We came in when it was slow and quiet, so I'm unsure of what it would be like when it's full or busy lol but our server was friendly and took time to answer all of our questions and explained too! Everything was fun and great! *The only criticism I would have for the food would be maybe that it needs a sauce or something to go along with what we ordered because most of it was just dry? I'm still sitting in the Nags Head location, there are multiple men talking very loudly/angrily, some dude started screaming, it sounded like a table got knocked over. I have literally never felt more unsafe in a dining location in my entire life. Time stamping at 5:10pm Feb 22. Man has now stormed out. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and very helpful in assisting us with choosing our dish. The fresh catch seafood is market price, so depending on the time of the year you come the prices will vary. Sooooo...I started out with "Dick's addiction drink" with Malibu rum, blackberry liqueur, cranberry juice & sprite & it was delish! Super smooth & you could taste the rum but not too overwhelming. It comes in a souvenir cup for $10.99. They brought out hush puppies with a honey butter. The hush puppies had a good flavor, but a little too crunchy for my liking which is why I deducted one star. For my entree, I got the blackened chicken pasta and it was THE ONE! So good and full of flavor! The chicken was super tender and seasoned to perfection and the Alfredo sauce was jammed packed with flavorrrrr! That prob was one of my favorite pastas that I've had at a restaurant. Sat at the bar with a party of three. The fried shrimp Po boy sandwich was huge. Shrimp were fried delicately and very tasty. The bread was delicious. The house-made potato chips were very good. All in all, a tasty and very large plate of food for a lunch, the two other guests had the she crab soup and rated it highly. Ambience is what you would expect in a restaurant like this, kitschy, cheesy, but enjoyable. Service at the bar was very quick. Not a bad spot to go to for lunchtime. read more

We always figured this place was a gimmick based on the advertisements. But after yet another person told us we should go, we decided to give it a try. The decor is absolutely "crab shack" and nothing special. Service was decent, but we were not there at a busy time. Server was attentive, manager came by to check on us. Food surprised! Our dishes came out in a reasonable time, were good and hot, and well seasoned. The flavor profile surprised us for a "crab house". I wouldn't go so far as to say it was gourmet, but it was a notch better than I expected. The special of the day, a seafood mix in a cream sauce served in a bread bowl was particularly good. I'm sure they were using up some of the less than visually perfect scallops and shrimp in this "soup", but that's ok. Tasted great! Now, I've seen the parking lot, and lines out the door at busy times. Do I think it is worth waiting in that line? Absolutely not. But if you go when there isn't a line, do I think it's worth a shot? Dirty Dick's is exactly what it's supposed to be. A gimmicky tourist place at best. There are no locals here. The food was just fine but this is the kind of place you'll only stop once. We rode in on our motorcycles waaay past lunch time and we were hungry. I got the big fish sandwich and it was A-OK. The place has plenty of nautical kitsch and an overpriced but well stocked gift shop. I left with a Dirty Dicks t-shirt. It is worth one stop. read more

To start, I would not come here again. We came down to the OBX on business, and came here disregarding its' rating because a local suggested it. The staff was a little slow in coming to serve us, and while waiting we noticed the table to be rather sticky. Our server was very nice and pleasant when she came to get our drink and appetizer order. She brought back two waters for us and that's when we first tasted it - a heavy plastic overtook the flavor. We were satisfied with our beer so we didnt make a big deal of it. Our waitress brought out our cajun egg rolls and to our disgust we tasted it again. We asked her about it at this point and she informed us it was because of the beach water. I didnt understand this excuse because we've been to other restaurants here and we're locals to Virginja Beach and we haven't had this issue. Our entrees were brought out and they were pretty good, so we didnt lose hope just yet. When I finished my clm strips (they were all you can eat) I had my basket refilled with fried shrimp. The plastic taste returned in the shrimp prominent as ever and it was absolutely disgusting. Our waitress had a taste and said she agreed. She said the manager would come by, but then came back and said the manager wouldn't be by, she'd just take the appetizer off of our bill. We were alright with that. However, after looking over our bill, we realized the domestic pitcher was 20 bucks. I've never seen a pitcher cost so much. We left really unsatisfied and I can't say i would suggest eating here to anyone. **we ended up laying in bed all day after this, constantly running to the bathroom. The hush puppies were soooo good! The gator bites were cooked perfectly and the spicy peel and eat shrimp were delicious. Absolutely no complaints. We sat at the bar because it was super busy but our bartender was so friendly and got our order in before the bigger tables. There credit are machines were down so we had to use the atm down the street to eat, that was the only issue. We would eat here again! read more

Ha, this is a hilarious place! My partner and I took both sets of our parents in, and after their shock of the tee shirts wore off, they saw the humor in all of the sexual puns. I give this spot 3 stars because the food is just meh. They give you super large portions, and the food is decent- it's just not anything to write home about. We got the fried gator to start, and then almost all of us went from the broiler seafood platter. The service was okay- I will say my mother-in-law got the shrimp scampi pasta and it came out cold, then she had to wait quite a while to get a new one made. That's always tough with a table of 6 and one person doesn't have food! Overall we probably have done our one time trip in- the humor of the place is something though. read more

Stop what you are doing and check this out: Someone is actually providing High Availability Breakfast Buffet on the OBX. I kid you not. DDix is currently serving a full fledged breakfast buffet every single day of the week from 8am - 11:30am. This is the first summer that they are doing this. Everyone needs to go so that they will continue to do this. And it's a GREAT breakfast buffet. They make their own sausage - delicious! They serve smoked salmon and it is so FRESH! And the reason why there are no more french toast sticks? Oh yeah - my husband ate them all. They have an omelette & pancake station. I'm weird - I attempt to eat "healthy" at buffets. So I asked the very kind lady at the station to assemble my omelette using one egg and a whole bunch of whites. She said "Sure!" and said that it would take a bit extra because she had to beat the eggs to my liking. Not even five minutes later, they bring my omelette to me (I didn't have to wait). It was MASSIVE and very tasty. The only reason that I can think of that this place isn't packed to the gills during this time is because word hasn't gotten out yet. At 13 bucks an adult and kids and seniors eating even for less...people need to know about this. After a morning workout and before you head to the beach - stop at this place for some breakfast that everyone will love! PS - I also enjoy their dinners very much. Our first time at Dirty Dicks, and our server Joy enthusiastically explained the varied menu options, and brought out delicious hush puppies with the generous sized drinks. The crab legs were fresh and perfectly seasoned. The 'She Crab' soup was hot, and so rich and packed with deliciously seasoned crab meat, that it could have been a meal all by itself! Then, the crab cakes... just chunks of tender crabmeat, grilled and seasoned and surrounded by rice and a medley of fresh crispy , colorful vegetables. This was the best meal we had all week. Food was yummy, but the service was disappointing. I was a sever for 5 years and never treated people the way my family was treated last night. To start, "Rob" forgot to take drink orders from part of the party, we flagged another server down, then rob had an attitude and continued to the rest of the night... missed someone's food order, got someone else's order wrong, slammed beer on the table while mumbling things, never checked to see if we needed anything else. Had to flag down other servers literally the whole night and eventually the manager (who did nothing to make it right, even tried to charge us for catch of the day when my mom orders TACOS - $25 cheaper than the wrong thing ordered. The plate of catch never even touched our table because we refused it. She wanted tacos!). Rob even told us he couldn't sing happy birthday to our meme, which is why we went here, because "it was the end of the night and he couldn't make it happen"... yet the table next to us just had it sang to a member a minute before we asked! Horrible service, horrible management. Sad we had a mandatory service fee of 18% because there were servers there who actually did their job, and rob's job too :/ my memes said it was the worst service she's ever had, and it was her 66th birthday dinner. read more

this is the first place i went when I visited obx and loved it. even though this is my second time visiting this place, i got the same thing and it was consistent. the raw oysters were fresh, the shrimp was seasoned very well, the margaritas were strong (thanks to jenny) and the service was very attentive and friendly! definitely will be going back... again. plus happy hour is from 3pm until 6pm, i believe and they have half priced appetizers (excluding the oysters)! read more

June 20, 2017 Great food and service. My husband and I ordered stuffed Crab Dip, Stuffed Flounder, a side of slaw, and also had complimentary hush puppies. Everything was tasty. I'm not a fan of celery seeds in my slaw. We would recommend eating here and will return again to this friendly atmosphere. Rating of four stars for Dinner. June 24,2017 Update. Had breakfast this morning. They need to stick to their main menu. Very disappointing. Would not recommend. Service was poor. It's like they didn't know what to do. A lot of the food was unidentifiable. Food was not flavored to taste for sure. We heard there was a menu to order from the menu, but that was not an option given to us. We've literally sat here for 30 minutes and we have yet to receive our drink order... they gave us the tired, lame excuse of a shift change. And then admitted we were forgotten about.... They offered a free second round of drinks with a 15% off discount, which is great, except that the 15% discount is offered to everyone. Everyday. With the coupon guide.... And only 1/3 of our table ordered a second drink. Poor management. So, they offered us a bigger discount, which did help. However, they didn't take it off every item. They admitted their mistake and said to fix it, they would have to recharge our credit card and the existing charge would stay for 5 days. How many times do you have to screw up a table instead of making excuse after excuse. By the way, it took 45 minutes for us to get our drinks. We should have just walked out. The food wasn't that good to wait and eat. Go to Sugar Creek and save yourself the frustration. This is very disappointing to say the least. read more

Let me start off by saying, we were super excited to come here because there slogan was hilarious! The only reason they even got a two star review was because of their gator bites and their T shirts (which were over priced). The gator bites would be the only thing I would recommend. The fried pickles were good too but I mean you can't really mess up fried pickles, let's be real! I ordered the snow crabs. For $31.00 I expected more. They were over cooked, barely any meat in the legs and one claw. Not to mention either they stereo typed me because I'm young and gave me the crappiest cluster they could find or they just buy crappy quality crabs. Either way it's unacceptable I am a paying customer! A friend ordered the fried fish sandwich which looked huge!!! Come to find out it was mostly breading... another disappointment. First, it took a while for a server to come to our table. When we gave her our order, she didn't write it down, but then she grabbed a napkin, and wrote a couple things down. First they bring complementary hush puppies, she basically threw them on the table and didn't even tell us what they were. Then the food was brought out by the table runner and it was entirely wrong. The server came out and told us that she had made a mistake and that they would remake the order. Then another table runner came out and tried to give us the wrong food again. When we finally got our food, it was decent, but not great. Also, there was a group of very loud obnoxious drunk people right next to us, and they should have been told to change their behavior because it was very distracting for the restaurant eaters. My wife and I recently visited this location on our vacation trip to OBX. We came expecting a little bit of a wait time based on the number of cars in the parking lot - however we were seated really quickly. The menu is fair sized with a number of good traditional seafood and American food options to choose from. My wife ordered the steak of the day, while I ordered the clam strip platter. The food was mildly seasoned and edible; however, the food was not very warm upon coming to our table. Overall, the service was excellent, food subpar, and atmosphere was as expected for a touristy crowd. Price to ratio of food is comparable, but not up to taste standards. read more

We came here for early dinner as a party of 7. They add a 3% service fee as well as 18% gratuity. Ordered 4 drinks, 3 hurricanes and 1 pina colada. They were all okay. I did not finish my colada. Dinners we ordered shrimp salad, stuffed flounder, a steamed platter, and Mac and cheese. Also 2 kids meals. The shrimp salad was okay, same with the Mac and cheese. The stuffed flounder (which has a crab cake and shrimp on top!) was delicious. Same with the platter. Kids didn't care for the meatballs or the chicken nuggets. Our server was great! Super friendly and attentive. Glad we got there when we did, as it quickly started to fill up! All in all, I don't think what we paid was worth the food we all received, but glad that we got to experience it! read more
