About a month ago, I was trying to get Maryland Style crabs. So, I went on Cameron Seafood site. I ordered two dozen extra-large crabs and they actually sent me small-medium crabs. We were highly disappointed with our order. Yes, they reimbursed me after I complained on their website. So, I did my research and decided to look locally. I did my research and inquired as to the size of crabs who were available. I was intrigued when I was told of the sizes that were available. I was so excited, The staff were very friendly and greeted me with the biggest smile. When I felt the weight of the bag, I knew that I was going to experience something different. When I got home and pulled out the crabs, I was shocked!! They were so big and full of meat throughout!! I was thinking, "I've got to share the good news with Direct Seafood Outlet!! I really don't know what to make of this place, its unique, that is for sure! The challenge is trying to figure out the menu on the wall, how to order and decoding some of the buzzwords. Don't believe me, look at the web site, which looks like it was written by some kid in his basement 20 years ago. Forgot HTML or CSS standards! But I digress. You don't get to see anything before you order it. You are standing in sort of an office, and a guy sitting in chair scribbles your order and hands it into the mysterious back room. Then your order comes out and you pay (cash). Now, we played it safe and ordered some grouper, which is usually pretty good in Florida. We were not disappointed. It was very well packed to keep it cool on the home. Spectacular fish. I guess I would like to try other stuff, but I'd need to figure out what is fresh, it all can't be. I went to Direct Seafood the other day and picked up some jumbo scallops and some rock shrimp. We cooked them last night. They were so tasty everyone was eaten before I could get a picture. First time there was happy to have found a new source for our sea food that is fresh and reasonably priced. we purchased Real Maine lobsters and they were delicious. Personnel were frendly. Don't expect a big display of product because they primarily sell wholesale. They do provide you with an extensive list of their product inventory so you can prepare ahead on future visits or call to see if they have what you're looking for as we did. Be advised they accept cash, checks, but no plastic. However, for your convenience they do have their own ATM. I highly recommend this hidden gem. We weren't sure they were open because the building is very unassuming, but we were glad to discover that they were indeed open. They have a board on the wall on which they list their products. We ordered fresh mahi and fresh tuna. The mahi was the best I have ever had, very sweet and it melted in our mouths. The tuna was a thin slice so I was afraid I might over cook it, but I didn't. It also was delicious and so soft. They give you a lemon to accompany your fish which was a nice touch. The shop also carries some supplies you might need to cook with, which was an added bonus. Don't know if finding this place was a blessing or a curse. We are now on a first name basis with Jerry, the owner and are in the store one to three times a week. I signed up for their daily email, so I know daily what their fresh catch is and the price. I can call and have them put my quantity aside so when I go later in the day, I have what I want. Hogfish snapper (new favorite), clams, steamers, mussels and blue crabs all excellent ( exception of once when 15 out of 100 clams were dead). I have also ordered items not normally carried - whole fresh branzino, veal sweetbreads. I have tried their veal osso bucco (frozen and excellent), pheasant breasts (by the piece), lobster head meat (frozen 1# picked packages). Prices are good, in my opinion. Yes, some fish is expensive, but if you go to the port to get it at the seafood market, it is 1-1/2 times the price. And if you purchase the fish prepared at a restaurant, it is 2-3 times the price. I have not yet tried their fresh beef but heard a customer telling Jerry that the tenderloin he had gotten was the best he ever had. And the fresh sea scallops (dry and huge) were THE BEST we have ever gotten, including while we were in Europe. The flash frozen scallops are good, but if you can get the fresh, OMG. BUYER BEWARE!! WARNING!!! Was in town visiting my daughter when I came to seafood direct and spent 200$ for a special family seafood dinner. Wahoo, Tuna, flounder, shrimp, and lobster. Not even 4 hours after dinner the entire family was horribly sick. It felt like a bad movie one by one they all started to fall. Worst food poisoning I Personally have ever had in 55 years and I eat and grew up around a lot of seafood. The only family member would did not get sick was the one who only ate lobster and shrimp. They say it's fresh fish but there's no way. It ruined the last of our family vacation together. we lost two days sleeping and not far from the rest room. I've been here before but this will be my last time. I wanted to go back and demand for a refund on the fish that's how upset I was to see my family in agony but I was too weak myself and knew they wouldn't honor this. Without exception, every filet that I've purchased has been incredibly fresh and tasty and 100% edible (ie zero bones/skin). I always call ahead so the order is waiting for me when I arrive. If wanting to spend less, explore "clippings" from the type of meat you're interested in. One time I was in their Hog Snapper clippings were selling at $5 per pound! After reading all of the great reviews, I had to check this place out because I was really excited to get some good seafood. I stepped inside and saw that not a single employee was wearing a mask, even the people in the back packaging up all of the meat. It's such a tiny enclosed area and this business isn't doing anything to follow CDC guidelines besides put a glass partition between the employee checking you out, which still doesn't cover them fully. There's not even a "masks required" sign. You would think that after being in a pandemic for over a year, in a state that has rising numbers, that businesses would want to help stop the spread. However, it's clear that people just care more about making money than they do about their community and the people who help keep their company alive. The easiest thing that Americans can do is to wear a mask to prevent spreading a deadly virus. Especially in the food industry. Won't be returning even after the pandemic. Such a shame. read more

Jerry and his crew are amazing! This is a fun and friendly business that I frequent at about every 2 weeks or less to stock up and the seafood is very good - I am quite picky coming from San Francisco. My favorites are the Scottish Salmon, Scallops and Snow Crab Legs. Of course I have eaten many other tasty items that are also of high quality - this is my go to seafood shop and the prices are reasonable. I have tried seafood from around at different places and it doesn't come close to the quality at Direct Seafood. If they weren't here, I would not be eating much seafood since I haven't been able to find quality outside of this place and I won't eat it if it isn't really good. This place gets packed on weekends and is out of control on holidays - its that good. The good news about that is that means the fish is always fresh! The stuff is flying out the door... I grew up in Melbourne, FL and was back for the holidays looking for a source of sushi-grade raw fish when I stumbled onto this place. First off, the sheer quantity and variety of meat and fish they carry is astounding. I wish I still lived nearby so I could come back and try some of the seafood I never had a source for before. Second, the owner and staff are nice and efficient. I came in here around 11am on Christmas Day, arguably one of the worst times to be shopping for food besides Thanksgiving, and, while the place was packed, I was in and out in less than 15-20 minutes. I hadn't even called ahead with my order which would have made the wait even shorter. This place is all around impressive.
