I've used discount tire in the past and they used to have great customer service. But recently I tried calling to ask a question about snow tires and it went straight to an automated greeting which would not have been a big deal if someone picked up after the automated greeting. But it just was on a loop and no one picked up. After about the fifth loop approximately 1min per loop. I hung up and tried calling again with the same result. Customer service used to mean talking to a person and I feel that's the way it still should be. If I call and can't get a person on the phone I will not do business there. Until the time that they fix their customer service issues I would not recommend. I just want to add, there was a time when they had the best customer service. I'm a long time discount tire customer. This time though was one for the books. I purchased 4 snow tires, had them mounted and balanced. Full bill just over 1500.00. When I left the dealer the problems began. Warning lights indicated there was a problem with tire pressure. I was unable to stop the repeated message. Worse however was I was driving on a highway at rush hour when I needed to hit the breaks. Imagine my suprise when I was hit in the head by a tire that had been placed standing rather than on it's side. I was fortunate to not get into an accident. Ten minutes later I was able to safely get off the road and store the tires properly. Fortunately not accident. Thanks to this spot I was able to find the wheels I had searched for to fit my GMC Terrain. I was going to order online but online I couldn't remove the charge for mounting and balancing. I was only buying the wheels so I didn't need that charge. I also had found a better deal from another company but they had to ship to my house and I wanted to see the wheels before I left with them. Luckily, Discount Tire was open to a price match. I came in on a weekday afternoon and made the purchase in store. They secured all the information that ensured a precise fit to my vehicle and tires. They removed the mounting and balancing charge. They also matched the price I found through another retailer when I showed them the website and purchase cost. Saved me about $45 per wheel - huge savings. 4 days later I got a call my wheels arrived. I went in the following afternoon and they had them ready for me. They were nice enough to open the wheel so I could ensure the box specs (5 lugs) was accurate. They closed them back up and then landed them in my car. They loaded the lugs in a separate box and even made sure they were back to match the matte black wheels I had purchased. These guys are swamped. During my appointment while I was waiting I noticed they were pretty much unable to take walk ins. I heard them mention they are short staffed. I went to Discount Tire where the happily agreed to get my repair under way. I walked home. An hour later I got the call. It couldn't be repaired and my option was to purchase a new tire at over $100. I am a Senior with restricted income. I ask if they might have a used tire. The young man said he would check. About 20 mins later he called me for pickup. When I arrived I hoped that it would be less than the original estimate. It turned out that he had a used tire and it was on my car in the lot. When I went into pay I was advised that the was no charge. Wow I was thankful. Couple days later I took 2 dozen chocolate chip cookies by the store. I have never had a bad experience with Discount Tire at any of their locations! I was able to place an order for my tires as well as an appointment for install online with ease. Changing my appointment was also a breeze! In the days leading up to my appointment I was called a few times by staff to inform me of the status of my order and that they would continue to call as my tires came in so that I would be all set for my appointment. The morning of I walked in and had to wait a few minutes before being checked in as they had a bit of people ahead of me. Once checked in they verified all of my information and gave me a time frame for how long to expect it to take. The tires were installed in less time than I was quoted which was a huge bonus for me! All of the staff are kind and explain everything plainly so I never feel like I'm being taken advantage of. They make suggestions but never pressure you. If you have expensive rims and need tires mounted, you need to get them mounted here. There are two veteran tire installers on staff that have experience mounting on expensive rims without any chance of damage. I explained I have expensive powder coated rims and I didn't want them damaged. He knew exactly why his machine would not damage the rim. The clamping surfaces are all non-metal material (probably some polymer plastic) and that to make extra sure, he or his manager would personally mount the tire for me. Experience matters and even with the best machine, a rookie tire installer can make a mistake that will damage the rim. I don't remember that person's name that helped me, but he looked like Joaquin Phoenix. The manager is the eldest of the group; I think his name is Mike. Both of these men are the most experienced ones there. If that weren't enough, they removed Subaru wheel locks that no one else would touch (*Les Schwab*, he also confirmed that with this wheel type they could be removed safely with no chance of damage), and he patched my tire perfectly which Subaru wouldn't even touch because of proximity to the edge. What they didn't account for was the size of the hole (it was like a tiny furniture nail, a little wider in diameter than a thumbtack). Because of size, patching was perfectly safe. I can't emphasize enough: these guys know what they are doing. I'm getting all my tire work done here from now on. I would give 6 stars if I could. read more

We recently had the tire pressure low light come on after filling the air for our tires just days before. We happened to drive into this location of Discount Tire on the other side of town from our home and saw a free tire check. Before I could get out of the car, a man greeted me and told me he'd check my tires for me. (I've been fortunate to have this happen to me before). Lo and behold, there was a screw embedded in one of them on the bottom. A simple plug would suffice. We made an appointment for 90 minutes later. Another young man took care of it. He was professional and polite and the tire was quickly fixed in about ten minutes of his time and equipment - at no charge! I brought my car in for a rotation and balancing, and they said my tires were completely shot and unsafe to drive on. I just bought a full set from them a year ago and have only put 4k miles on since. the man working there told me there is no warranty and nothing they could do short of replacing all the tires (an $1800 expense). as a female that doesn't know a lot about cars, I questioned what he was saying so I took my car to Big O down the street and they said my tires should be fine for another year or so, and balanced and rotated them for $50. I brought my car in because my front right tire pressure was low, and I knew I'd need 4 new tires for my Subaru Crosstrek ASAP. They didn't make me feel embarrassed about neglecting to rotate my tires this past year since I purchased the vehicle, and had my car ready 2 hours before the estimated time frame was over. They even replaced a bad lug nut that they just so happened to have in stock, and shaved it down or something so it'd fit (I am NOT car savvy, clearly). As I was about to drive off, my tire pressure gauge was still on, so they topped off all 4 new tires with air. Turns out it just takes a few minutes to "refresh," and the light went off before I got home. I've been to this store many times, and usually they take good care of me. But when my wife goes in it's a different story. In the fall I sent her down to have studded tires put on, and they put them on the back. Well it's a front wheel drive, so they needed to go on the front. When I complained they said studs have to go on all four wheels (maybe on an all wheel drive) had studs on other cars, and only on the drive wheels. This time she went to have the old tires (summer) put back on and the refused saying they weren't legal because of tread depth. SO I posted a picture of the tires tread and you can decide.
