I made an appointment with this Discount Tire location on 4226 N Roxboro for 2:45pm on Apr 17. It was for a nail in another tire. I would have gone to the one on 4400 Fayetteville but it was much further away from my workplace, and I have no desire to return to the Wake Forest location again for a 4.5-hour service. The location at 4226 N Roxboro in Durham was closer than both. At 2:20pm, I logged in Discount Tire's Journey Tracker app that I was on my way. I arrived at 2:34pm. There was no wait line to the front desk. I was immediately helped by senior assistant manager Jim (according to his business card). After I described the issue to him, he asked for my car key and said he'd get me squared away. Unlike other Discount Tire locations, he did not accompany me to the car to show him the issue. At 2:47pm, I received an update on Journey Track app informing me that the estimated time of completion for my vehicle was 3:41pm. The waiting area wasn't crowded. At least three seats were available during my time there. However, the counter table had no seats. I needed to use the wall outlet next to it to charge my laptop. So I stood on my feet the entire time next to the table. The wifi was slow. A Google search took at least 5 seconds. Google News wouldn't load at all the first time but then loaded almost instantly the next time. At about 3:02pm-ish, my car was in the service bay. Five minutes later, I was informed that that tire had to be replaced. The informing attendant said that it would be replaced at no charge, which Jim confirmed another five minutes later. The store didn't have the exact model tire so they went with the closest one. All it cost was less than $10 for another certificate of free replacement, and subtracting the price of the original tire (the closest model tire cost less). At 3:28pm, I received a text notification that my car was ready. Within one minute, my car was parked outside and ready to go - the team finished ahead of schedule. I appreciated the great savings on the new tire. Service was good, certainly better than the Wake Forest location. There's one thing the N Roxboro Discount Tire team can do to improve my rating to "great": put seats at the counter table. read more

Drove around after a tire rotation. One week later I realize that I'm missing a wheel lock lug on my front wheel. I don't think those just fall off... Checking air pressure a couple of weeks later, and front tires are at 40psi, 10psi higher than what my car says on the inside of the driver side door. Only came to this location because the one off of 15-501 didn't balance my tires after I asked them to on two separate appointments. Fair to say this was the last set of tires I'll ever buy from discount tire. Just save yourself the hassle and go to Costco. read more

WOW. They patch tires FOR FREE! I booked an appointment to fix my flat tire, they got me in immediately, worked on my car for less than an hour, then handed me a receipt for $0. I was shocked as I hadn't realized they patch tires for free. By the customer service, promptness in getting me in and addressing my car, I definitely expected to pay. They've got my business and whenever I need new tires, they will be the first place I look towards. I can trust that they're not going to cheat me and skyrocket the prices. I was quoted 200 dollars "all in". I did have to retort that price was ridiculous and hung up without further comment. These people are anything BUT Discount Tire. Go elsewhere. P.S. Found that the new Mavis Tire in Wake Forest will do it for 88 bucks out the door. Best price I could find. Still more that I would like to pay but in the ballpark of being fair. read more

Good thing they were not too busy on a Tuesday afternoon. Got set up in maybe 15 minutes. About 45 minutes later, I got a text my car was ready. When I came in, I again had to stand in line, while the agents answered the phone, finished chatting with others, etc. Seems one could have asked "Anyone here for a pickup?" But no, I had to listen to this guy explain and try to sell a TPMS upgrade over the phone. Have you ever had a day where bad things keep happening --one after another ? I am at the Doctor ,an hour from my home and the Tire Pressure light comes on .It's a new to me car they supposedly been checked out to the max.by Johnson Lexus before we bought it several months ago . Happily I knew there was a Discount Tire near by --we have been very happy with the stores in this chain but I've never used this Durham location before.And never needed them for this car . Apparently it's under new mgt.and they are still getting things ship shape -e.g the man assigned to checking tire pressures for people that just randomly drop in for a pressure eval. found that I had low pressure in one tire .But by filling the air back in that tire he made things more confusing for the repairmen he directed me to see next . The next man listed the wrong tire to be checked . But then they made me happy by checking them (PLUS the Spare tire). The exam revealed that two tires had been " repaired" with " gum plugs" by someone prior to my purchase.Those are meant to be temporary --not driven upon for Five months . Thanks Johnson Lexus .... This Discount Tire store worked me right in and got me out quickly . Which was great !!! But half way home they call to say that the Key for my Wheel Locks was still at the store .And they close at 6 P.M. At first they offered to just keep it safe until I could get back Not really something you want to be without! Did I mention there was a huge political protest blocking a major route to return to my home ? And that I took a wrong turn and ended up lost ? Rough day ! Then one of the store's management agreed to drive way out of his way to bring the key to my house Kris Cochrane did that . Excellent service! Very nice and helpful staff. Reservations recommended but not necessary. Friday,Saturday and Monday seem to be the busiest. I would always suggest getting the warranty on your tires. It can save you hundreds. It's worth it! We have absolutely no control over what we drive over and for some unfortunate reasons I've been getting something stuck in my tire about yearly now. Getting it plugged is free with warranty and if can't be fixed then you get a brand new tire then just buy the warranty again. It's about $30. Tires are the most important safety feature on your car! So the plan was to be there right at 8:00am when they opened because they didn't have appointments on line available Saturday. Their on line appointment system seemed user friendly and easy to use but I really wanted to get my tire looked at sooner than later. I arrived at 8:20am on Saturday morning and was greeted by Gabe at the check in area, which was clearly marked. All employees were masked and seemed to be to be taking necessary precautions with respect to Covid. Gabe provided clear instructions and communicated an estimated wait time. After getting settled in, I was greeted by another gentleman(I forgot his name-Travis I think), he checked my tires and gathered basic information from me. While I waited, Gabe came through and offered me a bottle of water, which I think is pretty generous of the business to do. As I waited in my car, Gabe made rounds checking in on customers. As a whole all employees showed a positive work ethic and seemed to take great pride in their work. I even witnessed one employee running to greet customers. I was pleasantly surprised when it was my turn to have my tire looked at that it didn't end up costing me a penny! They stated they found a nail in the tire, patched it and I was well on my way! Fantastic. My mechanic recommended I go here for new tires and they were great. Fast, friendly, and I didn't feel taken advantage of the way I frequently do at car care places. Also, I have wheel locks on my car and I didn't know where the key was - they charged me for the extra work to take them off - but then ! We were entrusted with a coworker's car while she is away for a month or so. Two days into its stay in our driveway, one of the tires appeared flat. New to the area, I used Yelp to help me decide where to take it for a repair. Score! The staff were all very friendly- I worked primarily with Benjamin and he was very helpful. He walked out to the car with me and asked a couple of questions about my story. I overheard several staff conversations with customers and as an eavesdropper, you would surmise that they all went to high school together- friendly, cordial interactions. A very positive atmosphere. In the end, a nail was the culprit. A quick plug and I was in and out in about 30 minutes. There's a cooler with bottled water and some coffee in the waiting area and the chairs were comfortable enough... one other thing I will add, is that there is no blaring tv in the waiting area showing Springer like shows. Turns out when there is a construction zone three blocks from your house, it's totally possible to get two flat tires in two weeks (same tire, too) -- just my luck! The second incident happened on Easter Sunday (when ZERO shops were open), six days before leaving on an international trip -- so I was admittedly losing my mind a bit. (The silver lining is that I learned how to change a tire on my own! #adulting) With this second incident, Costco Tire (my usual go-to) wasn't able to patch it because of their business policy involving required distance between patches (the second puncture was too close to the first). They offered a couple of options for new tires, both of which would have to be ordered and would take several days / might not arrive prior to me leaving the country. Logistics aside, I also didn't particularly want to pay for a brand-new tire on my 2-year-old vehicle if it wasn't absolutely necessary. One of the representatives lowered his voice and said that this particular case was not actually a safety issue, and so if this were his car, he'd take it to Discount Tire (not bound by the same protocol) and let them patch it. He was a former employee of the Roxboro Rd location and spoke very highly of everyone there. So glad I did! Not only did they all have fantastic attitudes (got me smiling over something that had been causing me a significant amount of stress), but they easily accommodated me without an appointment, AND also allowed me to drop off just the tire that needed patching (I had already put on the spare) so that I wouldn't have to miss time at work. I got a call within 30 minutes of leaving the shop that the work was done. Came back at lunch and they popped the original tire back on the car while I sat and ate my lunch at the counter that runs along the shop windows. I noticed that the tech also went around to all four wheels to check the tire pressures and tightness of the lug nuts before letting me drive off (which is probably standard, but was much appreciated). To top it all off, they didn't charge me a thing! I couldn't believe it! So impressed from start to finish. Will definitely be back, and will recommend to everyone I know! read more

I generally despise everything about car care / maintenance. It's always such a chore. I'll get my car inspected months after it's due, I'll put off routine oil changes as long as I can, and my car just doesn't get washed until it's raining and I speed down the highway. I'm fine with gassing up and driving, I just hate everything else about owning a car. Imagine how I felt when one of the tires on my car went flat. This was one situation I couldn't put off and resolve later. It had to be done now. So, I changed the flat all by myself (insert visual of The Church Lady doing her Superior Dance) and drove down to Discount Tire. I was greeted by a friendly young man who gave me several options for a couple of new tires, I paid and had a seat for about half an hour, played on my phone, then someone called my name, handed me my keys, and I was on my way! I wake up on a Friday morning to really low tire pressure. So I went to get air in my tire at a jiffy lube (for the second time that week). Turns out I had a screw on the side of the tire that was not repairable. They recommended me next tire which was called "Just Tires". They ended up giving me a quote of $1000ish, so I call my dad and asked him to look around for me since I was already late for work. He tells me someone could get them for such and such price and so I texted a few people I knew that knew about cars that lived in my area and one said Discount Tire. I look them up, find tires, then call and ask them. As soon as Michael answered the phone, he automatically put me in a better mood and made sure I was getting the best I could for a good price. They were $300ish less than what I was quoted earlier that morning. While I was waiting in line, Michael was with someone in front of me and he gave that person 100% of his attention. An older man that was sitting in a chair waiting, started up a conversation with me as he overheard the guy at the counter talking to Michael about his tires and the guy mentioned Costco. The older man began to brag about that Discount Tire and one in Delaware. He, as well, made me think I was getting the best deal with the best customer service. I bought a set up tires prob 2-3 months ago and they were real quick to sale me a set and took 2 minutes to take my payment.. Less than prob 3wks later I had a Flat and had to have it changed to my Donut Spare and I called them and explained the situation and they said for me to come back and I went straight there which was when I got off work around 5:30 and they told me if would be 2hrs .. No Mind you the sign says they close at 6pm which would have been 30 minutes but instead of taking 5 minutes to patch my tire after I explained my situation. They had 8 cars in front of me that they told me I would have to wait 2hrs. How can you wait 2hrs when they close in 30'minutes ?? The One guy in the office was very condescending so I chose to drive my car home with the Donut on it and made a appt for the next day to come back so when I did I still waited 45' for a 5-10 repair.. I've been coming to this store for years. I used to research prices but i don't anymore because, even if somewhere else is cheaper, I'd still come here for the service. They're usually really good at getting you in & out quickly, even for walk-ins (I never make appointments). And I don't mind waiting here a little while when necessary because there's WiFi, coffee, and water. They make sure you get your money's worth on tires, crediting you towards your next set if you don't get the full mileage out of them. And they've worked with me when I wasn't able to pay for the tires I needed right away. There's always a friendly greeting as soon as you walk in thep door.
