Called to try to get some help ordering a tire from their website. They alternated between telling me they couldn't/wouldn't and that they would cost $100 more per tire than was advertised on their website. Shady practices going on there. They used to match any stores prices on tires, now they won't even honor their own. Ended up ordering from from the big online tire store and will just have someone local mount them. Ended up being hundreds cheaper than even the lowest price Discount Tire suggested. read more

Okay, I came in for one tire. Ended up being upsold for three ($1,200). So get ready for their "chart" sales pitch. They only had tires for the fronts but ordered the one rear. The other rear was put on by them about a year ago so didn't need to replace it. Had to go to Bryan Tx. that afternoon and realized about halfway there that my right front wheel was making a loud screeching nose. Had to go to the Discount Tire location in Bryan to get it repaired. Returned to Austin and got the rear tire put on a couple days later. I left for Corpus Christi the next day and every time I encountered a bump in the road my car would bottom out on the newest tire. I looked at it and saw that it was a bigger size than my old tire and the center portion of my rim was also missing. Ernest said they had lost my rim part but would get a replacement. They would also get the proper tire in and replace that . I always make an appointment and went in today at 1:15. Didn't get checked in until about 1:25 because their lot was full and I had to stand in line again. I waited for an hour and finally went up to get my keys because I had a 3:00 appointment. That was my 5th trip to stand in line in line. They are not getting the part for my rim and I still have the wrong tire. Not sure what I'm doing from here but this has been ridiculous. read more

I've been using this location of Discount Tires for many years now. This is the only place in Austin to buy tires. This is all they do and they're better at it than anyone else. Get excellent prices on great tires, they'll match anyone's price. Free LIFETIME rotation and balancing. You can make appointments or just drop in. Had a screw in my tire, called to make an appointment. Showed up at my appointment time, checked in and my car was serviced in about 10 minutes. The attendant asked me what I wanted to do if the tire needed to be replaced (use spare or buy new). We discussed price to replace; he was able to immediately quote a price based on what I had. All of this was done while I sat in my car and everyone was masked up. Everyone there was polite, informed and professional. They ended up not charging me since the screw was in a spot that did minimal damaged. Patched for free and sent on my way. Very satisfied and grateful customer. read more

As the owner of three businesses myself, I have a keen eye for proper service but rarely come across the kind the bears note of exceeding expectations. I experienced that today. Finding a flat tire on my car after a work event was stressful but my insurance company sent me a tow truck pronto. However on the way to Discount Tire (only place I go due to their warranty) he took a wrong turn. We were following him in my fiancé's car. We called Discount Tire and sadly said we'd arrive after closing... David decided he could spare his evening to wait for us and get the tire changed. But, even better, a wicked cold front had arrived and when we got there behind the tow truck he met us outside and told us to go in and warm up and he'd get the keys from the tow truck driver, handle all of that, and we could just relax. And the wonder of Discount Tire is their warranty. My expensive tire was replaced free. But get this. The work was done in under ten minutes! I have zero affiliation with this place or anyone in it but I can tell you they have earned a customer who will never stop singing their praises after the way they took care of us tonight. After closing hours!! Everyone was so warm and friendly and helpful when I was so stressed out. It turned my night around. To the point I had to stop and review them. I've been going to this Discount Tire for well over 20 (?) years. Usually good, prompt service and helpful staff. It's gone way downhill in the last few years. Over the top loud music blaring from the bay, poor communication, and staff with unhelpful attitudes. I went in for a tire rotation. I asked how long it would be. "There are 3 people ahead of you. We will call you in about 15 minutes." Great. Then I get a text saying I was first in line. Great. 15 minutes later I get a text saying that I should be on the road in 2 1/2 hours. Huh? The bay was half empty and there were not many cars in the lot. I went back to the desk and asked if the estimate was correct. "Yeah, there are about 8 people ahead of you." Then he rolled his eyes when I wanted my key back. It would have saved everyone some time and frustration to simply tell me there was a 2 1/2 hour wait. It's a shame. I'd recommend making the drive to the Discount Tire in Bastrop. Better management, better staff, better service. 100 percent better experience. read more

They really do take care of you and want you to be happy with their service - which I always am!! They were super thorough with helping me look up tires that we're comparable to mine and even ordered some to the store with no extra charge, even if I decided not to get those. When I got to my appointment, it was super packed but they got to me pretty quickly. I waited outside and was updated over text on the progress of my car. They estimated an hr wait but they finished within 40 mins which was nice! I got a text when my car was done and was able to drive away as soon as my car was off the bay. Wonderful Service! Welcoming and Helpful Staff. I went to 4 tire shops yesterday requesting service and none of them would accept my business. This is sadly the worst DT location. Besides the assistant Mgr being that the Mgr isn't avail gave me hope. Multiple visits with a warranty for tires not being put on and or repaired properly. Luckily, the last time I went to a different location. They preceded to tell me that the last location had put a tire with a tear, hence the light. This week will be my 4-5th visit bc the light is on again and this has been the 3-4th new tire change since the end of last year... Michelins. Ramon was able to get me in the same day a couple hours later. The service took slightly longer than expected but it was no problem. They have always been pretty good to me. That been said, I ran through a construction site and had three nails in my tire. I selected the mid price tire for a replacement. I think it came out to about $140 with all the junk fees. I went back to get the newly installed tire, and they couldn't find it. They hunted it down finally in the trunk of someone else's car. No worries. My tip to you, is that just because it's a discount tire, don't think you can't do better it may take a little effort on your part, but you'll save $ in the long run. read more

I arrived at the store, that was busy, around 1:20pm to replace some tires. I was supposedly put in the system but after 2 hours I had not been called. When I finally asked, one of the clerks said they did try to contact me, which is bogus as I was sitting in the lobby the whole time. I finally got someone to look at my tires. I was then told it would take another 45 minutes to an hour to complete. I went and ate lunch and came back. The car had not moved and when I checked again, there was still 2 more people ahead of me. This should not have taken almost four hours. I've had better luck at other locations and will not come to this one ever again. read more

Really happy with this place. PRICE: I knew exactly what tires I wanted, so I called 3 places in town for quotes. Discount Tire was by far the cheapest. I also appreciate that they didn't push any up-sell. Billing was clear and simple. SERVICE: Christian was fantastic. Very sincere, very helpful. This store and customer service is the best! Very knowledgeable, don't sell you anything you don't need. Had a flat tire on a Pirelli "all flat" tire and thought I would have to replace it. When I called, spoke to a service guy that was very knowledgeable and made suggestions and told me to bring in my vehicle. Once I got there, later in the day (and it was packed with people waiting), I happened to get the service guy I spoke to on the phone and he totally recognized me-pretty impressive considering all the people they speak to. I ordered two tires for my car only to be told that they don't match the tires on my car so instead, they tried to sell me all four tires which I bought because they said I got x amount of money off but only after telling me the price so I thought it was going to be ~ 100 when I got my bill. And then on top of that two of my tires were over inflated by 8 PSI and then the other two were under inflated by 5 PSI. Pretty annoying to deal with and I didn't know until I realized my gas mileage went down. read more

First strike. I brought my car in to get a tire patched. Picked it up 5 hours later and they told me it was fixed with no problems. I didn't notice the tire on my car wasn't the right tire until I got home. Evidently they couldn't patch the tire so they threw on my spare. Lots of wasted time. Second Strike. I took a car in for balancing. When I picked the car up I paid for the balancing with a lifetime warranty. When the guy walked out to the car with me he told me two of the tires were bad and needed to be replaced. Would have been nice to know before they sold me the lifetime warranty. Third Strike. I took the car to a different Discount to replace the front two tires. The mounting stud is stripped and the front rim is bent. How do you not notice a bent rim when you balance a tire? And great job on messing up the threading on the stud. On top of that, we noticed dry rot on the back tires and are having them replaced as well. So instead of the two new tires the Ben White store recommended at first, we need four new tires, a stud repair, and new rims. I've been a Discount Tire customer for years. Pretty much since I got my license in 1993. The level of service at this Discount is just not up to par. I'm recommending driving an extra 2 miles to hit the Discount off of 35 and Nelms. These guys are not nearly as busy as the Ben White store, and so far they seem to pay a lot more attention to what they are doing. They had our first 2 new tires on in less than an hour. One more thing, the Ben White Discount assistant manager did offer to refund our $$ for the original balancing/warranties. I'm still planning on avoiding this store because it appears that they are too busy for their own good, but I appreciate the customer service. read more
