From the brioche bun to the meat. Everything I had was flavorful. I don't know why, but the hot dog mixed very well with the cheesesteak . And as for the fries, crispy, seasoned and the sauces mix well. Wish there was a little more meat on the fries but it was still delicious. I'll be back for sure

I came to this location for the first time on a Tuesday afternoon and it was empty. No wait at all, and service was quick, and appreciated. There is seating indoor and outdoor but we sat outside since it was a bit stuffy inside. The worker was nice and she served us everything we needed. I got a Patty melt, D.U.I. dog, LA Cheesesteak, Asada fries, and Garlic fries. Everything was pretty good and worth the price. This location was decent and I would recommend giving it a try.

Drove by this place and it looked closed but upon further investigation I found it to be open. The service was great and the food was delicious! Absolutely will be back to try out the rest of the menu. Plenty of seating inside as well as some outside seating. In a pretty big shopping mall so parking will not be a problem. The food while they don't use hot dog buns still tasted amazing! The ambiance was very chill and quiet for lunch. It was not very busy maybe 2 others customers came in as we sat down and enjoyed our meal. They do sell alcohol which is nice but I was on company time. Definitely a 9.5/10 will be back to sample the rest of the menu.

Dirt Dog has been on my radar for a while for their hot dogs as they have locations in LA, Long Beach, and the Las Vegas Strip. What finally got me to come in was because I saw an article on LA Taco which mentioned that Dirt Dog had some legit carnitas. The article was written in 2023 and, unfortunately, Dirt Dog isn't presently serving the carnitas; however, we still made sure we took the opportunity to try their hot dogs, carne asada fries, tacos, and elote. Our favorite thing was the hot dog that they are known for. I kept it simple with their "house dog", because I don't need a fancy dog to be happy. What I appreciated about the hot dog is that they had a pretty top quality hot dog bollilo/bun, I appreciated the bacon wrapped beef hot dog, and the sauteed veg. It's a good hot dog. I liked the carne asada fries as the fries are crispy with seasoning and the dressings (salsa, onion, cilantro, guac) and carne asada were nice. Their large size wasn't really super large, but it was a decent portion size for my wife and I. Elote and tacos were okay for me - they're not what I'd order on a return visit. If I wanted asada, I'd get it with the fries. I hope that they'll consider bringing back their carnitas at a later time as I'd love to try them. For now, I'm glad that I finally got to try this place.

Wowwwwww! This place was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! We got the agua frescas, elote dog, carne asada fries, birria tacos, and of course some cheesecake and everything was seriously a 10 out of 10!!! I would give them 6 stars if I could! The staff was also very nice and friendly, they even brought our food to our table for us! The place is pretty small inside so only a few tables available but we looooved the vibe! The music was pumping and we appreciated the Snoop Dogg hahaha! Anyway, can't recommend this place enough, come check it out! You can't go wrong with anything you get here!

Came with family for dinner tonight, I was craving hot dogs and esquite, this spot was perfect! The entire staff were all so great but a big special thanks to Julie, girl you are the sweetest thing and just absolutely made our night special. Thank you so much! The vibes here are casual and comfy, la comfort food for sure! We came starving! Ordered $100 worth of food that could have easily fed four people...but anyways.... I had the elote veggie dog on the lobster roll and the veggie house special on the regular bun. I enjoyed both very much but my favorite was the elote dog. My husband had the regular beef LA cheesesteak dog on a lobster roll and he said it was so good and didn't leave one bite. We also ordered a large esquite, hit the spot for sure! Got a large strawberry Jamaica in a little jarrito it was so damn cute, this was like nothing I've tried before and I am now putting this on my cravings list!! We got three orders of wings, one set in each flavor because we couldn't make up our minds on which one to try lol they were all good but my favorites were the bbq and mango habanero. We ordered the small dirty fries and that spicy ketchup was bomb! Fries were delicious and well cooked. We also got a churro and deep fried Oreos. My god. That churrro. It was like the cherry on top of everything. It was perfectly fried and warm and slightly gooey inside. Served with the little cream side it was just to die for. Overall I have zero complaints, the food came out so quick! Everything was fresh and well made and it compensated for the price, I think it was well worth it. Will def be coming back!

The hot dogs here are soooo good. They're wrapped in bacon and loaded with delicious toppings. I got the elote dog and "hot" hot dog from this location and the elote dog was delicious, the "hot" hot dog is loaded with birria but it got really soggy and the birria is dry. The pastrami and carne asada fries are also really good, fries are crispy but it definitely needs more sauce/other toppings

    TRUTH

Came in and Kenia p. & Alex both greeted me and showed me the most popular foods, the grilled cheese birra was ON POINT, the atmosphere was on point from the music to the on point service, the walls were full of amazing art, and they turned a negative in too a positive with the tagging keep doing yall thang

    House Dog

This is a review specifically on the packaging/ handling of the food. Ordered two of the house dogs and one made it home good and the other completely tossed. Drove at a reasonable pace so goes to show their packaging for Togo needs much improvement or their worker packed it poorly.

I am currently in the Downey, California on a work assignment. I sometimes get a craving for a great hot dog and today was that day. I found this local place called Dirty Dog. I checked them out online and read the backstory of how the place got its start. The menu is great as it has very creative variations on hotdogs as well as other fantastic menu items such as wings, specialized fries and a few dessert items. I met Julia and Felipe who work at the Downey location. They were very welcoming, friendly and ready for business. I purchased the Cheesesteak Dog and the DUI Dog. Both were terrific! They were both filling and taste great! The service is friendly and fast. All items are made to order and served hot and fresh. There is plenty of room to dine in or get your food ti go, the choice is yours. The next time I go back I plan to get wings and carne asada fries. If in the Downey, CA area, give Dirty Dog a try!

Ok spot for grabbing some hot dogs but I was not a fan of the prices here. The bun to meat ratio was not ideal. Fries were ok.

we did a quick pitstop for a snack and man was it so worth it. we got a hot dog and corn and it was the perfect little snack to have. the service was amazing, the cashier was patient to answer our questions and the food came out fast. the vibe was interesting and seemed customer forward with graffiti and paintings of LA icons.

Do you offer any vegan options at this time?

There are 2-3 vegan options with vegan sausages. I recommend adding corns on top. It's very delicious!

    Is this place pet friendly?

Yes. They have a patio dining area. There was a couple with a very large poodle dining in the patio area when I was there.

What are the veggie dogs like?

You can order any dog style, just let them know you want it with a veggie dog. My son enjoyed it

During COVID we ordered Portillo's on delivery, it was not great. I remember my Italian Beef tasting like old beef. I remember throwing it away. It's gonna be way better fresh than on delivery!" It wasn't. I had the Italian Beef, added the peppers (so stupid you have to pay more for them), he got the "Jumbo" Hot Dog, which is literally the size of any normal hot dog you would get anywhere. I had the meal which came with fries and a drink, we also ordered onion rings and a Chocolate Cake Shake. Didn't take long for our food to come out. They have a huge sign that says "CONDIMENTS HERE" so we went to see what they had - ketchup. Yes, just ketchup. His hot dog was a hot dog, I didn't think it was anything special, but he liked it. The beef still tasted old to me, I guess that's just the taste of it, and i'm just not a fan. If it weren't for the flavor of the peppers, I would have hated this again. The fries and onion rings were pretty good. The shake was fine but didn't blow my mind. We got a small and ended up throwing half of it away. Doubt i'll be back, but if I am for some reason, i'll probably just get onion rings and try their chili.

This place is always recommended to me on Yelp anytime I try to find places to eat in Little Tokyo…read moreand technically it's in the Arts District, but it's within walking distance. I've had my brother and several friends say that it's good and since we were closer to this area for a pop up event, we dropped by and I finally had a chance to try it. We visited during the final game of the World Cup, so there was no more indoor dining, but there's a couple bench tables outside at the side of the building. Part of the building shades over the seating, so even on a pretty hot day, this worked in a pinch and there was a slight breeze too, thank goodness. Staff was helpful and and answered our questions. They also brought our order out to the tables outside, which was nice. They also took our trash and tray back when we were done too. Each table has ketchup, brown and spicy mustard if need be. Inside, you order and pay at the cashier, grab a number, and they bring it to you. There's a bunch of sausage links on display, as well as the sodas and you can see some of the beer that they have too. For our Sunday lunch, we got the: 1) Sunset Zero soda: -It's an imported German soda. Love that there's a zero sugar version. It's a citrus cola with ending vanilla notes. Way better than some of the orange Pepsi/Pepsi Fire they ran in the past. Nice to try. 2) Rattlesnake & Rabbit with Jalapeno Peppers: -Unique combination of predator and prey meats all encased into one sausage. Also, not often you can get these meats as well. -Slight spicy kick to it from the jalapenos and rich, buttery texture of the meats together. -Each hot dog comes with 2 toppings and we got caramelized onions and sauerkraut with this which added a nice sour and sweet taste to it too. -I liked this the most of the 2 of them. 3) Pheasant with Herbs de Provence: -Nice savory flavor, but I was a fool and ordered this with the sweet and spicy peppers as a topping since they were different from the other toppings we got and I mostly just tasted the bitter aftertaste of the peppers that sort of overpowered the meats. My mistake if anything since the bites with just meat and mustard were delicious. 4) Groot of Belgian Fries: -Huge serving, way too much for 2 people especially with 2 hot dogs and we sadly could not finish it, but at the very least it came with 2 dipping sauces. -Before ordering this, I didn't groot referred to anything other than a Marvel character. -Fries had a rich, deeper flavor than standard fries, nice slight crispiness. We got it with curry ketchup and sundried tomato mayo. The tomato mayo was fine, definitely a lighter flavor and since the fries tasted so rich on their own, I feel like the curry ketchup was a more flavorful and better match. I love a good hot dog, so being able to try it with more exotic meats, flavors, and sauces makes it definitely worth stopping by.

The rattlesnake & rabbit was interesting but could've used a little more salt. I also loved the toasted buns, sauerkraut, and caramelized onions. The fries were fluffy inside but I wish they were a little crispier. I also loved their beer selection and they let us sample a few before ordering. If you go definitely get the Kasteel Tropicale!! But at night, I'm not so sure I'd take my wife or mother-in-law there; it may be fine, but I don't want to find out. BTW - Dirty Vegas - Days Gone By (some of you will get it) Anywho, moving on. We ordered the following; 1 Chicken Sandwich 2 Chili dogs with cheese 1 Chili fry 1 Soda for a total of $38.51 (cash) My first mistake; not taking a photo of the current 'Menu' board; it is different from what's shown here; it has been updated. However, there is a 'Grilled Chicken Sandwich' on the menu board that is not offered... instead, they offer a tiny fried (breaded) and processed chicken disk-shaped patty; a 'sandwich' honestly, not worth buying... stick to the chili burgers or chili dogs. My honest opinion on this chicken sandwich is this, it should just be removed altogether from the menu -- it is of no real value to customers as it is, and it lowers the quality of menu items being offered. The Chili, however, is their selling point -- stick to that, and they'll do well. Chili dogs are good; a decent, long, slightly snappy dog on a regular small bun, but lightly smothered with a decent portion of chili; not too messy and easy to eat - not a 'Great Value' but an OK value for today's pricing. The Chili Fries were also good; not great but good. The portion if generous but the fries quickly turned soft before I could plow into them. I do like some crispy fries with my Chili. However, while soggy, the flavor was good. I can't make a recommendation on this until I try another batch of chili fries from Chroni's. If, however, the fries remain soaked, soft & soggy, I'd then pass on ordering Chili Fries but just go straight to ordering regular fries with a side order of Chili -- I hate soft soggy fries that much. As for the soda; a large is an OK size. However, I cannot say if they offer a refill; I didn't go back to ask for one. But I'd hope a refill is available for the price... it'd be a shame if they didn't offer a refill. Pastrami: I got to taste a sample of the Pastrami, and it is really good. Here is where Chroni's could kick it up a notch; Chroni's does not have Bacon - Huge Disappointment and Missed Opportunity, I feel. With the Pastrami they do offer, IF made available; with Bacon, they could add one more menu Item that I know for a fact would sell: The Monster Burger - it is simply this: Bacon Cheeseburger with Pastrami, Chili, Onions & Pickles, and mustard. If they'd add this one to their menu, I'd be back for sure. Just saying; something for Chroni's to think about. Get rid of the chicken, add the bacon. Seating: Oh, yeah; seating; Lots of outdoor seating... we were there on a Sunday and there were plenty of open tables. Parking: Lots of Parking too... for most parts or time, parking should not be an issue as I had thought it would be. I nearly parked 3 blocks away in anticipation of the lot being full; that was because I had not been there before, and the parking on the street was loaded; not knowing Chroni's had its own parking, I feared the worst. But as we got there, I was amazed to see, they had plenty of open parking space. Restrooms: I cannot say anything about the restrooms; I didn't need to go nor looked to see how they were kept. My take-away for Chroni's is this; it is a throw-back to an early time when Snack Shack foods were a regular thing in L.A.; a nostalgic place with Lots of Promise and Potential, but where Pricing is a sign of the modern times; a bit high for Chroni's to be a regular place, but it is what it is. However, the staff are really friendly, nice & polite. My hope for Chroni's would be to focus on promotions & higher sales volume with an emphasis toward lowering prices as demand begins to grow once again. By minimizing the menus and just focusing on turning Chroni's back into High Quality Chili & Chili Burger Shack -- this would definitely help increase sales once prices come down a bit. And if done right, there will still be lots of opportunity to turn a nice profit. 5 Stars for Friendly & Nice Service 2 Stars on the Chicken & Soft/Soggy Fries 4 Stars for Seating 4 Stars for Parking 3 Stars for Cleanliness/Outdoor Dining/Restrooms (???) and bus bench/streetside characters. And, 5 Stars for Potential Overall - 3.5 Stars for now.
