Then I received a text showing a picture of the hole and a quote for over $2400 ...!!! Note that this is a 2011 Prius, albeit in perfect working order. After the initial shoque, I retrieved my car and stopped by Ken's muffler shop close to home, and as luck would have it they were just changing cars on one of their hoists, so they put it right up and quoted me - are you ready? - $80!!! In 20 minutes they cut out some 4" of tail pipe, inserted a tubular sleeve, and welded it. Oh, did I say that the people at Ken's were very kind and easy to work with? You can imagine that I was ready to hug them, but alas I restrained my Italian penchant for demonstrative behavior and instead just thanked them profusely.

Steve adopted his mischievous mixed golden lab dog from the Fort Morgan Humane Society. That crazy, but adorable pup is Macy. So, when the Fort Morgan Humane Society was offered a free, but not-working van to transport dogs and cats, he offered to fix the van for free. Truly amazing! There were many mechanical issues with the van and it seemed as he repaired one problem another problem would pop up since the van was a 2013 Ford that was sitting in a parking lot for several years. He fixed everything! Now the Fort Morgan Humane Society has a "new" van to transport dogs and cats to the vet or to Front Range humane societies to help them find a new home when our shelter is full. They got me right in with very little wait. Steve ground off all the rough, rusty obstructions and got my tire to seal without a leak (so far anyway). Then when I asked Steve how much I owed him, he said not a penny. I couldn't let this kindhearted man work for free so I forced $20 in his hand. I'm very pleased with my visit.
