I'd suggest getting there early because the busier it gets the worse the service is. Conversely, the bartenders and servers are friendly but as previously mentioned when it's gets busy it'll be difficult to get their attention for anything. Overall Diosa is a very nice restaurant but they need alot of help in the kitchen and at the bar. Also, for what they charge for food and beverage I expected more from them and they just didn't deliver. DIOSA is the best thing to happen in Downey in a long time. Since it's opening day, I've been there many times, wth my husband and with friends. We've always experienced wonderful service from all staff, from the front desk to servers to the tequila cart server. The music is on point! House and techno are my favorite. The whole ambience reminds me of amazing times at Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The drinks are outstanding with all the clever names and presentation! Queso fundido is delicious and the arrachera, just so tasty. The decor is top notch. The black and white with the chandeliers is perfection. Just overall, one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in. That's including places in New York and Europe. We just went last night and I'll be there in two weeks. YES! My friend and I decided to try out DIOSA for lunch earlier today around 4pm. We walked in and there was only 1 other couple seated in the entire restaurant since it was a Monday before dinner hours, which neither of us were expecting since it was a new place we were trying, but we figured that's nice maybe they'll give us really good service since they aren't packed (well we were wrong) ‍ The first server who came over was a lady who didn't say much to us but told us to take our time and seemed friendly. Then a different man took over.... The first question he asked us was if we wanted to order mock-tails, which I actually did since I prefer no alcohol. (My friend is in her mid 20s as am I) so instead of asking what she wanted to drink it was weird he specifically asked that instead, as if she was underage and couldn't have any alcohol. Being carded is perfectly understandable protocol but his comment was unnecessary. Mind you we were respectful and nice to him, also some of the only customers in the restaurant so his attitude towards us was completely unnecessary. We were both pretty astounded at the whole thing really... He acted like he didn't even want to serve us the whole time we were there. Other customers showed up and he was very ENTHUSIASTICALLY helping them and smiling, laughing etc. He came by our table 2 times and barely said anything. It took him forever to come by our table to see if we were finished or needed anything else and get the check for us while he was busy talking to his co worker. I think I came across the mean girls version of a guy. I didn't get his name, since of course he didn't even introduce himself as our server or have an ounce of customer service. After contemplating for a few minutes, we decided to leave him a very generous $1 tip. I felt bad leaving nothing at all. ‍ I really don't like doing that, as I am aware a lot of servers depend on tips, but man you really deserved that 110%... tips are for people that actually deserve them. What an amazing addition to Downey! I am so happy that I checked this place out. Everything was absolute perfection. The decor and ambiance are top notch and not many restaurants anywhere look as beautiful as Diosa does. My wife and I could not stop looking around, noticing every detail and design...wonderful. Service was as excellent as the setting, friendly, professional and fun. Every employee in which we interacted with knew the meaning of hospitality and how to take care of a guest. We were checked on throughout our experience and definitely felt pampered throughout by an experienced staff. The food was on point, everything we tried was delicious and the menu had so many more options to choose from. We wished we could have ordered it all! Some highlights of our experience - The Lobster Ceviche - Lobster and scallops with fresh lime and tostadas, super light and refreshing, an excellent starter. Mango- Habanero Aguachile - perfectly spicy with shrimp and avocado Steak Empanadas - skirt steak and mushrooms inside, perfectly crispy outside. Dipped them chipolte aioli. Bone in Tomahawk Ribeye (added mojo de ajo mushrooms and a side of poblano mash potatoes) - this was epic! Perfectly cooked, highly recommend the add ons, the mojo mushrooms are over the top good. For drinks we opted to start the night with a shot each of their house aged Extra Anejo tequila. They have an excellent selection of tequila and we went on a Tuesday, and so many tequilas were 50% off! Tequila Tuesday! My wife had The Salma, she said it was springtime in a glass, perfectly balanced. I went with the Vintage fashion. the smoke box was impressive and made for a great video. I'm a sucker for old fashions and this one did not disappoint. Overall, this was not just a dinner, but an experience. Diosa is a beautiful gem, everything from the atmosphere to food, drinks and service was exceptional and what we expect from a fine dining establishment. The neighboring couple was already dining when we arrived. Late 40's. We get through about 3/4 of our dinner. There was a FULL cocktail on our table. Salsa trio as well. A man in a beige blazer with a low bun walks up to the two tables, points to my table, and instructs an employee to clear my table (then proceeds to point at my table.) He was loud and clear. I watched the employee loop around the set of tables, never taking my eye off him. He then proceeds to ask if he could clear our plates. The couple next to us was long done, still had plates on their table. I felt singled out, considering we still had food on our table. I let him know it was very unprofessional of his superior to loudly demand him to clear our table. He nodded. Was it because we are young? do we not deserve to finish our meal? I let my waitress know. A manager approached us and suggested it might've been a misinterpretation because the person I was describing was a general manager. I was shocked. I reassured her, there was no room for interpretation. He could've simply said, "hi, I realize the tables are a bit crowded. Is there anything I can take from your table?" Or perhaps instructed his employee to clear out the table but out of earshot in a PROFESSION MANNER. His status within the restaurant does not excuse his unprofessionalism nor does it make him inmune to committing mistakes. I highly recommend a reservation during the weekend but we came on a sunday night & we were able to get sat within 5 minutes The restaurant is beautiful!
