I've taken a total of 3 vehicles to Discount Auto Repair only to come back with more problems than I took it in for. We kept going back for the competitive labor rate and at the time warm hospitality. Looking back at my receipts, repairs and outcome I could've reached out to BAR and made a formal complaint on each and every repair. How ever we kept going back since the request and service was straight forward...up until today. My wife liked this repair facility as it's difficult to find a reputable and honest shop with integrity. I just listen and advise her as she also has automotive experience. 3/22/2025 - Went in for a oil change and was made felt strong armed to choose a synthetic blend which is not required by the car manufacturer but suggested...and It so happened to be the "same price". 2006 Honda Pilot - L/F Window actuator assembly replacement - The window fell down. We took it in with part in hand for a R&R - The vehicle came back home with the window back in place (Thank you) - But it wouldn't go up or down. The shop diagnosed it for hours and "required" a window switch to be replaced at approximately $400 - (No thank you) - The vehicle came back home, I went out to it removed the switch and panel, disconnected all plugs and re connected them.... Window started working again...8 months later....it still working. -Here is another one - A/C Diagnostic - Vehicle visited for no cold air/warm - A/C Freon was pumped in, The system worked for 2-3 weeks...no problem, I understand the "discovery" portion of this Diagnostic. Took it back and the shop suggested replacement of the A/C compressor...A/C system was working fine. The very next day the vehicle went on limp mode in Fontana. Limped it back to the shop and the timing belt kit with tensioner was recommended...what a coincidence? It happens? I understand that that it's a internal component and the codes provided had to with non A/C work...We asked for the vehicle to be checked thoroughly since we had family trip to Nevada during the summer. Of course, at this point we trusted the shop's integrity to have them check and since the timing belt and water pump were being worked on, I'm sure a inspection would have taken place for any other suggestions since the A/C was just worked on...No I took this vehicle to Las Vegas the very next day after picking it up. It over heated twice and the A/C gave out. Luckily We made it home safe while we traveled back at night to avoid the hot 115 degree weather in the day time. I took it to another shop to find out that it was a A/C hose that was leaking the whole time. I'm sure that A/C machine may have not picked it up through the vacuum process...who knows but I did get a shinny New compressor that probably was still working? Here is timeline of repairs and or break down in case anyone reads this far into it. -A/C Blowing warm - Freon injected - A/C blowing warm - A/C Compressor Installed - Vehicle failed/stalled while driving in the hills with my kids in it - Timing Kit with Tensioner and water pump suggested - Nevada Trip - Vehicle over heated, A/C failed - - - over 2,000$ later - Replaced 1 A/C return hose & filled up 1 ad 1/2 Gallons of coolant and burped the air out of the system. Luckily...you guys added Engine oil... 2003 Mazda Tribute - Coolant repairs done correctly - after all parts were provided, no suggested repairs or up sells - Thank you 2009 Nissan Versa - EVAP/Check engine light - Random Miss-fire $900+ Later and 3 visits later? The vehicle still has the check engine light on. read more

This rating should be a six. I took my 06 Tacoma in for a remove and replaced #6 injector, I could not pass smog and ran so sluggish. Other shos wanted at least $800 +, this shop only charges be $400 and that is a with an oil change. Steve the manager called me and informs me the truck runs good and suggested future maintenance they could do for a reasonable price. Steve and Patrick are professional and knowledgeable, they emphasize with the customer. My truck runs great and satisfied with the work and price I paid. This place is now my auto shop. STAY AWAY from this place. I recently took my truck in for simple maintenance and a diagnostic test because it wasn't running normally. I called them just before closing as I hadn't heard back from them to ask about the status of my vehicle, and they said they still hadn't got to it. I showed up later and the only thing they did all day was an oil change (allegedly). I agreed to keep the vehicle there overnight for the diagnostic test(s). Luckily, and unfortunately, I went into their garage area to grab some personal belongings out of my truck and noticed my driver side door handle was badly damaged. Now, my truck has some dings and dents, normal wear and tear, but I literally saw their employee "Patrick" drive past me in the morning, so I know for a fact the damage in question wasn't there when I dropped it off. At least one moron there had the bright idea to park the truck on the smaller hydraulic lift where said door handle made contact with a steel support beam as the door was opened. One employee who spoke broken English attempted to become confrontational with me when I asked what happened to my truck. Steve Arias tried to smooth talk his way out, saying he would take care of the damage. He then tried to "diagnose" my TPMS sensors when I had already requested for them to replace a specific one.. whatever he did caused none of my four sensors to display any readings thereafter. Long story short, STEVE ARIAS hasn't stuck to his words. Also, don't take my word for it. When I initially arrived to pick up my truck, I made small talk with a nearby business owner. The old dude sitting behind the desk when you walk in on the left side is very rude. Seems like he hates his job. Has no customer service skills at all. After standing there for about 10 minutes while both guys were on the phone...they never even acknowledged that I was there. When the old dude got off the phone he under his breath said hello. I didn't even turn around cause I didn't think he was talking to me. After another couple of minutes he say's "hello, can I help you?" I told him I just needed a quote on brakes for back and front and he said car make, model, year? I told him and within 30 seconds he say's $189.99 for back and $189.99 for front. I then told him I already bought factory pads he said "oh ok well it's still $189.99 and $189.99. I was like okayyy, nevermind and left the store. I was referred to this auto shop by Valvoline that is nearby on Milliken. My son's 2015 Mazda was running hot and Valvoline gave a radiator flush but this did not resolve this issue. Therefore valvoline referred me to these people. I arrived with expectation of being treated fairly since I have no knowledge of automobiles and trusted the recommendation. I was told to come back the next day no appointment needed so I did. Last Tuesday April 2 I was told the water pump needed replacing. And possibly the thermostat. So I consented to both. The labor was 190 for replacing the pump drive belt and the pump but no thermostat was replaced. I was told the mechanic had already left for the day so I brought the car back April 8 to have thermostat replaced. When I came for the car I was told that I now needed the cooling fan replaced. The car was running hot again so I left it for repair until today April 10. Now I'm told that they did not need to replace the connector for the right signal because all it need was a bulb. I also was charged 360 for labor again. And told something else was wrong. Well I tried the signal light and it still was blinking. I was told the mechanic manual didn't understand what I wanted. I asked manual and he tells me that the mechanic failed to change the bulb but then Steve tells me it did need a connector after I asked for that in the first place. Too much for labor and I felt that these people took advantage of my not knowing what to look for or what to ask. I was paying for honesty and I felt taken. read more

We have decided to terminate our 15+ year reationship with Discount Auto Repair Center in Feb. 2025. Recently we had difficulties in the quality of services recieved, and the rapid, high cost increases. After an oil change ($80+,) BOTH of the low beam headlights were burned out THAT NIGHT. They didn't check on that or do the 12 point inspetion to justify the price and the usual 2+ hour wait. Driving home in the dark over 40 miles, on some streets that are unlit, I had to use high beams. Last time they charged us $50/labor to put in our bulbs that I purchased, took 10 minutes. Auto Zone replaced the headlight bulbs for free, with bulb purchase. Took a few minutes. After Steve Arias, longtime manager, nice, polite, softspoken, worked on our daughter's Jeep a few days ago, he noticed a coolant leak by accident. Had to leave the car overnight even after a 2+hour wait, they didn't order the part early enough. She lost a day's pay. Careless. Steve's crew "fixed" it, tested it, released the car as road ready. Next day, our daughter calls me that the car overheated and is undrivable. Called Steve. He said for her to drive slowly, carefully, and let the car "cool off" for 30 minutes. Really? On the highway with cars speeding by? The car broke down, had to be TOWED to her house. Her neighbor, a handyman, looked at the problem, a loose valve, and tightened it with his own wrench in a few minutes. Fixed. I was ready to scrap the car. She could have gotten into a serious highway accident, get hurt or worse. The total repair was over $500. Not a DISCOUNT, not a REPAIR. After this, we decided that they are not qualified to work on our 3 cars. The good mechanics left, not getting decent pay, having their hours cut. The place is nowhere as busy as they used to be, losing regular customers like us, due to sloppy workmanship and possible mechanic sabotage. When things went sideways, they made it right! After having my car repaired, I drove out of the parking lot to strange noises and a bunch of warning lights and error alerts. Turned around and left it with them another day. They replaced a failing sensor at no additional cost to me, and that resolved all the issues. We had to take our vehicle back three times after they put on new rims and tires and we still have issues. We went back a final time to set up an appointment for shocks (recommend by Steve) and the old man was so unpleasant we are now looking for a new place and a second opinion. The location is at a center where there are other car repair places are, so parking could be an issue. Anyways, I arrived in the morning; was welcomed and acknowledged by Steve. So I waited for my car for a bit and after my car was done, he took the time to explain in detail about my car alignment. He showed me the print out of the before and after. He answered all of my questions and concerns. Initially I visited this shop as I had seen the great reviews. I took my 94' Land Cruiser who was having some drivability issues, with a check engine light. I read the reviews because I baby this thing. So I was confident that I was bringing it to trusted technicians who are able to assist in getting my LC back on the road. I drop it off, Tony is great very helpful and nice. They take a look at it, call me and told me it was a simple fix, check engine light will be taken care of. I had them do an oil change as well as check my spark plugs. So I leave it an additional night. Next day, tony calls me tells me it's ready, I take a Lyft on my lunch break and pick it up. I start it, and immediately I noticed it was not running right. I call tony, he calls 2 technicians. They take a look at it and say the idle needs to be adjusted, which I doubted but let them take a look at it. Tony was nice enough to give me a ride back to work. He calls me a few hours later says it's ready. So again, after work I take a Lyft to the location and pick it up. Again, its not running right. But I need a ride home and take it, not 1 minute into my drive home. The check engine light comes on again. And continues to drive a bit rough. I have lost all faith in the ability for this shop to properly provide great services as well as great customer service ( besides tony). I have written off the diagnostic charge as a loss and will be taking my business else where. It is extremely unacceptable for a business to not only once that my vehicle is ready but twice, and it not be ready. And it was very noticeable that it was not running right. Very disappointed. Great shop! Stopped by here to get my wife's Hyundai serviced. When driving, there was a clink like sound and the steering wheel rattled once passing a certain speed. He was on the phone with a customer, so we wait patiently for him to finish. When the call was done he says I'll be with you in a minute. Ok, no problem . He continues to type on the computer. Another 5 minutes go by and he's still typing. After waiting a total of 15 minutes from the time we walked in, we began to feel ignored. We finally got tired of waiting to be helped, so we left. This review is long overdue. We are very happy to share that we have 3 vehicles in our household that have been serviced here. I can't say enough about the great and HONEST customer service my family has received by Tony and Steve. I have had a water pump, serpentine belt and alternator changed in my old truck this past year for a reasonable price and reasonable time frame. I'm no mechanic but I recall I had a hunch my alternator was on it's last legs. They drove my truck, tested alternator and they gladly returned her after doing their diagnostics. They could have just recommended a alternator job but they didn't. My alternator did take dump not long after and I gladly returned to this HONEST, trustworthy shop. Do not take your car to this place. My wife and I always went to this place for work to be done on our cars but something has changed here. They told me I needed front brakes done on my last oil change so I got them done. Then I bring back my truck 5k miles later for another oil change and they tell me I need front brakes done. I told them they just did them and they said they didn't have it in their system. I tell them no on the brakes and when I go to pick up my truck they said oh you didn't need brakes. Then they break my oil filter cap and charge me 48$ for a new one that they broke. I will never take my truck or my wife's car there again as well as letting everyone know about this place. read more

Dealing with 3rd party extended warranties I always have issues no matter where I take the vehicle. Whether it's the dealership or a mom and pop shop they always give me a hard time. I took my car in a 2012 Chevy Volt. I called before hand and Carlos was very attentive told me I could leave the car over night and it would be ready tomorrow. Sure enough the following day I got a call that the car was ready and there was no issues with the warranty company and they covered the issue.
